Paulson is a lame duck who in four months will be seeking work in the industry to which he will hand out hundreds of billions of our dollars — he’ll be the on who decides who gets bailed and who doesn’t. Do we have to turn that very serious responsibility over to an unaccountable lame duck?

I have a question. Where exactly is this $700 Billion coming from? (Why do I get this sneaking suspicion they plan to take it from Social Security?)

How about making part of the agreement that Paulson is out, and congress gets to choose the interim chair?

Oh yes.

“You don’t have money to fund the war or children. But you’re going to spend it to blow up innocent people if we can get enough kids to grow old enough for you to send to Iraq to get their heads blown off for the president’s amusement.”

Last Thursday morning I had C-SPAN on and the Speaker in charge for the day (can’t remember her name at the moment) told one of our Democrats who had just finished giving her 1-minute speech, “May I remind you to not go after the personalities of our president & vice president, please” or something to that effect. WTF!

Are their children being threatened by Dick Cheney or something? Something very strange is happening.

Perhaps Nancy could introduce a censure resolution. Wasn’t Pete Stark the Congressman she made apologize on the House floor for insulting Dear Leader Bush?

I second that. Chimpy will just do whatever he wants which is why ALL of his signing statements have to be abrogated by Obama come January.

Corey Mull sent a message to the members of “Just Say No” to the Paulson Bailout.

Subject: NoCashForTrash.org

I wanted to announce a new site organized to oppose the Paulson bailout. Check out www.nocashfortrash.org, a bipartisan effort to keep Congress off the path of socializing risk and privatizing profit. You can submit bailout-related articles and opinion pieces there, as well as sign a number of petitions.

The problem that we now face is a credit crisis.
Do we …plenty of financial pundits saying that it it not true.

At a Harvard panel discussion yesterday, economist professor Ken Rogoff made an interesting point: The liquidity crisis isn’t real. Or, to restate it: Any liquidity crisis is caused by the promise of a government bailout. Ken said that his many friends in investment banking said that there is plenty of money to invest in financial services, but right now it is “sitting on the sidelines.” Why? Because the financial services industry does not want to pay the terms required to get that money back in circulation (e.g., give up equity). As he put it, why do business with Warren Buffett who will negotiate a tough deal, if you believe that the government will ride in soon with cheaper cash?
