here’s your coke, CTut….
Hey Suzanne! Glad you’re back!
That extra exclamation mark cost ya, bud! 8-P
Thanks Suzanne….. Gustav….. is how 900 miles wide….. which is 400 miles bigger than Katrina…… HOLY Sh*t……
i figured the st paul hotels could use some additional training being as they are gonna have rethuglicans staying there for the convention.
What an appropriate title.
Ahem, Ya know who ya are, my apologies.
boing boing flying forward one-and-a-half somersaults, pike position, no splash (’natch)
g’evening pups – how ya’ll doing tonight?
Love the old Daffy!
i figured the st paul hotels could use some additional training being as they are gonna have rethuglicans staying there for the convention.
I hereby volunteer to coat every Republican delegate with bug spray from head to – nah, just in the face.
Is that a record?
waving good night to everyone….I am still exhausted…. Nite everyone
Good thing the Olympics are over and the Bulgarian is back in Bulgaria…! ;-)
Aloha, Katy!
Glad you’re here, Suz.;) Hi all!
g’nite katymine
Gnite katymine.
Nite Katymine
Waving, too. Way past my bedtime. Hate to leave this bunch. G’night
Heh, Alegre finally put her foot down on the issue of people using her PUMA site to advocate for McPOW. Glad to see a little sanity returning to that neck of the woods.
convention is over, d’s are starting to settle down and gear up for the fight for november.
Gnite RevBev
g’nite revbev
We’ll see, she’s still not planning to vote for Obama, but telling the McPOW fans to shut the fuck up is certainly a positive development.
Aloha Rev!
yeap – baby steps but steps forward
So let me get this straight McCain wants to cancel his own convention to play storm chasers with his new VP?
To bad Sarah is a creationists someone should explain to her the Darwinian concept of Natural selection before its to late.
Nite RevBev
If I were him, I’d want to skip it.
and we are supposed to trust his judgement…
Oh, but think of the potential for photo ops. McCain’s got some real classics so far, hugging Bush, the birthday cake while New Orleans flooded, the market in Baghdad. Just imagine the potential!
It’s just like the assholes who voted for Nader, do they still think that was a good choice? Look how that turned out.
My take is someone actually had their head out and realized what a PR disaster was staring them in the face.
Twofer for Stupie. Wherever this one hits is going to get pounded.
To bad Sarah is a creationists someone should explain to her the Darwinian concept of Natural selection before its to late.
Besides, everybody knows you can’t get properly Raptured from a helicopter seat.
I heard rumors in the Iraqi blogs that Shrub is headed there for a face-to-face with Maliki…
Man tells wife to enter “Hot Body” contest, she does it, then he punches her in the face. Of course it happened in Florida.
Wherever this one hits is going to get pounded.
Well, if I lived down that way, I’d sure feel a lot better knowing that Georgie, McCrazy, and Sarah Van Palin are on the way…
the split screen tv showing all the gop party with images of yet another american city drowning
they want to avoid that
Just home from the Alaska State Fair with Ms. ET. We manned and womaned the Alaska Democrats booth for six hours and then took around a recyclying cart for four more. A spectacularly beautiful day.
I wanted to be able to be here at fdl when my
EagletonPalin post went up, but the internet there sucked humongously. And that fuckhead’s actually running again. Hopefully the idiots who voted for him in 2000 learned their lesson, and there aren’t too many new ones who will heed his call.
hey et
It was great, ET! Nice work, here and there…!
McCheese and Palin set politics aside to “provide leadership in this time of danger.”
Imagine the ads they will run – The Dems partied, but we stood up for the drowned…
One reasom Gustav is so filled with energy is a piece of the Gulf Stream broke of into the Gulf of Mexico. That is a major change! 900 miles wide with two more days in that ultra warm water. Too bad the National Guards aren’t guarding us. Evening Suz. Did you and Nahant get to read all the links in Dr. Murphy’s post?
Yay for dumbass criminals!
But that’s not the end of his stupidity.
i was busy backstage and didn’t get a chance to read them all bb.
ET, that bright light you see is not the Northern lights, it is the reflection off my bald head. Kudos dude.
Labor day we start walking nieghborhood for Obama/Biden and the rest of the Dems. After picnic of course.
I am sure that is the plan, but FEMA is not ready this could be a disaster and they got front row seats.
Just dropping in, without reading — did you Palin post today? Hi ET, we really want to hear your opinion. Just back from dinner party with lots of Dem opinions.
one fly has a post up about labor day that ya’ll need to read.
The models show it starting to track closer to New Orleans that it was earlier today.
The Dems partied, but we stood up for the drowned…
Since there really isn’t a damned thing that *any* of the candidates can do to help *before* the storm hits, and since no one at this point is sure *where* it will hit – what’s the point?
Should McLame travel to Mississippi and then look stupid when the storm hits Texas?
Should Obama?
Upgraded to a Category Four this morning and at least two more days to gather strength before it hits. Run for your fucking life!
Precisely. Either compete with the Democratic convention and the acclaim that came with it, or change the subject and try to portray the Dems as… more interested in politics than ‘A’merkans.’
Spent 5 hours doing just that today. It went even better than any of us could have predicted. Collectively we got 13 to flip.
baby girl is thinking about voting for obama – she voted for mccain in the utah primary.
she really liked what she heard him say in his acceptance speech and finally figured out the lies about him where just that – lies.
That was a great post, not only did I link to it, I called him and told him that.
Oh Suzanne,
That is so, so great. Keep up the good work. And I loved the acceptance speech (and the whole last day) at the convention.
Does McCain really want to be near New Orleans when Jeb Bush’s water pumps fail, does Bush?
http://www.democraticundergrou…..id=2766227
We got alot of that today, people are finally paying attention. There is such a difference in what senator McCain was for and what Candidate McCrazy now supports. Obama’s speech was truly amazing and inspiring.
i thought boosh was headed to talk to maliki to avoid the gop convention
McCheese and Palin set politics aside to “provide leadership in this time of danger.”Imagine the ads they will run – The Dems partied, but we stood up for the drowned…
They’re blessed. The ultimate do-over.
Run for your fucking life!
literally – especially if it hits New Orleans.
The SuperDome isn’t gonna be open for
businesslife-saving this time…and that was before the palin announcement…
imagine how many people will get pulled away from their vitally needed duties to be background stage props for the photo ops – just like boosh did with the firefighters after katrina.
Wow! How do you feel about this VP pick of McInsane?
Even my neo-con twin brother laughed out loud at the Palin choice……”All the vaginas voting….well isn’t that what you women wanted?”
Gooper Senators and Critters have ’scheduling conflicts’ during the party’s convention?
They want no part of this fiasco, and now, since the Democrats have shown a new and impossibly original format…
makes me think of the power of the p***y and how it can help reeducate backward thinking males ….
i thought boosh was headed to talk to maliki to avoid the gop convention
I’m confused too. Is he going south to magically save the entire region from Gustav, or is he heading to Iraq to explain to Maliki what he (Maliki) *really* thinks.
One way or the other, though, it looks like the Repubs have got Georgie right where they want him – far, far away….
68 is for Suz at 66

GOP’s suing to keep Bob Barr off the ballot in PA.
As am I.
What’s on my mind? Ther possibility of a person one heartbeat away – when the heartbeat belongs to a 73 year old with cancer – who is 2 years removed from the town council of Moosecock,. Alaska. That spooks my mind. What’s on my mind? Sarah Palin.
Sorry,
Commented above, then had to answer the day’s accumulatd e-mails. I spent almost 3 and 1/2 hours on the phone today with outside-of-Alaska reporters interested in Palin’s “troopergate” investigation.
Bush never announces when he is going to Iraq because it would be a green light to the terrorists. Unless Bush is now expendable?
Geez, no kidding. Gustav could be a gift for the republicans. IGNORE THE CONVENTION.
And, of course, we all calling for you ET — Tell us what you think!!!
we do have readers in alaska, bf – in fact, et did a front page post today over at the silo from his alaska-based perspective.
If it weren’t a hurricane, it would have been something else.
But they need very badly NOT to show themselves all together in one place.
my wife isn’t bnig on politics at all. belongs to the “their all the same” school and thinks anybody who believes Obama is any different than McCain is nuts. She’s been pretty rough on Barack. She thought the Palin pick was hilarious. Not the only one.
Republicans love breeders. Even if (and I hope The Enquirer is all over this) the 5th child is maybe a grandchild. I always thought that ”water broke, gotta hope a flight to Alaska” was really strange…..other mothers? — would you have taken a long flight after your water broke? The whole thing was just off the tracks, so to speak.
we ARE all calling…
He can’t run away from this, he is double plus fucked.
Right as the RNC, with all the Jack Booted Thug tactics going on, this is going to screw a lot of people no matter where it hits and he is the one responsible for the response, wherever he is.
His fucking face is going to be all over the news, Katrina Redux.
saw someplace that the 2 biggest papers up there thin k this pick is ridiculous. I’m getting up every day and half expecting I’ll hear either about some Plain scandal or that Palin said something stupid.
Well an excuse maybe nobody was going to watch the GOP convention but now McCain can blame the Hurricane. Still no convention coverage no convention bounce unless McCain can get some good storm chaser footage.
Police work has changed a little…check it out when ya get a little moment or three lptsa links. Raiding protester before they protest…preemtive strikes before a crime is the newbe.
ain’t gonna happen
no how
no way
no mccain bounce
read that. also heard someplace else that her ballhooed (what exactly is a ballhoo?) 80% approval rating is bullshit.
yeap, sure aint like it was when i was doing it… am glad i’m outta the business now
I wanted to go to Mr.CE’s graduation when I was 7 months pregnant. Not one airline would take me.
Still images of McCheese and Sarah leaning over storm charts, on the phones, directing aid and effort… no audio of course.
Video of McCheese and Sarah in casual flannel, furrowed and nearly stricken at the plight of the drowned and displaced.
When you got nothing, you make some shit up. They should be pretty good at it by now.
And, Evangelical women ought to be caring for their husband and children, dontcha think! (Where is Dr. Laura when we need her?) How is Sarah Palin, hockey mom, going to be out campaigning for the next couple of months and then being VP (even if she does not know what a VP does) instead of raising her kids? What’s up with that?
didn’t mcsame send city to georgia?
saw a graphic on FOX –seriously — that the municipal budget of Moosecock doubled or tripled when Palin was mayor. Probably attributable to the town buying new Xmas decorations.
My older son was for Obama, not terribly gung-ho. But after that speech, he got several friends together and made them listen to it online and now they’re all for Obama.
FORK.. the enn ess aaa stole a buncha letters.. that shudda been cindy
Remembering Bush in Jackson Square with his generator and lighting system – packed into the plane and whisked away when he finished with his photo op.
Wonder if the McDuo will be similarly equipped. Craven.
i thought so, too. with a crushed wrist and all. Maybe McCain told her she didn’t need to since they would be campaigning in Georgia soon enough.
Craven is the word. The pick of Sarah Palin rightly pissed off Mittster and Pawlenty and others. Craven.
More effective than Short Ride and LOl, what’s his name, Lindsey?
Aren’t you glad we put you on that “!” diet a long time ago?
The Gov of Louisiana is getting a test the whole state may be flooded, roads and bridges washed out no where to run or hide.
Doesn’t the child at issue with The Immaculate Delivery have the middle name “Van”? Van Palin?
Van Halen, the band, isn’t happy about the music used by McLame to introduce Sarah Van Palin.

hey teddy
Gnite Jayt..
busted, you get your plumbing problems all fixed?
I think my California county has almost as many people as the whole state of Alaska, maybe one of our PTA presidents would be willing to be a candidate for Vice President…..they have probably faced as many administrative tasks as Mrs. Palin.
nite jayt
Nite jayt
Christine,
(Is fdl loading slow for you pups too?)
I wrote about it here earlier today.
Howie has been having a Palin marathon.
And at my place, I’ve added a few thoughts.
When she gets back to Alaska tomorrow from Denver, where she was Alaska’s DNCC convention blogger, Celtic Diva will probably be the most important person to bring this over into Eagleton territory.
And – I need to state this – I don’t subscribe to the growing meme that Trig Palin is Palin’s daugher Bristol’s baby, rather than the governor’s.
I wonder if Palin will make it through the convention, with the news that the McCain campaign has finally sent vetters to Alaska to investigate the WootenGate story. More likely, Alaskans will tell the vetters to Fuck Off, since they will have been telling the media (who arrived today) the story non-stop.
She was a terrible mayor, it sounds like. And the Senate President, also a GOP, sez she’s barely qualified to be Governor, let alone Veep. Alaskans are famously, um, plain-spoken. I expect some other great quotes will hit the papers tomorrow.
Todd’s mom, by the way, thinks she’ll still vote for Obama.
could ya tell what was causing it to load slow et? if it was an ad, do ya know which one?
Dugg it!
Thanks ET!
(whispering… nor do I…) but THANKS for answering me.
But, ET, as a mother, I really did wonder about her hopping a plane when her water broke. This is SO unusual for a 5th time mother. I have a feeling that some boy in Alaska might sell his story to The Enquirer for big bucks. Pictures of Mrs. Palin at the alleged 7 moths pregnant do not fit well with a 5th time mother. But, hey, I’ll cut her some slack……maybe. Just make it make sense.
thanks christine e
hey neuro – recovered from your trip yet? and i don’t understand why, if you had a ticket, you could not get in.
GRRRR. The immediate concern has been dealt with. I’ll leave it at that.
i just wanted to know if i still needed to be wearing my rubbers when i visited your place, dood.
I have to disagree ET something is weird about passing up good hospitals in Texas and Seattle to ride a plane all the way back to Alaska. I am open to other explanations though.
As my dear Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones called us — “Hey Girlfriend!”
My wife says she was just a fucking damn fool, hoping for luck. I don’t know. My water never broke. I did tie my fucking tubes after two kids.
Not that I think it is terribly important, but that I really do ascribe to truth…..why do you feel that Trig is Mrs. Palin’s 5th child? I’ve seen pictures of her at 7 months allegedly pregnant, and, well, not usual. I’m all for family privacy and all, but still. And, really, the very idea of getting on a plane from Texas to Alaska after one’s water has broken is just damned weird…..as I thought at the time. Just weird. And if it was a commercial flight, well doubly weird.
Cough, I don’t think any extra precautions are necessary.
Having died and been brought back to life at Houston’s Texas Medical Center on March 15, 1996, I have to agree about the quality of Texas hospitals.
It is pretty weird.
hey et – so i’ve been trying to figure out what is a good month to come up to visit ya next year.
Because Trig has Downs, and Sarah was in her mid-40s when the baby was born. And this picture.
The more I think and talk about this Palin baby stuff here and elsewhere, the worse I feel about my ingrained notion that family matters are just that.
The Inquirer will be all over this soon enough. In the meantime, I’m leaving the topic to the tabloids and thanking Dog that my family stuff isn’t out there flapping in the breeze, nominee or not.
Mid-May to the solstice, my dear.
why is that the best time, et (but it would allow me to get back in time for the bride’s birthday at the end of june)
Amen Bud.
That is off limits in my opinion, leave the kids and the family out of it. I would most definitely re arrange someones outlook on life if they fucked with my family. Karl Rove should rot in hell for that one alone.
hi suzanne and newtonusr
recovered? yes. and the answer to the other is simple: it was obvious that the Convention substantially overticketed the event, perhaps to ensure that the seats would be full for the TV cameras even if not all ticketholders showed up. I later heard you had to be there hours ahead of time to get a seat for the main event (Hillary Clinton the night I tried to go). I had not known that. I thought a ticket equalled a seat.
I haven’t heard but would be interested to know whether the Obama stadium speech was similarly overticketed and how many people got shut out if it was.
Hey Teddy!
I so agree that the press has been ruthless about family matters. In this case, however, we have an Evangelical, pro-life woman who really isn’t someone I’d like to have as my president. If she has closet issues, I’d just as soon they be outed now rather than later. McCain is old and if this woman happened to fall into the presidency by accident…..and be in charge of making Supreme Court appointments, well, I’d like to know that she is truthful. And we’re not done finding out how she operates. Lordy!
that’s a good question to ask, neuro, when those who attended show up in the comments or on the front page. i don’t know and have no idea where one would look to find out.
http://www.boingboing.net/2007…..llute.html
The Mongolism mentioned above is the old name for Downs Syndrome. Downs is also linked to Petrochemicals and Inbreeding as well as having older parents.
http://www.down-syndrome.org/reports/89/
I think our ticket needs to focus on McCain. Palin is unimportant except as she reveals McCain’s impulsiveness, bad judgment, and recklessness. Country first? I don’t think so, flyboy.
She will spectacularly fuck up really soon, if left on the ticket. I’m not sure her candidacy will survive the week, frankly, especially if McCain’s lawyers are really headed to Alaska.
Then, when the delegates are on their flights home from Saint Paul, having heard him on the satellite feed, he’ll ditch her and pick the man he always wanted to, RGJoe.
And speaking of satellite feed, is there a stupider idea than a format with a built-in feedback delay for someone who is horrible dealing with a crowd? I doubt they — or we — will hear half of what he says.
Ask yourself – If you chose to ‘assume’ your own daughters pregnancy for public consumption, you probably didn’t do it out of any impulse but to preserve your family harmony.
If she did this – if it’s true, I can’t think of a reason why she should have to be ashamed of it. I disagree with her on EVERY issue, but it seems (if true) that she took a bullet for her 16-year-old daughter, and i don’t object to that.
And as I said, the tabloids will have it out there soon enough. They will pay a scrub nurse $150,000 to spill it, and it will be McCheese’s fault for bad staff work, not Governor Palin’s fault.
Per Wiki, 80% of down syndrome babies are born to women under 35. Evidence of the syndrome in teens is unclear.
And if she planned to fake the pregnancy all along, she’d wear a baby bump at some point, like Brie Van Dekamp did on Desperate Housewives.
See, there’s an conspiracy theory for the photos that SHOW and those that DON’T !!
Stop it, you are making me giddy.
If he dumps her for Short ride it is all done.
A woman who thinks other women should give birth to children that were produced by rape or incest has I think given us the green light to look at her record.
Right now I can’t prove squat but this does smell funny. I admit that barring a miracle I don’t expect to prove squat but there is to much to ignore.
I agree. I would do this for my own daughters if they were determined to give birth to a down child. I would, of course, support them should they choose to terminate such an unfortunate teenaged pregnancy. BUT — I really do feel that those who prattle on to the rest of us with their values la-ti-dah ought to own up. Dontcha think? I don’t think I am a mean and nasty person……I just so admire truth and steadfastness. I always did buy into that idea that when you tell the first lie……well, you know.
i had an amnio with my 2nd, i was 34 and the odds of the amnio causing a miscarriage were just about the same as that baby girl would have a genetic defect – iirc, the chart showed the statistical chances rose with the age of the mother – it was ‘even’ at 35. that was 20 years ago so it could be old info
You are probably right Holy Joe will likely be the VP after Sarah retires for health reasons or some such.
The weather is usually best then, and we’re here. This year was the only one we’ve left the state during that time in 35 years, but 2008 was an exception.
i was hoping for hojo
That’s one of many theories bouncing about…
would Joe help McCain with “Lieberman Democrats” more than he would hurt McCain with wingnuts who don’t like Joe’s record on issues where he has voted with Democrats? What would be the net effect? I have no idea.
my contempt for Joe Lieberman knows no bounds.
ok, thanks et. i’m thinking about driving up there
Don’t get me wrong – I think there’s plenty to look at. I’m just not interested in looking at it.
I don’t like or admire this woman’s positions on anything – fiscal policy, women’s privacy rights, guns, energy policy, etc. But, wingnut or not, she made a determination based on her own familial circumstances, probably not dissimilar from what a Progressive Democrat might. Just cause I despise her politics doesn’t mean I want to look into her family laundry bin.
And fwiw, I begrudge no one the right to look harder than me.
I have 3 sisters, and I can see any one of them making the same decision, given a certain set of circumstances.
Some impressions from the Dem Convention
Thanks everyone for your encouragement.
hey eg… still riding the high of ‘being there’ when history was made?
Check out this post from Alaska on Palin. It gives detailed local info and asks “What is McCain thinking?” Its funny too!
http://mudflats.wordpress.com/…..rspective/
eg,
Cool! Great setup.
And as we settle down, I’m pleased to report that my premie twin grandboys are doing well and their mother and dad are settling down from the shock of their early arrival. My baby girl (33 years old…. my sweetie pie) got to hold one of the boys this evening and will get to hold the other one tomorrow. We are all reeling….but we are reeling in the right direction. And they are adorable! They are tiny now, but they have the hands and feet of the young men they will eventually become……6 footers for sure! Pre-eclampsia is a bitch……make sure your own pregnant daughters know what to watch out for.
The net effect will be an Obama victory, possibly a landslide.
No candidate for President can survive the colossal misjudgment of having a Veep candidate leave the ticket, for any reason. Especially if she leaves for bad vetting. America has had eight years of a President who never vetted anyone for a job. We don’t want four more.
It will ruin McCain, regardless of who he picks.
But the entertainment value, and the landslide potential, will both be extraordinarily high.
Unless the GOP can convince McCain to also step aside.
We were there — all of us FDL commenters and writers — when history was being made. It was most gratifying to speak with people in office who have heard of us and want to know what FDL is thinking and doing. Blue America has really changed things…new contact at the DCCC confirms we are on the national radar.
I have no idea either but I do know that Jane has lots of cans of whup ass and Snark to open if its Joe.
Plus as an added benefit allot of old timers we have not seen in a while will come to the Lake as soon as they hear Joe is VP.
Because they know that Jane and Joe do not get along.
Hi Suze! How ya doin? I’m ok this evening.
Interesting site.
And welcome, if appropriate, as I haven’t made your acquaintance.
ET — you are SO making it happen in Alaska. Sometimes the folks behind the scenes have more power and influence than they realize. You were part of putting a pebble in the shoe of Young’s congressional incumbency and inspiring the whole state Democratic Party in ‘06. Take a bow, and then get back to work :)
Please pass along our profound thanks to Diane Benson for being brave to challenge the powers that be in Alaska politics. History will show her to be an astonishing hero. Kudos!
welcome to late nite oldalex – if ya have any questions, please feel free to ask away.
I have DishNetwork satellite TV in Los Angeles and I am surprised to find they have added a new channel, free of charge, identified as ch. 211 RNC 08, and given the title, “Republican Convention Starts 9/1.” The description reads, “Gavel-to-gavel feed from the RNC in Minneapolis, Minnesota.” DishNetwork has placed it between CSPN and CSPN2 on it’s menu. No extra channel was available during the DNC.
I’m wondering if this channel was purchased by the RNC to expand and have some exclusive coverage of the convention in anticipation of the Gustav hurricane taking away from other channels covering the convention in the event Gustav becomes the next Katrina.
OR DIshNetwork is totally in the tank for McCain and I have been giving them my money to support their agenda for the past four years. I think I’m going to give them a phone call on Monday to find out just what the f— is going on. What do you all think and is this RNC channel and is it a nation-wide thing provided to all areas?
oooooh, be sure to let us know, marshen, what ya find out.
Count on it, darlin’. And this time, the tradmed reporting on horrors/incompetence during a disaster is gonna be so tightly controlled, no one but a few DFH’s will have any idea what’s happening. :-(
If that’s where the RNC wants to put their money – broadcasting what will probably the least-watched convention in history – I say head on.
There recently have been accusations that Dish Network has homophobic business practices, as they refuse to add any LGBT programing to their line up, such as the Logo channel and Here! (which are carried by DirecTV and most major cable companies). Dish also apparently backed out of a contract with GTN (Gay Television Network) to carry the channel.[2] [3] [4]
[edit]
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dish_Network
It seems Dish bought some of Rupert old satellite tv companies I’m sure Rupert would only sell them to a like minded person.
Tears to my eyes, egregious. From somebody who cares so much about people as you do, I can’t begin to express my thanks. Meanwhile, we are working.
I was offline all day, and have been catching up. I’m about halfway through today’s Book Salon with Sidney Blumenthal. Wow! What great discussion. I particularly liked this comment by Hugh.
I will let you know, I am dying to find out and curious what if any answer I will receive. I have’nt posted much in a while, I had to take a break. I just got too burned out toward the end of the democratic primary race. I am re-charged now and excited for the Obama-Biden ticket. How lucky this country will be to have these men take us into the future. That is if America makes the right choice in November.
Love the cartoon videos on your late night Suzanne! I hope everyone is happy and well tonight.
Glad to have your voice back, marshen.
And, after all, RG Joe has such a proven record of success as a vice presidential candidate.
He is 0 and 1. Will he make it 0 and 2?
And his performance as a presidential primary candidate was laughable.
thanks, marshen and nice to hear from you again.
I am still liking the one I saw the other day someone credited it to DKos, all I know is I like it, “Rule #1, Don’t fuck with the Hippies”.
LOL!
They used to have a channel called POV, that was about GLBT issues and lifestyle, but i think it is not there now, I have’nt looked for it lately. I mostly watch sports and news.
RGJoe – perpetual second, even in his own party in his home state.
yikes. it is late. nite all.
I have Dish also and, iirc, that channel 211 was kinda used as a “billboard” for announcing the Dem convention but then, during the event, the coverage was actually broadcast on 210. Manipulating the clicker is almost a reflex action now, so that memory may be kerflunk. I do know for sure C-Span used 212 to run what amounted to full-time thug coverage so it’s gonna be interesting to see if they do the same for Dems during the repug convention.
The wonderful thing about subscribing to Dish is that both Link TV and Free Speech TV are available……tho’ both of them have been “off the air” for extended periods of time during the past several weeks. That’s something else you might want to ask if you call…..WTF happened to the satellites that those two channels feed from?
g’nite neuro
Nite
Gnite neuro
you headed off things? if so, g’nite
I’ve had Dish for four years and have been fairly happy with it. They do play a lot of “here today, gone tomorrow” or “free today, pay tomorrow” with some of the channels which gets annoying.
ok, pups, time for me to head out. g’nite all and thanks for hanging out with me tonight.
nite suz
Gnite Suzanne, I hope ya get some decent weather tomorrow.
Can’t remember when I had it installed, but at least that long also. One monetary advantage is that, living between opposite ends of the state, the box in the second house is considered simply being located in another room of the first house, making monthly TV expenses much lower.
Major disadvantage is that it goes out at the hint of a storm. Since I don’t watch sports channels, don’t know if they’re some of the ones you’re describing as “gone tomorrow/pay now”.
Oh foo! I missed Suzanne!
Whoever’s modding, pls. send this to Jane: looks like the Pool Boy may have redeemed himself by carrying water for some upset conservatives.
John Harris and Mike Allen pitched in, too.
I loved this part, the painful truth about McSame’s veep pick:
Yeah. Somebody’s clued in about the iceberg — the massive number of voters they can’t poll because they are cell phone users. They know the polls are skewed. This might be fun after all.
All over it, Rayne. Thanks.
Nice to see you Rayne.
Here is the part I really liked;
I’ve finished with the Book Salon — great stuff — and am checking out the goings-on in the Twin Cities. Ugly shit.

Amendment IV:
Mornin’, Rayne -
After the last eight years, a little “fun” would be a pleasant change.
OTOH, this also from the same article:
Especially after ‘04, I no long underestimate the utter stupidity (and that is not too strong a description) of a large percentage of the American public. :-(
What I am thinking about tonight, among other things like wedding preparations, is the movie, Minority Report. Several threads here and next door at the Wheel House show that we’re rushing pell mell towards turning unbelievable fiction into present reality.
What can one do to halt this headlong rush towards fascism?
I hope that Obama knows the score and wants real change to halt this slide into this Orwellian state.

LM, ya might want to take a gander at this too…
Dontcha just love it…? ;-)
We’ve seen it coming, but it is still unbelieveable when it actually arrives. The question now is what the mainstream media will do with the material that Jane, Glenn and the others have assembled? The claim has been that bloggers don’t dig but simply opinionate on the backs of the “real reporters” in the MSM. Well this time, but the Internet media was on the spot — Jane with her flip cam — as things were taking place and immediately afterward. Will the MSM pretend that none of this ever happened?
How’s your wedding/honeymoon arrangements coming along, Bob?
It’s going to be a long night of video production, but I hope they blast this stuff to every outlet.
This is the most sickening thing I have seen, of all the affronts.
Where did we go?
Down Alice’s wonderland rabbit hole, newt!
Have y’all read modo’s latest icepick?

hehehehe……This one *is* fun. *g*
Finally got the reception place and food under contract.
Wedding is planned for Magic Island, between a coupla palm trees, with Diamond Head in the background, in the late afternoon. Right after the wedding, we plan a few sunset-on-the-beach pictures, with the sun setting over the open ocean.
Most of my fiancee’s family from the Left Coast will be here, but my family back in the Midwest will mostly be tied up with my Mother’s 90th birthday celebration. My youngest bro is planning to come, along with the wife of my middle bro, who is a UCC minister.
I think the main value of a wedding is that if your relationship can survive the process of planning a wedding, the marriage has a chance to be successful. We are sometimes being tested (grin).
Of course, you’re invited!

Sounds like an excellent wedding, reminds me of my mom and step dad’s wedding at the lip of Halemaumau crater in HVNP…! I’m glad I avoided much of the wedding prep myself, Justice of the Peace style wedding! Of course, my wife of 17 going on 18 years wants the whole shebang we missed for a renewal of our vows at 20…!
Here’s a great HD quality video of Sarah Palin, in heels, drinking coffee – purportedly seven months pregnant:

Watch the whole thing and see if you can spot the pregnant woman. Perhaps she was selected over Lieberman for the Israeli flag affixed to her office window (see image on landing page).
The baby was her daughters.
Good morning, pups. It’s MoDo, Kristof, Friedman and Rich today. MoDo titled her
columnfantasy piece “Vice in Go-Go Boots?” She asks us to imagine her delight when the hokey chick flick came out on the campaign trail, a Cinderella story so preposterous it’s hard to believe it’s not premiering on Lifetime. Mr. Kristof, in “Tortured But Not Silenced,” says America needs to stand behind Dr. Halima Bashir, a young Darfuri woman whom the Sudanese authorities have tried to silence by beatings and gang-rape. Mr. Friedman, in a “Postcard From South China,” says the Communist Party in China is trying to break the old mold without breaking its hold by searching for ways to make the economy greener and smarter. Mr. Rich’s column is titled “Obama Outwits the Bloviators.” He says the disconnect between the reality of this campaign and how it is perceived and presented by the mainstream media is now a major part of the year’s story.http://mgpaquin.wordpress.com/
The coffee and tea are ready, and I’ve got eggs Benedict this morning, or eggs Florentine for the vegetarians (or for people like me, who just like eggs Florentine better…) I’m girding my loins preparing for That Other Convention tomorrow, but I feel like a little kid… “Mom, do I have to?” Have a good day.
