Apparently,there is no limit on raising State money after receiving public funds. Someone explained to me a few days ago that money can still be raised for attack ads as long as they are against the Democrats…just not Obama alone. I think I got that right…way too many post to read from this week to double check.

She and McCain can fundraise for the Republican National Committee (and I believe contributions are unlimited - or maybe $50K)…which then can launder the money back into the McCain-Palin campaign provided that TV Ads or other materials contain some reference to a local Congressional or State race. Money can help fund “joint appearances” by McCain with Elizabeth Dole, for example.

Actually, if McCain-Palin do stop their fundraisers then that could affect the NRC, which could impact their local campaigns as well. But I heard that they had sort of stopped Palin appearing at these “closed door” events, anyway, to focus on her making these “softball” interviews with Hannity and Couric…and to try and infalte the idea that there was crowd intensity and energy back in the campaign.

I was about to suggest that Obama suggest that the CPD change the topics for the debate from “Foreign Policy” to “Economic Issues”. But it seems that had largely already occurred!

Obama should point this out in his remarks after the meeting on Friday…and at the “debate”. This really WAS a chance for the candidates to bring their differences before the public. McCain knew he had to wriggle out of that debate, especially with his plunging poll numbers.
