No lifting of the Cuba embargo for you, Gustav victims!
RABAT (Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said on Sunday that it would be unwise for Washington to lift an embargo against Cuba, despite its pleas following Hurricane Gustav.
Cuba spurned an offer from the U.S. to send hurricane victims $100,000 in aid through relief organizations and said on Saturday that the United States should instead sell it relief supplies and allow food sales on credit.
Rice said U.S. President George W. Bush had made clear that Washington would be "responsive" to the Cuban regime if it was prepared to free political prisoners and had a process for free and fair elections, among other reforms.
Because freeing political prisoners and scheduling free & fair elections is something the hurricane victims have complete control over, right Condi?
Will anyone ask McCain & Palin if they support letting hurricane victims die in Cuba because Cuban elections can't get scheduled in time and political prisoners won't get released?

Off to dream of a time when BushCo cannot cause more pain in the World …
G’nite all !
Thanks for the heads up on the story of Sarah Palin’s police chief and thevrape kit bill. We’re tying some stuff together up here, and can’t believe how fast this is spreading in the left blogosphere down below and how nobody here in Alaska even saw it coming. Me and Ms ET included. It is very important.
None of us can afford Lexis-Nexis, and the Frontiersman from 8 years ago is behind a wall.
blood pressure can’t take 4 more years of this, really.
Does this mean that your public library does not subscribe to Lexis-Nexis?
We need to help you in every way, ET!!!
The story of Knowles signing the bill to make that practice illegal is date May 22, 2000 and is available.
Frontiersman
Teddy!
EPU’d: Why is McCain attracted to people who hold rape victims in contempt, like RGJoe and Sarah Pitbull?
Thanks to P8triot1 for opening the Digg!! Now all you pups can Digg It!
Evening Teddy and pups how goes It this fine evening??
Oh and Condi Lice’s response to helping Cuba is SOOO Bushie it fucking hurts. When oh When will Impeachment start??? You know it is still not to late!!!
“Rice said U.S. President George W. Bush had made clear that Washington would be “responsive” to the Cuban regime if it was prepared to free political prisoners and had a process for free and fair elections, among other reforms.”
Smells like The Shock Doctrine to me…
Will these demands be followed by insistence on free market capitalism at its rawest, “privatization” of government-owned assets, massive layoffs of government employees…?
no shit margot.
as katymine has asked, what about the prisoners at gitmo? what is our government doing to protect those in our custody from the hurricane?
Again I ask this question…..
What did the US Military do to protest the inmates in GITMO?
Were they put in a safe place, will we every hear how much damage a CAT 4 Hurricane would do to Gitmo?
We are responsible for them ……. Have not heard one question about this anywhere…
Suzanne,
I’m worried like crazy. We need to help ET!
I emailed John at Americablog and he said that he was asking national reporters the question….. He thought it was a great question and thought it should be asked….
Will anyone ask McCain & Palin if they support letting hurricane victims die in Cuba because Cuban elections can’t get scheduled in time and political prisoners won’t get released?
No one in the U.S. press will. Perhaps we can put the BBC up to it?
Dugg it, nahant!
Teddy, Dude, that is so wrong.
Not only is this completely outdated and punishing Cuba policy wrong, it is beyond ignorant.
I am ashamed of the punishing diplomacy that is so out dated and unjustified forty five years out from reality.
Cuba is Ninety freaking miles from Florida and we are spending Billions in Iraq.
Someone needs a lesson in Socio Economics.
Duncan Hunter has the answer.
3 hots-n-a-cot.
What more can terra’ists expect?
Today Shannyn Moore was interviewed for over an hour today on Jeff Farias show on Phoenix KPHX radio…..It was great…… btw…. ET I still have people who would like to talk to you…..
Any news on Gitmo wrt Hurricane Impact and infinitely detained GWOT worst of the worst cab drivers detained there?
How about Helen Thomas? Does boosh still answer her questions?
…and as Barbara Bush would hasten to add, this is all really working out so well for them…
So, Cuba has to storm Gitmo and release our prisoners?
In a quick Google search I haven’t found anything.
ET had posted something Shannyn Moore has been posting about ……
OK– keep me informed.
And Tom Delay would add that Hurricanes are really quite a lot of fun.
I “heart” Helen…
I called Congressman Harry Michell’s office and they said they would get back to me….
Did he ever, really? Of course, the question was if someone would ask McCain that question, and so Helen Thomas probably wouldn’t be the one asking him questions yet.

ANCHORAGE, Sept. 8 — Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has billed taxpayers for 312 nights spent in her own home during her first 19 months in office, charging a “per diem” allowance intended to cover meals and incidental expenses while traveling on state business.
The governor also has charged the state for travel expenses to take her children on official out-of-town missions. And her husband, Todd, has billed the state for expenses and a daily allowance for trips he makes on official business for his wife.
Palin, who earns $125,000 a year, claimed and received $16,951 as her allowance, which officials say was permitted because her official “duty station” is Juneau, according to an analysis of her travel documents by The Washington Post.
The governor’s daughters and husband charged the state $43,490 to travel, and many of the trips were between their house in Wasilla and Juneau, the capital city 600 miles away, the documents show.
Oooh you had to say her name! Slowly I turned…step by step…
Evening Neuro how goes It this fine evening?? Can you believe what a twerp Sarah is? I mean how any one could want this package one heart beat away from the Football if just fucking crazy!!
Nothing in the .mil domain, either. Not too surprising, I suppose.

Obama opened his campaign office in Phoenix ….. wow….Obama campaign is going to challenge McBush in his home state

Libraries subscribe to L-N? Are electronic copies permitted?
How much crazier is it than Dim Son and The Haliburton Blaster?
oh she is much worse than a twerp, I fear. I think the classmates who knew her well had it right when they dubbed her Sarah Barracuda…
ET…if you can get in touch with the librarian perhaps she can recall what books Palin discussed with her “in the specific”. Or perhaps she recalls books that “disappeared” from or were defaced in the Wasilla library in the period of time the issue occurred. One tactic used by those who wish to censor materials when they are resisted is to deface or steal the materials they find objectionable.
Two more interesting points I’ve picked up tonight…
Palin’s gaffe in which she demonstrates complete ignorance of how Freddie Mac and Sally Mae operate…and suggests a “let them drown in the bathwater” solution to the problem. Of course, her solution would leave millions struggling to pay mortgages whose rates would escalate rapidly (notice that the rates went down at the mere mention of Federal involvement)…and the stock markets would plummet (they responded up nearly 300 points).
Her response to this crisis indicates an adherence to ideological extremism that McCain himself completely opposed in his remarks. Yet this is the person he selected as his running mate…and whose mere words will have serious consequences if they are elected???
The second thing I noticed was that top members of the Palin Administration (including her Lt. Governor sean Parnell) were sued for violating the Voting Rights Act when they denied Y’upik groups the right to have interpreters and Y’upik language materials in areas where non-English fluent speakers are in high numbers. Anothe Van Spassowsky effort to eliminate minority voters? Palin wasn’t named in the lawsuit, but it’s clear that this was done with her approval. So much for her whole “My husband and kids are Eskimo” appeal…she did nothing to shut down Parnells effort to disenfranchise elderly Y’upiks from being informed citizens and voting.
He is vulnerable but i gotta say I like that.
Haves some ballz.
ET- I just sent you an email. I tried to find that article via LN, but no dice. Never mind the part about 10 years… but same for 8 years.
I would like to see Obama stay in McSame’s face everywhere, all the time
he’s bound to crack
p.s. ET- email me back with whatever suggestions you have, and I will try to defeat the system! ;)
Robert Kennedy Jr asked for it today. (Impeachment Now)
One interesting possible side effect of McCheese hiding behind Palin’s skirt is that it blunts his personal attacks - good and bad. His personal attack dog gets her hunting fix relieved.
But he has to be building it up, and he may blow.
So there are 100,000 houses damaged or destroyed by Hurricane Gustav and Cuba spurned an offer for $100,000 in aid through releif agencies. What a bunch of ingrates! That $1/home would go a long way… damn commies!
Sorry, the US will only accept cash for relief supplies or food. Short of cash? Sorry, you die.
When Bam, Iran experienced their massive earthquake in 2003, the US Government’s response was:
Total USAID/OFDA Earthquake Assistance to Iran $3,702,645
Total USG Earthquake Assistance to Iran $5,714,930
So I guess we know who we hate more.
