Manu Chao & Linton Kwesi Johnson- Politik Kills
What’s on your mind tonight?
Aloha, ES!
kewl video, es – thanks
Hi ES! HI CT!!
AND SUZ!!!
Happy Anniversary! ;-)
hey laura d, caps lock stuck?
Evening all.
Eureka! Very cool vid
Hi Laura!
H
Hi Newton. As a matter of fact, Suzanne, I’m using a very old and uncooperative keyboard after one of the (ahem) cats poured an iced coffee over the last one….
(and thanks, CT, for the anniversary wishes). (and the comments re: post.)
ha – i’m usually the cat spilling coffee on the keyboard
happy anniversary laura d
Thanks, Suz. 24 years legal; 26 real. It went by in a heart beat.
(((((ES)))))
My Dirty Harry comment was EPU so I hope its OK to bring it upstairs.
“Oh no, no, no – no Dirty Harry – he is ancient, cranky and oh so much worse than DiFi and at the risk of offending his legion of fandom outside our Golden State, Clint has not grown old gracefully and as bat shit vindictive Conservative (to his core)as they come. Just ask Sandra Locke or a host of others, including Arnold, who recently fired him (with cause) from the State Parks Commission.”
Worth repeating, NPB.
Happy anniversary Laura!
: )
Detroit wants cheap loans from the government to make hybrid cars here are two links.
I am all for this but I have conditions.
1) no more outsourcing jobs no more shutting down plants in America this is a deal breaker.
2) I want their business plan on the net hey its my tax dollars. I want to know what are you spending the money on it better be hybrid cars, I don’t want to hear GM just bought a new corporate jet.
I want to know how many hybrid car models you plan to make and when can I see them at dealerships.
I want to know if the new cars are mild hybrid (engine goes off when car is stopped to save gas), Hybrid gas/electric power to the wheels, plug in hybrid and Chevy Volt all electric power to the wheels engine charges the battery. I want to know the percentage of hybrid cars being made. I don’t want to hear detroit has stopped making hybrids because the price of gas dropped WE ARE NOT GOING TO GET FOOLED BY A SUCKER PLAY! This is a deal breaker I don’t loan nobody money without some assurance that they can pay me back.
3) No Dividends
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dividend
Detroit can bite me if they think they are going to use my cash to give their stockholders cash. Again a dealbreaker.

What’s on my mind? — Sarah Fatigue!!!
ET!
Please tell us the initial reactions were correct, and this candidate will be gone from the scene soon…
And I had twenty nine Sarah questions on a neat little list awaiting your arrival tonight. /s
hehehehhe hey npb – was looking forward to hearing your take on clint
This blog has tons of crazy documents on Palin… http://liz-seattlespeak.blogspot.com
Like 50 thousand dollars spent on CARPET during renovations on the governor’s mansion
http://www.gov.state.ak.us/omb…..j45391.pdf
also Jesus General gave a helmet tip to her today for a document FROM palin that outlines this policy
“Faced with the prospect of so many Alaska Guardsmen and soldiers returning home after suffering traumatic brain injuries (TBI), Gov. Sarah Palin reached deep into Alaska’s coffers to allocate one hundred dollars to teach health care professionals how to recognize TBI cases.”
http://www.gov.state.ak.us/omb…..Letter.pdf
There is a post now with an mp3 of a call with her or some sort of recording with here where she talks about her “disappointment” in reclassifying polar bears as endangered. There is also a letter talking about her opposition to classifying beluga whales as endangered!
It’s a goldmine over here!
http://liz-seattlespeak.blogspot.com
Girl geek squad reports 62,000,000 site visits for FDL – congratulations!
Only 29, ES? ;-)
i hear that sarah fatigue et.
how’s the weather and your garden?
Non dealbreakers but things I would like for example no cash for Chrysler http://www.daimler.com/dccom/0…..0-0-0.html
Why well Cerberus Capital ia a hedge fund that owns 80% of Chrysler and they gave Dan Quayle a wingnut welfare job. Sorry but any company that hires Dan Quayle is a bad investment in my book.
I realize that I maybe outvoted on this one because of all the people who will lose their jobs thats the only reason its not a deal breaker.
Cerberus Capital Management, L.P. is one of the largest private equity investment firms in the USA. The firm is based in New York City, and run by 48-year-old financier Steve Feinberg. Former U.S. Vice President Dan Quayle has been a prominent Cerberus spokesperson and runs one of its international units.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C…..Management
*sigh* M&C has only racked up 500,000…!
The motherload!
Thanks, and welcome Bryan!
woot!
Total Total since the beginning?
hey bryan, welcome to late late nite. i’ve not seen your name before (but i’m old and my memory aint what it used to be so if i’m thinking you are new, please accept my apology in advance).
if ya have any questions, please feel free to ask.
eg, am i correct in thinking that is individual visits and the sitemeter does not count page refreshes as a new visit.
62 million individual visits to the lake. big smile
Weren’t you the former Jax QB…? ;-)
Thank You egregious – best news of da day! Woo Hoo!
Am oh so happy you returned home safely from M/St.Paul and learning you enjoyed such good company on your return flight.
Hail, muse ES — and a hearty Yo yo yo to all ye Greats of Late Late. What’s on my mind is, oh I dunno, maybe just that little teensy-weensy detail that Sarah Lenscrafters Model is evidently a frickin’ Jesus-Camper and nobody seems to be jumping on the story. W-Tee-F!
Yep. And they call teh DFH’s ‘dangerous radicals.”
suzanne — I’m afraid she’s all of ours until her Secretary of State Tim La Haye and Secretary of Defense Erik Prince bring us to the next stage of the road to the second coming….
ES – ask away….
Spent 90 minutes on the phone with Eric Boehlert from MMFA this morning. He’s writing a book on blogging and the 2008 elections. Great talk!!!
ewwww, that nightmare is gonna have me wondering if i need a passport to “drive through canada on my way to alaska” or if my taking a walk across an imaginary line is the better route…
Oh I don’t know.. everywhere I turn folks are talking about it.
Just reading how McPalin do not handle themselves well at all in public amazes me. Add that fundie stuff and I am just bewildered.
easier to be a big fish in a small group
much harder to maintain that illusion when swimming with the big dogs
Next Non deal breaker It sure would be nice if the Dems had a spine and demanded the current CEOs and the board of directors of Ford and GM be fired and replaced by Al Gore, Ed Bagley Jr, Ralph Nader and Warren Buffet.
Al and Ed I trust to make hybrid cars, Ralph I trust to make safe cars, Warren a Dem I trust to make things profitable now we just need an automotive engineer to actually make the cars.
If Ford ad GM were to divide up the market and agree to a certain amount of market share they could save money by not competing against each other.
One could make a full sized truck the other could make passenger cars etc.
Also if they used the same car parts so you could interchange them that would save the cost of manufacture.
Third lets ban all foreign cars that don’t get 40 MPG that should make Detroit and the Greens real happy!
Again not deal breakers buy good ideas,… I think
Wow, Hmmm, that’s a great link. Putting the youtube up right now, with long excerpts. It is scary how much work there is to do, isn’t it.
Yeah, but I mean like a REAL Jesus-Camper, as in literal army of youth currently in training to literally rise up and taking the Earth for God.
Good point if only we could get the film “Jesus Camp” on HBO before the election, I’m sure Sarah would freak.
I placed a snark (/s) tag next to that comment to let you know I was joking.
Suz, I made sure I had my passport when I crossed the Canadian border about four years back.. and they sure wanted to see it, coming and going.
Actually I’m thinking just getting that info out to MSM would turn the GOP ticket radioactive overnight. Folks will not accept this no matter how perky that Mean Girl may be.
A God of Peace and Love with such violent followers it does make you wonder.
Unfortunately, the FCM are all in the bag for McPalin. They have been smacked down by the GOPers over their questioning Palin’s background and about all the crap they have already turned up and now they are meekly waiting for permission from on high to even talk to the silly broad about anything at all. Non-issue, likely, unless the Dems or the netroots or both get together and start screaming it from the rooftops
sigh…. i’m gonna have to get one and remember that howie travel blog tip about it accidentally meeting a hammer
Kind of like that armored personnel carrier with the .50 caliber machine gun called the “Peacemaker”…
I want an all electric long bed toyota sized truck (not the big Tundra model) capable of hauling a rick of wood. At least one which gets over forty mpg for now. (over 55 mpg very soon)
Could be. We are about to find out how close that 29% is to accurate.
here’s the tip
Oh I remember now. Good advice.
I thought The Media was all mad at McPalin because they decided the snub them, and were gonna go after her as a result…? Or is that old information at this pooint?
Another deal breaker no more bonuses, stock awards or other rewards and perks like corporate jets etc. The years of bonus for the bosses as market share and or profits are down are over.
If Detroit don’t like it they can turn to the free market for a loan which with their credit rating, a direct result of their decades of ignoring what consumers wanted they will pay more than the market rate for much, much more.
Detroit needs us we are the only game in town that might give them cheap loan.
And actually I would prefer some preferred stock like the deal the Feds are giving Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
A veritable media flip-flop…?
Ah Irony I get it.
we are going to need a lot of help. a lot of help.
What model is it hybrid?
Time will tell. (Aloha, CT. Halemaumau hoppin’ I see.)
Is a ‘rick’ southern for a ‘cord’ of wood, ES? ;-)
The lava lake is swelling up!
Also just when does Ford and GM plan to pay us back and what are the penalties of nonpayment?
There had better be some penalties like 5% of the company every year that they are late paying us that and some board of directors seats. Again its a deal breaker.
Our Prius averages just over 40 — would the lite truck body weigh more (lower MPG) or less (higher MPG)?
No. I was asking for something I assume is not yet manufactured. Thinking about some of your prerequisites for loaning the likes of GM some tax dollars.
A rick is roughly half a cord.
Pistoning up and down, 100 meters below the crater pit floor. This very minute. Give me & The Sweetie goosebumps. Kilauea caldera was indeed a lake of molten lava for over a hundred years. Might happen again!
I small truck shouldn’t weigh much more. (with no cargo in back)
Rachel’s new show debuts Monday – dare I hope she’ll have seen this video between now and then?
Then MPG-wise I would expect something in the 40’s until/unless a major new generation of the Hybrid Synergy Drive™ (insert Scotty joke here) happens.
Thanx, I hadn’t heard it before! I do know a cord and it’s dimensions of 4′X 4′X 6′, as I’ve had to split a few cords for heat during the winter…
Bush seems to have overruled those commanders on the ground he claims he was listening to when he announced the Surge.
It seems the only way to sustain the Surge is with longer deployments which is a winner with the troops or a Draft which would be a winning election issue for us, if only we could get some straight talk out of McCain on this issue.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/…..26_pf.html
(NPR’s “On The Media” is on here at the moment, and is very very good on McPalin v. Media.)
The stock market will sky tomorrow on the taxpayer bailout of Fannie and Freddie. All thise holding that CDO paper secured by sub prime are celebrating as we bail them out. Corporate welfare is alive and well. 3.4% increase on the Japanese market already. How much of $5 Trillion is sub prime I don’t know.
Bushco is taking everything they can steal thanks to Nancy Pelosi “Green Light” no impeachment.
Hide and watch there will be more coming. Blue Dogs have sold the country.
Well, you would assume that to be the case – however, they just cower and then agree to the ‘terms’. Now that they are back on good behavior – McPalin has deigned to give Charlie Gibson an exclusive interview. Yech.
Thats cool and doable I want more than the Chevy Volt to choose from if I decide to buy an American hybrid car.
Ooh, Kewl! Pt. 3 is up for our perusal, eh? ;-)
Charlie Gibson. Yeh, that’ll be hard-hitting alright.
And of course, Charlie will be given an approved list of questions which Palin has memorized her snarky answers to.
answers that are, of course, quotes from her rnc speech. nothing new for sure – except playing the victim card.
Carbon fiber body also
http://seekingalpha.com/articl…..ster-truck
Now that would be REAL engineering. A mid-size hybrid truck!!
After spending the weekend getting in wood for winter…how about a hybrid chainsaw?
My father and his brothers all went to Henry Ford’s vocational school in Detroit after being kicked out of the Catholic orphanage at the mandatory age of 14 [ during the Depression]. His brothers stayed on to become tool and dye makers. They hated it but, hell, it was a guaranteed pension. Almost.
Got fucked over 3 years before retirement during a buyout. No pension. No severance.
Thank goodness Dad chose to turn his back on all that security and become a writer.
I’m sorry part 3?
Hmmm – put the YouTube up at my place…
thanks!
Cool. I hope carbon fiber is a whole lot less expensive than it used to be.
Yeah. I don’t get the ‘victim’ of sexism or anything else. She’s the one who called herself a pitbull with lipstick. Same for the family. She’s the one parading around her special needs kid like a sack of potatoes and parading around her pregnant unwed 17-year-old and her boyfriend and at the same time complaining because the media have talked about them. Talk about hypocrisy…
No thanks necessary, since I live to serve.
Of Woodward’s series on the “War Within”…!
The Porcelain Pitbull.
Diesel/hybrid is right now the best bet to handle heavy loads. Unless there is some new tech ready I haven’t heard about?
Actually, Toyota just completed a new plant in Texas devoted to building hybrid Tundras (their big truck). It is the same hybrid configuration as the Prius and Camry – only bigger. I also heard somewhere they expect to have the Prius/Camry engine up to 100 mpg by next year.
Still very expensive but if we gear up the carbon fiber factories for mass production with government loans for more fuel efficient cars we could cut costs by achieving economies of scale.
How much savings I don’t know.
Also, there is a conversion kit already on the market that can turn the Prius/Camry into an all-electric. It costs about $1300, and apparently if you are a little bit capable with wiring – can be done at home.
Speaking of Toyota’s larger vehicles, they also have had a hybrid version of their SUV for a while — though boy does that seem like one hell of an oxymoron to me.
Sorry I need some cafine
Actually, they’re calling it PT. 2, I guess they’re not counting Thursday’s column about Shrub spying on Maliki…
I buy that, economy of scale. What about crash performance of carbon fiber? I really really like safe. Prius uses a lot of body plastic but does very well on crash safety. Hope they can keep that up with CF body elements.
Of course, we all need to be focused on the fact that we need infrastructure first! Rebuilding the electrical grid FIRST in order to get the power where it needs to be – and the new grid will be much more efficient (save save save!)
I envision parking lots with plug-in meters – insert credit/debit card and charge up while you are taking care of business. These things should be in front of motels, restaurants, and all kinds of places where people have to travel distances to get to.
While we are putting in all these new transmission lines – let’s underground most of them while we’re at it – clean up the skyline – and stop a lot of problems with downed lines causing power outages.
I thought that preferred stock holders were the only ones getting the bailout?
Fannie and Freddie both can lose lots more money if the housing market stays bad I do not think we can afford to bailout all the stockholders.
Yes, and wasn’t that interesting? Spying on Mailki, and also crediting some mysterious new surveillance technologies for targeting key insurgents — also in Iraq. Bit of a theme, wouldn’t you say? What the hell have they built over there? And is it also deployed over here?
No more so than the Ford/Chevy versions that call themselves hybrids but the electric portion only provides MORE POWER and doesn’t reduce the amount of gasoline per mile!
Tell GM, no cash unless they have one ready and able to do it (a truck over 40 mpg).. and I bet they pull out an old blueprint lickity split.
After all they killed their electric car. Which reminds me of a question I have been wondering about. I know the electric car didn’t have a transmission.. So would an electric motorized vehicle like that be capable of handling heavier loads, such as a load of firewood or pulling boat on a trailer?
No, but I think you’d agree that ain’t much of a plus.
Very good question and one thats beyound my abilities I don’t know how CF reacts compared to steel in a crash, under heat like the gas tank explodes, or if CF gets metal fatigue.
I do know the Honda Impact the first hybrid car had a Carbon Fiber frame.
Yeah, and that’s the part that pissed me off the most about this bailout. When they first started making noise about the take-over a week or so ago – all the market speculators started buying up all the preferred stock at the bargain basement prices because of the bail-out rumors. Now, they have all this ‘restructured’ debt instruments that are guaranteed by the full faith and credit of the US Government.
Somebody said with this transaction that our currency is now backed by home mortgages, one-third of which are in default, another third are late, and the rest, well, we shall see.
The Hybrid Synergy Drive™ uses a true-genius design to combine the power outputs of the gas engine & electric motor, which has some characteristics of a traditional transmission, but no stepped gears per se. I’m sure it’s covered in wikipedia somewhere… I think it’s called “solar gear” or something…
Thinking of her upcoming sessions with Lieberman and AIPAC, I’m trying to think of a new “Like Putting Lipstick on a ____” line.
Is there a Yiddish word for a Christian woman who uses Jews for her own advancement in a cynical way?
Sound familiar…?
Same MO as TSP and/or a boatload of other acronyms… 8-(
Actually, I don’t consider them actual hybrids.
The government didn’t buy it either since those things are not eligible for the fuel efficiency tax credit.
Schlafly?
Yes all the power of an electric car goes through the motor at once acceleration is faster in electric cars now assuming they had one with enough torque to pull a load all the power would hit at once.
I don’t know if we have the batteries yet for an all electric truck but hybrid Diesel/electric yes.
http://seekingalpha.com/articl…..ster-truck
An all electric truck however would not need a transmission.
I would be really careful applying the word “Christian” to this particular woman. Apparently she belongs to a radical denounced sect of the Assembly of God that believes the whole world is infested with witches and demons and it is their job to root them out.
So AEI is running al our military strategy?
And do you think that “deniability” at the end of the article was due to the fact Baker and Hamilton where working on a different plan at the time?
Indeed. Probably just pulled key guys off the street, seriously roughed ‘em up in detention, and implanted leeeeetle teeny microphones in their ears while they were out cold. Wounds heal over, then JSOC can hear everything that happens from then on.
It’s depressing that so little would surprise me any more…
You can Digg this post HERE
Well, is ’schmuck’ or ‘putz’ usable for a female?
SO that name, Assembly of God, always made me wonder. When you Assemble God, what do you Assemble he/it/her from?
Got me!
I’m still trying to figure out how to assemble the cheap bookcase I bought from Big Lots right before their store closed!
707
No transmission (like the car in Who Killed The Electric Car) sure would drop the price tag and potential maintenance costs. Especially on mid or heavy weight work vehicles.
They’re both essentially male-specific terms.
That lot (AoG) was always pretty ‘radical’ in the worship department but apparently the bunch Palin hangs out with scared even them. This sect was denounced and kicked out of the AoG back in 1949 but is still around and associated with the likes of Hagee and Haggard and all those really neat guys.
a ’shiksa’ is a gentile woman (i’m pretty sure), but i can’t find something like ‘bad shiksa’ out there.
Oh, and HER pastor (she was a member for more than 25 years!) makes Jeremiah Wright sound like a cupcake!
Yes. Like I said, Jesus Camp.
It isn’t the word, it’s the emphasis in the pronunciation, then the rolling eyeballs, followed by a certain flip of the head and then turning the back on that turns it into ‘bad shiksa’
Don’t worry I don’t think we can afford this bailout so if Stockholders hold on to Freddie and Fannie too long they will get stuck with worthless stock.
Sure we can bail them out if Fannie and Freddie’s debt levels stay where they are at now.
But who really expects that? Or that Freddie and Fannie have been completely honest with the government about their financial position?
Notice that Freddie and Fannie broke before the election and that the Car companies broke before the election.
I’m sure Bush begged them to wait until after Obama got elected so that it would look like the Market had no confidence in Obama.
For them both to break before the election suggests that things are even worse than I thought and that (I think Ian said this) that these companies are desperate to do a deal while Bush is still in power and Obama can be pressured by the election.
Also they want to be first in line before America’s cash runs out.
hard to do that in text alone. I’m looking at it as a title for a post.
If Moose-Mama is going to avoid talking to the press, who is going to expose just how radical she is and how disturbing her family is? Can we count on the voters to come to their senses and do the right thing? I fear not. I fear for my country.
True the Chevy Volt doesn’t have a transmission does it? I want to read a car magazine test drive of the Volt were they get rough.
As descriptive as Yiddish is, seems like there ought to be just the right term.
But being a fallen Lutheran, I am worse than clueless.
On the off chance you can accept non-Hebrew, may I suggest: Brat, Mean Girl, Sarcasmo the Great, and/or Lenscrafters Model?
Ok that is a good angle on a very interesting issue we should follow up on this.
I hadn’t read the whole article yet, so I’m not sure about that deniability you reference, I’ll definitely say that AEI and Heritage, among other think tanks were knee deep in the failures that make up Iraq and Afghanistan… Read PT 1… from the link I provided earlier…!
I shall bid ya’ll a fond adieu! Aloha Oe!!!
Unless she gets scalded by scandal that can’t be ignored, or we get some serious help from Gwen Iffil, we could be very much fucked.
This act of desperation by McCheese – stroke of genius.
Yeah, I am not Jewish either but have a very dear longtime friend who is and I’ve seen this from her mom. But I would not dare to ask her mother about this!
D’oh! Yiddish, I meant. Ignorant goy that I am.
‘Moose-gutter’ has a certain Germanic lilt to it. ‘Hypocrite’ has a classic bent. ‘Radical’ lends the fear factor.

I also recommend Naked Capitalism blog. But really, this is quite a huge story, so big that it will take some days of processing, no doubt. So big that it completely drowned out the firing of the CEO of Washington Mutual (WaMu, or Wa-a-a-a! Moo-o-o-o!) thrift. All the econ and finance blogs will have something on it over the next few days. And Dodd says to look for hearings (though I wouldn’t expect much from them, frankly).
Btw, Yves at NCap says the market to watch is debt, not stocks; it’s the bond market spreads and willingness to buy US mortgage bonds that will have more to do with how this all plays out than stocks. Makes sense to me.
But if there’s no transmission what would you do during power outages?
You wouldn’t have a back-up system. Where we live the outages can go on for several days after a bad storm, and 9 days to 2 weeks after a really bad storm.
As the weather gets more intense and the grid repair more focused on urban/populated areas, that could get tricky.
Unless you’re off the grid with your own power source.
Thanks for the link to #1.. I haven’t read it yet and wanted to. G’ nite CT.
The librarian was not the only employee of Wasilla city government who was not cowed by Mayor Sarah Palin.
The quote above is from a Seattle Times report, Sarah Palin had turbulent first year as mayor of Alaska town.
The Republican team (wherever they are) can tell us any ol’ time how much Sarah Palin has changed since 1996. If they assert that there was no need for her to change, they’ll be admitting what kind of leader they think we deserve.
I think Hmmm posted a great link about this group on an earlier thread and I can’t find it so maybe a re-post would be in order. Please???
Off the grid or just one little panel and an extra battery to switch out in times like that. Besides, where I live, I know I should be prepared (in winter especially) for a couple of weeks without the ability to get out. Car running or not.
Is their a Yiddish equivalent to “slut”?
I see Sarah getting the 30%ers excited which they were not excited about McCain before but I think the voters are paying attention this year we are about to elect the first African American as President, also we have been fighting the war on Terror longer than we fought WW2, and finally gas prices are sky high the “Surge ” is working when gas is below $2 a gallon.
Not to Mention that Sarah has a teenage daughter who needs to learn about birth control. Real prolife moms don’t fly home while in labor ignoring all the good hospitals in Texas and Seattle.
Birth control and sex ed vs abstinence are two issues that Sarah brings up with her family situation that the GOP does not want moderate voters to pay attention too.
Given her family situation I don’t see how voters can ignore unmarried teens getting married and not judging the VP harshly.
Also is the future son in law still in highschool did he graduate I read somewhere that he is not listed on the hockey team this year so he might have dropped out of school?
Nite CTuttle
Not sure if this answers what you’re asking, but most electric vehicles recharge the battery by using the motor as a kinetic generator, and use computers and software to make sure the battery never gets so low it can’t move the vehicle. Only plug-in electric-only vehicles (non-hybrids) don’t also have a gas engine, which can be used as a gas generator to recharge the battery (in addition to the kinetic generator).
nafka
See my #35 above, not on a previous thread.
Ms ET watched the YouTube of the church. She’s never been in there. I have. We live eleven miles from it. In our old house, we were four miles away.
We just started locking our doors for the first time in years, this week. We’re well-armed. But Ms. ET, after watching the video, stated flatly, “We may need some silver bullets, dear!”
I think you are getting two issues confused. ES was discussing the portion (the gears) of the drivetrain on a car or truck that ‘transmits’ the power from the engine to the wheels (in a manner of speaking). Earlier I was discussing transmission lines – the ones on the poles that bring electricity from the power plant to your house or business.
Electric cars do not have a transmission like a regular gasoline car. The power goes directly from the engine to the wheels without the gears (the transmission) in between.
Sorry!, my #151 was a reply to your #144.
What are we going to do if Palin becomes president?
‘Night, CT. Sweet dreams to ye.
I like it!
Sarah Palin’s churches are actively involved in a resurgent movement that was declared heretical by the Assemblies of God in 1949. This is the same ‘Spiritual Warfare’ movement that was featured in the award winning movie, “Jesus Camp,” which showed young children being trained to do battle for the Lord. At least three of four of Palin’s churches are involved with major organizations and leaders of this movement, which is referred to as The Third Wave of the Holy Spirit or the New Apostolic Reformation. The movement is training a young “Joel’s Army” to take dominion over the United States and the world.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/…..24611.html
Sarah’s church is the SAME EXACT ONE AS JESUS CAMP! Ok must rent that video again.
Thanks Hmmm, and sorry – no wonder I couldn’t find it! I get a little discombobulated trying to read everything, and keep doing the other stuff I have to accomplish at the same time!
Thank you very much.
I bet. It scared me, and I’m however many thousand miles away from it. Did you know you lived in a designated gathering state for when the Rapture comes, ET?
All true. But after watching Gore and Kerry go down in wifts of smoke, I don’t trust American voters. And with no 4th estate to give adequate and honest information, I think we are in for some trying times. Troubling.
Psych ‘em out by all moving to Alaska, and then seceding.
Oh OK. I missed your earlier comment on transmissions. Sorry about that.
We must do everything we can to make sure that DOES NOT HAPPEN!
That’s what I’m sayin’.
‘koorvah’ is prostitute
Does Canada have a quota on immigrants from the U.S.?
Dogs big dogs they can warn you of trouble while your are sleeping. Didn’t Sarah’s mother in law run for mayor as a Dem and members of Sara’s church vandalized her house or something?
I wonder why Sarah’s husband does not seem to have the stones to stand up for his mom. Does he still go that church after what they did?
The “First Dude” is a dud
I did have one little question.. A while back you mentioned a church camp going on across the waters from your home.. Was it THE Palin church camp? If so, I told you to go spy on them! *g*
Part of why we’re well-armed. I’ve been told several times through the grapevine of people who have left these cults that my name is near the top of all the lists. I’m sure I wrote about it here some time ago. Can’t remember why, though.
We’re going to regret that we didn’t take up pitchforks long ago…….like 2000 and 2004. The one thing I see is that Palin may make the rest of us actually get moving! I’m writing to every on-the-fence person and all of the lingering Repubs that I know…..and sending as much information as I can gather and asking that if they cannot vote for Obama (and some of them are such intrenched racists that they just can’t) that they simply not vote this time …… so that my children and grandchildren can have a chance.
You’re right. I’m too slow tonight to think about owning extra BATTERIES! Duh.
Maybe it’s time to take McAntichrist up on his offer to award someone,what,3 million to develope a better battery to solve the energy crisis.
Not that he’d actually pay up when that happened.
That’s why the English language is so messed up. So many words that mean so many different things. In Eskimo – they have about one hundred different words for snow. Each one describes the snow in different ways – if it is crunchy, soft, wet, or whatever. We have ’snow’. And that’s it.
So then we use one word to describe a bunch of different things – like transmission. A car part. A word to describe electrical lines. A word to describe what a germ does.
Ugh.
Dear Late Late friends, I truly do not want to see another civil war in the US.
Ok that got me worried if voting problems surface again like they did Bush vs Gore in Florida or Bush vs Kerry in Ohio is Obama going to fight?
What can we do? Aside from sell everything and move? I see a very bad market if McCain wins I can’t afford four more years of lower stock markets when adjusted for inflation.
Lower since the start of Bush’s term.
I regret not taking up pitchforks for Carters reelection.
Camp Challenge isn’t Assemblies of God. It is sort of inter-denominational Christian. Yeah, they’re across the lake. Some users are fundamentalist, some sort of kinky with their kids – the way they manipulate them, Jesus Camp-like.
Next weekend, I think a big Anchorage African-Aerican Church has it. If the weather is nice, I hope to get outside and listen. They sing so cool!
You are soooo right. I’m organizing a voter registration drive in my apartment complex of over 250 apartments. I’ve never been the kind to go around and do stuff like this but we absolutely HAVE to this time.
The 2000 and 2004 elections should have been a wake-up call – especially since we now know that both of them were rigged and stolen and that both Gore and Kerry actually won.
We just cannot let that happen again. And if you live in or near one of the supposed battleground states – talk to people to make sure they really are STILL registered since these purges are going on all the time and you never know. Tell people to check – before its too late to re-register.
And if you know someone who might not have the correct ID – get them to the DMV or wherever to get one!
Wow. Dana Priest interviewing Jane Meyer (The Dark Side) on C-Span 2 right now.
Rove is still doing his evilness and McShame is surrounded by lobbyists. We are all at risk. All I can think to do is to try to get truth out there…..again, and again. And I cannot count on journalists to do diddly. It has to come from us. There should have been a huge backlash against Sarah Palin-style ‘christianity’ — but I sure haven’t seen it. There should have been shock and horror from the pasty whities at the Repuke convention as brazen knocked-up daughter and gum-sucking bad boy paraded on the national stage….but there didn’t seem to be. It’s all a twisted mess!
Well, the point is, one solar panel and a few batteries would do country folks like you and me a lot of good in the home.. and if it served as backup power for the auto.. that’s all the better. It’s an additional cost, but on that small (one panel) scale it’s not to bad. I have a friend who runs his entire home on one panel (and batteries). A very nice home.
It does answer my concerns. We live in a small community that has one store with an electric plug-in in the parking lot for electric cars. I just assumed all electric cars had to plug in at some point.
I know the price of going off the grid is horrendous right now because the technology’s too new.
Don’t worry the Corporate wing of the GOP won’t let it happen it would be bad for business. They need an economic crisis that everyone knows they (Bush) did not cause before they can cause a Shock Doctrine event and take over.
The same shock that brought the Nazi’s to power also brought the Commies in Russia to power. The Corporate Wing of the GOP does not want to risk that when they only have 30% support.
Notice that McCain is still behind Obama in the cash the Corporate Wing of the GOP is not giving to McCain they think Obama is going to win this one.
Appeals to 30%ers are meant to protect the GOPs Senate filibuster so the GOP can stop laws they don’t like.
Notice that McCain is not trying to win moderate voters. He wants the South and the West religious nuts and racists he seems to have written off the rest of the country.
Hey! what a great idea – and by the way the prize is $300 million, not $3 million!
I would take a look at Toyota’s hybrid battery as a starting point – it’s very small – and they last a really long time. When I bought my Prius in 2005 they said they didn’t know how long the batteries last because they had not had one fail under normal usage yet. Prius’ had been on the road since 1999 so that was at least 6 years at the time. I haven’t asked recently, but they apparently work pretty well.
The batteries are the key for a couple of reasons – enough storage to allow long-distance driving versus the loss of driving distance due to the extra weight of large or multiple batteries.
Give it time the MSM is always a few months behind us in covering the news.
But if we keep bringing subjects up every day people do notice. Sure it might take months:)
How many miles on your Prius, has the MPG gone down since you bought it?
We don’t have months. We have weeks now.
Actually, the technology isn’t that new – it’s just that in the beginning it is expensive because not too many people are buying it yet. Kind of like TVs. When the new ones first came out they cost almost $2000. They’re down around $700 now and the price is still dropping. As more and more people buy, the price comes down. Solar panels are now available in roofing (can’t tell it from a regular roof shingle), and about a month ago they announced they can ‘print’ one on almost anything. The announcement said you could have a solar panel printed on that sunshield stuff you put on windows to protect things from the sunlight.
Solar panels are getting smaller and more efficient.
One other reason for the cost is that the government does not subsidize them like they subsidize the oil and coal industries. If we are really serious about getting off the oil and coal – we need to transfer those subsidies to solar and wind and geothermal instead.
We don’t have months and months! Election… less than 2 months away. Need to get information out NOW — and McShame seems to be teaching Palin to say nothing of substance…..just keep giving that need-more-lipstick and-less-pitbull smile. As a human being, I am so offended by Palin and her family. But I only get one vote.
Rachel is getting her show this monday right? I must call the cable company now if anyone in the MSM is going to cover stuff like this it will be her.
FWIW I have a 2005 Prius and the mileage has been remarkably consistent, about 42.
The air car looks so promising…. and no need for batteries or fuel.
I’m signing out. Good night fabulous firedogs.
Glad I came here tonight. I have to say, as much as you folks are learning about Alaska from this absurdly scary experience, I’m learning a lot participating in the pushback.
Thanks.
It’s kind of hard to tell – when I bought it I lived in Florida. I drove with the A/C on 100% of the time. I did a lot of highway driving and not much in town and averaged about 47.5 mpg.
I have moved to Montana now, and do mostly in town driving with one long trip per month usually. I don’t use the A/C much but do use the heater in the winter. It is also very mountainous and I live on a steep hill myself so even my in-town driving is up and down hills. I am averaging about 46.2 mpg here. I have also switched to a different kind of tires. And the gasoline here is 85 octane for regular. In Florida it was 87 octane. And they put in ethanol here in the winter which drives your mileage down as well.
So….
nite eureka
I’ve been keeping my eyes and ears peeled for information as to the likelihood that Ike will strengthen after passing Cuba. In a Newsday.com report I just spotted this:
‘Night, ES. Thanks for hosting, and sweet dreams to ye.
g’nite ES
Jesus Camp? NOW I know why I was so depressed from her energy. I couldn’t even finish that movie.
Hey jacqrat!
Fortunately, I don’t drink enough to have gotten 15 minutes in.
We win when the election is about the issues the GOP wins on fear and gossip
well that and vote fraud. Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac the Car companies want loans McCain’s son’s bank failed regular voters notice this and they notice that the war for oil is costing them higher gas prices so its hard to say the Surge is working.
I like where we are on the issues except FISA. The only thing I worry about this election is not I still can’t tell the difference between a Sunni and a Shia John McCain or Sarah (I hope she keeps on discrediting the Jesus Camp wing of the GOP). And I don’t worry about the MSM hacks because less and less people are paying attention to them.
Nope I worry about Vote Fraud.
Thanks for the weather report. I have family on the Gulf side of Florida so even though it looks like Ike will miss them – I still worry a lot during hurricane season. And I do worry about all the people in Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana and Texas as well as all the Gulf States of Mexico. People are still digging out from Gustav and here comes another one. Or they are still digging out from Katrina and Rita. Or whatever hurricane hit them last.
Anyway, be safe all who are in the path of Ike.
I’d like to be where you are….but I hear too many folks getting excited about Palin and McCain as a ‘maverick’ team…..as if they even knew what that meant. I don’t have, perhaps, as much respect for American voters as you do…..and I’m hopeful that I’m way wrong!
Right. They don’t have to cancel the election, they just need to make it close enough to steal. That’s the danger in the Palin bump, it helps bring stealing within reach.
Volunteer to be a poll watcher at your local Dem party headquarters. Or if you still have time – volunteer to be a poll worker. Report all suspect incidents to the Dem organization – or to one of the many non-profit, non-partisan poll-watch organizations. Talk to your county/parish/burough elections board about their security measures. Advocate for paper ballots. Vote absentee (a paper ballot) Encourage all your friends and relatives to do so as well.
Yes, we are in a serious world of shit.
I’m so sorry the EdwardTeller has to be in the center of the storm at his home.
I’m almost panicking at the requirement that my son register with the Armed Forces this month.
We went to a local Fair last week, not because we’re big on Fairs, but because the Army had their new recruitment booth set up. Very slick. Very frightening. And we wanted a first hand glimpse.
Obstacle coarses, remote control mini-tanks, violent video games, dog tags, camo face painting and strong young people manning it.
But ultimately it was a processing center designed to push lots of people thru with photos and ID cards .
Country fairs ain’t what they used to be. The Fair mission is Agriculture. They’re harvesting our youngbloods.
I agree. People don’t vote on the issues – if that were the case, all the ‘rednecks’ would be Democrats rather than Repubs. All women would be Democrats. And half of all the rest of the people in the Repub party would also be Democrats if that were true at all.
Peole vote on emotions. And most people don’t even start listening to the elections stuff until two days before election day. And by then, all they are seeing usually is nasty attack ads by both parties. So the one that grabs them in the gut is who they vote for. And as everyone knows, most of those attack ads are exaggerations, spin and blatant lies for the most part.
Obama is trying to change that – but I hope he and his campaign can come up with some hard-hitting ads to run those last few days that will actually grab some guts and make people want to vote for him instead of McPalin. I don’t know what it would be though.
I’m with you on this. The Democrats take their candidacy in stretches of days – perhaps 7 to 10. The Republicans run their race hour to hour, and are driving the bus right now.
Who could have believed that Palin’s announcement would obliterate the Democratic convention’s momentum? It is like it didn’t happen.
Yeah, I know – losing sleep over a perceived slowdown in this race. I lost the same amount of sleep after seeing Kerry with a shotgun slung over his shoulder, wearing cammo gear, strutting like a BlueBlood through rural Ohio in October 2004.
Gotta sign off. Sweet dreams, all ye Giants of Late Late.
Nite folks
nite hmmm

http://www.pollster.com/polls/…..ge-mvo.php
I urge all who are concerned about the election to watch polls on the link above. This is a long-term-trends poll compilation. It is much more reliable than the ‘daily tracking polls’ favored by the media.
Even though the daily tracking polls show McCain with a ‘bump’ – the trendlines are in Obama’s favor. He already has 231 ‘locked’ electoral college votes and another 29 ‘leaning’ giving him 260 of the 272 he needs to win. There are 99 toss-up votes – and Obama is leading in most of those states. His trend lines in most individual states are going up, while McCain’s are going down in the states he is leading in. There are a bunch of states in the tossup column that have not had regular polls – Montana being one of them. It is a traditionally ‘red’ state but the two polls that have been taken have Obama ahead by quite a large margin.
(I don’t get how Montana is a ‘red’ state with a Dem governor, two Dem US Senators, and one house of the legislature controlled by Dems, but oh well.)
Anyway – the people on pollster.com did an article recently about all these daily tracking polls and how relevant they are to who is ahead. The completely non-partisan polling organizations like Pew Research Center and Quinnipiac University all project Obama winning by a huge margin. The next category was partisan polls including one run by non other than Karl Rove. They also predicted that Obama would win – by a smaller margin but still a substantial one. Including Karl Rove’s poll.
Then there was the FCM polling (Gallup, etc) They all were saying it was neck and neck or McCain was slightly ahead or whatever.
The FCM NEEDS the race to be really close or they would have nothing to flap their yaps about. They have to have these big discussions about whether Obama has a ‘problem’ with this demographic group or other. They have more endless discussions about why Obama is not ‘connecting’ with voters, or ‘making the case’ or whatever. Fills up time, creates all this furor, people tune in because they are anxious about the results to see what’s happening today.
Anyway, what I wanted to say was to think positive, keep working, but do not believe the crap the FCM is feeding you about the polls and who is or is not ahead at the moment.
lokywoky, thank you.
Attaturk is upstairs!
Oh, joy
Nice page. Thanks.
nite pups
You are quite welcome. In the end, counting ECV (Electoral College Votes) is actually more important than just votes anyway. As we saw in 2000, you can win the popular vote and lose the ECV.
In this case – Obama is far ahead in locked ECV and leaning ECV. He is leading in Ohio, New Hampshire, Virginia and Montana – way more votes than he needs to win. And his trend lines are going up in all those states as well.
So…try not to worry so much – but keep working – the bigger the blow-out the better. We need to destroy the neo-con brand.
Thank you for bringing this up. I sometimes feel desperate reading the polls. Then I remember they’re bullshit. Then I think it’s a setup for stealing the next election. Correction, then I KNOW they’re setting us up to steal the next election. How has anything magically changed in the Diebold machines?
Lily Tomlin was right.
” No matter how cynical I get, it’s never enough to keep up.”
But, what choice do we have except to stay informed and dedicated to the Constitution, Rule of Law and our soldiers who so desperately need us to stay focused. As do the Iraqi’s suffering under the horror our tax dollars are perpetuating on their destroyed lives.
It’s just so big.
Then I think,” Fuck you,Cheney,Addington,Murdoch,Moonies et.al,you don’t get to win without a fight!”
Governor Palin should articulate her position on separation of church and state and the Establishment Clause. During the campaign home stretch she should not be allowed to hide from her official remarks quoted in the ADN.com news report, State paid for trip when Palin told students to pray for pipeline, especially these:
The Republican effort to make critics come out as being for or against faith, for or against spreading the gospel (evangelizing), for or against God and country, should be anticipated and countered.
Another try at the link: State paid for trip when Palin told students to pray for pipeline
