So with that in mind, let’s explore why we, The Left, "hate" Sarah Palin. Because, you see, we do. I myself had no idea I had anything against her personally. I thought the fact that she lied flat-out in her Teh Awesomes speech about the Bridge to Nowhere made her look like, uh, a liar, a class of person whom I tend not to particularly admire. I also am not pleased about her ridiculous global warming position, and yeah, her position on gay marriage makes her look like a bigot. A foreign policy that is more pragmatic and less messianic and ill-informed might also be nice to see, given how unhappily the last eight years have gone, foreign policy-wise.
But apparently nooooo, is deeper and darker than that. Here. Did you know we hate babies with Down’s Syndrome? Trig Palin’s Down’s Syndrome is a challenge to their ideas about what represents worthwhile life.
The fact that this Down’s baby was carried to term and not aborted is statement that his life has the same value as all life.
Now that he’s born, yes, his life is worth the same as anyone else’s. Or, the same moment his mother chose to bring him to term, to be more precise. Frankly I don’t like judging any woman out in that position: that’s not in my pay grade, to coin a term. But as for the accusation that The Left hates kids with Down’s Syndrome — with backup in the form of a link to Ruth Marcus of the WaPo (!) — and take it to Michael Berube. Moving on:
Palin’s family is a double-rebuke to the culture of abortion. First, there’s Palin’s decision not to kill Trig because he has Trisomy 21. Then there is seventeen-year-old Bristol Palin’s decision to not to kill her baby.
Um. What…? She had a "decision." We’re "pro-choice." This is another way of saying we are "pro-decision," because "decision" and "choice" are what we on The Left call "synonyms."
Contrast this with Barack Obama’s statement that he would keep abortion legal so that if one of his daughters were to “make a mistake, I don’t want them punished with a baby.” This statement is freighted with meaning
It’s also freighted with a wingnut either lying about or being ignorant of the context of Obama’s remark. Neither option tends to make me more sympathetic to the finger-wagging moralizing that follows.
Then there are Palin’s religious views. She is a lifelong Christian who belongs to an evangelical church. No further explanations should be needed about the provocations which emanate there from.
She is against full equality for homosexuals and against choice on religious grounds. I am for these things on ideological grounds. Egad. But here’s where it gets fun:
Finally, there’s the fertility. The Palin family’s five children would have been unexceptional forty years ago, but today constitute something of a fertility freak show. They’re the type of people for whom the epithet “breeder” was invented….
Why the worry about this? First, there’s the fact that few of Palin’s tormenters can understand the fact of her large, traditional family. That is certainly not the way in which they have structured their lives.
My wife & I have 4 kids. I admit it. Somehow, I don’t think anyone here at FDL thinks any the less of me for this admission. Frankly, I’ve been a liberal for a while, and I pay attention to a lot of what liberals say, and I really do have yet to hear anyone say anything at all about families with lots of kids (within reason, of course).
For months, Greater Wingnuttia has been whining that any criticism of Obama is met with cries of "racism." Even the racist stuff! And now we discover that The Left "hates" Sarah Palin because she has babies and God, and we shouldn’t criticize her when it comes to either, and who cares whether or not she has it coming. Huh.
Well, I’m not buying it, even if the very liberal partisan Democrat New York Times is.

The wingnuts lie!
Aloha, Thers!
Digg it here!
Evening, Thers, CT
“Conservatives” like nothing better than to bask in a fond self-image of themselves as Distinguished Intellectuals,
wow – my first LOL, and only half-way through the first sentence.
This may be a new record. I’ll have the staff get back to you….
Did you see how hard Samantha Bee (of The Daily Show) had to work to get the republicans to say “choice” at the FNC (Fascist Nativist Conglomeration) in St. Paul?
It was like watching Fonzie say the word “wrong”.
I actually thought that was a favorite wingnut meme. “The Muslims are going to breed us out of existence” “The welfare queens with their dozen kids” etc. etc.
I have just never seen liberals make equivalent statements…
Sarah Palin is a noted Intellectual
In their bullshit bestiaries “The Left” alternatively appears as gangs of fascists, or communists (or both!); latte-sipping elitists or 40s-swilling homeboys; radical homosexual-agenda pushers or fifth-column Islamofascists. Why, we’re dangerous, unpatriotic kooks
Can I apply for membership in more than one group, or is that just too much?
Here’s the Samantha Bee video…
I hates hateful haters!
And Rose Kennedy (D) and Ethel and Robert Kennedy (D) had how many? Sarah may be in league with Planned Parenthood.
Is it the silly season yet?
I’m going for the “unpatriotic kooks” since I read the constitution and served in the Armed Forces in my misspent youth. (If I only have to choose one group)
Evening all.
Stupid SEC refs.
I personally am opting for “all of the above.” 8-)
“Then there is seventeen-year-old Bristol Palin’s decision to not to kill her baby.”
And she, and her parents, made a decision not to have birth control, and have a baby.
Thank you so much…this is great. I’m sending this column far and wide.
hey thers
Uh oh, what game are ya watching, Thers?
But, but, but…I thought mama and daddy were adamantly anti-abortion. Sort of leaves only one alternative doesn’t it? Not much of a choice if you ask me or is it that “choice” is OK in chez Palin, but not for the rest of us irresponsible and wanton curs?
they had a choice – and she wants to deny us the right to make our own choices for ourselves
IOKIYAR
But the bottom line is Ms Sarah is on the VP slot. Very well-positioned to be Pres. if McSame shows much more dementia/PTSD. That is not a laughing matter, and it is the most important fact in the conversation. That should keep me awake.
That will be a video classic!
gah. I am so effin sick of wingnut crappola n lies. gak. *spits*
Well, at least the father of the baby is going to marry her. I sure he had the choice too.
Yeah, marry her or eat that shotgun.
Good point. Why’s it bad to have lots of babies if you’re African-American or Muslim?
And it isn’t if you’re self-described “Valley Trash” from Alaska?
One of these things is not like the other….hmmm.
Well, duh. Dr. Tom Coburn, US Senate says that Condoms are Unreliable. Therefore, why bother?
Bristol Palin was doomed before she spread her legs… no doubt about it. The same is true for how many more teenagers and others with the 12th Century worldviews of the “Distinguished Intellectuals” of the allegedly “21st Century old white guys” of the republican party?
Good evening Thers, Howdy firepups.
So glad I am not alone in my hating. Who do I hate tomorrow again? Can’t find the memo.
‘Canes – Gators. Horrible horrible call, changes whole game. Hate seeing that.
Breeder!
If Sarah doesn’t believe in birth control she may have a couple more little Palins before she retires her uterus.
But, remember…calling someone a ‘liar’ when they are lying(or, if you prefer, telling ‘an untruth’) is a hateful thing, right? Not like we haven’t been listening to “Liars Lying 24/7″ for the past 8 years or anything? How is saying, “That’s not true” somehow better or nicer or less hateful than saying, “You’re lying” or “You are a liar”? How can manipulating people and the congress into getting us into multiple, simultaneous wars by lying NOT be hateful?
A Formal wedding will be had.
White Shotguns at the trailer park.
“So Sambo beat the bitch!”
–Sara Palin, who doesn’t hate people like lefties do
I resemble that remark, though not as prolifically as Thers.
Remember, it’s not the age..it’s the mileage.
I am a breeder!
These people live in an odd world. Liberals don’t like children…?
I got home from the Sat protest to catch the last 6 minutes on the radio. Go Gators.
Hi Thers.
Don’t you just love it when the choice is so easy to make?
Apocryphal at best, so far. Not sure if I hope it’s true… But vastly short on proof that this was said by She That Shooteth Moose.
Apparently she does believe in birth control (I have seen a couple of stories on this), but not in abortion. As to retiring the uterus, at 44 its sell by date is just about up already. (Average fertile period for women is 15-45 though that may be increasing).
For supper or as a snack?
Oh boo. My ‘Canes D had them handled until that call.
My guess is that she has already re-set her odometer.
Not the way Mark Foley likes children.
thank you for putting that into quotes so the pups don’t think that is your perspective.
tis a very sensitive term
It is so uncivil to call someone a liar. Much better don’t you know just to overlook the whole thing. If you must make a point of it, better to say they merely “misspoke,” don’t cha know.
I’m located in the wrong part of the country to see the game…! I didn’t like the drubbing my Warriors got last week from the Gators…!
hee hee.
Yum, Christian babies in a fricasee!
Unfortunately for poor little Trig(onometric function), she did not reset the odometer on her eggs, which are way behind the sell by date.
First, there’s Palin’s decision not to kill Trig because he has Trisomy 21.
Wonder what her position is on the death penalty? Or more specifically, on Atkins v. Virginia, where the U.S. Supreme Court decided that “retarded” (Court’s language, not mine) persons may not constitutionally be executed? (Rehnquist, Scalia, and Thomas dissenting).
Aren’t the wingnuts still pissed about that one?
I like my child. And I even like my grandchildren (especially since I can send them home when they become pains in the ass).
DAD: The mill’s closed! There’s no more work. We’re destitute.
CHILDREN: [talking]
DAD: Come in, my little loves. I’ve got no option but to sell you all for scientific experiments.
CHILDREN: [whining]
DAD: No, no. That’s the way it is, my loves. Blame the Catholic church for not letting me wear one of those little rubber things. Oh, they’ve done some wonderful things in their time. They preserved the might and majesty, the mystery of the Church of Rome, and the sanctity of the sacraments, the indivisible oneness of the Trinity, but if they’d let me wear one of those little rubber things on the end of my cock, we wouldn’t be in the mess we are now.
BOY: Couldn’t Mummy have worn some sort of pessary?
DAD: Not if we’re going to remain members of the fastest growing religion in the world, my boy.
DAD: Oh, bloody hell.
[fwump]
BABY: [crying]
MUM: Ohh, get that, would you, Deirdre?
DIERDRE: All right, Mum.
BABY: [crying]
For all intents and purposes I missed the whole thing. At least I’ll have the Gators to wean me off baseball but I’ll be in withdrawal between the title game and opening day.
Let me see if I have this right, fundie social conservatives practice abstinence until one of them becomes pregnant, then they have a shotgun wedding and from that moment on screw their brains out, which either suggests ignorance of the mechanics of sex (possible since they also abstain from sex-ed), or abnormal physiology in regard to the location of their brains. In any event they continue to abstain from contraception and choice. Factor in their tendency to couple with a close relative and it is easy to understand how they could become logic-impaired.
Fear not. I’m sure Bristol didn’t enjoy it.
Well she is certainly pro-blowing the shit out of little brown children in the Middle East. Like most Rethugs, she is only pro-life until you actually have one. Then you are on your own and fair game.
silly: it’s Ok to kill them after they’ve
(thwump) hit the floorbeen bornthat’show conservatives show their love for creation: when they’re not paving, drilling, poisoning, or roasting it
Makes me want to buy an “I’m A Hippie” t-shirt. Or DFH, either way.
If Sarah doesn’t believe in birth control she may have a couple more little Palins before she retires her uterus.
Let’s just hope that she doesn’t think, since she doesn’t know for sure, that *one* of the V.P.’s duties is to
be ofservice the president?Has that report been verified? That’s about the most despicable thing I’ve heard in a very long time. That’s right out of the old south.
that report has not be verified. anonymously sourced to the waitress who claims to have heard it in an article filled with anonymous sources who were ‘too scared to disclose their names’
eeeeeewwwwwwww
Finally! Someone who understands the rural definition of the verb ’service’. Bravo.
EPued:
Will be back after!!
Liberals don’t like babies…… hmmmm I have three kids, one biological son and two adopted from Korea. I also was a foster mother, some for very short time but 6 teenagers stayed longer than a year and one for nearly 2.
My own son was ADD & dyslexia and the two adopted children had their own learning disabilities. Foster kids some with their lovely issues…… David…. who lived the longest with me…. his biological mother would deny him food…. telling him that she did didn’t buy it with the child support…… and she was such a good christian…..
But then I might have been a community organizer….. helping a Hispanic family get settled who had been homeless living in their car for 5 years …
Ya liberals don’t care…… they don’t volunteer with the Red Cross or Habitat for Humanity or a thousand other charities…. Fork these people are NUTS….
I didn’t pop out new kids, I tried to help the kids that were already here…. is that wrong?
My very Leftist 18 year old stepdaughter has not made me a grandpa yet. Nor do I own a shotgun.
Weird!
poor goodling – she was so disappointed
It is so uncivil to call someone a liar. Much better don’t you know just to overlook the whole thing. If you must make a point of it, better to say they merely “misspoke,” don’t cha know.
Luckily, Rachel and KO seemed to have missed that memo….
Before leaving for the grill, Neuro I dugg you Digg(:>))
Been reading that MO all over different articles & blogs….. the boys from Jersey don’t keep as tight an organization than what seems to be going on in Alaska….
That’s the one I saw. Without a good verification it isn’t worth squat.
Doesn’t mean I won’t use it against her, though. If Karl can do it, why can’t I. *g*
See that’s the thing that bugs me about the “pro-lifers”. They act as if everyone who is pro-choice thinks every pregnancy should be aborted. As if we’re going to drag pregnant women out of their homes and haul them away “to kill the baby”.
What total rot. What we’re saying is that the decision should be up to each woman and her doctor. Nobody condemned Palin for having her baby, and nobody condemns Bristol for carrying hers. Although it’s clear that she didn’t practice the abstinence her mother preaches. Does anybody tell these kids about STDs?
I think we can assume that the “collateral damage” resulting from Ms Palin’s (Jesus-approved) preemptive wars has included many mothers and children, both born and unborn.
Yes, Katy..you have grasped the essentials: They only ‘count’ if they are fruit of your womb.
Yes, I think Rachel gave a very good concise lesson on “liars lying’ the other night. Set me right up, that did.
Good point. It would be great for America to have a pregnant Vice President with 6 kids. One in Iraq, one with a baby the Vice President would help out, two others under the age of 15, and a Downs Syndrome baby. What could be easier?
Funny that. My son, the product of a godless hippie unnatural single (male) parent upbringing managed not to have any kids until after he had been married a decent interval.
i prefer to not think of myself as being a low crawling yellow bellied boot licker lying snake with a brown nose
crap.. pressed submit before i added in the *g*
Ouch. Point taken.
Or worse, similar in any way to Karl Rove.
That’s just it…. those are my babies…. all of them….. Fork them all… see what I get for hanging out with Suzanne….. my language has gone to hell….
sorry for the ouch.. see my 81
fork – i’m so forking sorry doodette
That’s not some weird reference to the Mittsters Magic Undies is it? LOL!!!
I also blame it on Elmore….. boy do TeeVee guys have colorful language *g*
By any chance is womb fruit a dietary staple of the wombat?
OK, dat’s better. The Queen of Mean can call me all the names she wants to.
Sticks and stones… Nyyaaahhhh Nyyaaahhhh
It only counts if they are unborn in the Rethug theology.
Not at all. I have great respect for your work with foster kids. You done good!
Heh, that reminds me of all the snide remarks my wife heard from her friends about why we’d got married… Must’ve been a long pregnancy since it was almost 2 yrs afterwards she gave birth to my daughter…!
Palin’s mom, however, has given strong presumptive reason to question her decision
Yes, and they’re now trying to convince us that Sarah is pro-condom and thus has Different Views from McCain. (Per the LA Times, this morning.)
I’m not buying whatever they’re using, it clearly fries brains.
Great Scott!
Do you mean that being a fundie may not be a good predictor of whether or not your children will or will not engage in activities that fundies claim to believe are totally damning?
Freakshow!
Would that be the Rethug theology being practiced by all the undead I saw at the FNC this week?
heh..no, I was trying to differentiate..as in YOUR womb vs. someone else’s womb.
True comparing Rove to slime mold or botulinum bacterium would be an insult to unicellular organisms.
When Rove looks up, he sees the floor. But just barely.
It should keep *anyone* (with two brain cells to rub together) wide awake ’til November. :-(
Protists protest!
Lower than whale shit.
i was named for my mother’s aunt sue – who went around telling everyone my mom had to marry that sailor. they were married january 53 and i was the firstborn in october 54. my mom wanted to make sure her aunt sue knew when my birthday was (wicked grin)
He has to look up to look down that Rovian POS
Now that would be fascinating to see, Jo Fish with a womb…! ;-)
Social services would call ….. and bring the kid around…. and I was a goner…. my co-workers would tease me ….. ya know they are like eating potato chips…. ya can’t have just one……
One summer I took care of a lovely 4 year old girl whose father was severely injured car v. bike and was in a body cast and his wife was working full time to keep the insurance….. she attended hospital staff meetings with me…. they thought I had adopted another one….. They were my crop…. they were the things I grew…. nurtured and tried to heal the hurt that this world does to your most vulnerable citizens…
Actually in my experience, and I grew up around them, being a fundie is usually a solid indicator of a much larger probability of out of wedlock births, adultery, wife beating, and just about everything else they claim to abhor.
POS’s protest this grotesque insult!
See, that’s what I love about liberal blogs, it takes an advanced degree just to understand the insults. Elitism rocks!
Yep.
Yep, my wife had to marry that soldier…! *g*
Frank Rich must be reading us…the title of this piece is “Palin and McCain’s Shotgun Marriage “
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09…..ref=slogin
Come to think of it, I have never heard a fundie come out against wife beating. :) Truly.
So did my mother…… Dad was recovering from injuries from the battle on Tarawa and “picked up” my mother on a train going from Santa Cruz and SF….. they were married 3 weeks later and on September 9th…. will have been married 64 years….
As Suzanne will note…. once my Mom met him….. she was a goner….
and him her :)
Actually, that one they overtly encourage. (No snark).
Sometimes Sarah can’t finish her banana and the condom keeps the uneaten portion nice and fresh for later.
That is so cool. Good for them. Wishing them many more.

Quarter wrappers for the frugal Palin family.
Yep. My sympathies.
Mine too. Wonder if there are any studies about that. My guess would be that income/class/education has more to do with out of wedlock births than religious affiliation.
I’ve got a long ways to go for that, although, next month makes 18 yrs…! ;-)
thanks nahant. I have been away from the screen myself.
And had the good sense not to go there again. *g*
Just on NPR headlines – Freddie Mae and Fanny Mae bailout announcement could come tomorrow. Cost to us taxpayers – $25B.
Our good, God fearing, dumber than a box of rocks, Republican former governor (Judy Martz) once said that her husband had never hit her because she had never given him a reason to do so.
Love ya, katymine!
Kiss up, kick down… same as in politics, business, organized crime, etc..
Freddie Mac. Sheesh.
Life happens!
yeap, i learned i live very well alone, thank you very much :)
I think so. I don’t think I have any studies on the effects of religious affiliation on those kinds of things, though some have shown that they are higher in states with more fundies.
Sweet!!
Is within reason a clown car link? Cuz if it is, I’m not clicking on it.
Great post, oh virile, fertile and fecund Thers!
Bare minimum. Probably several times that.
I bet when all is said and done it will be more like 250 billion of our money!
tis a link to watertiger teddy
Damn. There goes the Mars project.
My brother and sis-in-law will be celebrating 27 years next month. Shotgun.
Most importantly, we believe that women make better decisions than the government on this issue. Now if you *really* want to stop ‘killing babies’ than you’ll fully fund prenatal care.
Hey, Teddy! How ya doing? OT, but I just became the faculty sponsor for the Lambda Alliance. Not exactly sure why they asked me, but I am glad to do it.
Clown car?

I suggest they start taking it out of Phil Gramm’s assets first, then Greenspan, right back down the food chain that promoted and profited from deregulation.
I threatened baby boy (he house & dog sat) with near death if he tapped into my wine cellar when I was in Europe…. from what I could tell…. it seemed intact….. tonight I found out I should of stipulated ALL booze….. found several bottles of port with just a little drop in the bottom of the bottles…… PORT….. gee wiz….. and none of the cheap stuff either….
i’ve had a sweet spot for the llamda’s since this
excellent idea!!
Bondad over at Kos put the figure at 1.5 BILLION…. each….. fudging teh numbers is a repug trick
In biology & demography, fecundity refers to realized fertility (i.e., actually having offspring).
Yah, like I say, mine too, but there should be studies… not my area, though.
Being REALLY lazy, I think I’d rather watch TV.
How’d you know! It goes to watertiger. But she is of course always nothing if not tasteful.

Rebublicans don’t belong to a political party, they belong to a cult.
They worship Mammon.
Damn things spit AND bite. Nicest thing is they provide the fleas and ticks to infest the crotches of neocons and other ne’er-do-wells, like Rethug political candidates.
And Margot and Suzanne … I guess we are all just DFH.
It could be even worse….. Fannie and Freddie Bail-Out
So are we on the fence for the whole $5 TRILLION?
my experience has been that they tend to make themselves feel better about themselves by making some one else worse in comparison.
power is their idol – gold is their graven image
Late to the party, took awhile to wade through all those links. It is amazing how a rightard blogger will pick out a sentence, completely reinvent what was written and then shriek how the entire left believes in the shit (s)he just totally made up. If it grows legs it makes it to Drudge, which is the homepage of the Republican sales staff–the Corporate media.
And so it goes…
Yep. Though in all likelihood we will not have to eat most of that. Delinquency and foreclosure rates are quite high, but still less than 10% of all mortgages. If the economy gets any worse or the meltdown in the financial markets get significantly worse, those rates could well go up significantly..
There have been psychological studies that have been done on the “conservative” mind and the research does not paint a particularly complimentary picture of the inner workings. Very fearful people.
It is a rather dishonest way of bragging about oneself, isn’t it.
I don’t think so. Many of those mortgages are years old and are good. It’s primarily the mortgages written since the industry started their greedfest.
Some info on one of the McSame’s son’s. We don’t hear abt them much.

That’s not a bug, it’s a feature. Privatize the profits and socialize the losses. Sweet gig. Meanwhile, get a bunch of slack-jawed, terra cotta toothed, knuckle draggers to vote for your party by complaining about the damm gubmint.
From what I have been seeing, even some of the better mortgages are getting a bit shakey given the weak economy and lousy employment situation. However, even among the newer loans, the vast majority are currently solid. The figures I have seen say that delinquencies and foreclosures are running about 9-10% of all mortgages.
Yep. And have them cut your taxes while you are at it.
I don’t imagine 4 months is an awful lot of time to do anything.
Everyone complains about the corporate media but little is done to check their influence. AAR is helps but doesn’t reach very many people. The stations in Michigan have very low signal strength and you almost have to be on top of the station to pick it up. Good journalism is being done in isolated publications and certainly there are positive developments with the internet. Unfortunately most Americans still get their “information” from the corporate media. I think everyone here is well aware of the utter indifference and ignorance of the “general public.” In the approach of the MSM a lie carries as much weight as the truth. That’s their idea of fair and balanced. I keep having this recurring thought that the MSM is going to give the election to McCain, along with voter suppression and Diebold.
Hi Chris, Suz, all you guys.
Now if Obama relative or Biden’s son was involved…. it would be 24/7 blah blah blah

If people don’t think Vice President Palin will know the 25th amendment procedures backwards and forwards on January 21, 2009, and will be ready to use it at the first sign of McCain’s decline, they haven’t studied Sarah Palin’s remarkable upward career, consisting mainly of disposing of people who help her achieve her next level.
McCain will need a food taster, and I don’t think that will help. Wait until he calls her Meghan or Bridgett in a Cabinet meeting — she’ll have Speaker Pelosi and Robert Byrd in the Oval Office faster than you can say Caribou Stew.
It doesn’t take long for a good mortgage to go sour if the middle-class homeowner loses his/her job. In the last few months 28 of our tenants have lost their jobs. These are all working class folks. Owners have been reducing the rent on vacant properties and owners of properties where tenants have been for some time have lowered rents in order to stave off a vacancy in a stagnant market.
Frank Ricn said…”Palin is a high-energy distraction from the top of the ticket, even if the provenance of her stardom is in itself a reflection of exactly what’s frightening about the top of the ticket.”

I was totally caught up in watching the film “waking the dead” and didn’t look at LN until midnight. Took forever to catch up — great “crack” tonight.

Put their brain in a thimble and it would roll around like a bb in a boxcar.
Well the beebee is a lot bigger than their brains.
I thought this very thing, jumping out from behind doors screaming boo and shit.
in comparison to that other location for their male brains, its forking huge
Ouch!
What hit me today was the thought of Palin and first dood holding forth at a State dinner for heads of state from around the world…… and I can’t put the picture together…… because the snow machines and moose don’t fit into the picture…

What they don’t seem to understand, at all, is that if the government can tell you that you have to keep any baby, the government can just as easily tell you to get rid of any baby. Once you give the government control over the uterus, it’s up to the government to decide how to exercise that control.

With more than five trillion dollars in mortgages? Yeah, maybe twenty-five billion will cover the first quarterly cash-in. Notice that they aren’t announcing how much it will cost overall, since no one really knows. And they are just going to shovel money in, every quarter.
I wonder if they will honor the executive suite’s golden parachutes?
Wow, that’s great news! They couldn’t have picked a better guy. Congratulations. How many are in the Alliance?
Of course they will, you silly boy. Those poor tormented souls have already been punished enough by knowledge of their failure and the public humiliation of losing their jobs.
Creatures that come out of uteruses are citizens. We need to control access to citizenship. We build physical fences at our borders, and legal fences at our uteruses. Producing additional citizens is a privilege, not a right. (Sigh!)

Not sure, I will have to check. My impression is that there are quite a few. They are pretty active, though not very activist. A number of the members have been students of mine over the years.

“Yes, Grampa President?”
(You know Shrub has nothing on her in the nickname department)
Every time you masturbate, the baby jeebus cries.
Get down off that chair, woman! Like to frighten the horses, you are….
And, if they’d really and truly been fully deregulated, and the unseen hand had been allowed to balance and optimize the relationship between supply and demand, then by definition none of this would have happened. The economic crisis is yet another reminder of the need to get the government out of the business of business and to unleash the miracle of free enterprise. (Sigh!)
The thing I don’t quite get is that we have quite a few out faculty on campus and I don’t quite understand why one of them is not doing it (if I was gay, it is something I would want to do). Apparently this has been the case in the past as well, as one of my colleagues was the sponsor for several years many years ago.
cartoon upstairs, make sure ya have on your dfh jammies and bring popcorn
Bedtime for me. Take care and enjoy the snark and cartoons.
So the question is…bikini or Brazilian?
gee, thanks ;)
The MSM is already picking up, carrying and disseminating (pun intended) the entire false narrative – decisions are different from choices. Palin exercised a decision to keep her Downs baby. She is a hero for doing so.
As Palin is a dedicated proponent of forced births she either:
a.)refused to acknowlege that she had a choice even though she did have a choice or she
b.) knowingly exercised her right to choose (she made the choice to have the baby) as she seeks to deny others the same opportunity to make a choice.
Rove: lower thank a duck’s instep.
I really like that one.
Anyone outside the Good Ol Boy Club is a “real” criminal distinguishing them from the Reperps.
the interesting thing about all of this is the current size of the national debt ($10.6 trillion). If the Government put itself on the hook, for say $2.4 trillion of this debt, then the national debt would be $13 trillion.
The fun part is that interest has to be paid on the national debt, and every so often it has to be refinanced, and it gets sold at Treasury auctions – so the effective interest rate goes up as the price paid goes down. Currently, the total personal, income, and payroll tax take for the FedGov is about $1.5 trillion. Payroll taxes go for Social Security and Medicare – supposedly into “trust funds” but the money actually goes into the General Fund, and Congress does annual appropriations for these programs.
Payroll taxes account for about $500 billion, so total personal and corporate income taxes bring in $1 trillion. Right now, the interest paid out on the national debt is around 3.5%. It’s possible for that rate to increase, and quickly: in 1980, the interest on the national debt came to about 12%. 12% of $10.6 trillion is about $1.3 trillion. Spending in 2007 came to about $1.8 trillion, leading to about a $300 billion deficit. Suppose in 2008 spending is $1.8 trillion again, and in 2009 it is the same, and personal and corporate income tax revenues remain the same and do not decrease (which might not be the case in a recession, but…). So we have $1.8 trillion in spending, roughly $500 billion military, $800 billion for entitlements (Social Security, Medicare), $400 billion in interest, and $100 billion for the rest of the government in 2008.
Now, if the $400 billion in interest increases by $900 billion, the extra money has to come from somewhere.
1. Add it to the national debt, and the national debt increases to $14 trillion, if you add in the cost of the bailout of the mortgage bankers… So if you do that, you put off default on sovereign debt of the US for 1 or maybe 2 years.
2. You could cut Social Security and Medicare in half, and kill the Military budget, and you wouldn’t have to borrow any more money… but the consequences would probably be unpleasant in a number of ways.
3. Finally, you could double personal and corporate income taxes, and increase the eligibility age on Social Security and Medicare to, say, 75, and that would fix things. For now.
Suddenly, it’s kind of obvious why police officers from all over the country have come to St Paul to train…
Well, of course all pregnant women will be dragged from their homes and forced to abort. But after awhile, when we have all been forced into gay marriage, that should eliminate the need to get rid of all the Fetus-Americans.
It’s pointless to use logic or try to have a rational discussion with the Palins of the world. So we should just make up fantastic lies that contradict each other and watch them try to make sense of it for a change.
