Democracy Now reported that US Northern Command is bringing its intel capacities to bear during the conventions.

They’ll be busy, then, since the regime has also militarized response to Hurricane Gustavo:

…the daily brief customarily done in advance of a hurricane is happening because Gustov is bearing down on the Gulf Coast…but a big shift here: the briefing is being given by NORTHCOM. So what does this tell us and why does it matter? It tells us that things are as broken as they were before Katrina.

It’s the COUNTY who is doing these raids- not the feds.

That’s not completely correct:

The show of force was led by the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office in collaboration with the FBI, Minneapolis and St. Paul police, the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies.

One of the notable things in Denver was the lack of badge numbers on law enforcement at protests. Bad news, this. I heard about *that* fun fact from Eileen Clancy of I-Witness on her daily legal updates on Democracy Now during the DNC.

Several people from I-Witness and DN were in this house arrest.
Thx for the reporting Lindsay and all the FDLers. The Uptake has done a great job getting video reports up from the scene.

I just drove From Appla Valley to The uptown Area. In my round trip(heading south around 3pm) I saw at least 7 cops that had pulled cars over. Now it could be coincedence, But I drive for living in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area & I have never seen the city in a lockdown such as this. When arriving on Lyndale, I noticed a ‘paddy Wagon’ (large Cop truck) parked in front of Arize Bookstore, Im sure intimidating them. I walked down that way & they were gone.
ANYWAYS MSP is on Lockdown. Be careful out there!! & lets all show up to peacefully show up to protest the GOP chokehold on this country!!

It gets worse-

http://www.minnesotaindependen.....violations

City requires tenants to fix back door kicked in by police by 6 p.m. today or they will continue with boarding process.) After the police raid this morning at 3240 17th Avenue in South Minneapolis, in which the homeowner, 23-year-old Monica Bicking, and two other people were arrested for “conspiracy to riot,” city inspectors came in at about 11:30 to board up the two-story home. City officials, including Tom Deegan, manager of the city’s problem properties unit, were on hand along with Casterjon, the private contractor in charge with boarding, to close up the home for what Deegan calls “code violations.”
Yet along with being unable to enter her home, Bickling will have another rude awakening when she’s released from jail: The city charges $6,000 to homeowners for boarding up properties. Often these are charges for abandoning properties, a result of the foreclosure crisis. But in Bickling’s case, all that anyone, including the roommates and Bickling’s lawyer, were told before the plywood went up is that the home had “code violations.”

Right - all things that a person who did his or her own home maintenance or laundry or whatever would be likely to have around the house.

Good Gawd, they obviously are thinking that the ‘protesters’ are planning on making molotov cocktails and other nefarious devices… This is insane! Wtf are the federales thinking…? It’s a sorry state of affairs when the jack-booted thugs are that paranoid…! 8-(

Lindsay, I so appreciate your coverage.

For folks on the scene in the Twin Cities, the people with lime green/chartreuse caps/vests are National Lawyers Guild legal observers, staff, and attorneys.
