hey ct, better duck
boing boing c a n n o n b a l l
ker-splash
*glug*
Hey, Suz
Whoo-hoo!!! Divin’s back in style!
EPUed. Again.
Can someone explain to me the worst case scenario if we don’t do anything at all? Because the big Doomsday Scenario that everyone is talking about is that no one will ever be willing to lend anyone any money ever again. I just don’t see that happening. It looks to me like the problem is that a lot of banks gambled their money in the housing market and went bust, so they simply don’t have money left to lend. I find it hard to believe that there won’t be anyone else on the planet willing to lend money to Americans if these institutions all disappear. Furthermore, if the government really needs to throw $700 billion into the economy, why not just make $700 billion worth of loans to the people who supposedly can’t get any money? You could even dictate the terms of the loans, like “You have to actually be able to pay this money back.”
Delta and Northwest merge!
therein lays the unanswered question frankp – what happens
…Towel, please…!
One thing for certain – Paulson’s buds don’t get the
liferaftpayoff they are counting on.uh ct, most people get the towel and then change their outfit
Meanwhile we are inching closer to an actual shooting war against Pakistan.
Does anyone remember when Bush claimed that he didn’t take action in Darfur was because it was a Muslim nation and he was already fighting in two Muslim nations?
-G
gotta link?
hey gsd – did i hear correcty that pakistan and the us were engaged in a day long shooting at each other?
last i heard, that was referred to as a battle in a war
1) Why’d ya think the deal’s off?
2) This thing ain’t over yet.
Shareholders give go-ahead to combine Delta, Northwest
Shareholders of Delta Air Lines Inc. and of Northwest Airlines Corp. gave the go-ahead Thursday to a combination that would create the world’s biggest carrier, deciding that in their volatile industry they like their chances better together than on their own.
The stock-swap deal, announced April 14, still requires Justice Department approval. One other potential hurdle is a federal lawsuit seeking to block the deal. It is set for trial Nov. 5 in San Francisco.
Digg it!
Looks like I’m going to have access to a computer and the Web while away from home this week. Don’t know how often I will be able to make it to Late Late Nite, though.
thanks hmmm
another one bites the dust
hey neuro … nice to see ur fonts. how goes?
Me live 2 surv.
The gift, she just keeps on giving.
gimme gimme gimme
Done Dugg it
hey nahant – didn’t you have a doc apt today?
Hey Suz – yesterday Lindsay had a scoop on the fact that Rick Davis was still listed as an officer of Davis Manafort as of yesterday. Today I see Newsweek is yakking up the story but didn’t hear a credit to Lindsay. What’s up with that?
Most clicked on story on ABC 15 news….
1 charge dropped for man accused of farting on officer
Assets or equity; nobody gets bailed out for free.
Nude man falls to his death after police tazer him to prevent him from jumping.
I supposed they dropped the DUI and left the ‘assault on an officer’. Tee Hee.
lokywoky, that low-life pond scum sucking ‘reporters’ don’t like to acknowledge the hard work of something so beneath them as a mere blogger
at least, that is my opinion
spew
That worked really well. Not.
Good to hear, I read about that yesterday.
Sorry I asked. Kinda thought it wuz somethin’ like that.
how’s everyone doing tonight?
my ire is at them – not the question loky
they would never stiff someone they considered an equal
Exactly. I believe in trickle-up economics. Give the money to the poor and let the rich compete for it. That really creates jobs.
An’ I was all set to do the ‘yee ha!’ for Lindsay when they said it.
‘very sad face’
I know you meant it at them Suz. I was just sorry I got you so upset. I kind of figured it was them being scuz-bags but always a little hope???
it always helps me turn my sad face upside down when i write a letter to the ‘reporter’ asking why they did give an attribution.
with a cc to their editor
and a cc to the publisher
Oh dear, I thought you meant the Black Flag song at first! Have a personal connection there…
FORK.. why they did NOT give an attribution
jeez, louise, i’m sorry about that
One of the prostitutes involved in that weird Nazi themed S&M orgy with the racing guy turns out to be the wife of an MI5 surveillance operative.
Ah yes, but we don’t want to help out the people who are REALLY responsible for this meltdown – all those irresponsible black people and minority people who tricked those poor innocent bankers into giving them huge loans for these dorky little tract houses that they weren’t supposed to be able to afford to buy.
Just ask Neil Cavuto – he’ll tell you.
It has been very interesting to see the local news here in Phoenix….. they never said anything directly BAD about McCain but boy what they implied was pretty deep….and they interviewed local business people and they were not happy with the repugs and McCain……
the brits have the best sex scandals – its practically an art form
wanna share?
Good. Drove 600 miles in 11 hours today. Didn’t even get sleepy (but I am now).
How are you, Suz?
“Old Europe.”
Clown college releases nude clown calendar.
Evening Suz!
yep No Chemoembolization on the 3rd get a MRI in two to three weeks and keep a watch to make sure things stay stable. Good news but staying alert and cautious to make sure. Then monthly blood work ups and more MRIs in the future. So all in all good news for now:>)
as my typo to keystroke ratio indicates, a wee bit tired. busy day today – getting ready to move next week to the new place
alicia – how goes
i started reading your book on the drive down to pick up my critters but haven’t had a chance to get back into it. am liking what i’m reading and how its written tho
nice to see ya again
For you? I used to be in a band. Some of our records resulted in interesting legal actions. We did a cover of that song. As a backhanded salute to its writer. It may not have been the single most respectful cover version of any song ever recorded.
More than that, I daren’t say.
no chemo is great forking news dood
Here’s one of the asinine proposals the House Repugs offered…
Good question…
*laughing* *trying to put back on best innocent look*
i wonder how that happened hannibal
whew
ok
Budding comedy writers just waiting to break into showbiz.
Really they want to direct.
That particular one is 100 kinds of weird. Makes David Vitter look downright dull by comparison. Nazi S&M, head of Formula One, and now one of the hookers is the wife of a spy. We’re lucky to get one, or maybe two of those in one scandal, but all of it? Never. I blame our puritanical roots.
Can’t be too careful of “undesirables.”
looks like charmin to me
Dam right it is!! At least for now I can be reasonably optimistic that there is a brighter future than I thought I had(:>))
OMG Letterman is on fire tonight…..
I am TVless. Is there a way to watch that on the Internet?
Yeah – that’s one of McCain’s pet projects. I don’t think the capital gains thingy was strictly aimed at the bankrupt banks though. He is the captain of deregulation and he and his cronies would dearly love to eliminate the capital gains tax altogether. On everything. For ever more.
Nothing like seizing the moment. We should be ever vigilant during this crisis. Naomi Klein has been around warning everyone that this is the “Shock” of the Shock Doctrine. Under it’s guise, watch out for social security privatization, medicare and medicaid restructuring, cuts in Head Start and Wic, and all kinds of other stuff that people would be absolutely up in arms about under any other circumstances.
Eyes Open!!!
Just wait for C&L to have the youtubs out there…..
don’t go too fast but i go pretty far
they just pull them out of their respective ASSES! Where the hell else do ya think they get them??
Ok, thought the naked clown calendar might’ve been some kind of BS story, turns out it’s legit. Not only are they naked clowns, but they actually graduated from a real clown college.
!Todos Unidos!
oh crap, i’ve not heard that song in years… dayam, that makes me smile
there goes my grumpy mood… wait, its a remix… its back, thanks margot (laughing)
McCain made a big mistake dissing Letterman. To quote someone else: “Letterman has a huge audience, they are all very intelligent, and they are also very devoted to Letterman.”
McCain isn’t just trying to lose this election is he?
hey jacqrat how goes
eliminate the inheritance tax and capital gains tax….. the only income of the trust fund set…… and of course America is having a financial crisis, money is tight and McCain was to reduce revenues to the treasury…… AND also cut corporate taxes ….
“Legit” and “clown” in the same sentence is very nice, can I just say.
all we need is a car in there and all hell will break loose
“Tax cuts for the rich solve all.”
These people are truly dumber than dog dung.
Particularly, Social Security, considering the first of the Baby Boomers are starting to become eligible for benefits and the current workforce is smaller than that bubble…!
ct, he’s flip flopped so much i can’t remember – was mccain in favor of privatizing social security?
Good to be back, Suz – now that the dang thing is officially here, it’s time to come back out from under my rock…I have pretty much disappeared from everything but work, work, work. So now it’s ‘re-connect’ time. And what a time, huh? The free-market madmen have come to the logical conclusion of their beloved theory.
Watched “Sing’ in the Rain” the other night, and may I just note that Donald O’Connor == genius of physical comedy. Despite absence of clown makeup.
After all that’s happened, they still feel enslaved by Grover.
And I hope they can never break free. He is their albatross, and they are welcome to his sorry ass.
21 naked clowns packed into one of those little clown cars? Now that’s scary.
If he claims he wasn’t, then he probably was
letterman
Where’s Mary Mac when you need her?
Anti-trust – an archaic concept.
20 minutes on Dave Letterman making McCain look like a buffoon…..ah oh…. it continues……
I think McCain just said “thanks but no thanks” to a $700 Billion tax payer funded bailout of wall street. It doesn’t really matter that the alternative (which is costless) is nonsense. If the sucker goes down, it will probably go down slowly enough (because it is already tanking) that it won’t be as imagined. The democrats need to wake up to the politics and not be so trusting of their own earnestness which is not translating all that well.
Yeah, but that’s just an excuse. Social Security ran in deficit two other times I think. And it was because of boomlets and other demographic factors but that is built into the actuarial calculations and always has been.
The numbers for when it will run out of money are presented every five years by the Social Security Actuaries (a requirement of the Fund). They are very conservative in their estimates. They have been wrong every single time in their estimates. Their estimates have always been wrong in the conservative direction – that is, the Fund always has way more money in it than they say will be there.
So the way to think about it is when ‘they’ say SS will run out of money in 2041 or whatever – that means it will be at least 10-15 more years. If nothing changes.
The only thing that should change IMHO is to raise or eliminate the cap on the payroll tax. Someone who makes $150,000 per year actually pays less as a percentage than someone making $40,000. And that just ain’t fair!
Oh yeah – very much so. Except for about three months ago when he was really against it.
But then about two weeks later, he said the funding mechanism was a disgrace and it had to be stopped.
I haven’t heard whether he flopped again after that one.
only 21?
hey spurious – how goes? long time no see
Lindsay is working mighty hard for us. So pleased she got photos from Wall St, though disappointed the crowd was so small.
Obviously the solution to the coming Social Security shortfall is simply to evict the undeserving poor, sell them, and invest the proceeds.
hey suz – lurking away. how are the new digs?
in my book, that means we blame him
Actually, I coulda sworn the cap was $88,000 or so… I certainly agree that raising the cap to $250,000 would make it solvent well into the distant future…!
the temp vacation rental is fine – the new place i move into next week
didja see the pics over at my place – ya gotta scroll down to find em but it is pretty forking special eye candy
Reading (and loving!) the autobiography of the other Janis (Ian) right now. Lots of appearances of Joplin, Springsteen, Joel, Odetta, Ella, Jimi, and many other luminaries. If you want to learn how the music bidness can break a musician, read “Society’s Child.”
i think its a start. we’ve not had any protests for quite a while – almost as if there was a moratorium or something…
the peoples are pissed
oh teddy, that sounds like a wonderful book
How very true. There should be NO cap so that everyone pays the same percentage!!
Good news! Thanks for sharing.
the cap is around that rang….. the two things that corks me…. McCain getting 100% VA disability, his senate salary AND Social Security payments……..
Vets who collect VA disability and Social Security Disability take a hit…. one gets reduced……
Well…. way into 30 minutes of Letterman slamming McCain…..
Details on the WaMu failure:
A factsheet from the OTS (PDF) has a lot of interesting points on recent WaMu history. Especially,
That sounds like a bank run to me.
That’s how many naked clowns are in the calendar.
Let this be the end of the unseen-hand job.
ooh, pretty! when’s the housewarming party?
WSJ
Letterman harbors a grudge for awhile, eh? My wife and I watched Letterman last nite, an extreme rarity for us and we were rolling…! Every chance he had he stuck a shiv in McSame…!
Repub study group is a scary bunch.
haven’t planned one
its my lets see if suzanne can really handle winter on the oregon coast place. if i decide to stay, i’ll have to plan one.
i hope his ratings shot through the roof last night. i’m looking forward to switching over to watch it when tds is over.
(wicked evil laugh) i’m gonna make popcorn
just give us a couple of weeks’ notice!
(off to bed, yawning)
will do – g’nite spurious
nite suz, night all
Nine minutes long . . . some GREAT footage at about 4:40 in . . . and a WHOLE new twist on what the Monterey Pops Fest was all about, and what Big Brother was all about:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKcsJptYWKo
I saw Janis, with Big Brother, at the San Carlos ‘Circle Star Theatre’ when I was what, 13? ‘66 or ‘67? My big sister had to take me . . . *G* I’ll never forget how they tore up ‘Blind Man’.
To this day . . . I think Big Brother and the music they did with Janis was some of the best. After words, too pop for me . . . and that clip above? It speaks of the hippie vibe, the beliefs, and the thoughts of some who thought . . . SF did it better.
And I’m one, long these days, who still thinks that. *G*
Match Janis doing Ball N Chain with Big Brother? Or Summertime, against ‘Try’?
I guess, it MAY be a tossup . . . but only cuz production values changed . . . but then, I saw her when . . .*G*
Hell of a pick Suz!!! *G*
Thanks for reminding me of TDS, he just stuck a shiv in McSame…! “You coulda walked to DC in that time frame…!” ;-)
according to the latimes blog, a bank run forced the feds hands on wamu
Aloha, Spurious!
Here’s Summertime, with Big Brother.
You can’t touch this. *G*
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTFF-BaT0MM
thanks dood – i was thinking of ball and chain from monterey but… this went better with the krugman link that everyone ignored (laughing)
Fork. Bank run. This is bad. Very bad.
Nice to see uniformed cops v riot cops there. Guess nobody wanted photos of those dudes on Wall St (maybe worth keeping in mind).
Thank you very much the rethuglians and Bushco. Many Vets are still being denied medical benefits because they instituted a means test and set the bar so low 26K that many Vets are denied if they hadn’t already signed up by 2002! In 2003 they started turning away all new Vets from Vietnam if they had that much income and for those who had already been enrolled instituted co- payments.
They really SUPPORT the TROOPS! That is until they get out then they are thrown away like so much trash!!
its so hard to tell a billionaire from the rabble these days – better safe than sorry (/s)
Yep….. the VA takes really good care of my Dad….. but not my mother who is also a WWII Vet……. BUT she was not in combat and did not have combat wounds……
The FICA cap is currently set at 107,000. That was only recently (within the last three years) raised. It was at 97,000 for almost forever. Of course when SS was started – 97,000 was an unheard of wage.
Heading off to bed…… good night everyone
g’nite katymine
My brother served 4 years in the Air Force during Vietnam era but because he waited to long to sign up he was denied because he was making more than the 26K! He lives outside Boston and at 26k you could barley rent a place let alone own one.
night Katy… sleep well (:>))
nite katymine
Yeah, and get this. A 100% VA Disability pension (like the one McCain gets) makes me puke in his case. Does he look 100% disabled? Usually 100% disabled is a person who is bedridden, cannot work, has lost multiple limbs (McClelland anyone?), permanent and completely disabling traumatic brain injury, 90% burns over their entire body, (I’m just describing common injuries of vets coming home from Iraq – the ones that McShame voted no on increasing their medical benefits for.
Gag.
And a VA pension – don’t make me laugh. It’s currently sitting at $1,021 per month. And if you earn any money at all, that number is reduced dollar for dollar.
Double-gag.
anyone have any guesses what the friday nite news dump is gonna be tomorrow nite?
i figure the way this week has gone, its gotta be a doozy
“Breaking: Addington ships the country in flight from subpoena.”
Letterman carries grudges for years. Just ask Oprah. She didn’t even know they had a feud but he would take off and rant on her every once in a while. She finally went on his show – and I guess it’s finally over – but 10 years long…
I love the sound of that.
Rachel had on tonight the guy who directed “Taxi to the Dark Side,” and she was talking about the need for justice.
Exactly. I was lucky. They were having a ‘recruitment’ of women vets in the late 90s and I signed up then and then didn’t use the VA much because I had good insurance and stuff.
But then I got sick, had a bunch of surgeries, and lost my job and insurance of course. Wound up with the VA. They have treated me well. Sometimes I think they have wasted money on me and it makes me mad when I see guys who were on the ground in Nam who are being turned away now. I pitch a fit every so often, and I’ve actually had a couple of docs thank me for refusing tests and procedures that were totally unnecessary or that would not change the treatment no matter what the outcome.
The actual care vets get in the system is for the most part excellent. It’s just the rules of access that are such a pain in the a**. And most of that is because of Congress’ sorry butts.
But not McCain… something smells fishy. Oh I forgot he is/was an Admirals son… oh yeah he also was allowed to continue to fly after crashing 4 jets!!
Can you spell “Special Treatment”?
letterman starts off with a zinger!!! i’m your friend dave and no one cancelled tonight.
crashed 4 and iirc, there was a 5th that was iffy
hi Suze & Pups! Home from work early enough that i could drop by … i was disappointed that there was no big Friday news dump today until i realized that working 4/10’s makes Thursday night my friday, and why the heck isn’t the world cooperating with my reality? *g*
ndfg! how goes grrlll?
You mean rethuglian controlled congress and the senate, oh and throw in the president… Vets screwed!! I am also lucky I signed up before they changed the rules by about six months!! I feel very lucky!!
yes..no..yes…no…and that has been his position. I think this week he is pro privitization…
iirc that was the one he got shot down in but ya know he should have dodged that missile that got him!! /s
Actually #5 was his shoot-down over North Vietnam.
The one he ‘crashed’ on the way to an Army-Navy game is the ‘iffy’ one. He claimed a flame-out. Tried to re-start three times and then bailed. It’s awfully hard to prove that one after the fact. Just his word against the pile of twisted and burning metal in the side of the mountain.
One was when he was being a jerk and acting against direct orders. Tried to hot-dog and fly under some high-voltage wires. Missed and hit the wires. Killed some people on the ground. Got a paper reprimand when anyone else would have had a court-martial and been discharged. Dishonorably.
…well, with Mercury retrograde in Libra, the sign of the balancing scales, we will either get no deal or a bad deal.
More likely the bad deal…which we can blame on mccain…
hey, glad to see ya made it upstairs with us
as far as linking goes, keep slogging away at it – practice does make it easier and pretty soon you will be a link wiz
Yup. And his broken arms came from him not being in proper position during the ejection. His own stupid fault. Duh!
hey spidey – i sure like blaming mccain
he owns this now that his parachuting into dc to save the day fucked up the ‘deal’
Admirals son ya know they WERE WAR heroes John not so much. If he hadn’t been shot down no one would be paying him any attention…
Problem is, the incredibly politically tone-deaf Pelosi & Reid are somewhat involved in delivering that message.
I am not confident that they can deliver it, and that’s presuming they see the opportunity right in front of them.
Yup! And most particularly that f**king idiot bush put in charge of the VA. Again – not qualified for the job of running the biggest health care institution in the country.
The guy Clinton appointed actually had a background in public health and hospital administration and good stuff – plus he was a disabled vet himself.
That’s why the actual care at the VA is so good. And I’m really glad the Rethugs weren’t able to destroy that – as much as they would have like to.
don’t mean i still can’t blame him for it now that he’s interjected himself into the problem. he owns it as far as i am concerned
Night Pups going to watch Letterman roast McCain and I am hoping McCain comes out WELL DONE… ya know like toast!!
Sleep Well when you get there!!
Killin me, Suz . . . his trip to DC and suspending his campaign is #6.
A reverse ace, plus one. *G*
And he’s dyin. Stage 4. Even without med records revealed, it’s obvious.
But then, so is the GOP. Our financial system, and the 1% are dyin too.
And they don’t deserve a decent burial, either.
Dinosaurs, meet Meteor.
*G*
g’nite nahant
Great news!!!!!!!!!
I’m with you there.
There was a time when Dems could deliver the mail. They need to find that again. McCheese is ready to be laid open. Well past time.
night nahant. Cheers for the good news!
hey suze! it goes good … i am finally a full-time employee at a good company. Health, vacation, etc etc. Saw piccies of your lovely new cottage on the coast, i’m so pleased for you!
I am going to try buying a magnifying glass. I am so slow that you were gone..left a comment about my eye…Adies Topic Pupil. It distorts my vision and I have a hard time distinguishing the letters of the urls. Very frustrating I must say. I am going to be bald soon from ripping my hair out.
Next time they move to privatize (or in any way impair) SS, first counter move should be demanding elimination of the cap and inclusion of all bonuses.
Everyone who was on Rachel and Ko tonight was raving about how stupid McCain was and that he was almost singlehandedly responsible for trashing the agreement.
Most of those people don’t just appear on these two shows – they write or talk on other networks and in other print and internet media. The word is going out – maybe not from Pelosi and Reid but from a lot of others. Chris Dodd had smoke coming out of his ears. I’m no fan of Rahm either but he had some pretty harsh things to say as well.
Obama even commented that “sometimes – and this is one of them – you can see that it’s better not to have politics injected into a situation like this” (I’m paraphrasing but you get the drift.)
use your right click on your mouse to copy and then paste the url – you may find that you don’t need a magnifying glass doing it that way
Not just bonuses – all income, from any source at all, should be treated the same as wages.
This should be true for the basic tax code as well. Currently wages are taxed at much higher rates than income and dividends and other kinds of stuff like that. If you actually WORK for a living you pay the freight now, and if you sit around and push a pencil you get a free or almost free ride.
Someone please tell me how McCain could make such a mess out of the bail out? Nobody has been paying attention to him before today. Why now??? He has no ideas. No plan.
Well I reckon some leaker pre-empted what OTS was cooking up for us.
go into ’settings’ on your computer and display, and change the font size for your display. It will be larger on everything. Might make it interesting how things fit on the screen but easier to read anyway.
if, and only if every source was treated that way – no gaming of income to be considered capital gains instead of income, no deferement of income unless its to a 401k or pension plan type of deal. then, sure, go ahead and treat that measly $130/month i get from the city to cover my medical insurance as income. since that does not cover the cost of the insurance, does that mean i get to deduct the difference on my income taxes?
Mc Cain is hospitalized in a unknown location (psych ward) and it is now a Palin/Lieberman ticket.
hey protrated – tomorrow is gonna be ‘interesting’
mary mcc – i was thinking of you earlier – how goes the coding?
Assets or equity!
Time for me to crash out.
G’nite all.
Saw it all.
But self-respecting leaders would never be caught in a photo-op with that schmuck the way our party’s Congressional ‘leaders’ were today. They would be in a position to dictate terms and drive this crisis management because the President has zero – no – nada moral or policy authority.
As good as KO and Rachel are, they aren’t in Congress.
Mary, there was already a divide in the Rethug party on this bail-out. The really conservative ones, led by Bachus of Alabama didn’t like this thing at all and really wanted to scrap it and start over with their own proposal.
Anyway, McCain spoke up just as the ‘presidential meeting’ was almost over and threw down basically their proposal. Everyone else in the room erupted into a fit. Obama apparently tried to calm the mess down and asked Paulson if the new proposal would work and Paulson said absolutely not.
Meeting ended with almost everyone pissed off at McCain for opening his fat mouth.
BTW, the proposal McCain supports is more deregulation, and tax breaks for big corporations.
hahahahaha!!!
g’nite wigwam
he owns this now that his parachuting into dc to save the day fucked up the ‘deal’
[Sigh] I guess FFJ will just have to wait. (a little ytube)
(Note from the comments that various minds are running in similar circles.)
I have decided to accept that my brain does not work that way and let go of any attempt at coding. Me make pretty pictures instead.
Ha! devils and details. This is where it always gets interesting. Right now, your ‘payment’ for insurance is not treated as income. The amount that I pay for ‘premiums’ on medicare is deductible from income. So neither one is taxable under the current scheme.
“My” proposal is not to change any of that stuff – just make all types of income (including the ones you mentioned) taxable at the same rates as wages. Which they are not now.
Okay?
ohmystars
the comments are amazing… reading them while andy’s doing mighty mouse… priceless
Yea. They should have said that there is a crisis a foot and couldn’t spare any time to go visit Zippy The Clown.
that works :)
very pretty indeed mary mcc
I will have to get help from my neighbor on that one. I right clicked and then I was lost! Copy and paste are on the list, but there I sit. My knowledge of the computer is charitably called minimal! Thanks for the advice…we’ll see how it goes. Can’t get much worse anyways!
Why thank you very much, mam.
don’t be afraid to ask – the lake’s pups love to help folks learn how to do stuff.
its pretty easy to do and we are very patient
will try…I didn’t know print size could be changed..thanks…
Are you Mac or PC, bluebutterfly?
Yes,I know..eCAHNomics told me how to do links. I sat here for an hour trying to figure out what highlight meant!
I have come from zero to a 3, I think.
Basic problem is that I don’t understand what the words of instruction from people mean. So, I will wait until my neighbor is back in town. She is good at computer stuff. Easier if she is physically showing me. But thanks again for all the help offered.
i always welcome questions, bluebutterfly, about how to do something. if i don’t have the answer (i’m self taught on computers) we have several patient pups who will have the answer.
its hard learning the basis but you got the important part down. you know how to get to the lake and you comment. i’d say that puts you above a 3.
Barney Frank on McCain’s help…
http://movies.crooksandliars.c…..ailout.wmv
it has been a late late nite tradition to be explaining computer stuff. newton has most of the mac answers since he’s a mac user. nahant is a pc kinda guy and has those answers or knows where to find it out.
From Thomas Frank at the Wall Street Journal:
Hey! Lindsay just got a great H/T over at C&L for her reporting on Rick Davis. Yay!
sweet. thanks loky
here’s the link to the c/l piece
I remember learning how to copy and paste. How frustrating! but how very rewarding when I finally learned.:) You’ll get there.
Remember the good old days when Bush would say something absolutely stupid and we all got to laugh for days about it? (i.e. our childrens is learning).
Well, with Sarah Palin it’s not just more of the same. It’s more. and more. and more. Until your head explodes trying to make any sense at all of what she just said. Example above.
Fuel for the why we don’t like John bonfire…if the link works…

Citizen Suzanne and the Firepup Freedom Fighters:
We’re gettin’ after it again here all night so keep us high steppin’ Sister Suzanne…great music ta work the night shift. I’m surprised any of you “youngsters” still know who “The Pearl” was…great stuff!!
And didn’t the Norske tell ya that there wasn’t gunna be a complete give away with the bailout…it looks like ol’ Uncle Karl Rove coached McCrazy with some political jujitsu and the poor bastard is trippin over his own damned feet!
The real story here is the leadership on the Democratic side, Reid and Pelosi are statues, the real players are Dodd an dBarney Frank and Sherrod Brown…even our friend Stenny is havin a tough time gettin any attention.
This final attempt at a $trillion payoff for the bastards ta go away ain’t ahppenin…and the fascists in the House and the McCrazy campaign are gunna take the fall for it.
Obama is lookin mighty “presidential” through this mess.
KEEP THE FAITH AND PASS THE AMMUNITION, THESE BASTARDS ARE GUNNA NEED TA BE ESCORTED OUT!!
Home from work.
The bad news is that young Max Blumenthal is headed out tonight, back to the lower 48. The good news is that firedoglake’s David Neiwart is coming up over the weekend to carry on and develop Max’s work and contacts.
Awesome!
I know that there are Mac users here. I use Firefox on my old beastie here.Firefox updated itself today and I read that it had resolved Mac specific issues. That might interest someone out there…
Citizen ET:
Great things happenin’ up there Brother Teller? Is the old Republican establishment gunna boot Palin’s nasty ass outta office when she comes home after November? Please tell me that the folks up there are gettin tired of her act!
hey norske – of course i know who pearl was… we lost so many young = jimi, otis, jim, janis – their deaths changed music just as they changed music when alive
i aint a youngster norkse – although my oldest says i’m a 17 year old trapped in an old woman’s body
2.0.0.17. I DLoaded it, too. Stable.
forking awesome, et! dang, you must have one hella guest room (/s)
Someone please tell me how McCain could make such a mess out of the bail out?
Might be an unintended consequence of a stupid opportunistic scheme to delay/eliminate Palin’s debate.
Perhaps he never intended to interject himself at this level, but scorn/skepticism of his delay ploy drove him to it. Whatever, he’s stirred up a hornets now with Bohner et al in the game.
well, eyelids are needing toothpicks so off to zzz land.
g’nite loky
time for me to head out also, pups. thanks for hanging out with me tonight.
g’nite all
Freedom’s just another word for nothing left to lose..one of Janis’s great lines. The world has lost so many talented people because of drugs. F..k the CIA..the world’s biggest traffickers of the poison. And you can guess what I think of POPPY Bush.
Citizen Norske!
We’ll win. Just as I’ve been chronicling, Saradise IS lost. I predict impeachment hearings in early February. If not that, then possibly a recall petition in mid-February.
I also predict that most of her appearances during the reminder of the 2008 presidential campaign will be at mega-churches, as they seek to televise her from mega-church to mega-church, counting on those people as being her main base, and the rest of th US population too appalled to even want to hear more of her nonsense.
Suzanne – two guest rooms – one waiting for your Alaska trip, dear. When it comes time to cuff Sarah, it will be your job…
nite suz
Citizen ET:
Keep the heat on the bastards up there Brother Ed…and I agree with you that Palin is gunna disappear onto the mega-church psychiatric circut and if she’s able ta get enough time with those folks she could do some real damage in terms of gettin the crazy vote out…those damned covens in the mega churches command a lotta cannon fodder at election time.
I can’t wait until the little town I live in on the edge of nowhere – Wasilla – gets back to being the nowhere we always wanted it to continue to be…
nite suzanne
Attaturk is upstairs!
