The red-meat offered up by the lipstick-wearing pit bull from Alaska to the "base" of the republican party (aka "aged cottage cheese") included an interesting and thinly-veiled pitch toward the culture wars that the republicans are seeking to ignite over the next 60 days. Her Assembly-of-God Creationism and no-holds barred attitude is her ticket to assume the center-ring ringmistress position in the culture war circus of this years elections.
Republicans who can’t quite bring themselves to voice "10-Commandments" Westmorland’s overt racism are absolutely loving the anti-science, and overtly racist dogwhistles coming from Pitt-Bull Palin’s lip-glossed gob. Indeed, if the tales of the lady of the land of the midnight sun are even half-way true, I’d bet that the sudden, and unfortunate demise of ex-POW McCain from old age and his injuries and cancers, and her ascension to the Oval Office would be followed by two seminal events: The suspension of the Civil Rights Act followed by the suspension of the Bill of Rights. If there is any truth to the story about her referring to Barack Obama as "Sambo", she is no more fit for a federal public office (or any other office) than the Grand Kleegle of the KKK.
Her tax policies are a mixture of opportunism and a fawning sop to big business and special interests who fuel her campaigns and political aspirations. Why else would the metropolis of Wasilla need a multi-million dollar sports complex built on land that is still in litigation to determine ownership except to fill the coffers of builders and land owners in Wasilla and Anchorage? Palin is just another "Credit Card Conservative" whose idea of cutting taxes involves borrowing to hide the burden of government spending shifted into overdrive, while decrying both the evils of revenue generation (taxes) and government spending (earmarks/pet projects/PORK). Gee, does this sound familiar?
As Wasilla mayor, Palin has a decidedly mixed record on taxes and spending. She slashed her salary and cut property taxes by 40 percent because of booming sales tax revenue from new stores.
But Palin also increased the budget by spending on roads and sewers, left the town nearly $20 million in debt and raised the city sales tax by half a percent (she said the money was needed to support construction of an indoor ice rink and sports complex and a police dispatch center).
Wow! She took over her city with which had virtually no debt on her inaugural day and left it over $20 million dollars in debt! Now who does that sound like? I can’t quite recall… perhaps you can help me out here.
Palin is a formidable adversary who plays for keeps. Her selection is a complete cave to the forces of Dobson and Norquist; and her inexperience is going to be sold as a mark of her "outsider" status to appeal to the slack-jawed morons who want to both have a beer with her and get into her pants. It would be a mistake of epic proportions to underestimate her for a nanosecond or to write her off as a classic doctrinaire wingnut.
Her seclusion for two weeks (to ostensibly say bye-bye to the son headed for Mess O’Potamia) and learn all the talking points by heart will prevent anyone except select media (and I mean very select media) from asking her any questions or probing into her personality and getting to know her. Our loss will be the McCain campaign’s hoped-for gain, I guess. The Less the American People know, the More they’ll like her? An unlikely, but very Rovian strategy.
A woman who never met an investigator she did not want to stonewall, a bridge she didn’t want to not build, oil company profits she didn’t want to socialize (but heaven forbid she use that word), an ebay sale she didn’t make, an epithet she never tossed out there… in short a woman made to sail into Flyover Country… and take a dump on them enroute. Now that’s a small town value!

Why haven’t we seen darkblack’s photoshop of this pitbull with lipstick? Or did I just miss it?
Like this?
Or this?
They may be too hot for the lake, but darkblack is going strong!
Oh my!
I don’t underestimate her at all. I have a friend who was all for Obama, but now wants to hear the debates to decide.
McPalin isn’t fit to be a dog catcher let alone anything else.
Watching Biden on Press The Meet this morning only confirms the dog and pony show that is McPalin should be run out of town. It was a thing of beauty to watch Biden school the so called moderator about what’s going on in Iraq. I’ll bet a million dollars there will be NO foreign policy questions at the VP debate.
Had already seen the first picture but the second one may make me decide not to have dinner.
Temper, temper.
Her interview is now set with Charles Gibson later this week; Im sure we have not forgotten how he handled the debate.
Great job on the title, Jo!
Any word on when National Enquirer will come out with more?
ive got McDipshitt figured out,by his own sons words

P.O.W. to Power Broker: A Chapter Most Telling:
“I think he sensed that life held something bigger for him, but he didn’t know what it was yet,” said Doug McCain, his eldest son. The younger Mr. McCain remembers once going with his parents to France and visiting Napoleon’s tomb — Napoleon had been a childhood hero of John McCain — and sensing that his father was searching for any lessons history might hold about how he himself might best serve his country.”
Here is a linky to

Napoleon? Wow. Explains a lot.
A little more background seeps out wrt her views on the place of religion in politics:
Clue: pray for the pipeline
http://www.adn.com/sarah-palin/story/518522.html
I think, at 5′7″ McCain is a couple of 3 inches taller that Napoleon. Still, at 121 pounds in Annapolis, he was a bulldog wrestler in his category.
I know I read somewhere that Palin was one of Gingrich’s PAC recruits….. the equivalent of our Emily’s List …..that this PAC has been “growing” Palin for this very position….. Anyone know about this, I can’t find the link?
Never heard it and don’t have link, but I wouldn’t be a bit surprised.
rest assured gibby will not anger repugs by asking “tough” questions….. just will apply more lipstick to the pitbull…. jus sayin ;o)
Wow! Credit Card Conservative
Impressive. Excellent post, Jo Fish. Quite a cogent distillation of exactly who she is and where she’s coming from. Hope McCaint has a food taster.
To be sure. Corp media all whores.
How’re u, Juslin? I have been spending much time in country, but will try to figure out a time for NYC meetup sometime soon.
Separation of Church and State? Lordy. I hope the National Inquirer is on to some good stuff, and that they hold it until closer to the election. What about the AIP secede from the union ties? Anything new on that front?
Jon Stewart, in his Gingrich interview, said that Newt had mentioned Palin to him earlier, maybe in March. Newty agreed and just looked so pleased with himself, as he is wont to do.
I found these two posts ….. will keep looking
Gingrich plugs Palin for VP twice (April 08)
and from his website he throws her name out again in April…
Newt site
Now I get it….. it is the Drill Now Drill here crap website….. OF Course….

Citizen Jo Fish and the Firepup Freedom Fighters:
Thanks for the post, Sarah Palin’s catapulting into the VP slot is a massive diversion of attention from John McCrazy and his policies while at the same time rallyin’ the base of the fascist party. The continuation of the “big lie” tactic and the ignition of “culture war” to replace issue debate is the last gasp effort of the oligarchy to keep national polls in this election close enough for a couple of key states to be stolen on election day.
What is most important about Palin and her candidacy is the opportunity for national media to expose what a total corporate owned state looks like and how the unholy alliance between the oil oligarchy and the religious anarchists mirrors the alliance of the German oligarchy of blood and iron with the lunatic fringe of Adolph Hitler.
Make no mistake about it, we have a full fledged fascist government and every institution of constitutional government has been corrupted. This election campaign is lookin’ more and more like 1932-33 Wiemar Germany and the last pre-war election of that German federation. The police state terror tactics of Sarah Palin in Alaska should become boilerplate background pictures for Obama campaign commercials. Book burnin, firing public officials for not carryin out personal wishes of the governor, usin’ public dollars ta pay for earmarks to line the pockets of private individuals and political supporters, all in the name of lunatic religious values… this the new hybrid American fascism and it’s the real thing!!
There is no doubt in my mind that the corporate oligarchy has no intention of givin up power in the face of results of a mundane election…the experience of people on the streets of St Paul this last week should inform us all what’s gunna be required if we wanna take our country back.
KEEP THE FAITH AND PASS THE AMMUNITION…FASCISM DOESN’T GIVE POWER AWAY, YOU HAVE TO TAKE IT!!
I wrote this at the very end of a previous post. I was at Demo. meeting today for a local candidate. A gentleman there said he had attended a conservative congregation this am; Voter registration cards were distributed. Then, they were to be gathered/collected in the collection plate. Can this be real? Well, yes.
Have to admit I wasn’t quite prepared for that imagery. Kind of like driving along and suddenly hitting a giant pothole. Somebody please fetch me the jaws of life.
I’m sure Charlie Gibson will ask strong>tough and hard-hitting questions. If she mentions eliminating the death tax, reducing capital gains taxes, and lowering income taxes on the rich, expect him to roll over on the floor to get his tummy skritched. He’s all about his own tax burden, as he showed in the debates this year. She’ll get him on her side early, and it’ll be all softballs thenceforth.
I can’t wait.
Well I’m sure that she will comfort Charlie that she won’t be dinging his capital gains or taxing anyone below $5 million dollars. That, after all, is still Middle Class.
i’m ok here – hope you are as well… we can always return to the country – its such a lovely setting – hint hint lol…
Interesting to see how Arab News reports on Palin.
Palin and her pro-Zionist politics
Snip
Soo perfect. And remember how much he did not like being booed. I think he said the Natives are restless….nice.
Gibson: What selfless act of self restarint has stopped you from firing the professors at the University of Alaska, who I imagine earn $200,000 per year, who support your Godless opponents?
Palin: …
Gibson: Gov. Palin, what is it about Barack Hossein Obama that you think most
irritates ordinary Americans such as yourself?
Palin: ….
Gibson: V.P.-To-Be Palin, why do you think that the Democrat Party hates America?
Palin: …
The Conservative Palinguage Guide Vols. 1 and 2
AND a whole lot more of them over there….. pass them on…
Citizen Teddy Partridge:
Does ANYone take Charley Gibson seriously anymore…if there isn’t a firestorm of protest from the corporate media for keepin’ Palin outta the lights then they’ve jest made themselves invisible and irrelevant.
Well, that’s not at all beyond the possible. Garage reroofed this week, but maybe when that’s done…
Didn’t Gibson say something to the effect that setting the Capital Gains Tax at $250,000 would pose a hardship for typical middle-income families?
Interesting and revealing article in, of all places, the WSJ, about the Palin and the Wasilla Sports Complex-
Palin’s Hockey Rink Leads To Legal Trouble in Town She Led
Sarah Armadillah
Someone should do a photoshop of it!
Or put her in a Burkah with her saying, “I guess you’ll only keep me in this until I can tell you the difference between the caucuses and the Caucusus, right?”
That’s an excellent article. Typical of WSJ before it became a shadow of its former self when Murdoch bought it.
That can’t be legal! Churches are not taxed because they don’t take sides in elections. (I know they do, but it’s time for Churches either to be taxed across the board, or heavily, behaiviorally change-type fined when they do this.)
Very nice cinnamonape. Never saw pic of armadillo in full retreat, and caucases/Caucasus is a fine homonym to remember.
LMBAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yes those are the questions!!!
Firepup Freedom Fighters:
Has there been a comcheck or a frontline report from the new “Battle for Alaska” from Citizen Edward Teller?
Gibson: What selfless act of self restarint has stopped you from firing the professors at the University of Alaska, who I imagine earn $200,000 per year, who support your Godless opponents?
Noted above, the man at the Demo candidate meeting also said that the Young Republicans are putting folks/students in classrooms to monitor/report any political/advocacy positions in the UT classrooms. Where are we headed?
Was there coverage that Palin has gone after the Profs?
TPM links to WSJ story on how Wasilla bungled land deal for rec center while Palin was governor. Wasilla finalized the land deal price and then not sign the papers. Starting construction on land the city did not own was one cause of Wasills’s increase in debt.
What with e-bay sales of government property that didn’t actually happen, delegation of state national guard activities to the state commander, and not being able to handle a simple land purchase, I don’t think Palin’s executive experience will look too good under examination.
That is in addition to lying about the Bridge to Nowhere, and serial abuse of executive authority.
These are reasons that the McCain campaign insists on ‘deference’ towards their VP candidate -her credibility would collapse under a fair vetting.
Ooops!
http://talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/214317.php
The only catch was that the city began building roads and installing utilities for the project before it had unchallenged title to the land. The misstep led to years of litigation and at least $1.3 million in extra costs for a small municipality with a small budget. What was to be Ms. Palin’s legacy has turned into a financial mess that continues to plague Wasilla.
Details. Details. IOKIYAR.
We’re already getting one legacy of financial mess. Another one just won’t do.
Actually I believe helping folks to register to vote is within the acceptable actions for a church.
They can advocate that people vote, just not advocate for them to vote for a specific candidate.
Here is another good one….
State paid for trip when Palin told students to pray for pipeline
And of course
I haven’t seen anything formal, but he did comment that he lives in Wasilla!!
How was the march with your family. Everyone okay?
New post up just in case you are interested.
And James Inhofe says, “Do you really want to have a guy as commander in chief of this country when you can question whether or not he really loves his country?” From the Tulsa World
well the plane that was sold at a loss…… to an “acquaintance” or repug hack … whatevahhhh………
I believe David Horowitz pushes this and is how he came up with his “100 most dangerous professors” BS. It may be time for the professors at UT and other schools to preemptively tape all their lectures and dealings with the R students for their own protection.
Just an FYI driveby because I HAVE to go offline:
If anyone here is on FaceBook and are friends with Randy Koehn (aka Noonan here at FDL) please go give him some love and support. His parents were in a car wreck, yesterday. Dad made it. Mom didn’t. When my son was killed the same way, the number of people who came to provide support made a huge difference.
The collapse of the GOP as a serious and responsible political faction capable of governing is frightening. I disagreed with Reagan on 75% of what he did (thought he did on big thing -talking with the Soviets right). I thought Bush Sr. was little more than a white collar criminal, but at least he was a competent one. I worked hard to defeat Bobdole -but I was not scared of the guy.
So, who would have thunk that the GOP could descend to lower levels than Cheney and Bush -yet, they can! Frightening. A guy like Hagel cannot even get into the primaries -only warmongering hotheads, conmen and goofs need apply. And note that moderate GOPers got pissed on again with VP choice -which was an open pander to the extreme Christianist movement. If they wanted Hillary vote, why not go with Snowe? (Cause she is qualified but not crazy).
When I get nervous I look at the electoral vote count, especially ’solid’ state electoral vote counts. Like others, am nervous about the Obama campaign’s spork weilding. Biden let loose the other day, but today he is Mr. genteel again. But looks like they are doing something right. Solid (5% or more lead) states for Obama continues to climb steadily, at highest level now, and is now just below 270. McCain’s solid support is drifting back down to lowest levels.

Hi y’all… sorry I was late to my own party, dinner guests and all… hard to type when the wife is glaring at you reading the PDA at the table.
Teddy, thanks for the kind words, coined that term years ago on DemVet along with some others that stuck… pretty much sums up their economic policy in one phrase I think.
I don’t have facebook, but my condolences to Noonan. Hope people who do give his page a visit.
Ratfood, sorry for the imagery. A gallon of brain bleach on me… LOL!
This is one of the biggest problems we face: under “normal” circumstances, we could count on the press to do the job expected of it in a democracy — ask questions to reveal the character of the candidates and thereby help voters decide whom to vote for.
Under our crazed, near-Nazi situation, the press serves only to glorify the “one” party and “one” candidate. Voters, even those paying minimal attention, have no place to gain information, unless they become political junkies like those of us who frequent the Lake.
It’s really scary.
Loo Hoo #3: anything more you can tell us on what, exactly, it is that caused your friend to go from Obama to “I’ll wait until the debates”? Such info might be useful to Obama’s folks as well.
Thanks wesgpc. I’m staying on for a few more minutes. For those who don’t know him, Noonan was also a Blue America candidate for State office in Wisconsin. He’s a great guy.
I hope you are right, and I have understood that distinction. Bringing that sort of action right into the worship time seems alittle extreme. But I get your point. Thanks
This is one thing that has scared me for quite some time. Even during the darkest days of Watergate, we had a) a judiciary that took the role of law seriously; b) individuals within the Administration, particularly the Justice Department, who would not obey illegal orders designed to protect the criminals; c) a Congress willing to perform its duty to investigate suspected criminal activity and cover-up; and d) a press energized into digging out the truth.
I’ve always counted on the courts and the media as our last, best hope against impending Fascism [and the yahoos who cheer it on]. It is terrifying to realize we no longer have those protections. We’re on our own.
Thanks but I’m okay, also have a new sunroof in my imaginary car, so I’ve got THAT going for me.
What makes everyone think Lady Macbeth is going to wait around for McCain to die of natural causes?
I can see it now.
She comes running out of the Oval Office saying:
“I don’t know what happened. He just stopped breathing. Quick, call the Secret Service and swear me in. And get that body out of there, it’s messing up the rug.”
I continue to wonder how Mr. & Ms. Stockbroker/Small Business Owner/general reader of the WSJ can relate to Ms. Mooseburger — AND her Looney Tunes supporters.
I wouldn’t think they’d want to put the future of the Dow Jones and their 401(k) in the hands of these folks.
Well, after the bail-out of Bear-Sterns, and the impending ones of Fannie & Freddie, I guess this appeared to be just “small potatoes.”
A credit card conservative.
I love the term. Let’s make it stick.
Borrow and squander credit card conservatives who must hate this country because the don’t want to pay taxes during a time of war.
I haven’t spoken with her in depth. I will on Thursday. She asked me about my reaction, and I said, “The Bitch!” She really made me mad with the disrespectful mocking. That the audience cheered speaks volumes, doesn’t it?
My friend said that she knew that would be my reaction, but didn’t go into details. Her sisters are all die-hard republicans. I gave her an Obama sign to put in her yard which she did, so no idea.
That does make sense dakine. They preach about it all hour, then say nothing about whom to vote for as they pass out the voter registration cards?
Remember that Charlie is the guy that thought that most married College Professors at St. Anselm (and apparently elsewhere) made over $200,000 a year. When he said that guffaws rang through the crowd.
The guy is utterly out of touch.
Gibson derided for saying that average professors make $100K each
What’s absolutely stunning is that 90% of those commenting in the responses see absolutely nothing wrong with what Palin did!
Charlie Gibson is hopeless. He’ll do a pull celeb interview and nothing more. With his smarmy smile.
yech!
Not saying they don’t bend if not break the law.
But I think a lot of minority congregations do a lot of voter registration too.
Although I’d wager they are quite a bit more circumspect and stay well within the law when they do so.
Norske my friend, Gibson is the ONLY one getting Palin. Regardless of his history, he’s the only show in town. He’s gonna get great ratings and he’s going to be taken seriously.
Why on earth should anyone see a borror-and-spend conservative as fiscally superior to a tax-and-spend liberal? In fact, every financially responsible American knows that living on borrowed money is less responsbile than living on earned money and that eventually you get to a point where you can no longer borrow to make your next mortgage payment. And, the United States of America is getting precariously close to the edge.
This blog has tons of crazy documents on Palin… http://liz-seattlespeak.blogspot.com
Like 50 thousand dollars spent on CARPET during renovations on the governor’s mansion
http://www.gov.state.ak.us/omb…..j45391.pdf
also Jesus General gave a helmet tip to her today for a document FROM palin that outlines this policy
“Faced with the prospect of so many Alaska Guardsmen and soldiers returning home after suffering traumatic brain injuries (TBI), Gov. Sarah Palin reached deep into Alaska’s coffers to allocate one hundred dollars to teach health care professionals how to recognize TBI cases.”
http://www.gov.state.ak.us/omb…..Letter.pdf
There is a post now with an mp3 of a call with her or some sort of recording with here where she talks about her “disappointment” in reclassifying polar bears as endangered. There is also a letter talking about her opposition to classifying beluga whales as endangered!
It’s a goldmine over here!
http://liz-seattlespeak.blogspot.com
So, Will the Poodle with lipstick ignite a call to pray for more rain on Democrats or an earthquake in the liberal dark territories of California, that slithers its evilness slowly toward the north inching closer to the pure conservative, fundamental, christian, sepretists of the 49 state?
You just knew it was coming, didn’t you? This morning I saw a McCain/Palin bumper sticker reading: “Vote for the Hot Chick”. If she had larger breasts Obama/Biden would be eliminated in a landslide.
Obama should probably change his ad to: “They know you are stupid.” It’s enough to make one physically ill.
