As we’ve seen and heard more from John McCain’s running mate, it is increasingly clear that Palin is a problem. Quick study or not, she doesn’t know enough about economics and foreign policy to make Americans comfortable with a President Palin should conditions warrant her promotion.
Insulting. Elitist. Sexist.
Palin’s recent interviews with Charles Gibson, Sean Hannity, and now Katie Couric have all revealed an attractive, earnest, confident candidate. Who Is Clearly Out Of Her League.
Clearly, Parker doesn’t realize that Russia is like totally close to Alaska.
Only Palin can save McCain, her party, and the country she loves. She can bow out for personal reasons, perhaps because she wants to spend more time with her newborn.
When you’ve lost Kathleen Freaking Parker, you’re screwed.

Sounds like Kathleen Parker is getting embarassed. Who know that Conservatives of the NRO type could even be embarassed.
It’s too late.
If she resigns, the campaign’s seen as being in disarray; if she stays, well, she does more interviews.
Ooh, no surprise there that an older white woman would finally kick her to the curb.
Let’s hope the testosterone-laden part of the tribe stops worshipping at the feet of the Death Goddess soon, too.
Or K-Lo runs the risk of backlash from her own tribe.
Wow, what a week! I can hardly keep up here. Thanks for the link. (someone on another blog referenced it but it didn’t work… and now… here you are helping me!)
Here’s another view of Palin – from Judith Warner in the Times:
http://warner.blogs.nytimes.co…..oor-sarah/
Paging Mittmo Romnutz. Our economic saviour shall be in place before the VP debate. Gag.
You could actually hear the laughter of the panel on Anderson Cooper’s show last night while they played the interview with Couric.
Not good.
And don’t think she doesn’t know it. I think that’s why her Couric interview was even worse than her Gibson interview: I suspect that these cramming sessions she’s been having consist more of McCain’s people trying to get her to cram, and her being all “I’m just going to go out there and charm them. After all, it (and God, of course) has gotten me this far.”
Palin is clearly a self-starter. She probably resents all of the handling.
McCain’s campaign has been one big stunt. If she mutters and rambles during the debate, she’s gone. Earlier I speculated that he’d just put holy joe on the ticket.
How is Sarah Palin “Standing up for what’s right”. She doesn’t say s’t. She blathers incoherently.
That video is so awesome.
BT Parker is a lying GOP Hack of the first order. But she has never liked Hilary maybe she is just a self hating woman hater.
Parker should get a little more familiar with Palin’s politics:
That’s not exactly “country first”, is it?
Officials of the Alaskan Independence Party say that Palin was once so independent, she was once a member of their party, which since the 1970s has been pushing for a legal vote for Alaskans to decide whether or not residents of the 49th state can secede from the United States.
And while McCain’s motto — as seen in a new TV ad — is ‘Country First,’ the AIP’s motto is the exact opposite — ‘Alaska First — Alaska Always.’
http://www.oliverwillis.com/20…..essionist/
I know it’s been debunked, point here is Palin’s leanings are more toward Rapture Alaska as an independent country and for the “good” of which country? Like her answers to Katie and Charley, Palin is vague on this too.
Debate Update:
Per Mark Halperin–
The Arizonan leaves Washington’s Reagan National Airport headed to the site of Friday’s debate.
Joining him on his flight — his wife, Mark Salter, Rudy Giuliani and others.
Pool report: “General atmosphere is utter confusion.”
Who was on the panel?
And McCain has lost Nedra freakin’ Pickler. What a day!
Here’s another view of Palin – from Judith Warner in the Times:
Well, there’s another few minutes of my life I’ll never get back…..
That looks less like the Pickler we’ve all known and hated, and more like the lucid machinations of an editor that inserted the truth into her work for once.
I thought Kathleen was to small to be mentioned by respectable bloggers:)
“Campaign maps inside of candidate’s brain”
Palin represents an important portion of the base
Uninformed and proud of it.
Take that you elite meenies.
IIRC, Gloria Borger, Ed Rollins & Paul Begala.
Not a good sign for McCain’s, ahem, performance tonight. If Obama gets under his skin even a teensy-weensy bit, it could get very ugly.
Not that it would be a bad thing.
If Obama gets under his skin even a teensy-weensy bit, it could get very ugly.
Not that it would be a bad thing.
Oh now you’re appealing to my hopeful and optimistic side….
Problem is – McGramps has already won the Debate, or haven’t you heard?
A McCain presidency would be the ultimate reality show.
-G
Heh. Obama may as well just suspend his campaign now.
If McCain had run the Dukakis campaign, it would have gone something like this:
1) Pay the photographer a bonus for the great tank photo.
2) Run an ad on TV with Dukakis in the tank.
3) While everyone in the country is still rolling on the floor laughing, distribute copies of the ad to every reporter in the country.
4) Declare that the great tank photo has given him an overwhelming lead in the polls.
5) Make plans for a great photo-op with a dead baby seal.
6) Blame the Republicans for sending in the undercover photographer to take the evil tank photo.
Rich Lowry:
Yes — looking for the Nicholson moment, “you can’t handle the truth!”
I could use a little more fantasy than that, thank you.
How much sack would it take for Obama to open his remarks with “I don’t know if we should bother going forward because McCain has already won the Debate, or haven’t you heard?”
See this blog on that:
http://tpmcafe.talkingpointsme…..cain-m.php
(and by the way, a hat tip to FDL for helping me find that video – which says it all)
Wasn’t former Gov. Steele supposed to help McShame prepare
Ole Miss has spent $5.5 million on this. There’s nothing that McC can do to make up for putting them through this. The money, of course, was donated but that a lot of money for Mississippi, believe me.
He was but it was reported (last week?) that he was no longer helping in the prep.
If I say it it is the truth – I was a POW you know
Heh. Obama may as well just suspend his campaign now.
sshhhh – don’t give ‘em any ideas, or they’ll be putting that out there….
I’m not sorry for her. I see her as hugely ambitious, with enormous hubris. She didn’t blink when asked to be VP? It never occurred to her to wonder, even briefly, if she was unqualified? She’s an idiot, with an ego to rival the chimp’s.
HA Ha Ha This one is just hilarious! I Masturbated to Sarah Palin!
OT – Mrs. Greenspan doesn’t seem bothered by the fact that the McCrazy campaign (nor does Cilliza sp?) that McCrazy has already won the Debate.
Mrs. Greenspan, unfortunately, has made a triumphant re-entry in to The Dark Side.
This week, watching Palin and McCain in disbelief, I found myself with a stunning thought: I’d rather see the chimp stay in office, then see this deranged duo step into his place. And I cannot believe I’m thinking that.
I’m not really sorry for her either. I see her as dumb and ambitious, having angled for this herself.
Nevertheless, I love Judith Warner’s blogs. If you look back a week or two, went to a Palin rally. And was trying to comprehend the women who liked her.
Still, I find the article fascinating.
And let’s face it: Who wants to be pitied?
Palin steps down and Cheney agrees to stay on…for the good of the Nation, of course.
Yes.
But I imagine McLame blew off the prep and those who urged him to prep: “This debate’s on my specialty, foreign policy, I don’t need no stinkin’ debate prep!”
Rethuglians want as part of the”Package” reduction in Capital gains tax. Are they fucking kidding that is just another way to get the rich fucking richer! To me that IS a DEAL STOPPER!!
True. Probably not what she was going for.
No, no — she had a long conversation with the girls, since the boys were 1) going into the army and 2) a babe in arms with Downs. And they all talked about it for a long time, and then the girls said, “Go for it, mom!”
Kinda the way Florence Henderson ended up Mrs Brady.
Blergh.
I do note, though, that Joe of the Leiberman for Leiberman party is sticking awful close to McCain’s side in every photo I see lately. Just the picture of concern.
Next up: Republicans eat their young!
Sorry to be way OT, but, Has anyone seen this?
Four Alarmer. Murray Waas: Sources say Alberto Gonzales now claims that President Bush personally directed him to John Ashcroft’s hospital room in the infamous wiretap renewal incident—and that in another instance the President asked him to fabricate fictitious notes. 9/27
http://www.theatlantic.com/doc…..estigation
Just means we have to put bankruptcy back on the table, too!
Yes.
Unfortunately, the level of Bush’s depravity fails to shock me anymore.
NOW that little prick decides to talk?
-G
Joe’s with us on everything but, um, everything….
He actually remembered something?
From Peter Goodchild’s “J Robert Oppenheimer Shatterer of Worlds:”
Other sources quote it as, “I am become Shiva, Shatterer of Worlds.”
Palin has neither the honour nor integrity of Oppenheimer.
Why do the American people suffer these criminals? Just when I think I can’t be any more shocked… I am. by the sheer casualness of it all.
The wheels are flying off, and the bus is lurching over a cliff, as far as I can tell.
All that’s missing is Coulter’s bobbing adam’s apple…*g*
That’s not remotely funny, even here.
Read “Situation normal, all f*ked up.”
Palin has the intellectual depth os spit on a rock.
What gives. First Condi admits to being a war criminal, now Gonzales.
I has said before that the web of lies and deceit has finally caught up to the pikers in the Bush Admin. and they are collectively losing their minds.
Mind you, Cheney won’t ever flinch because he has a titanium heart and fridge full of infants blood to get him by….
Bush won’t buckle until the show is over. Then he’ll lose his mind now that his life is all downhill..no power, no respect, no bullying…..
-G
Correction: OF spit on a rock. Maybe she can type?
Gasbag Alert — Bubba meets Brokaw, Obama on Face, and Snuffy’s still spinnin’ why the bailout theatrics are very very good for the ol’ crapshooter so he hasn’t posted guest yet.
But did you hear that Fox cut the mike of someone who brought up Keating 5…
Bush has to have something out there so can pardon it
Usually I disregard what Ed Rollins says but last night he said that clearly Palin has lost her confidence. If anyone has ever gone into a job interview for a position one thinks that he or she is probably not qualified for but hopes to make a big impression by pulling a rabbit out of a hat, you can understand how Palin must feel going into an interview.
As Capeheart just said on MSNBC, if there was one question she should have been able to answer it was the Russia question. But how could one defend such an absurd assertion? The fact is, one can’t. The only answer would have been to own up to the fact that it was a talking point that can’t be defended.
“Utter confusion” is putting it mildly. This McC campaign is run worse than any city council campaign I have ever seen. Isn’t it interesting that in the same year we get to see the worst campaign ever and the very best? The contrast cannot be lost on people.
indeed
Not losing their minds. They are just starting to worry about a world in which they do not control the AG.
didn’t he already lie to Congress about that one – or did he just fail to recall remembering?
So many lies, it’s hard to keep ‘em straight.
I’ll say it again:
McCain-Palin: Putting the FU in FUBAR day after day.
http://warner.blogs.nytimes.co…..8;emc=eta1
This is an interesting perspective on Palin.
Understatement of the millennium from a Repug spinmeister re Palin’s Russia answer.
“You can’t hit every one out of the park.”
Four big polls have Obama leading by 3 or 4 points. Looking good.
If the Queen of Mean and her toady McSFB keep talking we ought to see a 3 or 4 point bump every week until November. These people couldn’t pour piss out of a boot with directions written on the heel.
Even GAllup and Rasmussen have him up and he has a huge lead in Michigan. TPM reports
If y’all are feeling lonely, it may be because Spencer Ackerman posted a new post to the front page about 15 minutes ago.
I was wondering is Biden going to use Tina Fey for debate prep
Oops, too late! Egregious just posted another new post at 11:32.
I’m sorry, you have misquoted Ms Parker, and taken her statement ut of context. The full quote is:
“She can bow out for personal reasons, perhaps because she wants to spend more time with her newborn. John McCain should step out and leave his suit behind. An empty suit would make a better president than John McCain”
I actually heard he is using the Gov. from Michigan….
Well folks no need to watch the debate tonight:
McCain Wins Debate
Although the fate of tonight’s presidential debate in Mississippi remains very much up in the air, John McCain has apparently already won it — if you believe an Internet ad an astute reader spotted next to this piece in the online edition of the Wall Street Journal this morning.
“McCain Wins Debate!” declares the ad which features a headshot of a smiling McCain with an American flag background. Another ad spotted by our eagle-eyed observer featured a quote from McCain campaign manager Rick Davis declaring: “McCain won the debate– hands down.”
Just now from Ed Schultz, Air America:
McCain Camp insiders say Palin “clueless”
Capitol Hill sources are telling me that senior McCain people
are more than concerned about Palin. The campaign has held
a mock debate and a mock press conference; both are being described as “disastrous.” One senior McCain aide was quoted as saying, “What are we going to do?” The McCain people want to move this first debate to some later, undetermined date, possibly never. People on the inside are saying the Alaska Governor is “clueless.”
