Sarah Palin is not a reformer. She’s just another Bush/Cheney Republican.
Traveling with her and working with the press are Tracey Schmitt and Tucker Eskew…Schmitt worked on both Bush campaigns and ran the Republican National Committee communications shop before leaving a year ago to work for a biopharma company. Eskew is a longtime GOP strategist who was a top aide in the first Bush campaign and later worked in the White House before co-founding his own public affairs firm.
…
They’ll be joined at times by Nicolle Wallace, the former White House communications director who has served as a senior adviser to the McCain campaign since spring. Mark Wallace, Nicolle Wallace’s husband and another veteran of Bushworld, will lend a hand to Palin by prepping her for the lone debate against Biden, Oct. 2 in St. Louis.
…
Offering policy counsel will be Steve Biegun, a seasoned foreign policy specialist who did stints as a senior member of Bush’s National Security Council and as national security adviser to former Sen. Bill Frist, when he was Senate majority leader.
…
Back at the campaign’s Arlington, Va., headquarters, Maria Comella will work with reporters. She worked for Bush’s reelection campaign in 2004 and was a top spokeswoman in Rudy Giuliani’s primary effort. Another Bush veteran and press aide, Ben Porritt, is largely focused on going after Biden, but will also assist the Palin effort.
…
Then there is the campaign’s Last Frontier satellite: Taylor Griffin, another Bush administration veteran who had been focusing on doing press on economic issues, has been detailed to Alaska to oversee the campaign’s operation there as reporters from across the world descend on Anchorage, Juneau and Wasilla to probe a political figure who is turning out to be anything but an ordinary vice presidential nominee.
Can you feel the shaking-up? Can you feel the reform?
McSame and Palin: phony mavericks.

We need to grace every single GOP operative/tool with the nickname “Tucker.” Tucker Nicolle Wallace, Tucker Steve Schmidt, Tucker Rick Davis, Tucker Peggy Noonan, Tucker Charlie Black, Tucker Karl Rove.
And then there’s Tucker Tucker Carlson, Tucker Tucker Bounds, Tucker Tucker Eskew. It should become an honorific, like Herr Doktor in German, or -san in Japanese.
The thing is this:
Palin is NOT a Bush/Cheney Republican. She said she was for Ron Paul (but she’s not a Ron Paul type at all)…she is an ex-AIP survivalist, who believes that Alaska should secede from the United States and that Alaska is the refuge for End Days…that is who she is. She is an opportunist, and she is a woman who will use her feminine “wiles” to manipulate people into this false myth of the superwoman…she believes the world is 5,000 years old…
McCain and all of the Republicans have been had…by her…she’s a siren.
hypocrisy? from team mc$hame? color me shocked!
Can you feel the shaking-up? Can you feel the reform?
Sure. The Bush administration was bad – logistically.
“We’re stocking up on the people who were behind Bush’s entirely admirable ideas, and bring them back – to actually get the job done.”
“And then some.”
The main issue that makes Palin very dangerous is that Bush did have people around him including his Daddy that could and have put the breaks on Bush….. The ability to kind of rein him in but NO ONE has that same role for Palin…… If they get in and McCain does not last through his term then we will have Palin gone wild, no restraints and extremely dangerous……
This reminds me of a very funny thing that some soccer Dad here in the Northwest, Gary Kamiya wrote, entitled “Election 2008: Declare a forfeit”. I can just share the snippet about the roster of the team, not knowing what his copyright intentions are.
When my daughter played in the peewee soccer league, when one team fell behind by more than five or six goals, the referees called the game. The “mercy rule” is a civilized one, driven by good sportsmanship.[…]
If allowed to proceed, a McCain-Obama matchup will be a hideous reenactment of one of those 105-to-16 games between the Harlem Globetrotters and the Washington Generals, or another one of those interchangeable teams of slow, dorky white guys who stumble around missing set shots while Meadowlark Lemon and his chortling teammates spin the ball on the tips of their fingers, bounce it off their opponents’ heads, and soar in with big grins on their faces for uncontested layups.
If the 2008 GOP were a basketball team, this would be its starting lineup. (Cue strobe lights and swelling synthesizer music.) At power forward, their supposed star player … Warren Terror! (Dead silence, followed by scattered jeers.) This guy is the biggest joke in the league. The fact that coach John McCain has been forced to start him reveals just how abysmally weak the rest of his team is. Terror is a washed-up muscleman who has been coasting on his reputation as an enforcer for years, but is now recognized by all as a no-skill has-been who is detested by his own teammates. Terror’s disastrous performance in the playoff game against Iraq, in which he went 0-for-12 and fouled out in three minutes, forced even his few remaining fans to accept that his hyperaggressive play and hack-a-Saddam approach to defense was actually hurting his team. The fact that McCain and the GOP team ownership continue to pump up Terror’s long-vanished reputation (in a now-notorious press conference, they promised to play him for “10,000 years”) borders on the grotesque, since fans across the league now recognize him as an overhyped, overpaid loser. But McCain has no choice, because at small forward, he is forced to start …
Ideological Incoherence! One of the most ineffective and least-respected players in the league, Incoherence’s name will forever be linked with coach McCain’s. During the 2004 season, McCain started his favorite draftee, Kid Maverick, at small forward. But GOP team owner George W. Bush despised Maverick and ordered McCain to trade him or walk the plank. McCain caved in, released Maverick and signed Ideological Incoherence. The once-promising Kid Maverick is now out of basketball, and McCain is stuck with Incoherence. Incoherence is a triple threat: He’s a horrible ballplayer, has serious character issues and is signed to a long-term contract. Incoherence is legendary for choking in the clutch, perhaps as a result of his bizarre decision to change his shooting motion in every game. A backstabber and chameleon — “he’s the biggest flip-flopper since Manu Ginobili,” sneered one GOP scout — he has burned his bridges with every teammate he has ever played with, from Religious Right to Tax Cuts to Immigration Reform to Domestic Spying to Legal Torture.
What’s written on Palin’s teleprompter ain’t worth the powder it would take to blow it to hell.
I decided after reading about the per diem scandal that the only change that interests Palin is change she can put in her pocket.
And then maybe McLame will become just plain tuckered out.
He was pretty close to that before he got rejuvenated by Palin.
Bob in HI
Or the power it takes to run it.
If someone would just unplug it . . .
Enh. On policy, she’s Bush Cheney all the way.
John McCain has no honor. Tucker Eskew was responsible for slandering his adopted child as McCain’s illegitimate child with an African-American woman.
Could we call Cindy, Miss Nip Tucker?
Believe me…Kissinger (the Godfather) is right there..he was at the Puke convention…these fools think they have control over her…but, it is my theory that they have no idea what they have taken on…she will not ultimately cooperate…her goals are so totally different than theirs…she may pretend to go along with it, but I doubt it in the long run. She is challenging the NWO authors…but she is as slick as they come, and she will try to meld with them initially and then turn them on their end…the problem is…her end is totally out there…McCain is somewhere in the middle…conforms, because he wants “power”, which they will NEVER give him.
This is nuts, but that is how it works.
Like I said..she is a siren…like in Odysseus…she will enchant them..and lure them…to….kinda like a mermaid….
And he fiddles on that wedding ring while Cindy burns.
Why is that the women with money always wind up with the worst plastic surgeons?
That’s a great photo. You can’t even see the puppet strings, on either of them. Of course, they could be sockpuppets which would explain the strained smiles.
She is one heartbeat from being the ruler of the entire free world. Let that sink in…she has no problem with that….that takes a certain mentality..a certain confidence…which she clearly exhibits.
I’d expect it from someone with experience..the fact that she thinks that she is prepared is nothing short of some kind of insanity.
She is delusional.
A little slander is just the price of doing business in me-me-me-McCain’s world.
This is at TPM. Some of the projects funded by those earmarks to Alaska:
Yup.. and her meme is not power to women, but power to the rapists.
Maybe it’s because we just finished dinner,
Or, maybe it’s because this latest political drama has exhausted me — and that would include nightmares…
But, I read your comment…
She is one heartbeat from being the ruler of the entire free world…
as She is one heartburn from being…
John McCain has no honor. Tucker Eskew was responsible for slandering his adopted child as McCain’s illegitimate child with an African-American woman.
No honor, no shame, and no balls.
the ‘balls’ and the p***y of this ticket are misplaced between the presidential and the vice-presidential candidates.
very good. *g*
Ding. She is not “in favor” of rapists..she is “in favor” of whatever moves her agenda forward…She wants to “punish” the women who “got themselves” raped….if they had not been rapable..they wouldn’t have needed the rape kits..so, those kits should not be provided to the victims that “asked for it”…it is “the victim’s fault” .making themselves attractive to that sort of crime..like what they wear or whatever…talk about “projection”…!!!!
Her version of behavior modification…sounds kinda like Germany in the 30’s…
She sure gives me hearburn and angina too!!! We cannot have this happen that these people prevail…it cannot happen..I’ll fight tooth and nail…no, no, no, no, no.
Good thinking. Makes her scarier yet.
And she wants women to have the rapist baby. I call that pro rapist.
BTW current non-permalinked picture of Ike and 3 day cone for its projected path.

Palin is a loose nuke with lipstick scrawled on it. Worse than Pakistan.
She simply has no heart.
Sign of the times?
Ike is headed straight to my house. But I have found a place for myself and Texteen to evacuate to this weekend. Not safe for me to be alone.
Help!!!I think I’ve had an overdose of Palin!!!!
Quick what’s the antidote??
OT – did I read today that all of Charlie Gibson’s choices for Mrs. Palin’s “questioning” tomorrow were pre-vetted by Steve, umm, Tucker Steve Schmidt?
I think Palin was following one of the GOP’s guiding principles, which is that you don’t make any genuine effort to reduce or eliminate social ills, you figure out how to maximize their profit potential. I wouldn’t be surprised if Palin knows the people who own the company that sells the rape kits. Also, you wouldn’t want to tap the local tax base to pay for them, make the victims pay, at least until you can obtain a federal earmark to subsidize it.
Yeah, I’ve been following it closely. We are probably gonna get it big time even in Central Texas (Central Texas could experience Cat. 2 inland)…it appears that Galveston/Houston has Rita fatigue and is not going to evacuate at the same rate as last time…it could turn their way easily…worrisome. Right now, we are all still in the line of fire…
This is one gigantor of a storm that is getting much less press than the much smaller ones preceding it….
Gulf Coast…heads up!
Take good care.
I’m getting fortified to hear KO’s special comment.
My calming tea.
Would you – or anyone else — care to join me?
We’re worried too!!
Contact lenses.
I swear, it may never stop raining. I mow my lawn with my hip-waders on. /s The entire spring and summer has been cleaning mildew form everything. No dusting at all.
So she knows the questions in advance? What the hell kind of an interview is that?
My nephew (national guard) is already down in Galveston helping to evacuate nursing homes and hospitals. He was there last week for Gustav.
Did they get to nix any of the questions? Or just see them?
Rather than worry, we should celebrate the fact that this campaign is being run by the same people who brought us the most unpopular president in modern times.
Betsy, please be safe. The projections at stormpulse.com have the winds still at 105 mph when Ike is close to you. Evacuation sounds like an excellent idea. Please keep us posted.
WTF???
or anyone else — care to join me?
I’m witcha – missed it the first time around – Number One Son on the phone.
It’s probably not a good for anyone to be alone during a disaster.
Thinking about you and Texteen’s safety.
arghh – ’scuse me while I try to remember and find where I saw or heard that…..
The baby of the rapist is probably a blood relative on both sides. I think it might have been on Rachel Maddow’s show last night that someone mentioned that Alaska has the most cases of rape and incest per capita of any state. Small town values we could all do without…
Worried about the hurricane, oh you should be. I was in Miami for Andrew.
OT: Obama was definitely not comparing Palin to a pig, out of respect for the feelings of pigs.
Fixed for ya – no charge.
A Pastor Rick Warren kind?
Why do I look at Sarah Palin and think Jimmy Swaggart, Tammy Faye Bakker, the chicken lady….?
Texteen and I are moving in with one of my tutoring colleagues and her family for the weekend. He gets a couch and I get a murphy bed, and we’re bringing both laptops. I’ll be around here, and perfectly safe with them for the weekend.
Son– a good excuse, but, still…
lemon, tea, milk or straight up?
Thank-you, pigs are VERY intelligent (and tasty).
So glad to hear that. The news is so scant. We have family Clearwater/Kemah, and I dunno…the evacuations are just not serious…
This storm is humongous…it will take up most of the entire Gulf of Mexico and there is very little coverage…there are millions of people that need to “get out of the way” now!
I don’t understand it. It is 50% larger than Celia…and comparable to “Carla”…
Like all hurricanes, it will have a mind of its own and probably change directions at the last minute and surprise unsuspecting people…sigh. Pay attention.
Right now, I’ve heard that Austin could get up to 100 mph winds…that is not good…
There you go. It would not be an apt comparison. ‘Nuff said.
When will the interview be aired?
I am at the top of a hill. Nothing to stop the wind from coming right into the apartment. That’s why we’re leaving.
straight up, thanks. *g*
So, what’s with McCain criticizing Obama for voting to protect kindergartners from sexual predators? Whom does McCain seek to protect?
Palin is a true, blue American woman.
Nothing artificial about Sarah.
Ahem, just saying.
(((LS and Bets)))
yes Tex, be safe
LS, have you made contingency evacuation plans ? the mister and I haven’t even discussed it – jeebus,
Cat 2 this far north ? do I really want to check your Stormpulse ? X~o
anyone checked in with Gnome et Ms wangdang ?
The question answers itself…it is the party of Foley and Co., after all…
Preach one thing, live another. I could swear there is a commandment against lying like a rug.
TexBetsy, I’m at the top of the hill too, in the Hill Country, and we’ve been wondering whether to stay or go…it’s scary.
McCain surrogate on the News Hour tonight was still defending that line of attack… They should change the name of the campaign to Lying Liars, Inc.
yes. chatting with both of them over at the beach house right now.
Marcy Wheeler across the hall!
What Republicans REALLY Mean When They Say Drill! Baby! Drill!
This is fun. McCain criticized Wasilla earmarks…while Palin was mayor.
What does that say about Same ol’ Same ol’ john?
Hey! Smart Texan Chicks. Make a contingency plan, please. We want you to be healthy and safe.
Ninth, I think.
At this very moment, I’m hearing that the track is moving north..toward Galveston/Houston…that is really bad for Houston….
Stay tuned.
That will mean that Austin will NOT get the damage that has been predicted, but that can change the other way again in the next couple of days.
A Cat 4 in Houston is potentially catastrophic…
The real problem is that is just creeping along at 7mph over very warm water, think intensification at that speed it will just grow and grow(:>((
ty
The 11 pm ET projections look a little better (more like on tropical storm force winds) for your area, but caution is still best…
Oh Lurkie…is that our late nite for tonight? Just wondering. Got that It’s 8:00 thing still in my head.
Yup. It will change a lot between now and landfall, but this is one gigantic storm, it will affect a huge area.
sounds like Rita. shudder. I’m sure you recall the fear up here was palpable – coming right on the heels of Katrina – damn, I do not want to feel that again – and of course I don’t want it for Houston – catastrophic indeed
Take care and best wishes to all in the storm’s path and aftermath.
By Mike Tremoglie and John P. Connolly, The Bulletin, 09/10/2008:
Stripping away the spin, no more troops will be coming home on Bush’s watch, i.e., no return and, therefore, no success, regardless of what
that foolObama says.my nephew has been in the nat’l guard for the past four hurricanes and tropical storms. i am very proud of the work he does at times like these. wish his colleagues were all here and not in iraq and afghanistan.
OOPS!! “sping” => “spin”
My brother-in-law and girlfriend drove up from Kemah to Austin for Rita…took them 20hours to drive a trip that normally takes 3 1/2 hours…then 5 hours later they drove back…Gawd. This time, they won’t leave and will go to a house on “slightly” higher ground in the Houston area… Oy vey.
No one knows where this will really go. We shall see. I’m also hearing that illegals won’t go to shelters in TX, because they are afraid of ICE roundups…FYI
Go. I know you have your animals to worry about, but…
We won’t “go” unless the winds are around 100mph…I doubt that will happen, but I’m not quite sure yet..Mr. LS has gigs in Austin (if there is power), and I’ll go with him…I doubt that it will be that severe here, but there is a chance that Austin could have the eye go right over it…like I said, I doubt that exact forecast will hold..I think we’re in a vortex..or as a weather person said..”a scotch guard wall” that stops those storms..we’ll see as we get closer. I’m mostly worried about severe wind and lack of power to keep the well pump and water running…the people along the coast have the real problems, not us at this point in time…I hope…I’m a little nervous about it though.
TexB, where are you exactly? And where are you going?
Will Sarah Palin be one of the subjects in a TV show 10 years from now that asks the question “Where are they now?”
All it means is that he didn’t realize this money was going to a Republican; IOKIYAR. Were it going to a Democrat, it would have been “pork.” But, given that it went to a Republican, it was “infrastructural-renewal funding.”

McCain-Palin – Change they believe they can put in their pockets!
Language like that certainly isn’t appropriate on the campaign trail, but it does lead one to ask, who is wearing the pants on that ticket?
Better still-
The McCain/Palin ticket: Who on top?
The more we see of Palin the more she makes us think of George W. Bush. Is it any wonder the Bush-huggin’ McCain picked her? I think he sees something of himself in Bush and her, so the only question inquiring minds want to know is when he’s gonna (try to) give her THE BIG HUG.
We need to grace every single GOP operative/tool with the nickname “Tucker.”
This is not a new idea. I’ve been doing that ever since Nixon. What? Starts with a T? Oh, never mind.
