Per AP article, it’s Barak Obama:

“Additionally, Democrats want to allow bankruptcy judges to rewrite mortgages to ease the burden on consumers who are facing foreclosure.

Speaking to reporters Wednesday, Obama said the provision was a priority, but one that he would be willing to sacrifice in the interest of a BIPARTISAN deal.

He said he told Pelosi and Reid, that the measure ‘is probably something that we should NOT try to do in this legislation.’ “

Barak Obama has spoken to the party leadership on behalf of “bipartisanship.”

There will BE no amendment on behalf of the little guys’ mortgages.

I too knew that we basically had WaterIranContraIraqGate revisited with this crew, but had missed Paulson’s close involvement.

Wouldn’t have helped me any, but it might have made for a good selling point somewhere.
