Digg it PUPS!
knock knock any one home??
ES you there??
Nope, we all left…! ;-)
It sure is lonely here tonight!
Hey CT how are the islands tonight??
Good evening firedawgs…)
Dugg yer Digg, nahant
CT, I read M&C today. SOunds like we need to add another serious investigation right here at home. /cheney
This is gonna leave a rug burn for McSame…
McCain and the POW Cover-up (h/t Laura Doty!)
Hail, muse ES! Eureka Springs Aeternal.
Eureka!
This is good stuff.
Please have Darth’s fingerprints all over it… Pretty please? ;-)
Bit of a recurring pattern of burying documents, eh? Between that and the old Keating archives at SCC. Both of which are hitting the news on the same day. Hmmm… Christmas coming early this year?
I have a lot of faith in Sydney. But this crowd (who dogged McCain about this for many years) spawned the ‘truthers’ we have today. Need to look at this very carefully.
I thought Mccain had a lot of the stuff hidden away… maybe I am thinking of Abramoff.
I’m certain this won’t lead to any problems whatsoever.
You just know there’s going to be some guys propositioning some attractive, genuine nuns now.
Thanks CT I recently watched that session with McCain storming out of the room!
I wonder if the info can be procured under the freedom of information act??
McCain IS not an honorable man. I have never trusted him in all these years of watching him an the national scene!
Now I know our local news have gone off the deep end….. THE lead story is how they retrieved a litter of kittens who were trapped inside the walls of a home….. with details on how the lured them out…… OK that means there is no war…. that the markets are fine….. that there isn’t a Presidential election….. that McBush isn’t falling on his face…… wow…. life is goods….
Big Brother tries to disguise himself as Big Bird.
OT — if there is a topic, that is — I would like to lump my vote in with the folks who have been saying the posts-releasing interval has been too short today. The comments threads (and let’s face it, unlike most places and despite the surpassing excellence of the posters, it’s the comments that’s the primary attraction of FDL) just don’t get the chance to warm up and take off this way.
Do you live in BumFuckNowhere?? sheesh
I agree, I have some of my older compatriots looking at it to give me their opinion… Hopefully, I can get Norske, Raven and/or Southern Dragon to remark on it… Since, it happened well before my time…!
Yeap, ‘zactly: McCain himself’s been the dragon sleeping atop the treasure pile of secret documents in both cases.
And how s the Sheriff’s race coming along, any polls as of late?
I live in Phoenix AZ….. this was the ABC local station….. what dweebs…. another email…..
I read about that earlier.. I don’t know, it’s just creepy. Grover Chertoff
It’s sad that I’m not surprised by this.
And you know they’d never, ever abuse that. Right?
I do remember some of this stuff about McCain blocking further investigation into the POW’s I wonder if there are/were one or two who would have disparaging news to tell about McCain and his time at the Hanoi Hilton… Maybe his story is far from the truth he portrays it as??? I do know those families sure were pissed at McCain!!
File that under F’ing Stupid.
Chris Farley had a great skit back in the day at Second City. “I coulda been FBI”…the character was “security” at Wrigley Field.
I’d have to check…. right now there is a big fight between the Sheriff and the town of Guadalupe which does not have it’s own police force and depends on the Sheriff’s force to respond. Right now the average response time is 45 minutes…… I am south of Guadalupe which is about half way between my house and Phoenix ……
The issue is that the Sheriff has been doing raids through that town to pick up anyone driving while brown……. hauling in hundreds of people and then only finding a handful who are not documented…… Good old Sheriff Joe demands verification of citizenship on sight……
Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon has filled a DOJ civil rights complaint against the Sheriff and we all know where that will go……
That’s what McCain is good at doing, blocking other people’s plans. Blockhead.
How very puzzling! Almost as though Skeletor Chertov’s Airport Security Theatre™ weren’t about making air travel as safe as possible. But no, no, that couldn’t be…
What’s on my mind?…I wonder who is dialing for dollars. “President” Bush looked like he had had a lot of old friends putting the arm on him when he popped out today.
who is your USA? (sorry to make you repeat anything)
Theft From Luggage Rampant At Sea-Tac Airport
Elmore did a TeeVee show where one of the guys on the crew had his prescription drugs take from his luggage….. in the middle of the show he ended up in the ER in serious condition….. HEART meds….. they took a mans heart meds…… btw… the guy had no insurance…..
CT, that is some hot stuff in that article.
“McCain, whose POW status made him the committee’s most powerful member, attended that hearing specifically to confront Alfond because of her criticism of the panel’s work. He bellowed and berated her for quite a while. His face turning anger-pink, he accused her of “denigrating” his “patriotism.” The bullying had its effect–she began to cry.
After a pause Alfond recovered and tried to respond to his scorching tirade, but McCain simply turned and stormed out of the room. The PAVE SPIKE file has never been declassified. We still don’t know anything about those 20 POWs.”
I am naive and uninformed on these matters. Why would our government abandon those POWs?
Hmmmm.. Could explain much of what CT posted on today.
Ours was one of the fired ones….. Charlton…. and the new one was recommended by Kyl and McCain… ya think that anything would be done? McCain is BFF with Sheriff Joe….
He enabled the media to conglomerate, go fundie as the chair of Commerce committee he was in charde of FCC applications.
According to Jim Comey, Charleton was the best of the best. Very sad.
IIRC, at a later date, McCain raised his hand as if he were about to hit her in her wheelchair outside his office.
First a lot of the yeahoos that were around for the last war or the draft dodgers are around today….. there was a lot of things that were hidden….. just start with Agent Orange….. well into the 80-90’s they were denying that there was anything to the exposure…… Then there is Gulf War I syndrome….. Where is that one?
The military that fought in WWII and Korea were pretty much retired by Vietnam…. only a few left…… and that was the Nixon error of hid the crap and do what you want ….
He was, he came an spoke at one of our ACLU meetings….. he was one of those republicans that I remember when I was a kid….. not quite as wacky as Goldwater but at least you could sit down and discuss things and really debate issues and did not spout talking points…… Charlton stood up and took it ….. he refused to try a capital murder case where there was no body and the only evidence was witness statements from druggys…..
A Bircher policy dont cha know. I have catholic iz friends in Phoenix that feel the same wat they want the border closed. it is really weird. Bet the big money like keating, Cindy McCain and the mob which is pretty big down there like NY and Boston mobsters that deal drugs.
Remember can have a loaded weapon on seat next to driver occassionally tempers flare and shooting occurs om freeway. Wid West and proud of it????
Right. Got in AguG’s staff’s faces and insisted on a meet over it. And Comey testifies to the House that Charleton actually turned he and Ashcroft around on a Capital case earlier.
Heh, the Repugs will try and make a buck where ever and however they can…! ;-)
Hey, Pups!
CT, you still around?
FunnyD
Here’s the video of part of the hearing. I didn’t quite know what a jerk McCain was all along until I watched this.

I think so! 8-)
Hi Funnydiva….. heading off to bed…. Nite everyone…..

Ok am I tired or did my mind just put the right word to the post over at kos?
It says:
What Do Mormons Have Against Love
I read:
What Do Morons Have Against Love
I keep thinking that tpp officials flouting laws would have this kind of effect.
The president and his cronies are breaking laws left and right; people way down the line are going to think it’s ok for them to do it, too.
Rule of Law doesn’t just sound nice and noble, it really means something.
OOPPS I owes ya a coke or something… but I did get part two!!
Heh, is there a difference…? ;-)
Aloha, Katy!
At long last, Senator McCain, have you left no decency?
Wait, don’t answer that.
Night Katy I don’t think Mormons hate love don’t they want more than one or two wives??? Oh yeah it’s the sex partners they want not the love part!!
Wow in his rant McC himself mentions the idea of a conspiracy. Wotta tell.
The real ???? is did he ever have any decency?? His history sure says NO in glaring kleig lights!!
lol. thanks.
here are a couple of POW family members at a national press club event speaking of their not so helpful encounters with McCain. I could only listen to three minutes and it turned my stomach to hear how they were treated.
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=T1AWeZrdxfQ
That’s the thing. I thought he was just getting cranky after being in Washington so long and not getting a lot of respect cuz of the “maverick” thing. But it’s a “what a dick” kind of thing.
Is it true that of all the American servicemen imprisoned at the Hanoi Hilton, only McCain was not significantly promoted upon his return to the US?
ugh. beddy bye time. see ya pups.
Go Obama. Peace.
Grandpa Dick and Sarah Slick.
night dosido (:>)) Sleep well!
LurkNote: Suzanne has arrived (or should be arriving) in the San Francisco Bay Area this evening. She reports a great trip so far, and misses you all (well, most of you).
Not sure but Well worth doing the research on… would be an interesting subject!! IIRC he retired because he wasn’t getting the promotions.. but his fitness reports are sealed and he refuses to release them… Seems he DOES have something to hide in them!
mMy cuz was a tank commander in the WWII Pacific theatre then was “recalled” to Korea and was captured by the Chinese nad was a prisoner of war four almost four years. Every evening we watched the news to see if he was among those released. He came came a shell of his former self. We certainly do owe them all a debt of gratitude, but the ruke of government.
He never ever beat that drum the way McCain has used it. If you chose to serve, maybe he was drafted I don’t know, he was told like all of us…”Give your soul to God because your ass belongs to us”.
From Wikipedia
He retired from the Navy as a captain in 1981, moved to Arizona, and entered politics. If he only made Captain in all those years something made him unfit to be promoted!!
Must be the Bulgarian…! ;-)
Suz!
Has she come to get her critters So she can bring them to their new home??
Pick up Token and Bailey, take care of some lingering business, perhaps pick up some or all of her plants, visit friends.
Every Vet I know DOESN’T brag about his time in the WAR zone! My uncles who served in WWII barely spoke about it except to say it was hell!! Never to beat their own drums!!
Great will have to call her tommorow!! I know after noon… don’t want to ruin her beauty sleep!
Ditto, with the current crop, nahant!
Hmmmmmm
Pakistan close to boosting atom bomb means – report
Seems that is the way of VETS. They Serve and never brag about it… True heroes not like the POW running for prezident (:>((
I really do wonder just how much John IS hiding about the Vietnam missing POWs?? He sure has a knack for hiding things.. health records, fitness reports, Keating 5 evidence and of course the Abramoff evidence… ASSHOLE.
My number 1 riding partner will not talk about his time. Laos/ Cambodia, 2 Purple Hearts with sealed citations no less. It took me about a year to figure out he was there at all and only got it because of my time in the military. McShitforbrains knows nothing of honor.
Meanwhile, all eyes are on Iran… Frickening Sickening…!
And has remarkably little empathy for the surviving and stricken family members, considering where he was and what he saw.
We’ll swap war stories amongst one another, but, not brag about it or rest our laurels upon it…!
very true! He dishonors ALL other veterans!!
wow nahant he really did lose his cool there I had not seen that before.
the magic of YouTube reveals there is a lot of footage of McInsane that puts him in a bad light, losing his temper, etc.
one example: HERE
Captain in the Navy is equal to a colonel in the Marines, Army or Air Force. That rate is a good one for 20 year hitch. It is to me a mistake to go after his mission in the Navy.
More so how it has cost him mentally although he was predisosed to anger as a young guy.
Citizen nahant:
Right on…those who experienced shots fired in anger almost never speak about it unless it’s with another brother in the kriptic that many vets use tagether. My grampa Ole had a Purple Heart and a French ribbon of some sort and I never heard about it until I was home on leave before shippin out in 1966 (I knew he had served but even my Dad didn’t feel it his place ta speak about it)…my father (Purple Heart, Bronze Star etc.)spoke of his experiences as I was growin up but only in context of tryin ta teach me sumpthin about human behavior and history. Over the years I got enough episodes ta complete the narrative of his experience.
The last politician to believe is a veteran of combat who is gung ho ta send others’ kids out ta die…
and now sending his goon squad to Alaska to crush Troopergate investigation
Citizen bigbrother:
I think I gotta disagree with you about McCrazy and whether or not it’s ok ta explore his experiences and circumstances of his service since he and his folks have made his story THE story and THE qulification for service. As a former medic, son of a disabled vet and an RN I have seen the effects of post traumatic stress, the lingering dementia of memory and the weight of guilt that vets of combat carry…when one of them is runnin’ for an office of trust and makes his service a campaign qualification then it’s very important to expose the truth of that service and it’s continuing impact on the person.
Check out this at Laura’s site… A sister of a POW tells her tale at the National Press Club about McCain’s antagonism of POW groups…!
Ask John Kerry he released hie military records, McCain refuse to!! As they say Its the cover up is what gets these asshole rethuglians!! Besides he did crash four jets besides the one he got shot down in! And he was given preferential treatment because he was the admirals kid!! How many other Navy Jet pilots could get away with that… Sorry he is an asshole who will do or say anything to get what he wants!! I have NO respect for the man using his POW status when he has covered up what has happened to other POWs who never came home!! Read the article I sent you and watch the video’s
Norske, what’s your take on the Nation’s story?
Citizen oldnslow:
“Mcshitforbrains knows nothing of honor.”
And I wonder if it was taken from him in prison or if, based on what we know of his history before service, he ever had any ta lose.
Thanks CT for the link!!
I would really like to know the answer to that question. Also, I would like to know how many graduates, at 894 out of 899 go on to fly at all? Is that normal?
Citizen CTuttle:
I have never liked the almost frenzied passion of those reporters who are not relatives of missin troops to keep the wound open…my feelin’ is that for those troopers ta have any peace we’ve gotta put that war ta rest and dedicate ourselves ta gettin’ this generation of young troopers out of harms way.
I am a peace activist since 1968. Wars are not the answer to conflict. wars are fought mostly to bully. I volunteered and felt like opposing war was saving people from the horrors of war. I always liked “Speak softly and carry a big stick”. Teddy Roosevelt.
George W Busj seems to have dorgotten what his “Hero” said when he said ” Bring it on”.
If you ahve to us military force it should be very judiciously not needless risk of personnel and resources. There was no need to take out the Hussein regime. Therir army was destroyed. The airforce was destroyed and their self defense was pretty shot. Diplomacy first when all else fails the threat of force may work.
Not having served myself, I feel a little messed up opining on this. But McCain’s flaunting of his POW experience seems a lot like Chimpy getting (and bragging about, and displaying) Saddam Hussein’s pistol as a war trophy. His father must be aghast over it.
I always heard, and correct me if I’m wrong, that you didn’t want a trophy like that unless you took it off the man yourself, and you never spoke of it to anyone who didn’t share that experience.
McCain’s putting it out there as a defense against any and all rigorous scrutiny has that same flavor – lacks the dignity of the uniform he wore.
Thanks for the link.
If an Obama-leaning 527 wants materal, that would be a good place to start.
Can’t argue with ya on that, but, I do think it should be made abundantly clear what kinda of crap McInsane has pulled in thwarting a true accounting for our fellow POW/MIA’s that haven’t returned… Especially, when it’s from a former POW that has designs on POTUS…! 8-(
I think McCain is a loose cannon. Don’t like his record in the senate or his attitude in general. Not faulting you. He has plenty of baggage without prisoner of war issues which is controversial as hell can be turned around against us. Just sayin.
So why is McInsane so angry? I mean, sure, I understand being angry at the North Vietnamese over the captivity and torture, maybe also at the system that forced him as a practical matter to remain a POW longer than he had to be. But why on Earth is he so angry at families of POWs and MIAs? Why?
Citizen CTuttle:
I agree that McCrazy has made ANYthing in his service or history fair game but let’s be careful not to drive the story into sympathy for the bastard…he’s makin a parody of himself and his service all by nhimself.
Given that he seeks the highest office in the country does it matter? He is a punk and a bully. No amount of window dressing or index cards can shield him, or us from those naked facts. I am with you in that because he has trotted out “POW” as the very highest qualification for office it is open for honest and frank discussion.
After 20 years as an officer one knows if there will be 10 more years or not. The fitness reports are the tell. There was never to be a flag promotion for him. Unfit for command in our military is unfit to lead the country.
Very true! It’s definitely a fine line…!
Saddam Hussein was a major strategic asset for the U.S. It was totally stupid to sacrifice him, if protecting ourselves and/or Israel against militant Islamic fundamentalists was the objective. But I don’t think the people involved were that stupid. They had other objectives, and I’d very much like to know exactly what they were. (It’s easy to guess a few of them.)
The TRUTH needs no couching in glowing terms as McCain’s versions seem to need when he speaks about his time in the War!! Every thing about him say he is a liar and a cheat. His history bears that assessment out!! Just watch these women’s experience with the esteemed senator from Arizona!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1AWeZrdxfQ
Dam forgot the link!!
He stayed as long as he did because, he says (and I have no info to refute what he says), he would not sign confessions, make anti-US statements, reveal information, etc. He evidently regarded any fellow POWs who yielded to the extreme pressure, including maltreatment and torture, and did so, as contemptible traitors. Perhaps some of that figures into it.
I’m betting that there is information that he has taken steps to hide. Those families could get it into the open. They are a danger to him.
It was a powerful moment when the sister broke down crying while talking about her dealings with McSlime…!
Well thats it for me tonight pups … have a server to work on in the morning!! Sleep well when you get there PUPS and please don’t Vote for McDammed!!
McCain has admitted in writing that he broke under pressure and signed an anti-American confession.
Also, it is against the U.S. Military’s POW Code of Conduct to accept early release.
The bitter irony is that McInsane broke and his ‘confession’ was broadcast all over Vietnam…!
G’nite nahant
G’night nahant.
Aloha, nahant!
Sure was… will e sending that out to all on my lists for their edification…
POOF!!
Well said. Wonder what Vietnam Veterans organizations position is? Do you knoe CTuttle? You have military blog.
mmmmmm, servers
nite nahant
nite all.
ES – YGM – ;~D
G’night neurophius.
In regards to his actions against the POW/MIA’s or in general…?
Give me a sec, and, I’ll post a link to a recent post of mine on what the Vet org’s think of his congressional record…
Oh noes – but but but I just got here. Sigh – nite nite nahant and neurophius. ;~(
There is a lot of stuff here claiming that McCain was a less that model POW: http://vietnamveteransagainstm…..anding.htm
However, our fellow FDL commenter, raven, says that it’s BS. I’ve not followed up on any of it, but that Nation article now has me wondering a bit.
Hi npb! Suz is in the neighborhood, or so we are told!
nite neuro
Hello everyone. I thought you might like this–a letter to the editor by Mr. Votus that will be published in The Oregonian, Portland’s largest newspaper:
Our non-representative government that has spent the last eight years spitting on working citizens have managed to find BILLIONS of DOLLARS to provide BAILOUTS for the nation’s wealthiest financial institutions that failed because of GROSS MISMANAGEMENT.
HEY CONSERVATIVES!! WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO “PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY”??
We can’t afford to take care of our working citizens who through NO FAULT OF THEIR OWN cannot obtain medical care and are losing their jobs and their homes – but we can ALWAYS provide WELFARE PAYMENTS for IRRESPONSIBLE and INCOMPETENT BILLIONAIRE CEOS, THEIR COMPANIES and theie INVESTORS.
Here’s some advice for conservatives who still criticise “socialist programs” that the rest of the industrialized world enjoy, like guaranteed health care, free education and subsidized public transportation – SHUT UP!!
Mr. Votus doesn’t mince words, and opinions editors tend to love him.
Here ya go… McBush’s Continuing Love Affair With Vets…
Ah, thanks, ww, I’ve been blundering around trying to find that again. First came across it via Kosland and thought it smelled a bit funny. Sure hope The Nation hasn’t stumbled into a trap here.
Aloha, neuro!
Raven is right! Take it with a grain of salt on much of what he spouts…!
Just replied…)
Citizen wigwam:
In deference to the memories and the restless souls of those fallen and unrecovered, let’s be careful not to give McCrazy any exposure for his own service…let’s keep the focus on his behavior towards the families of those missing and make THAT a disqualification to his bearing an office of trust. Raven is correct, we owe it to the soldier that was tortured and abused not to denigrate his experience no matter how much the effects of that experience lead him to soil his own nest.
So let’s focus on McCrazy’s dispicable behavior as a public servant towards the grieving families and stay away from the terrible history of his own suffering.
That’s why I’ve sent it to some Nam Vets to give me their take…! ;-)
Thanks for that less than 8,000 viewed it so it is still not widely known. MIA is sure an issue. Also his unwillingness to adequately fund veterans benefits is an even wider issue.
Nahant his personality disorders could be opined bt Dr. Kirk Murphy and his profession could give a statement on it. He has a worse anger issue than Dubya the Neocons like war types.
I’ve heard a rumor that Ian Masters’s radio program from KPFK in Los Angeles (11:00-1:00 PDT this Sunday) will have a guest who was a one of McCain’s fellow POWs at the Hanoi Hilton.
Brother CTuttle:
See comment #139 above.
Find what, a debunking of the vietnamvetsagainstmccain page? I thought it was not trustworthy as well, but when I tried to go back and find where I originally learned that.. I couldn’t find any credible debunking. I still wont refer to it because I know something is wrong. Sure wish I could remember what it was because i wanted to tell a few other folks who refer to it.
Thanks for the emails and stay calm your health you know.
Congnitive dissonance. The world does not conform to Mc’s ideas. Therefore the world must be punished.
Hey newtonusr – and yep Suz is en route to the central coast to fetch her critters. Just talked with her awhile ago – she and spidey are hanging out tonight. How’s things with you?
Sorry, I was being unclear yet again. I meant find vietnamveteransagainstjohnmccain. I do not recall ever seeing any specific debunking of the info there, only some comments stapled to the DKos post that warned that the info was regarded as iffy. No specific counter-assertions nor exculpatory facts, though.
Things are cool here. Hope your particular bay is as expected – beautiful. We’re a bit overcast, chilly.
heading off to bed, take care of the place guys. nite npb
I did and I agree, I sent it to others, one I’m really waiting on is Ranger Against War, an ex-SF officer in Nam, a good man (and blog) indeed!
Aloha, Newt!
Time for me to call it a late late nite as well.
G’ nite fabulous firedogs
“”A veteran voting for McBush is akin to a chicken voting for Col. Sanders…” the quote at the end of the article in the link.
That seems clear to me. The video comments of the veteran ewpresentative show a kind of denial of his voting record.
That ability to block out and deny is not an attribute for presidential decision makers.
Aloha, ES! I shall join ya! Aloha Oe!!!
You liked that, eh? It is apropo! Nite! *poof*
Whatever happens with this campaign, I believe McCain will regret waging it.
That said, anybody have thoughts about what can be done re: a laptop spacebar that has suddenly started working only intermittently. It’s not sticking.
Also I agree with dear Norske that as far as the public eye goes, whatever horror happened to JSM once captured deserves deference, deserves to have a curtain of decency/privacy drawn around it. To a (very very generous) point, that is. If as is being suggested there turns out to be evidence that acts were done that caused damage to the US that went far beyond what is usual in these cases, then that in my opinion becomes information which is relevant to the election. So I hope a few honest people are checking this out now, and hope for everyone’s sake it turns out not to be true. Both sides smell, anyway.
Brother CTuttle:
What a wonderful blog (”Ranger Against War”)…he reminds me of a couple a “Sneaky Petes” I met early on in ‘66-67…you and Raven and a couple other FDL vets have led me ta get active again (first time in 35 years) with the vets thing. I’m not sure I got the chops ta handle it anymore but it’s an obligation of citizenship and I can’t run from my own history.
Sweet dreams, all ye Leaving Giants of Late Late. The Sweetie’s home, so off I go as well.
“Prevention of cognitive dissonance may also contribute to confirmation bias or denial of discomforting evidence.”
John McCain has an inner battle with demons …just my take a mental health issue. It is heart breaking to see him living up to standards that are impossible. I am sure his family has experienced it too. It is sad but in my mind it would be gentler to not have him in the place where he can do more damage to himself and others, Biden has it right.
Good night and hope the telescope jobs is workimg for tou CT.
Attaturk is upstairs!
How much?
