Special get off my lawn edition.
- McSame used the word "change" 10 times in his speech -- and mentioned Bush zero times.
- He did, however, mention that he was a POW.
- HuffPo has video reax of McSame's
eulogyspeech. - Why was McSame standing in front of a junior high in North Hollywood?
- This can't be right -- Republicans exploited 9/11?
- Troopergate won't go away.
- It's like Palin's trying to set a record or something.

Good Morning, Blue Tex!
Was Mac insipid or what? I get sleepy just thinking about that speech!
I feel for everyone who drank every time they heard ‘POW’, ‘My friends’ & ‘My good friends’ last night. Heads must be throbbing out of control. Of course, just listening sober had the same effect.
“I know some of you have been left behind in the changing economy, and
it often sees that your government hasn’t even noticed. Government
assistance for the unemployed workers was designed for the economy of
the 1950s. That’s going to change on my watch.”
Will the MSM be on him this a.m. for threatening to end unemployment insurance?
and here’s a useful graphic from the times this am

mornin from the boonies
I listened to the Rays beat the Yankees last night. Turned on PBS on da radio and there it was. Grrrrrrr. The Lake was down so I read until midnight. Just the snippets I’ve heard this morning told me I made the right decision. Yepper. Short version: “We’re gonna bring change to Washington with the same people who’ve brought you the last 8 years.”
Expectations. Reminded me of a young student I tutored once. A great lesson in expectations.
Can’t. Stop. Laughing.
BT: thanks for putting that video up there.
“Because John Bush is his own man.”
We really can’t think this stuff up.
911 + POW = republican twofer, both reflecting failures in carrying out one’s duties.
Would you care to explain how a POW has failed in carrying out his/her duties?
I learned something about Pit Bulls. They are banned in at least twelve countries and there are a number of countries with Breed-specific legislation. Israel bans the breeding of Pit Bulls.
So far, adding lipstick to a Pit Bull has not changed these country bans or any breed specific legislation.
There are a number of countries and areas in the United States that have “muzzled and leashed in public” laws as well as “must be surgically neutered” laws.
I say, let the Pit Bull analogy stand.
I mean, since the shoe fits…
McCain really ought to be ashamed of himself the way he’s playing the POW card. My uncle never talked about his experience as a POW and would blow it off if asked about it. I suspect most are the same way and i suspect McCain was the same way until pretty recently. I mean, I’m sure he’s used it as long as he’s been in politics and that’s Ok. That’s who he is. But the extent to which he did it last night was shameful. That’s one desperate politician. But last night was shameful. And a concession that he got nuthin’. Speech was horrible and shameful. And generally well received in the media.
here’s a particularly spot on (IMHO) piece from judith warner on the cynicism of the palin pick. A little red meat for the ladies tired of the tea sandwich fare of MSM.
http://www.nytimes.com/interac.....APHIC.html
Did I say it was shameful ?
My local news said that John McCain gave a good speech but not as good as Sarah Palin. Reading between the lines, it was obvious that his speech was less than inspiring. For the first time this week, I put on MSNBC.
ever wonder what percentage of vets support mccain? i bet it’s not as high as folks think. He’s a braggart with a falsely modest smirk.
OMFG.
it sure is the main building over @ Walter Reed Middle School!! My daughter used to have a friend when she was 10 or 11 that lived in that area. Drove by it many a time then. The yard of the school fronts on Colfax Ave.- the old main building in the pic on Irvine Ave…
Hasty use of Teh Google trying to come up w/a pic of Walter Reed Med Center? That’d make McSame’s boys & girls look like real amateurs, wouldn’t it.
Hilarious, unless the Repubs come up w/a likely explanation.
I’m thinking not too likely.
Think it will ever be mentioned in the corporate media?
McCain supports education. Um, that was the point. Um, it was supposed to be there. Um, John McCain picked it himself. Um, um, one of the prisoners he was with in Vietnam went there. Um…….. are you laughing at a POW, you typical liberal.
Doubtful, but I’m emailing it to both the LA Times & the Daily News (San Fernando Valley-based paper) right now.
Almost forget Burbank-based KNBC- next email from me.
I wouldn’t count too much on that. . . unfortunately.
Great idea, but I don’t believe that the Republicans mentioned “9/11″ only two times, i.e., half as many times as the democrats. That’s simply absurd.
It’s a good thing his speech didn’t have occasion to mention Howard E. Butts, of the HEB grocery store chain.
OK, I just emailed all the local tv stations & the papers I could think of right off the top. We’ll see if they pick up on this or shine it on.
Agreed. We are, I think, in the minority.
That would reflect negatively on his ability to assemble and lead a competent staff and hence on his readiness to serve as Commander in Chief.
I’m not sure inept is the right word to use for McCain’s lame campaign
Thanks for linking to Judith Warner, I had already read it and Warner’s message is powerful. Thanks again for making the pups aware of it. The repubs care more about my vag**a than they do my pocketbook. (I do not find the word vag**a offensive, I just didn’t want to wake up the mods. Can we say that here?)
I used to not think so. At the 10th Anniversary of the Wall Rocky Blier gave a speech saying, essentially, “no matter what our feelings were about the war, we are all brothers (and sisters)”. That shit ended with the swifties.
Why do we not hear the Noonan/Murphy quotes played over and over on the networks the way we heard Jesse Jackson mumble under his breath about Obama? I know it’s rhetorical but have to ask!!
Bleier
That was a real eye opener. Really blindsided me, particularly when I knew some of those guys. Put me on a real roller coaster ride.
I had low expectations and he didnt meet them. But the films. His biography and the shameless button-pusher with the graphic violence and images of 9/11 were criminal, even by the GOP standards.
Because the Mc Cain campaign has scared the “media”
In “listening” to the speech, I perked up a little when he mentioned increasing Russian beligerance and Georgia. I wanted to see if he was going to say what he actually proposed to do about it. He didn’t. He just implied that he would somehow “help” Georgia and dropped it. I hope Obama and Biden really push McCain for what his swaggering really means.
Can I march in your parade too?
I’m wondering why the NYT headline isn’t: Confused old man pops party balloon.
I have to say that on that day I went up to Kerry after the ceremony and introduced myself and said “I was here with you in 1971″. He wanted NOTHING to do with talking to me.
You betch ‘um, Red Ryder.
My 38 was for you.
Just how many does it take to make a conspiracy (a la Alice’s Restaurant)?
I don’t understand, or perhaps don’t want to understand, what happened to Kerry.
Always took you for a 9mm guy.
They can’t because they belatedly joined him in blaming Russia and threatening (somewhat less beligerently) to “do something about it.”
I saw that too. Thought for a minute I had missed a serious argument.

Never. If it ain’t a point four five (as the British say), it’s worthless.
The most honest moment at last nights largest cult fest was when ABC showed someone high in the rafters holding a sign that said “McCain Votes Against Vets”. They pulled away when it was obvious what the sign said. It would have been an excellent teaching moment had ABC commentators explained the meaning of the sign to their audience but then their commentators are not their to educate the public but rather keep them in the dark.
Yea, if you are gonna beat someone on the head with it! Now, hitting them from more than 15 ft???
Let the fun begin. Sarah Palin campaigning on her own. Questions for her anyone?
The NY Times’ editorial asks who the real John McCain is. Here’s my answer.
Have been pushing that one at the Lake since early morning…….probably the best analysis of the palin business that we’re gonna see in the next two months. Need to go back and see what comments have been added; if most of the women the republics thought they were gonna pick off with the palin selection feel the same, that’s *one* category of votes they can scratch off the list. Don’t think they really wanted them anyway; they were only concerned about revvin’ up the fundies.
Ah, you’re used to those old military issue weapons where the slide is so loose ya think it’ll fall right off the frame if ya shake it too hard. Get a match quality Colt and it’s good for 50 feet. Bottom line, though, I don’t ever want to get in a firefight with a sidearm again.
Just how many does it take to make a conspiracy (a la Alice’s Restaurant)?
Three, iirc. gotta do it in harmony, ya know.
(2’s not enough, because “they’d think they was both fa**ots”))
taxing my Alice’s Restaurant memory - used to have the whole thing memorized, but some of the details are gettin’ away from me… *g*
We’re gonna get kicked outa here.
For useless the Irish say the person couldn’t drain water from a welly reading the instructions on the heel, a little longer than “maverick” (*ducking*) but as apropos.
*g*
Haven’t you heard the news? The pit bull will be caged for the next two months……briefing book training, don’ya know? s/
I saw that and was disappointed, but they only indicated “helping to rebuild” Georgia. I think they’ve still got latitude to call for specifics on some of his Bush mouth; even the condescending statements last night about “knowing what it takes to win wars” and “understanding how the world works.”
Christy’s up
We use “pour piss from a boot with directions on the heel.”
Am having a senior moment for what one was.
Two was a movement, or was that a conspiracy?
If two was a conspiracy, then three was a movement?
I think I will have to revisit Alice’s Restaurant
Steven Colbert must have paid-off the producer of the RNC slide show that resulted in McCain’s second round of Green Screen Productions.
This is going to be fun!

MSNBC interview saying Lie-berman coaching Sarah Palin.
Joe Lie-berman. Quisling or Goldschlag? You decide….
If she does not get out there quickly, it makes it painfully clear to voters and the media that she IS Not ready to take on being a Veep, ready to fill the presidency if needed.
There was no constitutionally mandated war therefore it was a corporate bloodbath for profit.
Just following orders doesn’t cut it with me.
