Dave Gregory sees little difference between the candidates on the issues.

You can’t expect a man to see something he’s paid money to ignore.

Woodruff: “Can you be very specific? What exactly would you do? How exactly would you do that? We have less than a minute left.”

Amazing distillation of what’s wrong with our political discourse.

Nah, that’s just her way of screwing up the candidate by applying imaginary pressure.

I suspect that after today Obama should watch & listen to Bill Clinton’s style and utilize some of that. He needs to become a bit smoother and mix some light humor in with his articulation of ideas. No more frowning and stammering, just smoooooth, like ridin’ a nice gentle wave.

“Our economy is broken.”

The policies of George W. Bush and John McCain’s adviser Phil Gramm have almost ground it to a halt, but it’s still moving along. We need new energy and new direction to get it up off the ground and running at full speed.

They are having a difficult time analyzing this particular event, given its goodwill and service orientation. They’d all rather talk about lipstick/pigs, and David Gregory laughed when he almost said so.

Obama needs to get those very same foreclosure lists that the GOP is going to use to disenfranchise people. He needs to get every one of his campaign offices nationwide to prepare for a WEEKEND of canvassing in the neighborhoods affected…and to find those who are about to be disenfranchised.

Then he needs to open it all with a big speech on this issue in an area in a swing state where the GOP is doing this crap. Obama can use this as a platform to talk about patriotism, the economy, and how the McCain campaign is now pumping millions of dollars in the effort to strip Americans from the right to vote!

Have Biden in go out to another State, and the Clintons in others, Michelle in yet another- then swing out registrars and canvassers into the neighborhoods of Florida, Michigan, Virginia, Texas, Ohio, and elsewhere talking to people whose homes are threatened with foreclosure…or whose neighbors may be stripped of their voting rights. Warn them of the efforts that are going to take place at their precincts, give them contact numbers if the see “vote challengers” show up. Enlist their help.

Make this the biggest miscalculation that the GOP ever made. Americans like to live insulated lives…and rarely get excited unless they or their neighbors are impacted by the government. It’s why the VietNam war was only strongly opposed once college kids started being drafted. People saw their own kids, or their neighbors, swept away to fight in a war that was irrational. In the same way, voter “caging” was something that could ignored if it happened in minority neighborhoods…but many of these areas hit with foreclosure “cancers” are in erstwhile Republican strongholds. People were already associating the foreclosure crisis with BUSH…but McCain was thought to be a “Mav’rick” and thus (perhaps) many were considering him.

But this whole caging stuff would show just how linked McCain and Bush actually are. And that McCain is simply part of the same old GOP system.

Obama can kill McCain’s “Palin momentum” and actually turn it on in the swing States and areas where independents and Republicans are being hit hard financially.
