I met Paul Newman years ago, back in the 70’s, not long after Butch Cassidy and The Sting. My BF and I were camping in our VW microbus and it threw a rod and penniless DFH’s such as we were, we had to rebuild it in the backyard of some DFH’s in Fairfield, CT. I had to hitch to a foreign car parts place, and there, grimy with grease and somewhat disheveled, I met Paul Newman (a well known gearhead).
He took amused pity on my situation (spending my vaca fixing a freaking car) and gave me a ride back in the 1967 VW Beetle he had that had a Porsche 912 engine. He was utterly charming to a grubby, starstruck kid, and I have dined out on that story for 30 years…

I heard they closed down Limerock racetrack in western CT for him a few weeks ago, so he could take some last laps. Damn. Damn…

Has anyone heard anything about the mock press conference and mock debates that McSames campaign has run with Palin? Thought I heard that they were complete disaters. Palin’s not ready for prime time. Disgusting that ABC refused to interview Biden after the debates because they couldn’t interview Palin. I just wish there were a broadcast network that would make the corporate media the story. Stick a microphone in Gibson’s face and ask point blank why ABC made the decision to snub Biden just because the Republiclans are keeping Palin under wraps. Not only is the Republican Party America’s biggest problem but a complicit, cynical and corrupt corporate media.

Not to worry. Palin is waiting in the wings. Just hope McCain has a food taster with Palin on deck.

I can’t ignore ‘em. Personality trait. I can’t resist stickin’ it to ‘em. This guy wears nothing but silk. He draws me like a fly to a corpse. Plus I really want to turn this guy. He says he wants to cry every time he talks to me. Reality is a hard master.

Katymine,
The Spokesman-Review reported today that JP Morgan Chase will continue to process mortgages the same as has been occuring. All indications that unless you had stock in WaMu or have a WaMu and JP Morgan Chase bank near each other, you may not notice much of anything.

Looks like our mortgages will just continue as they have been.

the alternative energy industry is the pathway to our economic recovery, it can be our new deal, it can be our space program, it will energize the economy, investment, ouor infrastructure and it will bring QUALITY jobs back home

we have to also bring back protectionism, we CANNOT allow products sold in this country that come from slave and child labor, that come from countries that allow industry to dump their cancer in my kids air

those products MUST be tariffed and we NEED to create an equal playing field if our economy is to recover

Over the years in owning my housecleaning company, I’ve had some customers treat me like dirt so they can make themselves feel better. Almost always it’s done by people who THINK they’are rich (maybe a combined income of $80,000 with tons of bills), when really, they’re just wannabees who are part of the problem today: MATERIALISM CREATES DEBT.

Just ignore people like that, SD. In the end, those of us who have had to survive each week to keep afloat will be the ones who will actually be able to survive. It’s the ones who have been keeping up with the Smith’s who will be mortified to have to survive and will have a hard time doing it! We’ll just laugh at them. ;-) I know I already do.
