I think they are going for deep down feelings as well. It will mix good with fear (econ, arrest) and conflict (another war, draft) as well. There is also the aspect of keeping all the crimes hidden and keeping the money in the club and setting the club rules.

Wow, she talked for 40 minutes and according to MSNBC, she was attacking Obama nearly as much of the time as she was explaining her “experience”. So much for the introduction.

I think a big problem with the speech is that she repeated some lies, that have already been shown to be lies, and rafts of additional evidence will be arriving lately.

That will cause problems. With the media GOP seems to think that they can start open intimidation and tants, and tough it out. They are like the crazy bad daddy, drunk and cranked up, ordering the family to do the impossible, or ELSE!

Probably a lot in the media would like to play along -I think that most of them through ideology or cowardice or self-interest would like to. But this is becoming like a criminal gang initiation. I disagree with the pundits about this speech. I thought tone was wrong. For an introductory speech there was way too much smirk and mockery.

She simply doesn’t have the standing to come into our homes and talk smack.

So, you think Obama & Biden ought to come out and call her a whore or a slut or something really nasty? That would certainly make the presidential race about something less than it really is.

We can be civil and must be civil because our Democracy demands a large dose of that — the alternative is to toss Democracy and just kill people.

Okay then, let’s look at her speech and see just what there is to fight. Hmmm, not much there except some lies and some cheer-leading rah rah stuff for the convention.

Perhaps they intended the speech to be a puff ball that can’t really be opposed. Of course, that also shows they STILL don’t have anything to offer America. There’s idealism in terms of basic patriotism, but not in terms of how to fix up America’s problems and to make it better for everyone. There’s talk of McCain being the only candidate who has truly fought for America, but no talk of how he loves the military and wants to keep us in Iraq forever. There’s some talk of Palin takin’ on the oil companies, but nothing about how Alaska receives 80% of it’s revenues from oil and how the national Republicans have been oil men for 30 years.

Yep, lots of puff balls and no substance on the positive side and lots of lies and hypocrisy and a Republican record they aren’t able to walk away from.

The American public has plenty of reason to walk away from the Republican side for a while and this doesn’t even bring in the Bush legacy and John McCain’s support of that.
