If there is a way for them to profit from the mortgage foreclosures they helped create … the GOP is up to the task.
The chairman of the Republican Party in Macomb County, Mich., a key swing county in a key swing state, is planning to use a list of foreclosed homes to block people from voting in the coming election as part of the state GOP’s effort to challenge some voters on Election Day.
“We will have a list of foreclosed homes and will make sure people aren’t voting from those addresses,” party chairman James Carabelli told Michigan Messenger in a telephone interview earlier this week. He said the local party wanted to make sure that proper electoral procedures were followed…
Carabelli is not the only Republican Party official to suggest the targeting of foreclosed voters. In Ohio, Doug Preisse, director of elections in Franklin County (around the city of Columbus) and the chair of the local GOP, told the Columbus Dispatch that he has not ruled out challenging voters before the election due to foreclosure-related address issues.

The Macomb County party’s plans to challenge voters who have defaulted on their house payments is likely to disproportionately affect African-Americans who are overwhelmingly Democratic voters. More than 60 percent of all sub-prime loans — the most likely kind of loan to go into default — were made to African-Americans in Michigan, according to a report issued last year by the state’s Department of Labor and Economic Growth.
And, as Eartha Jane Melzer, the person who discovered all this in the Michigan Messenger notes — the GOP loves it when a plan comes together:
…the McCain campaign’s Michigan headquarters is located in the office buildiing of Trott & Trott, a law firm that specialized in foreclosures, whose founder is a major Republican fund-raiser.
Of course, John McCain is deserving of great credit in facilitating the measures that led to the foreclosure epidemic. So I guess he feels Maverickly-enabled to take advantage of the suffering he helped cause.
Republicans claim they love America. But they sure don’t seem to like Americans much.

It’s cool here in central Jersey this morning, a first hint of fall. To all our friends in Texas, who will bear the brunt of Ike, take care of yourselves.
Mr. NJP thinks that the media is finally beginning to realize that the McCain of 2008 is not the McCain they’ve admired over the years. But I worry that the Rethuglicans [a term I’ve mostly avoided until now] will simply run against the media, as in the past.
But whenever I get panicky about the election, I donate a little money to my favorite candidates. I’ll be volunteering in October for Linda Stender, in NJ-07. I did some volunteer work for her back in 2006, when she nearly beat Mike Ferguson. Mike’s seen the handwriting on the wall, and is not running this year. The Republican candidate is actually a good guy–Leonard Lance, who currently holds a seat in the NJ State Senate. I’ve met him several times, and heard him speak [particularly on history and historic preservation issues], but if he gets elected he’ll be like Rodney Frelinghuysen: a good centrist Republican, who nevertheless votes with the party on all kinds of awful legislation. More and better Democrats, people. More and better Democrats.
I’ve got a loaf of cinnamon walnut coffee cake, hot out of the oven. And a big pot of coffee, and hot water for the tea drinkers. Help yourselves!

OK. Here’s my electoral tie. I was playonhg with an interactive map. If somebody did this on TV I didn’t see it. Far-fetched? Not that much. A prediction? Hell no. I mean, it’s not like I had McCain win Massachusetts and BO win Alaska or really stuipid stuff like that. So. Won’t happen but i thought it was interesting ’cause it’s not totally off the wall. I mean, I didn’t sit down and say “Let’s see. How can we have an electoral tie?”

Seemingly there is no amount of bad news or truth that can change the status quo – as the media is effectively part of the same corrupt criminal enterprise.
As has been repeated ad nausium – “9/11 changed everything.” Yup – it did – and it changed everything for the worse. It’s been used to justify the invasion of the Middle East under false pretense and to enable the greatest transfer of wealth in the history of planet earth. It is the PRETEXT for all that has followed. It is imprinted on the public conscience like no other event. The brainwashing has been relentless. It is ALL A LIE. ONLY by revealing the entire truth of 9/11 to the American People can they be shocked into rising up and taking their Democracy back.
According to a Zogby poll, 85% of US Troops stationed in Iraq believed that they were there on a mission to avenge the attacks of 9/11 – as perpetrated by Bin Laden. The amount of brainwashing that would be required to arrive at such a majority would require tactics akin to those of Jim Jones and his followers at JonesTown (the Kool-Aid drinkers). How has the military leadership in Iraq worked to perpetuate this myth in order to motivate the troops? What are the methods and tactics that have led to this result?
Their mission after the initial invasion was supposed to be that of peace keepers to restore and maintain civil order. But if they were trained to perceive the Iraqis as having been directly responsible for 9/11, might that not serve to explain the tortures, rapes, indiscriminent shootings and general disdain for the population portrayed in far too many reports?
The FBI has NO CONCLUSIVE EVIDENCE that Bin Laden was involved in 9/11. That’s because he wasn’t. There is no “Bin Laden.” It’s all just a game.
Troops are fighting and dying for a lie. Revealing the truth is our patriotic duty.
