First, an overall impression: Biden came across as very gracious, statesmanlike, and poised. Palin seemed overly precious and flirty and unprofessional, and overplayed her narrative of "I’m just a simple middle-class girl, I’m not like these Washington politicians, the American people want straight talk." She came across as overly smug and a bit phony.
And now, the comments!
Hmmm: She’s swallowing hard. She’s scared.
Good.
Eureka Springs: If CNN’s little Ohio toggle lines are any indication, both men and women are far more approving of Biden… throughout most of the debate so far.
watertiger: words aside, look at her nonverbal cues. She’s doing the Jennifer
Wilbanks/Runaway Bride thing.
Strung. Out.
ThingsComeUndone: Joe mentions Spain Sarah got scared eyes bulged out I think she was told to avoid that topic it must not have tested well. Maybe anything that suggests McCain is Senile she was told to avoid.
Hugh: I’m a big supporter of Israel.
Well, I’m an even bigger supporter of Israel.
I’m a super duper supporter of Israel.
Well, I’m a super ruper duper supporter of Israel.
The closest thing to a meaningful exchange this evening.
eCAHNomics: Oooh, she said maverick again. Palinbingo players take note.
Millineryman: I actually feel bad for Joe. Could you imagine being on the stage and having to answer to constant gibberish?
JimWhite: VP doesn’t preside over the Senate. FAIL.
RevDeb: squid ink on the 4th branch.
MrsK8: She dives headlong into a sentence, no matter how murky the deep end is.

ZED??
Jane Swift is awfully… shiny.
All the post debate CSPAN callers are pro McPalin or disgruntled Ron Paulers.
And don’t forget the “I memorized all my lines. Did I win a pony?
Kit Bombed! He’s been hitting the sauce pretty hard.
Joe the Shark ate her up. This was no debate by Sarah! She just sticking to the talking points and not answering most of the questions she was asked!
“She did as best as she could but voters are looking at what she can do over the next four years” – Matthew Dowd
Fourth Branch! I am glad Joe Biden is familiar with the actual constitution not the toilet paper that Bush has called the constitution for the last eight years.
I have yet to ever hear a coherent caller on that station. I have been told they exist but at this point I think it’s just an urban legend
I guess America will love her sixth grade sing-song recital.
Holy crap. We did 7 rounds of live blogging and now a wrap up. Anyone have a blister?
What? Kit Bond shooting down Palin?!
i missed that. 4th branch? oy vay
I noticed that. We should all call!
Digg It Pups. I knopw it has been hard to Digg but now you WILL have Time to do your duty and DIGG IT!!
Nooners was saying that Palin killed, that she totally had Biden on the defensive. I wonder what debate she was watching.
Then again, I thought McCain beat Obama in the first debate, and that doesn’t seem to be the CW, so maybe I’m wrong again…
ROFL
You betcha!
Can’t wait for Tuesday to wipe that woman’s gibberish from my mind.
sarah looks like a news reader and sounds like a valley gril
“Ummmmm…can I get back to the gas station owners?”
Oh man, the ‘take a drink every time Palin says maverick’ game might have been a bad idea.
My favorite moment was with the civil rights of gay couples when Joe said that McPalin seemed to agree with him. She was visibly horrified.
I saw her skirt flip over her face too. LOL
She used so many double negatives that I wasn’t actually sure *what* she said.
ROFL that was hilarious
You’re telling me … I’m gonna hate myself tomorrow, if I remember tonight …
I do but I’m not going to tell you where “g”
CNN saying she does not meet the 9/11 test; just can’t see her there.
Reese Witherspoon was better at it in the movie Election. But there are lots of parallels there.
“Ummmmm…your flag is the white flag of surrender”. She was being talked to via an earpiece there.
Good thing my Doctor told me I can’t drink any more!! But I did a liter & !/2 of Calistoga lemon water:>)
I dunno, I can totally see her doing exactly what Dubya did.
not entirely true, i’ve heard some obama smarties too.
LOL Well, when you get rid of your shyness, tell me then? Bah hahahahahaha! Kidding. I’m kidding.
me too, still scratching my head…………..and the run on sentences
Oh man, the ‘take a drink every time Palin says maverick’ game might have been a bad idea.
WO, drink plenty of water, take an aspirin, try papaya juice… we need you sharp mind working here at the lake tomorrow.
EVerybbody VOTE EARLY if you can. makes it easier for GOTV folks on election day.
Hah … “Tina Fey 08″
Tina Fey 08 sign behind Mrs. Greenspan!
And the non-sentences. She started out coherent, but kinda started to break down towards the end.
Exactly ;)
C-SPAN good right now. Enjoying the callers. 16 year old making a good assessment of why Biden better.
Paul Begala: “[Palin] was running for 2012.” I absolutely agree with him, her performance did not seem to be at all helpful to the current ticket. She did not hit Obama effectively at all.
ya that was good moment! But damn there should at least be a civil union for all gays let religion call theirs a Marriage and the Civil union a civil marriage with all rights for any committed couple no matter what make it is!!
Biden boxed her in. She attempted a quick save, but she will anger the Religious Right with her liberal gay tolerance.
9/11, Katrina, Iraq, the economic meltdown, she would be Bush with boobs on all of these, but it is her anywhere near the the nuclear football that gives me nightmares.
Mrs. Greenspan – “She stopped the bleeding. She had answers. They may not have been what the moderator asked….”
Welcome back to The Dark Side, Mrs. Greenspan.
and often *wink*
what were you drinking?
if anyone got behind in their diggs during the debate, use this handy page to catch up on diggin.
OK time for Jon Stewart.
i heard her repeat VERBATEM McSlezies talking points, from his debate,i could list them but im too tired
Good night, folks.
boy was she relieved when it was over
KO dismantling SP.
Cranberry Juice … diluted with Grey Goose … *g*
nite Jim!
Olbermann’s up.
Thank gawd – sanity returns to my teevee.
No one has mentioned how strong Governor Palin came out in favor of government regulation and oversight in this debate. “Strong oversight” I believe was the term she used. I wonder how that’ll play with the base. Understudy Michele Bachmann (R-Nitwit) seems confused about how to spin that regulation thingy.
Oh boy Keith O is on. I bet he will skewer her!!
hahahahahahahahahahaha
no shit
That would be The Dark Side of the Moose.
KO has the Michigan story.
That’s like France. The legal ceremony is in the mayor’s office. Then if a couple wants to go to a church for a religious ceremony they can do that after but it is the civil service that counts.
This is what they do in Germany. If you’re gay, the government will give you a civil marriage with all the attendant rights and privileges, but if you want a religious marriage, that’s between you and your church.
I think that’s a pretty fair approach, and it maintains the separation of church and state.
Thank you Suzanne, sorry about that Nahant, I appear to have duplicated one of your diggs.
I blame the lovely Merlot on my end table here. (or rather what’s left of it.)
So where are these pix of the alleged radio box under SP’s suit?
oh puleeeeeeeeeeaze Keith no more Sarah
thanks for the laughs everyone. When things get scary we need to laugh! time for bed.
That the corporate media and their highly paid pundits take her seriously speaks volumes. They along with the caribou harpie have no credibility whatsoever.
Are you saying that she had to cheat to be that bad?
Gee the Germans are Smart!! I always thought so especially after spending two years there. They are a progressive people!!
And the reality is even now – if you don’t get the paperwork, you’re not married, no matter if you have a church “wedding”.
Had to have an earpiece. Palin’s performance with Couric and Gibson indicate that she had someone feeding her sound bites for this debate. Maybe she had a laptop. There also appeared to be a bulge under her jacket.
LOL diluted huh?
I agree with so much, but I really have to make one correction above. JimWhite, yes the vice president DOES preside over the Senate. That and being the President’s successor are pretty much the only constitutional duties assigned that office.
My favorite moment was when Palin was running through her talking points and her mouth blurted out that there had been bungling in the handling of the war, and she listed off some other things and then said that even the Republicans in Washington had bungled too. As soon as that slipped her mouth her eyes got an odd look in them.(Cardinal rule for Repubs: never criticize any Repub party member).
my church is happy to do it. The first legal gay marriage in MA was done at our denominational HQ. Sadly the couple split up 3 years later. But I’ve been doing services of union for a decade.
By the way, many thanks to FDL for these threads, a bit of sanity in the silly season.
but how are ya gonna argue with all the great things she did in Wasilla (population less than 7,000)?
They proved that when they progressed through Europe more than 50 years ago … *g*
I was so happy that Biden talked about Cheney being dangerous and that he brought up the fact that McC said he wouldn’t talk to Spain. good ones, IMO
Palin/McCain are still running tv ads this evening. Let them squander their money in Michigan, they’re toast here.
Not sure about that – I’ve noticed sometimes what looks to be a bit of scoliosis in her upper back.
Fred Thompson on Fox. He loved her. She was great!! Ol’ Fred jest spooged his’self.
Anyone out there think she looked and answered like she was in a beauty contest. I betcha
that is how it is in Brasilas well (no gay unions though) but they only recognize civil marriages
Hey Kirk how ya been?? Haven’t seen ya here lately. Have you been getting your application for Canadian citizenship together??
Hope you have been enjoying the ear candy I sent ya.
I heard that drinking undiluted Cranberry juice is harmful to our health … *g*
Some churches are in favor of it, some are not. The ones that are against it shouldn’t be allowed to block gay marriage, but neither should they be forced to sanctify it. And those that are willing to do it should not be prevented either.
I say let the media interview her now that the debate is over. Let’s see how well she does
I haven’t had a drink since 13 May 1987 but if McCain wins in November I’m having me a nice big margarita because as far as I’m concerned it’ll be all over.
I walked in when Biden was deriding the “maverick” tag.
Not bad.
Refresh, updated with the transcript
Obama was in Grand Rapids, MI several days ago, a Republican stronghold in the state, and he drew 15,000 +. McCain was in Grand Rapids within a day or two and drew “several thousand.” Palin/McCain know that it’s all over for them in the Great Lakes state.
Hey Sarah! Your Goose is aBout to Get Cooked!
I seem to have heard that as well.
exactly.
Can anyone make a guess as to who pushed the embassy in Jerusalem idea/goal into Palin’s head? We know she doesn’t know much about foreign policy. It’s seems strange that that was foremost on her mind when asked about Palestine/Israel.
I must have missed something. How exactly is refusing to answer the debate questions consistent with not crashing and burning?
I love watching Republicans say nice things about her.
She stank yesterday. She stinks today. She will stink tomorrow.
People who defend Palin at this point are out of their minds and their judgment is as bad as John McCain’s.
“A wolverine attacking the leg of a passerby.”
ROTFL!
She had the gaul to use St. Reagan’s Masterpiece: There you go again…
But they DID learn their lesson… But then again it was an Austrian who led them into the WWII debacle. That and the draconian revenge of the victorious allies who caused such economic destruction of the German State at the time!
Did anyone think it strange how Biden’s podium was not facing the people yet Palin’s podium was facing the audience? I found it really weird.
She was just not interested in answering those questions
exactly. I thought Ifill blew. Anybody who could have watched that and felt re-assured by her……. I just don’t know. ‘member when she was talking as if she had that tight connection to Main Street ’cause she’s a hockey mom and all that — the time toward the end. i think Biden was genuinely pissed. I don’t think that was an act when he told how he knows about the whole sitting around the kitchen table deal, too.
Woo-hoo!
Kirk !
I wanted Joe to steal that, it would have been perfect.
Ol’ Fred jest spooged his’self.
guess that means that 2008 is covered. Sorry, Jeri, but hey, 2009 isn’t that far away.
cnn quickvote
Who fared better in the vice presidential debate?
Sen. Joe Biden 73% 52692
Gov. Sarah Palin 24% 17525
Neither 3% 2085
Total Votes: 72302
One old fart calling into C-Span said, “She took charge and wasn’t gonna answer their questions without saying what she wanted to say! Sarah did GREAT!!!”
That’s how she didn’t c&b with that crowd. And that crowd’s why she’s here.
Well, I’ve had about as much “cute” as it’s possible to stomach for a lifetime.
I did. That was f***d up – a skewed podium.
Yeah, I got a definite “How *dare* you suggest that I don’t know what it’s like to struggle through tragedy and hard times and uncertainty! I lost my fucking WIFE!”
speaking of drinking, that didn’t go as i planned at all. a shot every time Biden said “Look….” figgered i’d have been wasted an hour ago shoulda done it for every “Guess what…?” that’s ok. i’ll feel better in te morning.
Sorry. That’s Howard Fineman on Olbermann.
Ifill totally lived up to my expectations of her.
She had the gaul to use St. Reagan’s Masterpiece: There you go again…
and I’m sure that she came up with that idea all by her ‘aren’t-I-cute’ lil self….
I thought McCain won his debate and Palin won this one. I’m glad that I’m wrong.
OK, then I repeat my perennial line: I am afraid for our Republic.
Rachel must read here. Ding!
You must have had very low expectations of Condi’s shoe shopping gal pal.
Mine, too.
On cnn.com’s feed Carl Bernstein tried to be nice about it, but he basically eviscerated Palin, and McCain’s choosing her. He also said Biden was the best he’d ever seen him.
KO does too …
Ms. Redshift points out that in Palin’s description of her role as VP, she basically said she would be First Lady — dealing with special-needs children and such.
Rachel’s right, SP asking for more power than Cheney is a BIG loser.
wow. wow. we’ll see when more polls come in. i thought she’d poll well considering how low the bar was set. at least i thought it was set low. maybe the American people aren’t willing to set the bar that low and i’ll have something to be encouraged about.
anybody got poll sites to freep?
she does. she has said so on her show
When the wingnuts started going after Ifill, I was really hoping she’d get replaced by Rachel. That would have been awesome.
Yes, I know it would never happen in a million years, but it’s still fun to think about.
They didn’t let her use it as a stand alone. She was certain to use it in a run-on sentence as a preface to futher R bullshit. Yes, of course, it was ordered from high up in the GOP.
Well, I’m going to bed with cocktail down the front of me. Thanks everyone! I had a great time! Our nation will be in more peril than it is thanks to the Palins of the Neocon Party.
Nite nite everyone. By the way, my eyes have salted over for laughing so much. Thanks. LOL
Mid-way, Palin’s eyes started glowing.
And Palin knew she had won the night.
Yeah, I heard Palin say that too and I thought huh? She doesn’t know what a VP does.
G’nite Kay !
msnbc (one vote per IP) poll:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26995439
Who won the VP debate?
Joe 53%
Sarah 37%
Tie 5%
Not Sure 5%
189,846 votes
here ya go, courtesy of the orange overlord
rachel & KO just invited to be on Palin on live. LOL
I think Palin was mayor of Wasilla and asking the library director “how to bann books” at the same time there was some kind of furor over the book “Pastor I am Gay.” Her cliche answer, “some of my best friends are gay (paraphrase)” is a bigots answer. It’s a shame that a lot of the general audience will think she’s “tolerant” but “conflicted” being a Christian women with a big capitol “c”. Palin is such a snake.
KO have SP on for an hour but she must answer at least 20% of the questions… She might answer 2% any more and I would be floored!!
That was a loser for Palin. Biden handled it well in rebuttal.
The Palin supporters on C-SPAN who are calling in have an IQ of 24. Very obvious.
night
‘Night, KayInMaine and all leaving sleepypups. Sweet dreams to ye.
Nite nite Petro! Had fun.
N.Y. Times live blog:
On Her Feet | 9:35 p.m. Half an hour in, Ms. Palin appears to be a different person from the hesitant, ill-informed interviewee who spoke to Katie Couric in several televised interviews. She is barreling along, not skipping a beat, reciting facts and figures, matching Mr. Biden point for point.
http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes…..owdown/?hp
I must have been watching a different debate.
she does. she has said so on her show
Rut-roh. Don’t tell CTtut that, or he’ll never leave his computer… *g*
NPR (during the debate round-up), AP and Bloomberg are reporting that the Troopergate investigation is on too.
Urghh. The voting public. Urgh
Thanks, wobbs.
Nite, Kay.
As far as the Vice President, and also, I would support the President’s policies. And also, as far as presiding over the Senate, I would also do that. But mainly, I would be there, also, to support John McCain’s policies, also, as I said.
That wasn’t what I observed. At 50% she was thrashing.
I am so sorry that ”Also” was not on my bingo card. Because I would totally have won with that. As I said.
Biden debated Palin while Palin repeated her talking points over and over and over again. Being a parrot is not debating.
people see and hear what they want to see or hear
Hmmm. I just got off the phone with a European friend living here. He said he thought this debate was much more interesting than the last one. More engaging.
I think it’s the same problem as with the first debate: liberals watched to look for a wipeout by the other side – they didn’t get one. But that won’t help the other side, since they’ll vote Dem anyway. undecideds watched to weigh the two choice – and in this respect, Biden won.
wow. expectations, i thought were so low for her she would have done well in all the polls. she totally blew the middle east question — i think worse than any. wait. there was another where she went into her incoherent ramble and couldn’t find a talking point to fall back on. was that the same one? middle east/two state policy?
I’d love to see Rachel take her apart …
Obama wasn’t at the top of his game in the last debate. I think McCain was, but he was still, well, McCain.
MSNBC poll only has Biden up by 53-37.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26995439
so true
Thanks. Confirms what we think here.
McCain was on amphetamines.
Umm, Could I go back to Afghanistan?
The other half of it was that Biden was in absolutely fantastic form. Totally in control, no gaffes, always looked like he knew exactly what he was talking about without coming across as a condescending jerk.
i heard her say something about the founders being smart enough to give the VP flexible powers… or something. what the fuck did she say?
Gergen sober – debate is sideshow, we need a much bigger plan on the bailout.
I’d love to see Rachel take her apart …
I’d pay to see it.
Yeah There were no rebuttals. She sucks at synthesis. She was able to avoid having to show it with this format as opposed to the interview format because she could change the questions to fit here talking points.
gee willikers what a lousy spread
I’d pay five bucks.
Gergen’s the sideshow
Ordinarily yes. But I think he’s right tonight on that.
I wish it were January
That’s not what I meant ! *g*
Sounds like a press release and not a critique.
I would say she barrelled along, totally unable to to be specific. She dodged questions by changing the subject. Her grammar was horrible. She mispronounced words and names. She often lurched into garbly non-sentences that were so hard to follow they sounded like non-sequiturs. Either she was ill-informed on the issues, e.g. Biden’s and McCain’s respective voting records, or going by the Rove playbook stressing bald-faced lies.
i agree. that’s what i felt was good about the debate. i didn’t think barack was great but i think he was good and mccain will never do better. actually, the thing mccain got hammered on — not looking at barack – is something i think would make mccain more effective. on the whole, i don’t think mccain can de better in a debate format. is the next one town hall? mccain supposedly owns that format but i think Barack does well, too.
Me too. really ready.
damn I had ‘fungability’ on my bingo card and she never said it
Gov. of Hawaii has replaced Carly as designated McCheese flack, up next on KO.
I’d like to see Rachel dress her down.
Palin got McCain back in the race.
The REPUBs can go over the top by refusing to bail out the NYC banksters tomorrow.
But Sarah, you’ve never been there!
hi nahant and petro….
and welcome kirk: love your name, btw :)
nahant, thank you for the magic you shared!
(petro, i’m still nudging the paperwork along. i’m going to start sipping maple syrup for luck.)
Why does Sarah’s baby never cry?
Israel wants Jerusalem to be the capital of Israel.
CNN (Snyder and Soledad) looks to be decisively calling it for Biden. Says that Palin came off well but didn’t convince anybody that she’s ready to be president.
She was able to avoid having to show it with this format as opposed to the interview format because she could change the questions to fit here talking points.
I think Gwen Ifill went way too far out of her way to be deferential to Da Guv. How can a moderator not even *mention* that one candidate was ignoring her questions whenever she felt like it?
Pre-working the refs works.
Ask Phil Jackson.
Early returns from CBS News poll of undecideds:
I’d like to see the transcript when she talked about energy. She always sounds like she’s got some funny science on her brain.
And who told her that she should agree with them?!? Huh?
To me, Joe Biden came across as who he really is and has been. He won hands down on facts, record recall, and calling Palin’s errors.
Sarah Palin showed me the image she wants me to believe in; “selling” me a facade. She took Biden’s own statements out of context and twisted them (he called her on them). She tried the gender play, using the special needs baby again. Biden put a real stop to that!
Clear win for Biden. (I am an independent voter for Obama/Biden).
Lucky que per què KO – last I checked Bush is the present and we are getting Bushed.
Also umm more power for Dick Cheney and herself…
Also never answering the question.
Yes better than the interviews she gave (low bar) – but nothing better than stopping the bleeding. Could have been worse for them.
Bottom line policy sucks. 2 – 5 percent up for grabs on that tomorrow maybe into next week. Likely not much more on the table. Lights out.
Yep, she said they just left it flexible and open to do whatever needed to be done (and then she slopped together phrases that gave me temporary vertigo). She did mention that the VP was head of the Senate and had a vote.
down’s syndrome babies are ‘very good’, rarely cry or fuss. the term placid is used a lot.
Dip some Back Bacon in it … *g*
Rethugs were crying foul. Was O’Reilly telling them that Ifill is writing a book about the Obama’s?
Yeah, I had molecules on mine. She was close, but didn’t say it.
Is the debate on yet? Did I miss it?
okay two more to go.
201 was in reply to
CaptainDoc Kirk @ 189Lucky que per què KO – last I checked Bush is the present and we are getting Bushed.

Lastly she was all nerves for the first 65 mins and even after that no or non or other ”answers”.
one of the cards had ‘fungible molecules’ on it LOL
CTuttle! So sorry about your governor.
Because the Baby gets Cross- checked by Daddy if it cries …
Can you imagine 4 more years of nucular?
Forty-six percent of the uncommitted voters surveyed say Democrat Joe Biden won the debate, compared to 21 percent for Republican Sarah Palin. Thirty-three percent said it was a tie.
Sounds pretty close to the Obama v. McCain debate…
politico.comm has one. Biden winning 77 to 22.
I thought that was the best thing the McCain camp did this week
it posted twice. if you don’t see it right away, it may be caught in the filters and would need to be freed before appearing. if you refresh and don’t see it, refresh again and its probably there.
I wish I could say I can’t imagine it.
Hawaii Guv on MSNBC now, talking about *her* governorship.
What’s up with these women?
Well, just darn those MSM filters anyway!
who are the guys holding signs in the background?
The baby has Down’s Syndrome ? Don’t they check for that in the 1st/2nd trimester ?
wow gov of hawaii needs some fashion tips. egads what is up with the jacket?
yep. Efficient and everything. Who’d a-thunk it?
If I were Joe Biden, I’d be insulted by those persons who thought it was a tie.
genuine pissed-offedness I think Joe showed when she tried to own “I know what families go through around the kitchen table” bit.
I’m sure you’re right, but it still seems wrong somehow!
Well, per Wiki (and also what I remembered from school, which is why I looked it up),
part of the campaign going by the credentials hanging around their neck
She doesn’t come across as much of a thinker. For someone in her position as a Governor, that is scary. I live in Vermont and someone like her would not be elected to be dogcatcher here.
EG! We’ll all be getting the analysis…
Very funny!
Soccer moms, Hockey Moms and Joe six Packs want more tax cuts for millionaires and oil companies. It creates jobs. /s

Not going to swing non-decides and the ”media” will be replaying all if Palins fotage. She did not pass CIC threshold as Obama did.
Please delete if.I am multi poisting.
Well, just darn those MSM filters anyway!
that was just in case the media didn’t catch her fuck-you to them the first time.
And look at how well that’s worked out for her….
i’m sure someone has already said this but she really reminded me of a beauty pageant contestant who gives whatever answer she wants.
what’s really annoying is the stated view by some GOPers that it’s the partisanship that’s deadlocking things, while conveniently forgetting the Rovian strategy that got them there. while an active moderator is generally not a good thing, how do Repubs get a pass on this?
What’s wrong is using that poor baby as a prop.
I believe there is at least one YouTube clip with the infamous Miss South Carolina answer dubbed over one of her interview responses.
Not definitive, but it sure seems that way.
apologies for the meta-thought — just been bothering me for a long while.
She sounded like a Weather Reporter … say what you want but sprinkle in a few sound bites … no one listens anyways …
ummm, wrong kirk, I think. (grin) Long time lurker just registered, which means… Hey, moderators, did this thing allow two people the same login? (Unlikely, so if the long-time Kirk comes back and wants his login, let me know so I can change.)
she really reminded me of a beauty pageant contestant who gives whatever answer she wants.
If she *really* wanted the Joe Six-Packs, she should have gone with the pageantary swim-suit….
I would like to see the reaction if Sarah said “you betcha” to the Prime Minister of Great Britain. The air would freeze.
YUP!
your names are different – you are kirk and he is kirk murphy
otherwise, the registration process would have told you the name was in use and to select another.
and welcome :) any questions, just ask
Yeah, can you believe she said that? Palin’s sometimes hard to interpret,. She’s got all these verbal sidewinds, gutters, alleys and whathaveyou. But that seems to be what she implied: hockey moms and joe-six pack need to help out the billionaires.
Suz !
What’d you think of SP ?
The Democrats, ReThugs and Likud have much they agree upon.
International incident. the brits here say if we elect her, we get what we deserve andmay we fade into oblivion forever
Still, how entertaining would it be to see her saying that while sitting next to Thatcher?
her voice is like fingernails down a chalkboard and her answers were non-answers
i’m headed upstairs to read chs’s new post
I’m so far behind here and my lids are slamming shut.
Be good to yourselves, and all other living things.
Namaste.
Because he is likely medicated within an inch of his life for these appearances.
somebody needs to call them out — and i was hoping biden would- on this bullshit that McCain “sounded the alarm” about fannie Mae & Freddie Mac. McCain co-sponsored a bill after it was already dead. one area where mccain & bush disagree; bush opposed the house version of that bill as being too weak. good thing at DKos, I think. i’ll get the link. but they’re really harping on this and they’re going to continue to do so and make it sound like McCain was sounding the alarum about what caused the crisis we’re in.
Or what if she asked to call them all by first names during that first handshake?
Imagining a future with Palin/McCain in it is bleak. I shudder. I say a mantra that Obama/Biden will win.
Miss South Carolina liked “such as”. She used it oddly as a predicate.
Palin used also excessively and often incorrectly also such as.
707!
I think about a third of those that say Palin “won” are those that think that if she did better than expectations she “won”. That would mean the remainder are the brain-dead idealogues.
So if you asked people who actually won the debate if you didn’t know Palin before the debate…it would be about 75% to 25%.
I, too, have been struck by the total inertness of the baby. He has been totally limp without facial expression even during all the chaos around him, no sign of distress. I also thought about his being medicated — benadryl?
I had 5 children, none “special needs”. I could never have taken them into such surroundings at 6 months old without their becoming terrified, kicking and crying.
Another thing entirely: Palin’s remark about understanding the parents’ worry: kids going to college, “how we gonna pay for it??”. Her oldest 2 didn’t worry her much in that regard.
Here is a picture I took of Gov. Trainwreck at the debate party I attended:
The Lizard Brain?
Just about nails her personality doesn’t it?
Really? Caged match? Kick-box? Ultimate Fight? Arm-wrestle?
A little question:
I’ve heard McCain and his surrogates say throughout his campaign, ” McCain has won wars, he was there, and he knows how to win this one “.
Gov Palin states this during the VP debate, ” John McCain knows how to win wars, John has won wars, he has been there and knows how to win this one”.
(I guess Afganistan would make two but we are counting in palinism)
Can anyone tell me what war or wars John McCain has won?
Also, where did McCain get this war winning education?
I read the Kit bombed remark. Aren’t there enough people on Capitol Hill in need to start their own AA group? I have watched Kit Bond, in those disgraceful camel jackets, get more and more red-veined and bleary-eyed as the years have prgressed. Yet, the people of Missouri keep sending the old lush back. I live here and they do it with no help from me.
