The GOP’s utter disdain for the good of this nation knows no bounds.

Even though I was on McCain’s list for a few months, I didn’t even look into it, to assess if I was ready for the job because I’m just a small town girl, small town mayor and small population state governor…but when McCain asked me, I didn’t even blink. I knew I was THE ONE for the job, even though I do not know WHAT a vice president does all day because I’m a small town person. And besides, I told Congress, on THAT bridge to Nowhere,’Thanks but no thanks!’”

Sarah supporter then backs Sarah with:

“You big city people with your big city words are so mean to Sarah. Expecting her to know what a Vice President does…You are so mean. Sarah is so pretty, nice, confident and CHRISTIAN..with a baby and a pregnant daughter so back off because she has enough to deal with. And you better watch it because she takes care of people she thinks are mean or bad…So, you big city people with your big city words that confuse Sarah in interviews – you better think about what she might do when she has more power”

This may be parody being displayed in my home to many gigggles, but the sad part is…it is the reality before us.

Ms. Palin won the primary, and in the general election she faced Tony Knowles, the former two-term Democratic governor, and Andrew Halcro, an independent.

Not deeply versed in policy, Ms. Palin skipped some candidate forums; at others, she flipped through hand-written, color-coded index cards strategically placed behind her nameplate.

Before one forum, Mr. Halcro said he saw aides shovel reports at Ms. Palin as she crammed. Her showman’s instincts rarely failed. She put the pile of reports on the lectern. Asked what she would do about health care policy, she patted the stack and said she would find an answer in the pile of solutions.

“She was fresh, and she was tomorrow,” said Michael Carey, a former editorial page editor for The Anchorage Daily News. “She just floated along like Mary Poppins.”

I remember a quote from that Poppins woman in teh disney movie “that’s a piecrust promise. Easily made, easily broken.” Like the corruption clean up in alaska.
