I was taking my afternoon stroll and I saw these two boys riding their bikes. My Mormon detector when right up. They slowed down and asked for directions. Then I told them about Jesus possibly making a trip to India and returning with the Buddhist philosophy. I strolled into Faux news country a few hours ago and they were running an oh so highly technical “text message” poll that was running at a solid 80% for Palin.
Just goes to show that no one be the completely indoctrinated continues to watch the tripe they put forth under the guise of “news” over at teh Faux.
This was a normal debate our guy won on the issues. The Obama McCain debate though was allot closer but more people thought that Obama won. Why Emotion they cared about Obama winning more than they were objective about how well Obama did.
Normally the Right has Gun nut, Antiabortion types who vote because they care about their issues only and they vote that way.
Right now we have people who care enough about Obama wining that a close debate became an overwhelming Obama win.

She did have a partially blocked artery (plaque) right where three of them branch out and at the very beginning of the stent that was put in last June. Doctor said he was going to add a second stent but after he used the balloon to open the artery up it looked just great and circulation was back to normal. He is not sure why the plaque built up saying everyone IS different and that hopefully this will be it. She will still need to see the cardiologist regular like. So I guess it is a wait and see what happens thing just like me!! But we both would just love for all this crap to be over!!

Home from work. I missed the first 15 minutes of the debate, rehearsing at East High in Anchorage. Then, in the car, driving to Eagle River, to teach my next class, listening to the debate on NPR.
Then I set up the debate on the screeen in class, running C-SPAN on my laptop. Palin did better than most expected, but Biden was very, very good.
MS ET was at a Wasilla Mexican Restaurant with a bunch of local Dems, being filmed by Italian and Catalonian reporters, as they reacted.
Glad to see the focus groups – especially women – are reacting coldly to Palin’s simple script.

Missed the first 15 minutes, then about five minutes between listening in my car and setting up the video feed for my class. Biden talking about being a single dad got me to finally accept him – he was about No. 27 on my list of possible VP Dem candidates.
That Palin didn’t flame out totally was reassuring to Alaskans, who really don’t want our state reflected too awfully by her performance. But I’m sure most people who watched from the undecided column nationwide, will not gain any respect for her qualifications for that office.

I know David Neiwert was clearly shocked at the raw beauty he saw here at the edge of seasons. The film people are going nuts about how great the light has been these past nine days.
We call this last week or so of September and the beginning of October, Septober.

I think McCain pulled out of Michigan before the Sarah debate so Sarah’s performance in the debate would not be blamed for McCain giving up Michigan.

Yeah, I’m familiar with AIPAC and its demands and policies being way to the right of the actual Israelis. I was just curious what would be the reaction by the Palestinians and their supporters in the Middle East or will it pass as just the usual crap US politics.

That kind of crap really makes me mad. We (the US) used to be viewed (rightly or wrongly) as a mostly impartial mediator that people could trust to help them work out their differences. When Bushit took over he basically told the Palestinians to go suck eggs. And there went the whole mess (granted it was a mess before…) Now, four months before the end of his administration, Condi is running around like a chicken with her head cut off trying to ‘fix’ everything. It won’t work.
But comments like this reinforce the fact that we are NOT impartial, and make us appear to not even be trying to be. I surely hope an Obama/Biden administration can reverse this. We need to re-invigorate the UN, and the way to do that is to pay our dues, cooperate with other countries to get things done, and try to restore our credibility as an even-handed mediator.

OT I just had a weird thing happen. In the events of the night I’d forgotten to lock our new chickens into their roost. I went out with my flashlight, making enough noise to wake the dead…and a “dog” stared at me, then retreated down a path not 5 feet from where I stood. With many options for more slinky paths away from me.
It was a coyote. In my whole childhood on the prairie a coyote has never opted for an escape that goes feet from a human!!! I actually LIKE coyotes. This was freaky.
After my heart stopped pounding I imagined what it must be like for the people of Irak to encounter not rogue coyotes, but rogue humans. when a sound alerts you to a presence, but it’s too late to do anything but scream.
