The folks at Mudflats are shocked, shocked, I say:
This one didn’t surprise me. The Associated Press is now reporting that Sarah Palin will no longer be cooperating with the Troopergate investigation. Actually, I’m not sure if she ever was cooperating with the Troopergate investigation. So far her cooperation has involved:
1. Saying she was going to cooperate.
2. Reiterating that she was going to cooperate.and….that’s about it.
As Mudflats points out, the Troopergate investigation began with a unanimous vote in the Republican-controlled legislature in Alaska to proceed in this investigation of Palin’s alleged abuse of power. And Palin repeatedly vowed to cooperate fully with the investigation back in July.
Now? Not so much — and not without a nudge from the McCain campaign to state GOP folks urging help with Palin’s resistance efforts:
Coghill, who is on the Alaska Legislature’s Legislative Council, the body that appointed French to oversee the investigation, told Newsweek that he wrote his letter to French on his own and without interference from the McCain campaign.
But a "top McCain campaign official" told the magazine that a GOP lawyer had given the campaign a "heads up" about Coghill’s letter and that it approved of the effort to remove French.
Welcome to politically motivated stall tactics 101, kids. And it looks like they are taking a page or two from Dick Cheney and Karl Rove’s bag of tricks.
Thus far, there has been selective leaking of e-mails while others are secreted away from public scrutiny, use of outside e-mail addresses to evade evil prying eyes in government, forcing subpoenas for cooperation and then stalling after issuance before threats and intimidation tactics erupt to push things past an election deadline…you know the tap dance. We’ve been watching it for the last eight years inside the Beltway.
Next thing you know, Palin will have to buy a man-sized safe to store her most important "treat as secret" documents. Who says a pitbull with lipstick can’t learn all the old Rove and Cheney tricks?

see here’s the deal;
co-operate…this means they will both be operating their perspective, if she can get the investigation to operate along the avenue she prefers, that will be co-operating
if she can’t, well then the investigation would not co-operate
Fixed it.
I can see Russia from my house!
Sarah Palin=Dick Cheney– ie., Lipstick on a Dick
Whether she cooperates or not…the action to stop the investigation is an obstruction of justice by the GOP…right?
All the time we’ve spent talking about her lack of qualification. Palin is abundantly qualified in the one respect which matters to Republicans, a complete absence of ethics.
She is not as bright as, but just as frightening as Cheney.
Christy, nice photo accompaniment, BTW.
This merely shows that Palin is a sleaze. The central issue remains that she is totally unqualified for the VP slot.
Digg is open.
Impeach Palin Now?
Palin is Geroge Bush with a vajayjay. She’s dense to the point of stupid, and egotistical to the extreme. Just like George. Another perfect puppet for the Neocons.
FYI – a really good site re: Palin -
http://www.grizzlybay.org/SarahPalinInfoPage.htm
I had thought no campaign/election tactics could sink lower than those of 2000/2004. Alas, I am again just naive and insufficiently creative.
This is starting to be seriously depressing.
It is clear to me that the Neocons are setting up a puppet government headed by idiots…a government that can “appear” to win the election by a hair, with the help of voter fraud, etc., then Cheney, Wolfowitz, Rummy…will continue to operate from the shadows. It is so obvious.
And if investigation goes forward, which it is, they will sue (actually already have).

For future posting, Christy, I do have a photo I took this weekend in the tall timber of bear poopie, planning to do a homeblog posting along the lines of “just because you didn’t see the bear shit in the woods, doesn’t mean he didn’t do it…”
But in the furtherance of graphic representation of all that is the McCain Palin campaign and John McCain’s dishonorable discharge of lies and spin, I’d be happy to share said photo with you or any blogger.

You ought to see some of the negative ads Gordon Smith is running against Merckel!!
The lowest of the low.
He must be real skeered!
It is so obvious to us. But how do we make it so obvious to the rest of the population, without an independent media?
Obama campaign countering McCain campaign’s claims of partisan pre-conclusion of the investigation as “complete paranoia”…
No need to buy; I’ll bet she already has one of these.
More importantly, it will be business as usual for their prime constituency, Halliburton, KBR, Blackwater, etc..
Just keep on pointing it out and connecting the dots.
A bit of tension between the way the Palin camp is depicting the camp and the way the investigators themselves are. 3-2 vote to issue subpoenas included a Wasilla Republican, vote to launch the investigation was bipartisan unanimous.
Isikoff tells Sanchez on CNN.
Yup. They have way too much invested and at stake to walk away from the WH. I just dread what they have coming down the pipes in order to retain power. I hope that I am just paranoid.
ooops, Palin camp depicting the investigation
Repubs are saying it is a McCarthyite type of investigation…Isikoff points out that it began way before she was asked to be a VP contender.
From ADN Political blog:
Isikoff is pointing out that her staff convened a meeting in the Governors office regarding Wooten….and with other things…points toward the allegation that she was using her power to control a personal matter from an official position.
Isikoff: High stakes matter. No question this is of great deal of significance to McCain campaign…they are worried that a report will be released on eve of election and undermine the campaign…that is what they are worried about and want to thwart the investigation.
Isikoff: McCain campaign devoting so much time and resources to thwarting this investigation because this is high stakes.
“…Palin will have to buy a man-sized safe to store her most important ‘treat as secret’ documents.”
Snark of the lowest caliber:
“…Palin stores documents inside her safe man-sized treat.”
[I couldn’t help it. Bad humor is sometimes the only way I can cope with the forces of darkness. Meanwhile, I wonder how many more documents Todd can hold. Please keep laxatives away from the human file cabinet. (eww)]
Smoking gun?
Hey, EdwardTeller, pretty exciting up in your neck o’the woods these days. So glad you are on scene to keep us informed.
I heard a reference to something coming out about the Anchorage airport…that everybody in Alaska knows about it… ?????
Good news:
“The National Organization for Women (NOW) said Tuesday it had been pushed by the Republicans pick of Sarah Palin as vice presidential nominee to back Democrat Barack Obama for the White House.
“NOW is going to be endorsing the Obama-Biden ticket,” NOW head Kim Gandy told National Public Radio (NPR), referring to Obama and his running mate Joseph Biden.
The 500,000-strong women’s movement, which “very, very rarely endorses in a general election”, broke with its tradition of neutrality after “the addition of Sarah Palin gave us a new sense of urgency,” said Gandy.”

I had the hardest time finding a picture for this post. *g*
Agree completely but no longer trust that any versions of actual political/financial realities will be reported by the MSM.
All they seem to want is ratings from dim bulb shows.
I feel like we’re watching a broadcast from Disney World….the “Main Street Parade”. The problem is the characters have no clothes on and they’re riding on military equipment touting themes of our “successes” as a country. The park visitors (Republicans) are acting like it’s normal (and exciting) and everyone’s having a grand time.
We know we’re seeing true lunacy — and evil.
Ed O’Callahan from Alaska “Sarah want to cooperate…before the personnel board….”
shit meet fan
Love it!!!
LOL Good one.
I live in Fl. I’m a Cuba expert!!
But seriously, this gotta be “more of the same” “this is change?” ‘these are mavricks?” I’ve been saying fo awhile this is the most important thing about her because if she stalls like she’s doing, this will fit into the BO/JB overarching theme and the campaign won’t get bogged down with just Palin. More important than bridges, rape kits, wolves, speaking in tongues.
OT, regarding the collapse of the U.S. economy: listening to the “liberal” NPR Morning Edition on the way to work today, the McCain campaign’s Douglas-Holtz-Eakin was given nearly five minutes to make the McCain Campaign’s case regarding the meltdown on Wall Street, including blaming the current economic woes of the working class on a lack of sufficient education (according to him, the fact that 1% of the population owns 50% of the wealth is because the rest of us don’t have enuff edjimicashun).
If you listen to the segment, four seconds before the end of the story we are informed that the Obama campaign will be heard from “in the coming days.”
Now THAT’S fair and balanced reporting from the “liberal” NPR.
Remember: the job of the main stream media is to elect John McCain.
That’s because she appointed them to the board
oooooh the delicious schadenfreude of watchin’ McCain Palin spinner sweat
I thought the vote by the judiciary committee to issue subpoenae was 3-2 and a Repub was the swing vote and the guy was from Wasilly? True?
the personnel board, the personnel board, the personnel board….
.
.
.
her personnel board.
yes.
She reads Personnel Board – her mind interprets it as Personal Board
The Rethugs in Camp McCain Palin are desperately trying to put a partisan frame around this.
The key is…this investigation was a unanimous, bipartisan decision before she was even a blip on McCain’s radar screen.
I’m envious. I’m too upset about a lot of things to go delicious schadenfreude right now.
And, I have the flu. And, we’re trying to decide which bond funds to transfer the 401k $’s to.
And, other stuff.
Another Republican stall? Quelle surprise!
And she was forwarding confidential personnel matter e-mails to her husband, Todd Palin. Not only that, but he was automatically CC’d on a lot of them. What I really want to know is what was going on with that — because that’s a huge breach of confidentiality. Whether it’s her husband, her child, her mom or her best friend from junior high, personnel records are verboten for public distribution in most cases that I know of…
I think those are some questions well worth asking. If she couldn’t keep that confidential, what else would she be sloppy about?
How can you promise reform when you yourself are under investigation for abuse of power????
personal works too
In addition, Palin subscribes to the keep the public’s business on private email and cell phones so it can’t be subpoenaed. I hope that is one reform that can be nailed down in an Obama administration.
And I even had Cuban for lunch. They were showing lots of pretty pictures of Cuba on the TV, no less.
It would seem that the lawsuit won’t go anywhere, considering that the investigation began before Sarah was even a twinkle in
Roves’sJohnny’s eye.Sorry you have the flu!! I had it about 6 weeks ago, and I’m still hacking and wheezing… :(
Feel better soon!
And what will Americans do if the Republicans steal another election through caging, intimidation, rig voting machines and a corrupt corporate media? Go shopping?
Remember, McCain claimed after the Lily Ledbetter debacle that the reason women don’t get paid equally is because we need more education and training.
i don’t know taht she’s formally claoned privilege yet but i don’t see how she can if the first dood is getting copies of the documents. i don’t think it’s a question of privilege but rather that at this point she’s just saying screw you. I’m very appreciative for you staying on top of the investiagtion-rel;ated stuff. i can’t say enough how I think this is the important issue about palin.
Thank you. Pushing cranberry juice and I just made a mostly chicken broth soup.
I don’t do sick very well.
Who knows, she might even take classified documents home with her at night because she can’t remember the combination on her man-sized safe! *g*
It’s a bit tough to claim privilege when you’ve already waived it, isn’t it? And yes, I’d quite agree that an abuse of power allegation, on top of any number of other questions along those lines, would be at the top of my list of crap we don’t need — AGAIN — in the Veep spot. Or elsewhere, for that matter.
Our friends at Cosmic Variance have something to say regarding McCain’s claims that Obama supported “foolish planetariums.”
Yes, and I’m certain Lily appreciated that a lot, given that her retirement account is far less than her peers who held the same job, since she was getting paid so much less all those years just because she had boobies and her retirement was based on her earned income. I’m certain she thanks John McCain for that sage advice each and every time she has to pinch pennies to purchase her groceries.
Asshat.
Julia upstairs.
Pawlenty now dissembling and sidestepping and politicizing the Palin Troopergate mess on CNN.
Please tell me whomever is doing the interview at least has the balls to ask how an investigation can be politicized when it is initiated by a Republican-controlled legislature which voted unanimously to get it started?
Thanks for that, ET — missed that earlier today. Useful stuff.
re: my list of crap we don’t need …
I’m l-l-looking d-d-down Pooh.
I wish I was as wise as Piglet.
I’m a keeping a list type of person, although I don’t post it anywhere. I like the feeling it gives me when I actually cross something off.
Do you think Ms. Palin keeps lists or does she just feel good when she’s shooting someone or something?
It’s a bit tough to claim privilege when you’ve already waived it, isn’t it?
that won’t stop her as long as it buys time.
i was thinking that, though but waiver is supposed to be knowing and intelligent. i don’t know if she’ll ever be able to meet the second part of that. i thought of it more in terms of them never being privileged at all rather than being privilged and themn the privilege waived. whatever. same result. more of the same. bush-cheney-rove(-meirs? nah.)
Ah, so she’s another uniter.
She seems like a keep a list type of person to me. As am I, frankly — but my lists tend to be things to do or to dig into more deeply. She strikes me more as the sort with a “get even” list. But maybe that’s just me…
Thanks for the Piglet quote. Do hope you feel better soon. Make sure you push fluids as you can. And do take good care of yourself.
Apparently in the Bushie-est sense of the word. *g*
my mom used to call it a shitlist. i think so too. and i think her list is in her head. she doen’t forget. just my impression of her.
A professional suggestion — if you are moving from stock funds to bond funds because of market turbulence, go to short term govt. funds if available.
Long term bond funds won’t do so well if rates start to rise.
Isn’t that like a requirement to run on their ticket?
Thanks. I am pushing the liquids. My eyeballs are floating.
It’s a good thing I’m reading a good book — Vidal’s Burr.
See everyone later. Hang tight everyone.
Somehow, I get the impression that the folks on my shit list, and the folks on her list aren’t the same people. *G*
And, one more thing…since we’re at the bottom here. Has anyone seen Barbara yesterday or today? Several days ago, she said David was having a feeding tube put in.
(((Barbara & David & family)))
sarahntodd is a unitary governor
OT On Msnbc Carly Fiorini being discussed about her $40M severence package from HP. That was good governence and besides she didn’t “take” it it was given to her
Hmmmm, I wonder if MSNBC mentioned it to Carly after I fwd Emptywheel’s post on that very subject to the NBC Brass?
if so, NEENER! carly is the very definition of ASSHAT
I was dealing with something else and glanced at the Tv about 2:15 and they were interviewing some heads and refered to program this am where she was interviewed. Fiorini is the one who called it good governance and the head that said she didn’t take it, it was given to her
