It’s just a classic bait and switch. They reference the RTC making most of the money back just to make this run sound appealing. It’s already clear that the plan is for Paulson to buy toxic debt at 60 cents on the dollar and then turn around and sell it back at a nickel so that the merry-go-round starts again.
