My principal takeaway from that is that the only option left the Republican Party at this point is identity politics. Nativism, sectarianism, localism, tribalism, racism. That is THE ONLY EFFECTIVE MESSAGE THEY HAVE LEFT.

As we both know, the Republican Party excels at staying on-message.

So don’t be surprised if the racism gets even more obvious and blatant as the campaign wears on.
