Terry obviously has very poor reading comprehension. Or maybe he just doesn’t read. But some friend of his should send him a memo: 2008 is about CHANGE. You dumb freak, didn’t you GET it when Hillary was beaten, a lot because she was running like it was 2000. Yes, several years ago, it WAS common for those who had campaigned for years to be pushed aside when a D.C. insider decided s/he just HAD to have that post. No more. You want something? EARN it. Don’t think that you can get a seat just because you are the Great Terry McAuliffe.

I remember Checchi, what a phony!

I also recall telling my wife that, after the elections (which he lost) we’ll never heard of him again. And I didn’t until you mentioned him in your post.

How’s that for dedication to public service?

I don’t like McAuliffe either, but please stop perpetuating the historical slander of Reconstruction by referring to people as ‘carpetbaggers’ and ’scalawags’. Read Foner or DuBois on Reconstruction. There is enormous ignorance of that history, but I think any serious reader will be amazed at the accomplishments of Freedmen and Northern supporters during the period from 1865 to the compromise of 1876: the first free, universal public education in the country, an early ‘war on poverty’. The supporters who can South during that period included former abolitionists and others who had made great sacrifices in the war for emancipation. The compromise of 1876 marked the final turning of the Republican party of Lincoln to support for big business, and military suppression of labor strikes in the North and Indian uprising in the Dakotas and elsewhere.
DuBois writes that when the compromise withdrew the Union troops protecting the Reconstruction government, the southern white working class and yeoman farmers were faced with a historic choice between progress and the Klan.
Let’s revisit that history and hope that a better choice is made this time.

Yes, she knew the baby was Down syndrome during pregnancy.

Gov. Sarah Palin was back at work today, holding a meeting on the natural gas pipeline three days after giving birth to her fifth child.

Palin and her husband, Todd, showed the baby, Trig Paxson Van Palin, to a few reporters and talked about the sooner-than-expected delivery.

Trig arrived about a month early and has Down syndrome, the governor confirmed. Testing during early pregnancy revealed the condition. Palin said she was sad at first but they now feel blessed that God chose them. The couple has lots of family support, she said.

Run, Terry, run.

If for no other reason than to put paid to your political career, such as it is. Time to go back to earning a real living, Terry. Or go live on an island somewhere.

Sorry, Virginia, but you may have to do the dirty deed for us. Nothing would please me more than to see Terry McAnus come in third in a Virginia primary, as I am sure he would.

Can you say Harris Miller? I thought you could.

Because of her anti choice stance on abortion we can and should discuss it.

I’m wondering…she is 44. That’s a bit on the high end of one’s normal reproductive life. Did she use a fertility clinic?
