Aloha, ES!
you tube is doing site maintenance and hopefully, the video will be up soon.
Suz, I went to let everybody know that ES was up, and I kept getting a ‘redirect loop’ warning…!
Picked up a copy of Angler tonight. Very good stuff for the 15 pages I’ve read so far.
Hey, we’ve been robbed!
I’ve been getting those with some frequency for the last two nights.
If it reads like the WAPO articles.. I have to buy it.
we are going to be doing site maintenance later that hopefully will resolve a whole host of problems ct
Eureka!
ES, Maliki said that all US troops will be out of Iraq by Dec. 2011!
i can’t even get the utube page to forking play
nevermind.. its working now- both at the top of the page and at the utube site
Uh oh, when will the Lake be down? Will we get all the frills back…? ;-)
I will believe it six months after the last blackwater employee comes home! /semi s
ES!!!
Noswaith da, Pups!
How’s everyone?
FunnyD

i’m not sure exactly what’s being done tonight – am hoping we get some bells and whistles back too
FunnyD up late.. so nice to see you.
Aloha CT, Suze, and ES! Well the world sure has changed in the last 48 hours eh?
Is it “the economy” stupid and Obama wins or are we going to be governed by Dumb and Dumber of the republican lobbyist party?
I take it that Dick Cheney is The Angler? Must have been a tough choice for the book title. The Shooter, The Angler or Beelzebub.
So I wanted to post this song a bit closer to 9-11, since that’s what the song is about. But the hurricane took out my power for several days spoiling that plan. Anyway, I was listening to it again this afternoon while reading about our countries financial woes and thought to myself.. it still fits in so many situations.. and it’s a simple but good song.
Heading off to bed…. still reading “A Year in Provence”…. ahhhh touring the world before going to sleep…. ;)
Hi FunnyD…. Nite everyone…
I’ve been getting them too. Also, big hangups, seemingly from stuff blip.tv is trying to load. From here it seems cookie related.
Aloha, Jo!
Thanks, man. Good to see all y’all, too.
Gonna give myself an hour or so to wade here at the Lake.
FunnyD
Nite, Katy!
Good luck with the site maintenance. Meanwhile, a sign of the times from a commenter at Calculated Risk who took this photo today at a WaMu branch in Oakland; note the blue magic marker.
*waving g’nite to the leaving sleepy pups*
Must have been a tough choice for the book title.
That’s his Secret Service code name, IIRC.
Georgie’s code name? hmmm…….
‘night Katymine. Sweet dreams.
FunnyD
JoFish! All good questions.. nice to have Ian around to prepare and simplify.. I tried to find a way to ask Naomi Klein if she had a take on the situation from the Shock Doctrine angle, but her blog doesn’t allow comments. I would love to know what she’s thinking these days.
My liberal big government just bailed out your conservative free market.

Dubya as The Dangler.
It looks like that is his style. It begins with Cheney soliciting applications for the vice presidency from leading Republicans in that inimitable Cheney way. It reads like a LeCarre novel.
Is that like our karma running over their dogma?
FunnyD
Dubya as The Dangler.
“Cipher”?
“DryDrunk”?
“PO
tuS”?Chum.
Old rule: “The nine most terrifying words in the English language are: ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help.’”
New Rule: “The nine most terrifying words in the English language are: ‘I’m from the free market and need government help.’”
Cheney provided a lengthy and detailed form for prospective VP Candidates to fill out and return to him for analysis (thereby getting some dirt on these fellow Republican creepazoids). Of course, Cheney never filled out the form that he required others to do.
St. Ronnie’s late for the depression party.

does st johns wort help that?
Heh, here fishy…! ;-)
I guess that the terrorists have won now. The Government has taken over AIG, which means the godless gubmint has triumphed over the invisible (and still dead) hand of Adam Smith.
CT, Did you see this? Interesting they would discuss it at all right now, much less pretend to agree to it, even though it’s non binding as best I can tell.
US, Iraq agree to new guidelines on private security firms: ICRC
MONTREUX, Switzerland, Sept 17, 2008 (AFP) – The United States and Iraq are among 17 states who have agreed to a new series of recommendations on the use of private military and security firms, the Red Cross said Wednesday,
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) presented the so-called Montreux document at a joint press conference with the Swiss Foreign Ministry, saying it stresses that private security contractors are bound by international law.
The document “outlines for the first time ever detailed and practical measures to help states enhance compliance with international humanitarian law and ensure respect for human rights,” the ICRC said.

Rethugs on tv are still espousing “You can’t tax Capital because that’s what makes jobs“.
Defending trickle-down economics using non-existant domestic jobs. No pundit refutes it.
EEEEEEWWWWWWWWW!!!
(hitting the Brain-Bleach panic button)
FunnyD
He does seem to draw the sharks and the anglers…)
Dick Cheney as The Blob. Jabba The Cheney.
Oh, and I was just catching up at another blog (which I can’t link to because of the nsfw content).
His nickname for Caribou Barbie is an anagram:
Sharia Plan
I kinda like it.
FunnyD
Co starring Sarah Palin as Princess Liar.
soliciting those applications from when that was his job I hope.
Bullshit! You can’t tax consumers, because they’re your market.
Bit of local hilarity for the day: Northern Virginia Republicans are holding a “unity rally” to appeal to ethnic minorities in the area. (They claim they’ll get 1000 people! But that’s not the funny part.) The headline speaker?…
George “Macaca” Allen!
Bonus hilarity:
No matter how much you demonize immigrants, no matter how much the neighboring Republican-run county implements policies with the openly declared intent of making it impossible for “illegals” to live there (and little concern for whether they’re sweeping up legal residents with the wrong skin tone or accent), it’s always just a PR problem. Right…
Wow! Very, very nice. Here’s to the ICRC. Would the next Senate ratify?
No,I hadn’t seen it! Mahalo! Isn’t it sad that it had to be drawn up at all…? 8-(
Btw, sovereignty issues are still the major sticking points…
No problem. “Deficits don’t matter,” so you don’t tax either…
John Vanderslice Who?
Sure, an SF resident, with a studio that produces other unknowns.
Pretty obscure name, and even more obscure music.
And, I don’t really like it.
Boooorrrrriiiinnnngggggg . . . . bad art, too.
The City does much better . . . than this.
Harumph . . . .
If Ronald Reagan were alive today, he’d turn over in his grave.
Dugg it!
dugg and thanks neuro
We’ll all be dead. Tax our great-grandchildren.
I liked it and it grew on me the more I listened to it.. Didn’t know he was from SF.. Thanks for that. As a former ten year resident of the Haight.. I can say many would love him and many wouldn’t. If you think I am going to be posting mainstream (less obscure) stuff in late late nite.. well I’m sorry to say you are in for a lot of disappointment. Half the fun about art is the critique, imo, anyhow.
Who knows what tomorrow night will bring…)
Hiya, pups!
I was on Allen Coulmes’ radio call-in program an hour or so ago, for a half hour. He said I did good, but I was nervous as hell….
We’re starting to get the word out to more and more people about Sarah.
Congrats, ET!
Have to go PodCast-hunting…
Is Allen a right winger?
I’m sorta afraid to go looking…
ET!!!!
You da bomb! I’m sure you were great.
Newton, come back with a linky, OK?
FunnyD
I cannot believe I’m linking this…
• Phil Munger, Alaskan activist and editor of the “Progressive Alaska” blog, sheds some light on Sarah Palin’s extreme beliefs, most notably on creationism.
It’s a good day for the blues.
Colmes is Sean Hannity’s allegedly “liberal” partner, right?
No, but he’s a right-wing enabler on the FAUX H-C show. I got some hostile calls.
The one I nailed best, I think, was a cab driver from Vegas, who asked “You claim she’s 1000% unqualified. How do you explain her 80% plus popularity in Alaska, then?”
I said something like, “In Alaska, one of our nicknames for Gov. Palin is MOOSElini. Another Mussolini had 90% popularity.”
Pups, in a very few minutes, Firedoglake and the sister-blogs are going to have a maintenance period, and the sites will be unavailable.
There will be a banner up and we will be back as soon as possible.
Thanks very much!
Would anyone know if the meaning of the word “curs” could mean something aside from dog or coward? Is there an old slang type of usage of the word curs?
My computer will never forgive me, now…! ;-)
Where do you click to listen to ET?
Sweet. Zing!
McCain:
“Lehmmings, AIGers and Bears, oh my!”
Hi OFG
Crap, just logged on and they have to change the oil in the tubes.
Hola neuro!
I don’t know. Maybe they wait until later to post them.
Hey ES how goes it?? Is everything in your neck of the woods getting back to normal??
‘night pups. Good to see y’all, even if it’s been a bit quiet tonight.
Happy maintenance to the backstage crew. Thanks for your efforts.
FunnyD
well, that didn’t take too long
Hey Suz! It works!
hey newton, it soy-tan-lee does
Jumping in without playing catch-up so don’t know if you’re still about but have been meaning to ask if anyone had started it yet; planning to purchase ASAP. Interviews I’ve seen with one? of author(s?) on TV have been interesting.
Just catching up on the 2/3/4 a.m. reruns of Keith, Rachel and
tTweety. (Ah, shoot! I’ll even give the twit a capital “T” for the day after he went after that republic rep.) It was matthews at his worst wrt interviewing techniques but, when they support *our* side, I ain’t gonna complain. *g* As others have observed, he must be losing his @ss in the market this week.g’morning waccamaw – how goes?
attaturk upstairs with the warm embrace of a job well done
Well, the week’s definitely starting to look up, politically speaking. *g*
How ’bout you, darlin’? Heading upstairs; will check back later.
