Haven’t heard too much about the edumacation of Miss Sarah Heath.
She hopped around from school to school- Hawaii for a semester, then on to North Idaho College and finally she got a BS in communications-journalism from Univ of Idaho. Not sure why she left the first 2 schools, who paid for her education or how well she did. But no way does her educational resume stack up to Obama’s. And considering that McCain was near the bottom of his class, well, no wonder they are throwing the word “elitist” around.

I refuse to see the GOP as being anything but very, very dangerous. Others may pity them and see them as pathetic. Far too often, I’ve seen Democrats get overly confident and condescending, only to have their ass handed to them on election day.

IMHO, Sarah Palin’s speech was many times better than Biden’s — better in the sense of attracting undecided voters and in discrediting the opposition. In fact, in that sense, it may have been the best speech of the conventions so far.

So far I have not seen anyone launch an effective attack on John McCain’s qualifications to be commander in chief. Obama says that McCain voted for the Iraq war, and McCain comes back that the Iraq war is about to turn into a glorious victory for the United States of America and freedom-loving people throughout the world. The Democrats so far seem to have no serious comeback.

I see you found one of the ways to do it – Alt + 0153 works to, at least in some character sets and/or fonts. With the Character map you can find and use many symbols, foreign letters (i.e. Greek, Cyrillic, copyright, registered etc.) and there find the shortcut key (i.e Alt + 0153)

To find the character map, (it doesn’t matter which browser you are using and it works in text editors and word processors also) go to the start button (lower left corner of the taskbar) go to Programs>Accessories>System Tools in XP at least. It is part of Windows itself and was in all Windows I’m familiar with since at least 3.1.

The Kuwait (or elsewhere) stage often gets left out when talking about a deployment, even by family members, but Palin of all people surely knew the troops whose deployment to Iraq she referenced would not be going directly there. The 9/11 mention was intended to create in listeners a mental association with the attacks of 9/11/01, I dare say.

Not all of us who have a significant other being deployed in proximate time and location to candidate Palin’s son (nothing against him) are assured that everything is hunky-dory.
