G’morning,Siun!
I can’t escape the feeling of rapid descent (like on a free-falling elevator). I wish I could wake up from this crazy dream.
Digg/strong> it!
OT – Upstate New York has signs saying “NO GAS!” at stations everywhere. Any comments? Elsewhere?
I’ve always said that Bush has been creating the next Saddam Husein in Pakistan for years. Unfortunately this guy will have real nuclear weapons.
This action inside Pakistan is a distraction fomented by Mossad and the CIA. The bigger picture will include activities in both Iran and the US which will be said to be actions committed by “Al Qaeda” – which is just another name for the CIA and Mossad.
See 9/11 for a perfect example of their many collaborations.
Hmmmmm:

EPU’d from last thread re; your link

Hmmm, question/s :)
‘Where had the steel ‘boxes’ with US Marine Guards travelled from?’
‘What was in those same boxes being guarded by our Marines?’
Bombs?. Unlikely, unless we have now have sucide Marines?
‘Incriminating’ evidence, videos, documents, e-mails etc? Hmmm, maybe.
Something very important to somebody though… Wonder to whom and why?
Yep, Hmmmmmmm.
“Perhaps the terrorists knew that the Marriott was the venue of the dinner for all the leadership where the president, prime minister, speaker and all entire leadership would be present,” he told reporters. “At the eleventh hour, the president and prime minister decided that the venue would be the prime minister’s house. It saved the entire leadership.”
‘while the dead included the Czech ambassador and two U.S. Department of Defense employees.’
I don’t think it was bombs…but the floors that the boxes were put on caught on fire…incendiary devices perhaps…Or, I thought maybe it was boxes of cash to dispense to the tribal leaders…but then, when you read the other story that the leaders were supposed to be dining in the hotel that day…Or maybe there was cash in the boxes to be given to the leaders….makes you wonder who was being targeted.
The AP reports, “A North Carolina-based convenience store chain is asking customers in 11 states — mostly across the Southeast — to limit gasoline purchases to 10 gallons as Hurricane Ike shuts down some refineries on the Gulf coast.” The Pantry stores are located in Virginia, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana and both Carolinas. The company’s move was not necessitated by an actual shortage, but anticipation of one. “Emergency management officials in three western North Carolina counties said lines formed and some stations ran out of fuel Thursday after rumors of supply problems. The officials said there was no shortage.”
US News
and about an hour ago MSNBC was reporting same in Kentucky, Virginia, and Tennessee
Things are changing too fast in too many areas all at once. Financial markets. Wars. My head hurts. I can’t keep track, let alone understand it all.
Many stations in Texas have no premium. Claim they don’t know when they will get any.
RNC hard drives? Cheney’s daily diary and WH visitor logs? GWB’s marbles? You decide ;-)

G’morning gang …
I’d say read all Pakistan news with your best xray goggles on – disinformation is flowing from all sides … and Bush sure seems to want another war.
Dollar = Toast
Pakistan, even weaker/non-existent central government, strong(political) army stays away from pro Taliban tribal areas, allows boarder crossing by taliban & al Qaeda, pro Taliban intelligence agency involved in Bhutto assassination. The US is fucked anyway it turns its incompetent head in Pakistan!
T/T to Thomas Mifflin for opening the Digg! So pups you can now Digg IT this fine post by Suin!!
I think the gas shortage has to do with Ike. They told everyone there would be no gas after the hurricane, because:
1. Tankers couldn’t get into port for some days.
2. Refineries were shut down.
3. Oil platforms were destroyed.
Isn’t this the type of “emergency” situation that the reserves are designed for?
Maybe this is some kind of September surprise….national emergency…everything falling apart…bugga, bugga…Remember, W can declare a national emergency at will and fork everything up even more…they won’t go quietly.
I agree.
Dam Should have been H/T to Thomas Mifflin…(:>(
There is a shortage in the pipe line that comes from the Gulf and supplies the east coast per CNN news on cable.
I don’t think it was bombs either.
More questions ;)
‘Why was the dinner meeting being held?’
‘What was to be the ‘topic’ to be discussed at said meeting?’
Was the Czech Ambassabor supposed to be a guest at dinner meeting?
If so,
‘Why didn’t anyone tell the Czech Ambassador that the meeting had been ‘moved’ to a ‘private’ house?
SPR is oil, not refined products.
This and the Pentagon seeks sale of 1000 precision guided bunker- busters to Israel. The 250 lb. GBU 39 can penetrate over a meter of reinforced concrete.
Getting mighty dangerous out there on the eve of the election, perhaps orchestrated?
Gov. of Refuge Alaska stocked up on GBU 39s using an earmark: “Great for wolves–yup, yup!”
Oh…and without refineries working..what good would it do I guess.
Folks should remember that during Ramadan, it is traditional to host dinner gatherings for the Iftar meal (fast breaking) and that would be even more true on the day the new guy took office.
True, but they usually don’t blow up the building..
Ding. Not that W would release it under any circumstances, anyhow.
Islamabad Bomb Had Secret Ingredient
LoL. That was my first thought :)
Second thought was possibly? something to do with why the US has been so persistant with their ‘incursions’ into Pakistan recently?
When all else fails, gallows humor …
The foreign relations of this country have been a complete failure. The situation with Pakistan is deteriorating by the day. The Surge has been an abject failure and Iraq remains a powder keg. Last week we learned the agreement w/ N. Korea has fallen by the wayside and now, according to WaPo their ain’t nothin goin to happen w/ the much ballyhood Israeli/Palestine accord. International goodwill has been squandered.

this one i lay at obama’s feet too. his campaign rhetoric has been extremely dangerous.
Comments like that earn you a Condi Scowl.
no wonder shrub has been hiding in the whitehouse. makes you wonder if they are asking themselves how many ways can they f*ck this country.
And if that’s not enough, don’t overlook the Russian ships headed to Venezuela for “exercises”. Could be just the shiny object Georgie could use to his advantage.
*sigh*
And where the hell is congress?
Selling out even more to the Repug. Junta?
That’s a list that they started before 2001. It’s been growing ever since.
knock it off hippy,
The Fish Just Love ‘Em! :D
Venzuela won’t do anything that dumb. It is political posturing (he detests Bush)but it won’t go any further than the screeching and tossing ambassadors out.
hmm that is comforting.
that waws the most ding bat shit I have ever heard in my life. As mr wobb said, “They must have forgotten to medicate him before setting him loose”
Oh, my absentee ballot came over the weekend. I think I would rather do early voting so i am off to print out an early voting application from the Registar Recorder’s office
Something breaking on CNBC. If I heard correctly Barney Frank said gov agreed that it gets equity in the fin corps as well as getting their bad debt.
We import alot of oil from Venezuela, over 1M bbl./day, most goes into Gulf Ports (TX).
Not yet time to shut off that source, wait until straights of hormuz are closed…..
That seems to be the case, but stuff coming out of Frank meeting is garbled, so it’s not entirely clear yet.
(wobblybits)
i’m so, so sorry, but i just care too much about what is happening. i can’t sit silently even if it means having you-all hate me for saying unpleasant things about obama.
Nobody hates you!!! Geez. We need the truth, even if it is painful.
Politico has it up. The Dodd Plan.
No one hates you. my sigh had nothing to do with your comment about Obama just the situation is all around bad.
((selise)) honest to goodness I respect the hellout of you even if we don’t agree on everyting (besides to agree on everything is boring)
exactly
I’m listening to Obama’s campaign appearance going on now. It would be great if he does the things he is promising. He just said there is a building in the Cayman Islands that is the address for 18,000 corporations. He said “That’s either the biggest building in the world or the biggest scam. And we all know which one it is.” He then went on to say he would bring that type of offshoring to an end.
Great if he does it. It’s up to you, me and the rest of us to hold him to his promises after he gets elected.
thanks LS – maybe i said it wrong, but i think you know what i mean….. and i hope i’m really really wrong. it’s just that i have to speak out in case i’m not – that without accountability obama could make things even worse than they already are.
The most amazing thing about Obama’s belligerent position is that when he first said it, he was attacked by all sides as a know-nothing risk taker. No one bothered to point out that his position was exactly the same as what W was already doing.
My dear selise, if we cannot have good discussions (ie, dissenting opinions) here, where can we?
Keep it up. Obama is not my candidate but I have to vote for him.
What I heard was coming from Frank, not Dodd. And it appears to be a concession that he got out of Treasury, not just a plan.
You are right. Obama believes that such hairy-chested bombast appeals to swing voters. We know he is smarter than he is letting on. And we don’t think that he is evil, yet.
Lesser of two evils again. Same old same old in a world more dangerous than any of us have hever seen (short of direct engagement on a battlefield).
The Pakistanis or at least various facets of their government, the elected government, the army, the intelligence services, and the Tribal Areas all have their own agendas and are all playing double or even triple games here. What this means is that we could attack across the border into Pakistan as a one off with only limited protests. But we can’t do it as policy which is what Bush has done. I would note that the Pakistanis didn’t hit any of our helicopters so there is a lot of posturing going on. But this just brings back a point I have been making for years and that is that our two biggest allies in the GWOT Saudia Arabia and Pakistan are also the two biggest sources of it.
Sorry spoke to soon.
I guess I find it hard to believe than anyone can make matters worse than the prospect of more Bushco and Palin/McCain..
At least Obama is intelligent.
CNB has a reporter in the Frank meeting Blackberrying out headlines. That’s why it’s so garbled.
Golly, you’d think McCain would have coached him on how to operate that thing.
agreed.
You said it better than I.
Ha! (Think the reporter might be a she. Didn’t hear the name clearly.)
per CNBC Mccain says he will cut spending and continue Bush’s tax cuts if elected.
Hey pal your contributions to the discussions are invaluable.
BTW I missed this when I read Christy’s post earlier today. Rick Davis, McCain’s campaign manager, was paid $30,000 a month for 5 years ormore than $2 million to lobby for Fannie and Freddie. For some reason, I only so the $30,000 and thought it was total paid. Must read more carefully.
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09…..ccain.html
Christy has my Zed upstairs…
You don’t suppose house and senate dems got together and actually came up with a stratagy………… never mind.
Why would you think that Obama might be evil? I have not seen any reason to believe that he wants to be prez in order to make lots of money for himself and his friends. He has not become pro-life. Can we not have a little faith that this man wants to do the right things for his country? I don’t agree with all the positions he has taken but lets at least give him a chance to succeed. Which he can’t do if he not in the WH.
Christy’s upstairs with a new post…
Need to be more careful in my typing too.
Correct me if this is in error:
The government gets equity in these failing concerns. This is like nationalization of the entities.
This is a big NO-NO with the Chicago School of Economics.
No effective upper level management is forthcoming, these entities become an economic drag, not profitable.
They are sold off, pennies on the dollar to private parties, books cleared, debts reduced, privatized back into unaccountability, washed, rinsed, ready to repeat.
Got gas so far here in central Virginia.
It makes me just a wee bit nervous to think we are one hurricane away from being out of gas in this country. Why isn’t it stockpiled somewhere OTHER than the gulf in case of emergencies like this?
Makes no sense the we’re so vulnerable, especially with days and days notice of an impending hurricane.
my bold.
this is where we diagree jim. imo accountability is always, and most especially now. because after he gets elected we have no leverage.
that, in essence is my argument. if there is no accountability now, there will be none after the elections.
for evidence in support, i offer two recent observations:
1. compare the democrats in 2006 running to take control of the house and senate with the democrats of the 110th congress. we had no leverage with them after they won.
2. compare two different obama’s we saw during the primary campaign and after clinton quit. immediately obama did a hard right turn… we’d lost the leverage we had during the primary without taking advantage of it. now we have even less.
but that does not mean he is wise.
We don’t have leverage either before or after the election. How would you exercise leverage on Obama in the next five or so weeks? The guys with leverage make large campaign contributions.
I am of the school that Obama is smart and is saying things to get elected. His aggressiveness re Afghanistan and Pakistan are plays to the nationalists, a kind of wrapping himself in the flag. After he’s elected he should moderate. That’s my plan. I hope it’s his.
This doesn’t change the fact that we don’t have leverage. It’s time to think about how we might get some.
he needs our votes.
and possibly our volunteer efforts.
You are right, and even our money, but I don’t see how that translates into leverage, either now or afterwards.
only we we are willing to withhold it.
not saying anyone should – that’s a decision that imo each person should make for themselves. what i am advocating for is that we all consider it – make the choice to use or not use what leverage we do have. that is all.
John McCain is old…very very old.
John McCain called up the Czechoslovakian embassy and nobody answered.
As I understand it he’s said two major things:
1) We will not let Iran have nuclear weapons.
2) We will get Al Qaeda regardless of any other nation’s interests.
What’s the problem?
especially since McCain invented it!
BTW, John McCain is very very old. He also helped invent the stone tablet.
At least he will always have us to harass him. :-)
