Is everyone out partying? Just a couple people downstairs.
Bob in HI
zed
all love to the gulf coast
all ruin befall the GOP hosts
ok: zed-1
thanks to Attaturk for reminding us where McCain found the gates of Hell….and what he did there.
“Let them see cake”
congrats to bob for the zed!
It’s ok Bush is a lying, cheating, murderer… He’s wearing a flag pin!
We’re thinking of you right now Gulf Coast and let’s all hope Gustav loses steam no matter where it is headed.
EXCEPT the GOP Convention of course …
I mean you can NOT stop something that has been prophesied …
And I do remember one of them asking for the sheeple to pray for rain ( they just got the days wrong like they have been doing for the past 8 years ) …
OT but Brooks’ column this morning is shockingly bad even by his standards.
Back on T, seeing KKKarl’s comment that hurricanes just won’t cut the Rs a break kinda makes me wish it would end up exactly wherever he is. That’d be some break, huh?
Happy Anniversary.
I posted this the other night, but thought it apropos.
Here is Gustav’s projected track

Looks like a major battering from wind and rain for NO area (the severe Northeast quadrant of a low presure system).
Seventy two years on this mortal coil. The years are such a burden, weighing the soul and body down. So many years. So old. Must sleep. Where’s my Ambien?
1,748 DAYZ AND THE KILLIN’ GOEZ ON AND ON AND…
Citizen Attaturk and the Firepup Freedom Fighters:
August 29 a date that will carry the hope of Martin King, Barak Obama and a suffering nation and the shame of more of man’s inhumanity to man…divine irony, God is surely watchin’. What is the latest report from New Orleans…let’s pray that those folks are raised up on waves of hope from Denver today and not tides from the Gulf of Mexico.
Obama didn’t jest step forward in front of his legions to do battle with the fascist devil last night, he took off the cloak of “post partisanship” and aswaged the fears of progressives everywhere…we must all step up now and cover our leader, they won’t go after us but they’ll surely target him.
KEEP THE FAITH AND PASS THE AMMUNITION, NOW WE MUST WALK THE TALK!!
I’d like to congratulate John McSaim on his 72nd birthday.
May he have a complete and satisfying BM every morning.
May the good Lord be kind to his remaining hair.
May he find his keys (all of them).
May he suffer little or no lower back discomfort.
May the embarassing smells always happen outside.
May the adhesive hold until after the speech.
Happy Birthday, John McSaim. You’ve been with us a long, long time, and America wouldn’t be the Saim without you.
Not quite. Soaring rhetoric is only good for cheers and the ego but the facts remain that obama voted for FISA, for gun ownership, has spoken against mentally disturbed women having abortions and is in the camp of supporters of state sponsored murder. He is still bowing to his corporate masters and moving as fast as he can toward the middle, or what used to be the right wing since the middle has shifted so much.
Stay hopeful if you will but be aware that whichever of the two candidates is elected we will only be changing the CEO of america corporation and will not be changing direction for that we need a lot more than an election.
Alright fine. I’m going to admit it. I went to bed last night with my head on my pillow, with the covers pulled up to my chin, my arse sticking up in the air and I had the biggest most gawd damned smile on my face because I’m proud to be a Democrat! Thank you Barack Obama!
When I saw Joe Scarborough this morning talking high praises of Barack and telling his listeners that being there to witness history could not be captured on the tv. He is smitten this morning. Yes, Joe the Moe is smitten with Barack Obama!
The tide has changed….and ole looky….Hurricane Gustav is headed to the Republican National Convention! Oh boy!
;-)
BBC reports: Argentina shows the way for those who criminally abuse governmental power. Two Generals, in their eighties, are sentenced to prison for life. At least the Argentineans have the huevos Pelosi and Reid lack.

additional: This is what justice seen to be done looks like. Most of Congress needs to face the same tribunal, fwiw.
Damn I want Obama to make an ad using this image. Very Marie Antoinette “Let them eat cake.”
His ads have been getting better. Keep swinging.

I reckon not too much of one side of the dispute is available in the propaganda swilled there.
cake for McLame

And we didn’t even pray for it. *g*
Brooks knows his world of wealth and priviledge is about to come tumbling down! His article is truly pathetic, as is the man.
McCain’s birthday comming up. When BUSH was AWOL during Katrina wsn’t that one of the places he was? At a McCain birthday party? maybe one of the links answers this. Didn’t read ‘em yet.
I don’t think his world will come tumbling down. He, and his miserable ilk, will hopefully fade into irrelevance. What the punditocracy fears most is ceasing to have influence.
And now I have to go to work, always fun after three hours sleep.
I went to bed late last night, but still woke up early this morning with more energy than I’ve had in quite a while. Is this some kind of afterglow?
Nomolos above has legitimate concerns, but I learned a LONG time ago that I’m never going to get a president with whom I agree 100 percent, but Barack Obama is so much better than McCain that I’m not just grudgingly accepting his candidacy, but I’m on the bandwagon.
Yes, I was concerned about his nuclear power comment, yes I was livid about the FISA thing, but there is also a LOT to like about Obama. The work doesn’t end on November 4 for progressives, that’s when the real work begins.
Accept it. But also accept that the work will be all but impossible if McCain is in the White House. We’ll have our work cut out for us even with an Obama presidency, but at least with Obama we’ll see the light at the end of the tunnel. With McSame it will just be endless darkness.
Dare I saw, with Obama there’s hope?

Well said!
Thanks, Attaturk. I join with those who hope Gustav fizzles, but the latest projections really look frightening. It’s encouraging that it sounds like there are actual evacuation plans this time. I hope they kick those into gear in time.
It’s hard to believe that the picture is still available on the White House web site. I used it and a few others in my tribute to McCain’s birthday.
Even Glenzilla agrees that Obama’s speech was very effective.
“let ‘em eat cake” indeed.
and don’t forget the pretend guitar playing, since scrubbed from the official white house site.
People should chant “let ‘em eat cake” in St. Paul.
And may the 72 year old John McSaim take advantage of the restorative power of frequent naps.
Happy birthday, McSaim. Seventy two years is a long time.
Barack Obama will be 72 in 2033.
I blogged about David Brooks’ column today over at my blog.
The only traffic it usually gets, is me, but at least I’m able to vent.
Citizen Sufilizard:
Nicely put…I think that havin a good shit detector is
genetic condition of all progressives and ,unfortunately, many retreat into cynical absolutism after a few blows of outrageous fortune (and bad candidates). What IS important to remember is that progressives are always on the cutting edge of advancing the IDEA of democracy and politics is the art of the possible so results are never gunna reach the ideal…but it is the progressive’s job to hold the politicians feet to the fire and never be satisfied but also acknowledge the small advances toward the goal.
I’ll hit it as soon as I get home from work…
Cool. Mornin’ Dr Murphy.
Good morning all,
Sitting here watching c-span, listening to some of the dumbest people on the planet call in. All of this muslim and baby killing shit. I really shouldn’t put myself through this stuff especially first thing in the morning.
His world of wealth and privilege will still be there. Like Old Man Broder he’ll just bemoan the fact that Obama et al aren’t “one of them.”
This pic should be live and up-top all day long!
News about rethug VP coming out – according to latest releases Pawlenty and Romney are out.
Short Ride. Oh, Wakan Tanka, let it be Short Ride.
Guys, I think next week is gonna get real bad in the gulf states.
Hanna is joining Gustov on their race to our shores.
By Wednesday, everyone from Texas to South Carolina are gonna be feeling their one-two punch.
Crap.
Looks like he has gone all the way ’round the bend. I remember that Paul Gigot had sort of run out of sanity, also, by the time he left. Don’t know what happens to these folks. Brooks gave almost the sole thumbs down to the Obama speech. Some little divorce from reality.
3 hours of media is not worth 85 days of media saying the McCain campaign are liars, says ScarBro
