Questions, questions questions, always the questions. Here’s one
Is the zed really dead?
priceless Attaturk
It took a while, but I sent the questions to Gibson
via the comments page
took a number of sends onaccountata the 500 character limit.
Palin hates cats.
when you lose the cheezburger vote, I think you lose
pundit kitchen
jes readin them questchuns makes me wish we could import sum jurnalists that bleeve news aint jes innertainment. but that aint lackly since the owners deetermine who they hire, n they aint hirin folks to ast publicans hard questchuns.
Would teh Spotlight work too for that purpose? Perhaps questions could be sent to other journalists as a checklist of what Charlie asks.
(laughing)
I love you, El.
I like that idea - anyone want to split the list up with me?
Also, I’ve noticed that the DIGG-master sleeps sometimes, and Attaturk’s post get short-shrift, so if you would be so kind as to DIGG this excellence?
Thank you.
Greta “I Vant To Be Alone” Palin is a stalking horse. We should give her what she vants and leave her alone. There’s eight weeks left, this trail isn’t leading anywhere, and we’re wasting time.
John McSaim is four more years. John McSaim is owned by lobbyists. John McSaim is too old to be president. John McSaim is mentally unstable. John McSaim.
Good morning, pups. It’s Bobo and Herbert today. Poor, poor Bobo. Looking into the abyss yet again he gives us “Surprise Me Most,” in which he suggests that if he were advising Barack Obama and John McCain, he’d tell them to double down on weirdness. Well, honey, weirdness is what you have to do when you have no other leg to stand on. Issues will work for our side, but thanks for thinking of us. Mr. Herbert tells us to “Hold Your Heads Up,” and reminds us forcefully that without the contribution of liberals, the United States would be a much, much worse place than it is today.

The coffee and tea are ready, and I’ve got a selection of bagels with cream cheese. We were in the market yesterday and I also got some smoked salmon, which is the closest you can get to lox here. I supposed I’ll have to look at ABC for that interview. I’d better start rolling socks now…
Color me extremely unsurprised. People with, ahem, “control issues” generally do. If you can’t boss it around why have it around? It would be interesting to find out how many Republicans in Congress have cats…
The bigger question, How many Cats would have Republicans?
Cats don’t take just anyone for personal assistants. ;-)
You’re correct, of course! However, there may be some doing research, hoping to find a cure for Republicanism…
Brave things, them that are. ;-)
There aren’t enough socks in the whole world……………….
We call ‘em wasp lox
Did you Eliot@3 sexy sarah doesn’t like cats! That’s it for me, I could get by creationism, anti-choice, lying, religious nut fuck and all the other bad shit but not liking cats! WTF
Oh Morning all!
Oven mitts, old T-shirts, anything soft will do. I’m considering getting a few packages of 500 cotton balls, just in case….
Well, I am a WASP, but as a born and raised New Yorker I also understand lox! We used to make regular pilgrimages to Zabar’s…
Good Morning, It doesn’t matter what Sarah is asked. She lies with a smile on her face and the media had decided it is not their job to correct her. During Gibson’s interview she will take the time to explain how she was protecting her kin from the bad Wooten. Of course it will never be pointed out that she fired somebody else out of vindictiveness.
Good Morning, Firepups!
It’s cool and clear here in central Jersey, with heavy thunderstorms in the forecast today. We don’t actually need the rain–the remnants of Hanna dropped three inches here last Saturday. To Firepups in the southeast, I wish I could send this to you. I know you need it, but Mother Nature has some other ideas right now.
Ezra Klein over at The American Prospect has a few excellent posts about media coverage of politics, especially coverage of Palin and McCain “Why the Press Can’t Report the Campaign” and “Was the Media Too Hard on Palin?”.
I’ve got some fresh bagels on the counter, with plenty of cream cheese, butter, and some delicious black raspberry preserves. There’s a big pot of coffee and some hot water for the tea drinkers here at the Lake. Help yourselves.
Work for peace, every day.
Not long after arriving in this country I was taken on a trip to New York, introduced to bagels (and Nathan’s Hot Dogs) and have been a bagel hound ever since. We can’t get “real” bagels up here in NH so I have to make my own once in a while.
This morning I am off to the store to get commercial bagels however as you have tempted me.
What colour is sexy sarah’s lip stick? Does she wear boxers or briefs? Inquiring minds and all that….
Lots of bagels here at the Lake this morning! {{waves hello to Marion}}
Didn’t pick up lox here today–trying to keep the sodium level low these days.
I guess the line now is that palin supported a “link to nowhere” but not the boondoggley bridger and when she came into office she redirected the money to a bumnch of projects.
Anyone? I tought that earmark had alraedy been cancelled or withdrawn or whatever you do to take back and earmark, before she became governor. As for supporting a link but not a big bridge, what kind of “link” did she have in mind? A pontoon bridge? I think she’ll explain that we all don ‘t know Alaska and that even though it has only, like, 3 residents Ketchikan is a very important place. Which may be. But that doesn’t mean she can get credit for stopping something that was already halted before she became governor.
Know what? After ethis interview, unless she fucks up bad, what I say about Plain is.. to borrow a line from Barach …. enough!!!! Barc ak did right yesterday. Only talk about her in the context of beingh more of the same. Or not at all. Otherwise you’re getting off message.
Zabars? Yum-o. From NJ but lived close to the City (closer than some people in the City). Great place My sister used to live and work on a restaurant near there.
in a restaurant. not on.
Right… Oooh, are those Ferragamo? LOVE those frames… who’s the designer? Why don’t you give McCain one of your BIG flag pins so he could find it to wear? Do you do your own hair? It’s just FABULOUS! There are any number of burning questions that need to be addressed.
Ding!
Part of the problem is there’s so little known about her record, the minders are gonna have her prepped for pretty much all the expected hard-ball questions and gibson doesn’t have the equipment (y’know the kind I mean) or brain power to ask “gotcha” questions. It might hurt the thugs widdle feelings. :-(
latest Fox/Rasmussen swing-state poll has FL tied and McSame ahead by 7 (!) in Ohio. Poll is from 9/8. They have PA as a swing state.
Here’s where to get more complete polling data than you can shake a stick at. Fear not…
Q. In small towns do women stretch money by also using those things that keep potato chip bags closed as hairclips? Do you? Does it make your hair smell like sour cream and onion? Does that attract mooses?
I don’t. I was pleased to see FL tied as of 9/8 according to FOX/Rasmussen. We can win here. If he does, that’s HUGE. Remember though, we have fucked up ballots and an anit-gay referrendum.
I’m going to stock up on my tums.
The anti-gay amendment will bring out the fundies. If Barack would unleash the 527’s they could run an ad showing Sarah’s church anti-Israel views.
I’m not seeing any Barack ads on TV altjhough I really don’t watch TV much so maybe that doesn’t mean much.
Thanks for that link.
I was playingy with an interaactive electoral map and without trying one of my scenarios came out a tie. Unlikely? Very. But…… Well, interesting. (Don’t ask what it was. I forget)
Attaturk,
A big question if she isn’t ready to campaign on day one how could she possibly be ready to sit behind the big desk if Mc Cain folds?. Myself ,I am tired of immature amateurs sitting behind that desk.
I don’t mind having palin holed up in CT to learn about foreign stuff. having her off the trail is OK with me. I think she’s plenty ready to campaign. In my view, she is very capable of campaigning by herself but doesn’t because McCain needs her at his side. It’s not that she can’t.
Holed up in Alaska. HAHHAHA. I was thinking abouit Liebermann being her teacher.
Republicans gave us the last eight years. Our military is stretched to the limits, our non existing energy policy has left the world in shambles and our economy is on the brink of a depression. John McCain is a repub and Sarah Palin is a repub. It should not be that hard to explain to the American public.
I’m saving this post to see if any of those questions are asked. My bet, no.
Does she just support home-schooling or does she home-school her own children?
First ya got to get them to know what IS is, and train them to keep that in their heads for longer than an hour.
’snot. tThat’s why it’s not good to get distracted by bullshit. I don’t really give a damn if Sarah Plain speaks in tongues. Good for her. As long as she goes back to Alaska to do it. Issue = McCain/Palin. 4 more years of the same.
Normally, I agree with you, Solai. But i don’t have a problem with home-schooling. Even if I did, I think like Barack said–it’s a big campaign that shouldn’t be about small things. I don’t think home schooling is a big deal.
The problem is, even the thug ticket doesn’t take the WH, we won’t have seen the last of her. If not VP this go-’round, the woman is gonna be a PITA for decades to come. :-(
The other meme I’m laughing at is the ‘milf’ nonsense. Rush calls her a babe, Donny D makes some remark about being in bed with her, lots of references to her being a pageant winner. Really…wtf? It reminds me of when they were all saying how good looking Fred Thompson was. Just more selling of a ridiculous story. She’s a nice-looking middle aged woman, period. This campaign to make her more than that is just more rovian nonsense.
My guess is the extra time before the interview is needed by the Palins for training their children.
When Gibson appears they’re going to be performing like the Von Trapp kids singing “So Long, Farewell“.
Morning all,
Another question: Should the ten commandments be displayed in public bldgs?
Do you that one about bearing false witness should apply to politics?
FWIW, something is smellin’. From about the time Russia entered South Ossetia, they were calling for observers from the EU to take up positions to observe. The Russians called for these same observers to be present in the buffer zone the russian army created after South Ossetia was attacked by Georgian Army units in the middle of the night on sleeping civilian towns. Russia has been calling for these observers when it agreed to the truce with Georgia. Russia promised to withdraw from the occupied zone shortly after the asked for observers were in place. All Russia got from the US and the EU was silence, not a sound.
It is getting hard to find reference to these reports that have appeared in the European media. It is like the archives are being laundered to support the EU NeoCon Cabal of government heads in their attacks on Russia. Is anyone else having the same experience? It concerns me that the electronic archives can be manipulated to show whatever issue the governing class may wish to present. Maybe I’m being paranoid.
Wake up
preview
Do you think that one…….
Yup. She’s got the ego that needs stroking, too, so she’s gonna be around.
I’m thinking that her per diem charges is a story with legs. Not looking good for such a fiscal conservative.
A zed is available upstairs at the SWIM
Question to Gibson and ABC (after “interview”): What were the pre-conditions you agreed to before landing the
fluff pieceinterview with Sarah Palin? In Michigan McSaim appears to be running 3 ads to 1 for Obama.
Would that have been an 81mm mortar or a 105mm mortar?
Hates cats. You know where she fits in my book. Got something here for ya, Sarah.
Palin IS the lipstick on the 8-year pig of a Republican rule.
Oh great so in effect, Palin as mayor actually financially penalized rape victims (or their families, since victims are often minors). There has to be a law against that. Palin and Shortride.
Palin and banning books from reposted 1996 article. What’s interesting according to this article, is that Palin didn’t seemed interested in how library policy works– nationwide really–, she just seemed intent on pushing the idea of censorship like a blunt hammer, and wasn’t interested that book banning is unconstitutional.
The article has this:
But this does not address how the library fared after Emmons resigned. Did Palin back off or did she get her sticky hands all over library collection policy with a new director? In effect, a new library director who met Palin’s approval could have banned books by excluding them from acquisition.
Sarah McPalin supports the right of a rapist to pick the mother of his baby.
If Jesus didn’t want the baby born, He would have made the rapist limp. So every sperm/egg match is a union made in heaven, and as such, it is our duty to finish god’s Will.
Trojan Moose according to Arianna.
Sarah McPalin:
When god created earth 4,000 years ago, he provided mankind with shelter. They were called caves. God’s plan was to allow any man to impregnate any woman he could club, and to have the baby born in a cave.
But then Satan came along, and lured mankind into towns and cities, and Satan tricked mankind into falsely thinking THEY had the right to make laws about rape and incest.
Thus mankind fell into mortal sin when they had the nerve to change God’s protection of the rapist.
As really, really devout Christians, it is our DUTY to restore America to God’s Law of the Caves.
Well there was at least ONE BOOK that Palin supported banning…nad this provided the context in which she had her rhetorical conversation with the librarian.
Emmons said the current Wasilla policy, which she described as written in more general terms than the borough’s, also worked procedurally in a book-challenge case last year. Emmons said then-council-woman Palin was distressed about the issue when it came up, indicating she was aware of the city’s book-challenge policy.
Emmons said in the conversations with now-Mayor Palin in October, she reminded her again that the city has a policy in place. “But it seamed (sic) clear to me that wasn’t really what she was talking about anyhow,” Emmons added. “I just hope it doesn’t come up again.”
Meanwhile, Emmons said she is working with borough libraries boss Bruce Urban and Palmer Library Director Janice Sanford, in the hope of getting the cities to adopt a book-challenge policy identical to the borough’s. The borough’s policy was revised mainly to replace the borough manager as the final decision maker with a formal Reconsideration Committee. Mat-Su Borough Manager Don Moore said Saturday that changes were made, with the (his?) blessings, after a dispute that was resolved about two years ago involving a challenged book at the Big Lake Library.”
So what were these books? What was Palin’s role when she was City Council member in the Wasilla case? Maybe ET or Celticdiva could hunt these items down, or speak with those locals in the know.
Like the so-called debate with Obama, Charlie should recuse himself or show the interview on Fox where it belongs.
Charlie, here’s a question for you. When are you going to put America first before your career and resign?
What’s the difference between Bush/Cheney and McCain/Palin?
Lipstick.
A book challenge policy generally isn’t the same as book banning. A book challenge policy can allow patrons to air grievances, on a form. Some of us might call it *cough* hiding behind beaurocracy. It’s a way to protect other people’s constutional rights to read a title, even while someone else is complaining. That’s probably while Sarah Palin was upset. Palin is “rhetorically” talking of summarily yanking “offensive” books from the shelves (like Chaucer). Emmons goes the professional route and explains the book challenge policy. If Sarah Palin is familiar with it and knows it doesn’t neccessarily lead to books getting yanked from the shelves, if ever, then she probably got unhappy with Emmons for giving the professional answer (standard library procedure) and not the answer she wanted.
Book challenge policy..
If the library has a formal procedure with hearings etc., then it should be documented. In which case, the library itself would be the source of information.
It probably involved a lot of tears, sweat and grief that the manager could have spent doing other things, like running the library. If the library isn’t prepared to defend a book, then a challenge may be successful. I am guessing this may have been the case?
Teh Wasilla Library.
They don’t have collection policy etc. as far as I can tell on the site.
Grey’s Papaya Juice Stand… BEST hot dogs in NYC!!!
Attaturk…. visiting very late in the game.
My question: HAVE YOU BEEN TO JESUS CAMP? (or were you one of the hospitality assistants?)
Love the lists. Well done. Oh, why couldn’t it be Rachel Maddow doing the interview.
