Watching McSame and Palin, both gubmint-regulation-is-the-devil Bush/Cheney Republicans, talk about the implosion of the financial industry is a riot.
McSame, yesterday:
"Under my reforms, the American people will be protected by comprehensive regulations that will apply the rules and enforce them in full.”
And in March:
"I’m always for less regulation…I am fundamentally a deregulator."
And Tuesday, Palin impressively managed to call for more government and less government — in the same stump speech.
"Guys and gals, our regulatory system is outdated and needs a complete overhaul…We are going to reform the way Wall Street does business…”
And later,
Palin went on to say that “government has got to get out of the way” to allow the private sector to create jobs and that she would “recognize that it’s not government to be looked at to solve all the problems.”
So — government can’t solve "all the problems" except the massive regulation of the world’s largest economy.
You can’t make this shit up.

There’s nothing McSame won’t say to get elected. My Friends.
It was actually Reagan who first sold the nation of the government-as-evil theory. Private sector, efficient and wholesome; public sector (aka public trough): inefficient and evil.
So that’s where they went. I saw portions of Palin’s speech and couldn’t believe the way she was droppin’ those g’s off everthin’. Here they are:
Clearly they are incapable of noticing that they’re contradicting themselves.
The cognitive dissonance must be deafening.
Morning, BT! Great post!
He switches his positions whenever the breeze shifts.
So Senator McCain, how’s that deregulation (that you’ve championed your whole career) working out?
That’s right, Reagan said the scariest words were: I’m from the government, and I’m here to help.
THE TRUTH
Exposed: McCain team includes 83 Wall Street lobbyistsJohn Byrne
Published: Wednesday September 17, 2008
As Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) rails against Wall Street while concurrently benefiting from its largesse, some journalists are getting tired.
David Corn — an investigative reporter formerly with The Nation and currently reporting for Mother Jones — has printed a list of 83 Wall Street lobbyists he says are working for or have bundled contributions for McCain. The Democratic National Committee has previously accused McCain of using 177 lobbyists either as campaign aides, advisers or fundraisers.
Why can’t she just say “unleash the miracle of free enterprise,” the way Nooner wrote it for Reagan?
That’s actually very accurate when the Pugs are in charge.
How long before she says “What do you mean by regulation, Charlie?”?
Shit! I forgot about that one. Damn.
Is rather a telling statment, no?
Guys and gals? There’s gravitas for you. Jesus.
Obama speech at Hollywood fundraiser yesterday ….

“I’m not in a celebratory mood,” Obama said in remarks that seemed to surprise the upbeat audience. “We are at a defining moment in our history.” With the economy stumbling and the U.S. engaged in wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, Obama said, “We feel that somehow we’ve gotten badly off track.”
And how log before Humpty Dumpty McCain redefines regulation to mean “corporate tax break”?
This citizen has had enough of Incredibly FUBAR & Stupid.
dumb and dumber.
Trying to follow Palin makes me feel like
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTQmD3srV4o
did palin really say guys and gals? puke!
I mean, that’s ok to use at a PTA meeting or council meeting even, but you are now on the national and world stage, girlie girl! grow up.
Where is the oxy?
McCain and Palin: Putting the FU in FUBAR every day.
That’s why he was Charlie Keating’s favorite Senator.
Is being “fundamentally a deregulator” sorta like the economy being “fundamentally strong”? What is all this “fundamental” stuff?
Well that would terrify me if Chertoff showed up at my house. But then the end of his sentence would probably be . . .”take you to Guantanamo Bay.”
More regulation less government thats like more school rules less teachers to enforce the rules. That would only make the DOWs problems worse because I’m sure some corporations will lie about how they are really doing until they get caught. Chicago School Economics does not deal with liars in the free market system to well, so much for GOP realism.
Seeing as how the market sucks right now and everyone wants their cash this is not a good environment for liars to get their debts to slide.
In other words all the liars tend to get exposed in markets like this like fish that swim near shore tend to get washed up by hurricanes.
More regulations will just be ignored by the liars who are the very people you want to regulate. Less Government means less chance of getting caught. A bad market like this means its all moot the fish are all flopping on shore now anyway.
I think so. He’s pulling those lines out of his fundament.
Girlie girl…is that anything like girlie men? *g*
It is sorta like being fundamentally ful of shit
has anyone asked McCain/Palin if they knew where Wall Street was located?
has anyone asked them if they know what regulation is?
has anyone asked them what role Phil Gramm has had with regulation/deregulation of the financial industry?
has anyone asked them if they know how to use a spreadsheet, a calculator, or an abacus?
Because for pigs, 2 + 2 = 8 for me and -10 for you.
Here’s a link to a diary over at DK. It highlights an Obama radio ad that I have been hearing here in rural NC. Am not a fan of the NRA, but the ad is good stuff.
http://www.dailykos.com/story/…..320/600721
too elitist
Just like!
I remember Robin Williams using it in an interview once and it cracked me up. The other association I have with “girlie girl” is in Music Man when the anvil salesman is chatting up Marion the Librarian.
As Mr Dylan sang:
You can just watch McCain flip-flopping around…
oh for crying in the sink.
Palin saying they’re gonna grow jobs, green jobs! wowee!
they just keep on slathering on the sweet talk. Like there’s no tomorrow!!
once, just once i’d like to hear these “small government” proponents give me an example of what the hell they’re talking about… the smallest government i can think of right now is in Somalia.
new bumper sticker-
John McCain: Windsock of Democracy!
it’s like saying “fun” and “mental” in rolled up into one big tootsie roll that lasts a long time, long time.
Hillary’s favorite PUMA set to endorse McCain. Maybe she can be his fill-in for Fiorina…her brain’s in the same place.
You kidder, you! Hehe!
Small government for business only the GOP still wants a bigger government to listen to you phone calls, ban birth control, books bloggers etc. The Corporations have more rights than we do.
lol I like it.
No fair using anarchies! That’s not small gov’mint; it’s no gov’mint!
Ol’ Windsock McCain
didn’t she also say that things “need some fixin’ up and shakin’” in that same speech?
Who is Hillary’s favorite PUMA
wait ’til plunger sees that one
that was reply to PS @ 39
McCain is not a maverick. He is an opportunist. He will say anything, do anything to get what he wants. Currently what he wants is to be President.
Obama *better* be relatively “clean” on the number of lobbyists in his organization or this number countin’ business could blow up.
Just sayin’.
The only regulation McBlackberry implements is prunes with his morning oatmeal.
She wants the rethugs to be able to shake the last nickel out of your pocket
Lynn Forester de Rothschild
She claims Obama is an “elitist.”
There’s sumpin’ goin through my mind that I think deserves some ponderin’. With all those lobbin’ types surronding McSame’s campaign there must be at least one of’em that is involved in this financial meltdown directly. Where there is smoke, money, there must be fire, crime. There must be one of these money types invested in these big money schemes some how some way. The odds are in favor that they are involved…yes?
And McPalin are just regular folks who might wear a tennis shoe or an occasional python boot.
She did.
Lincoln, responding to Stephen Douglas, during one of their famous debates, said that Douglas’ Freeport Doctrine was a do-nothing sovereignty that was
Sounds about right here, too.
Sarah Palin
So tell me folks: what better birthday present could a guy get than the inability to distinguish between any of the following pairs:
The Onion vs. The Washington Post
The network news vs. The Daily Show
John McCain vs Jon Lovett’s congential liar character (yeah, Mohgan Fairchild, that’s the ticket!)
FEMA vs. The Keystone Kops
BC
Gramm, for starters.
Phil Gramm is the name you’re looking for.
He was eased out after the Mental Recession and Nation of Whingers meltdown.
lol.
You mean the wife of Evelyn_de_Rothschild is calling Obama an elitist?
He *has* lobbied…..or not? Spoke too soon.
He’s lobbied and in a just-made-for-McSame twofer had a big hand in legislating the deregulation of the financial services sector.
1,768 DAYZ AND THE KILLIN’ GOEZ ON AND ON AND…
Citizen Blue Texan and the Firepup Freedom Fighters:
Thanx for the post Brother Blue Texan and to augment your argument that “You can’t make this shit up” go to Salon and read Alex Koppleman’s conclusion that “…irony is dead.” It seems that Lady Baron Von Rothchild, who was a major funder for Mrs. Clinton, has now declared for Senator McCrazy because Obama “is an elitist”.
Now, will one of you Clintonistas please tell me where Bill and his wife are today and why they aren’t out on the stump for Obama…and do we wonder why Obama is slow ta pay off Clinton’s debt if it’s owed ta folks like this??!!
Ya jest can’t make this shit up…
KEEP THE FAITH AND PASS THE AMMUNITION, BUT DON’T FIRE UNTIL THE BASTARDS STOP SHOOTIN AT EACH OTHER!!
Where is the oxy?
maybe some of the residents of “the meth capital of Alaska” are branching out into oxy’s….?
Latest McShame BS – Obama is trying to unfairly politicize the economy
Pot, meet Kettle…
A. Mitchell inquiring of Rahm about push-poll suggesting Obama endorsed by Hamas.
Fuck.
Seriously? They are making that argument!?
Digg it ;)
Seriously, this has got to have McSame and the RNC going ape-crape. The lastest thing in the yoooniverse they want is a campaign on issues. But the Fates (or the Norns or Bill Shakespeare’s Witches) seem to be forcing a campaign on issues on them…
Serious as a heart attack – Mrs Greenspan played a clip w/ McShame saying that
Why does McC always sound like a 7 year old tattling to the teacher? He and Barbie talked about the economy all day yesterday but if Obama talks about it…….. McC needs to grow up.
Oh, forkin’ spit! Why doesn’t he tape two spots…….one, where he screams “sexist” for 30 seconds and the other, where he bemoans “politicalization”. Would save a lot of campaign funds that way.
Where’d I put the barf bag?
No oxy, just morons.
He sounds that way because of the meds he takes to keep from being himself and exploding in a cursing tirade.
That a Rothschild could say this without irony tells you just what a clueless moron she is. Just how conservative and/or whacko were some of Hillary’s supporters?
Off topic. What happened to the Laura Flanders/Bugliosi interview? It’s like a big tease.
47 days – that’s all. I have the champagne iced and ready.
Any mention of Republican screw ups and disasters is “politicizing,” don’t you know.
Oh, and Gramm’s crackers.
I would like to see some O ads where they play some McShame clips and follow it with raucous laughter
Not such a big tease, really.
It was yesterday.
By ‘elitist’ she means smarter than me and that makes me feel bad.
Better the economy than politicizing someone’s underwear drawer, which is what the Rethugs are good at doing.
And it was good … very good.
More power to Bugliosi and the opportunity to use it!
Strange I got error messages and I was obsessively checking all yesterday. Argh
Proud to be dumber than dirt
I resemble that statement
That a Rothschild could say this without irony tells you just what a clueless moron she is.
I have a firm personal policy of never taking anything seriously when it comes from a woman married to a man named Evelyn….
If McC wins (which he won’t) can you imagine how he is going to treat Palin? He is going to hate her because she will have won it for him and treated him like he’s a second stringer. She would be relegated to a small office in the basement where she will file things.
What I want to know is, since when is the economy not a political matter?
Shorter McStain,
‘That was then; this is now.’
A. Mitchell just said that Palin took the unusual step of taking reporter’s questions, then shows clip… of Hannity interview.
Who needs a drink?!?
Waugh!
or, in an alternate universe, like, say, the current administration, she’ll be the front for the nasty back of the bus.
Lets not get into criticising names.
I think she needs one if she is referring to Hannity as a reporter.
Exactly
My guess is she was looking forward to a media role when Hillary was the nominee or Veep choice. Backing McCain now gives at least a few minutes. Some consolation.
Mrs. d. has never met print, video or any other media she didn’t shill to — from way back before her marriage to real money.
David Neiwert is upstairs!
McCain’s Latest Lie: Spanish-Only Immigration Ad Blames Obama
David has written a new post for us.
Rothschild. Ah conjures up visions of long-stemmed champagne glasses, priceless paintings and heirlooms, and blonde(?it looks real!) women saying a woman’s duty in life is to “marry rich, stinking filthy rich.”
I have a feeling coffee in a paper cup is not the thing, whether its starbucks (Obama) or dunkin donuts (Clinton).
On de Rothschild. A parvenu. Rothschild by marriage; corporate lawyer who made a bundle n various schemes, previously married to Andy Stein of NY. Introduced to the 66 year-old de Rothschild when she was 44 by no other than Henry the Man Kissinger at a Bilderberg conference. Worth before marriage at least 100 m big ones.
These people ran the Democratic Party under the Clintons.
Vamaos arriba!
I believe the Brits pronounce it “Eve a lyn”. Does that sound more manly?
What was that craven Roger Ailes li
ne–there’s a clear distinction between our reporters and our commentators? Yeah, right.Shhhh, don’t tell Mrs. Greenspan…she thinks she’s workin’ at Fox-in-the-Henhouse Network now.
McCain has become the Zelig of American politicians. He adapts to whatever circumstance he finds himself in.
just total CLUELESSNESS
Oh a parvenu *sniff*. How scary is it if Henry Kissinger is your best man? I wonder if Mary Matalin came to the wedding, and cried.
Like Evelyn Waugh (Wahhh)
they have a 3,200 HUNDRED acre Estate in England,as nice as the Queens
Lynn f. De Rothschild & husband
I’ve seen couples like these on museum mile area NYC. Tons of them.
As nice as Queens. Well that’s not hard.
I know you mean the Queen. I am just teasing.
DOW at -350; Mc$ame will be spinning like a dervish.
“‘Round and ’round he goes where he ……”
Were he to sharpen his toes, he would “drill, drill, drill” a hole in the ground. Quick! get him where the oil is, domestic, foreign, doesn’t matter, guaranteed he’ll be a gusher.
“BREAKING NEWS FLASH!!! The sainted John Mc$ame, today gave his all for the nation, working himself into a tizzy and dropping, quite literally, out of sight… the other side of the world is concerned about his re-emergence and the implications for their political stability, as Mc$ame will claim, it is feared, that he has proven, beyond a doubt, that he is holier than any other POW/pollytishun, past or present, and might be insufferable … there are also security and tresspass issues … will he return or has the world seen the last of John “Windsock” Mc$ame? Stay tuned, updates regarding the descent of Mc$ame suggest that he and the droppimg DOW will intersect somewhere in the Earth’s core, a shift in poles is possible, you are advised to buy plaastic sheeting and duct tape, but do not worry, the Homeland is secure, and ALL critical FUNDAMENTALS are strong … You will now be returned to your regularly scheduled programming …”
Citizen DWBartoo:
ROFLMAO…run that one by John Stewart!!!
Citizen mui:
“I’ve seen couples like these on museum mile area in NYC.”
If the stock market keeps this up yer gunna see ‘em on the pavement on Wall St…
