This is simply a sad reflection of the times. Rather than be angry and blunt in reporting McCain’s repeated snubs as he tosses out multiple slanders each day, his press pool does this:
Reporters traveling with John McCain are slightly miffed that the senator hasn’t had any face time with them in, well, a month and three days (but who’s counting?).
So, when Straight Talk Air departed Tampa today, a dozen reporters chanted, "Bring Mac back! Bring Mac back!" (Some reporters expressed concern that chanting at takeoff could be against FAA regulations. Others joked that they could be taken away by the Secret Service agents on board.)
The chanting lasted under a minute as staffers in the business cabin smiled and then promptly closed the curtain between business and coach.
When are we going to see Michael Scherer or Howard Fineman standing on the tarmac before the plane leaves playing Peter Gabriel loud enough for even "the Maverick" and his calcified tympanum to hear?

I really HATE Faux Noise …
Did any of you guys hear that Hillary was going to be at a rally protesting the Iranian President at the UN Meeting next week … ?
Ok so I heard the McSame’s veep “Failin’” was also going to be at the protest and upon hearing that tidbit, Hillary canceled her appearance …
Well my point is this, Faux Noise were hyping the fact that the two “powerful” women were going to be at the event together but when they reported the Hillary cancellation, they used a very unflattering image of her in the news article …
http://elections.foxnews.com/2…..ded-palin/
If you look in the link it actually says “clinton-blindsided-palin” …
I am guessing they are pissed our girl dissed the Lying Neocon, hence the choice of pics …
Faux Noise Sucks …
Good morning, pups. It’s Dowd and Friedman today. Ms. Dowd gives us “Barbies For War!” and says at gatherings in Wasilla, Alaska, pastors pray for reporters, drilling evokes cheers and Todd Palin is hailed as a guy who likes to burn fossil fuels. And I thought the South was nuts… Mr. Friedman says “Keep It in Vegas,” and that government’s job is to police that fine line between the risk-taking that drives innovation and gambling with other people’s savings in ways that threaten us all.

The coffee and tea are ready, and I’ve got a selection of bagels with cream cheese. I’m hoping that our latest heat spell has broken today. For the last few days if you were outside it felt like you were trying to breathe warm mayonnaise… Have a good day.
To tuck away for late night reading perhaps, a historical document (1992) having resonance with this week’s news:
The article provided some of that missing element, and it might actually have helped some at the margin, who knows? Note that the candidate at least had to address the concerns that were being raised.
Hope that heat wave crests —warm mayo, yuck!
We should only get so lucky this time.
Mornin’, pups -
Several commenters last night mentioned that mcsame is PO’d at weeddle carly’s puddle yesterday and is pullin’ her off TV for a day or two. Praise the Lord and pass the breakfast!!!!! Her face has been on the forkin’ screen *every* single time I’ve glanced at the idjit box recently; the witch is well past her “use by” date. :-(
Mornin’ all!
When did our press corps become a pathetic bunch of fan boys and girls, desperate to sniff at the star player?
Oh, that’s right: St. Ronnie and his handlers started this. And through scandal after scandal, it remains OK if you’re a Republican to do what you want, so long as you bribe the press with donuts and bbq.
No. More. Imperial. Presidency.

Looking back, I now wonder *when* ronnie became totally mentally incompetent to serve as president and noone did a damn thing about it. Given the fact that he definitely *was* unfit, it isn’t surprising that the republics now just skip the semi-sane phase and put in *two* candidates who are total duds physically and/or mentally from day one.
Good Morning, What a news morning…the financial world and the Galveston coast. What next? Afraid to ask. But, I am hoping Carly and Mc will also take the other blond friend, Peggy, I think with the long Poeffuffle name, who smiles and snears and mocks, with them. All these women look like Cindy in some way. Advisors to Mc. I think I should go back to bed.

They chanted at him? Like, for almost a minute?
Damn liberal media. A war hero shouldn’t have to put up with that kind of abuse!
I’d just like to crawl under it until it’s safe to come out or I find out that’s gonna be my permanent home for the next four years. :-(
Have you found much news *anywhere* wrt to storm damage – human and otherwise? I have this really horrible feeling that there’s a major cover-up taking place and corporate media is doing nothing more than whine that they don’t have access.

This is just getting forkin’ insane! So the taxpayers are now going to bale out every single business that’s “just too big to let fail”? Is WaMu gonna be next?
Don’t remember if someone here or another blog raised the question whether, now that *we* own these PsOS and they swirl further down the toilet, the decision will shortly be made to sell them back to corporations for pennies on the dollar. Sounds like a republic plan to me. :-(
oo you’re right Waccamaw
There’s probably a rollout list somewhere.
BT’s aswim

WaMu doesn’t fall under the to big to fail rule but will require a FDIC bailout.
Very little. There are alot of evacuees in Austin. Some early complaints on the coast about supplies not getting in. When the look & leave policy was in effect in Galveston, the lines were for hours…so would not work. Reports of real devastation, but nothing comprehensive. Power outages in many spotty places around Houston, including MD Anderson. I do not know if it is “back” yet. Was supposed to be by today.
The news has been stark about property damage in Galveston: no recovery for years, like a “war zone”. But little about folks. Some reports of people still insisting on staying with what’s left, some rescue of folks who stayed. But that’s about it.
“calcified tympanum”
LOL!
(i had to look up tympanum)

Well said, my friend!!! Love the accent!

It is even crazier… not being consistent… bail out one, let fall the next, bail out another, etc. Isn’t that how they make lab rats go berserk!!! Getting the buzz or the cookie.. and not knowing which when?

Great use of Cusack!!!
