“If true, this capitulation by Democrats following months of Republican pressure is a big victory for Americans struggling with record gasoline prices,” said House GOP leader John Boehner of Ohio.

Democrats had clung to the hope of only a partial repeal of the drilling moratorium, but the White House had promised a veto, Obey said.

Sarah will be ready on day one to run the shadow government.

Teddy! Had a strange experience this evening. The Lamda Alliance had a local sexologist and sex therapist (she is also the person who teaches our human sexuality course) talk about bisexuality for their meeting and I went to hear her. Thought she looked familiar and it turns out she had been one of my students years ago. She then informed me that my course was the reason she decided to follow her chosen career path. Here I thought the line about “corrupting and warping young minds” was just a joke.

As for her image as an anti-corruption crusader, Munger said she’s much more apt to get rid of anyone who crosses her.

Munger, who writes the Progressive Alaska blog, told me Palin is not just a creationist, but a “young Earth” creationist who believes that man and dinosaurs once shared the planet, and that the world will end in her lifetime.

Lou Dobbs this week (I watched so you don’t have to) has been on a tear about liberal media’s shabby treatment towards Caribou Barbie.
He debunked the rape kit story using a statement from a Palin aide as proof that Palin wasn’t on the wrong side of that one. No mention of the Alaska legislature passing a law to prevent charging rape kits to victims or their insurance companies. A law that was passed because of ONE TOWN.
It’s as bad as his immigration rants. The man is in the tank for her.

I saw something on this. Apparently they asked the City Clerk to check back on records to see if anyone was ever billed for the rape-kits. Turns out the records were only retained back to 2000. The State law requiring cities to pay for rape kits themselves, and banning charges to women or their insurance providers, took force in May 2000. So at least we know that for six months Wasilla didn’t charge (or ask) any woman to pay for the kits. The other 48 women who were sexually assaulted earlier in Palin’s tenure…well who knows?

Some people are saying that this somehow means that these sexual assaults were not “rapes”….but apparently they don’t realise that rape kits are used in a whole variety of sexual assaults OTHER THAN rapes.

And one more point. Apparently there was discussion about this issue with someone in financial authority, since there was a change in policy from asking women to pay directly for the tests…to one in which their insurance company would be billed by Wasilla. That suggests to me that there was either an “incident” or someone who experienced the policy and complained…resulting in the Sheriff speaking with their “superior” and getting the policy changed to bill the health care provider. Wanna guess who that “higher up” would have been????

Breaking…Wall Streeet is issuing rape kits to all taxpayer for the screwing were getting…by the way it was announced today at the Board of Supervisors public comment period the bail out will cost the county residents $600 million.

Also, since the ‘rape kits’ are purchased and stocked by the hospital, examining the Wasilla City Records doesn’t really show you whether any ‘rapes’ happened during that time. If they didn’t pay for any kits – that doesn’t mean anything happened.

It would be more instructive to examine hospital ER billing records and interview the ER docs to see how many women came in and when presented with the fact that they were going to have to pay for this, declined.

By the way Suzanne…look out the window is that white van is parked outside. Better get out the coffee and donuts and give em a coffee break. s

Wonderful. Yesterday I posted over at Marcy’s that I hoped another rally would happen. I also hoped that an additional rally would demand for the legislature to return now and address the Troopergate.

I know I am in the lower forty-eight, but the truth on Palin’s lack of ethics and power grabs need to see daylight before the election. This is an important time for Alaskans to stand up on behalf of the nation to protect democracy.
