Sheryl Crow - A Change Would Do You Good.
What's on your mind tonight, matey?
g’evening pups
i picked this out last night and did not know she was gonna be singing this song tonight
how cool is that!
FURST!
Did I mention I was at Mile High today?
Come on, don’t tell me you wouldn’t do it :)
I STILL think they shoulda used THIS song after BO’s speech.
how is everyone tonight?
Hola, Suz!
Great tune for tonight!
Suze, as you know - medicated.
Newton - I wrote the campaign and suggested it. Ya never know. PT is one unsung national treasure.
I am just coming down from all of this. It’s still only 10 pm here.
msnbc is rerunning the bo speech - the pre-video is up now
Little synch problem on that video- nice sound though.
Good evening Miss Suzanne and everyone else….tonight is my last night in Oregon…. nicely stuffed with Pad Thai Noodles and summer rolls…… Celebrating a really great speech…..
Sheryl’s great but that “Only in America” song keeps rattling through my brain. I do mostly my own music but I think I will cover that one.
McCain’s reported choice of Good and Pawlenty will be a disaster.
It’ll make all of the GOP-er catcalls about experience seem foolish.
-G
i’m glad i got to meet you on my drive up here katymine - and am looking forward to lunch with ya next time you are up here. my treat next time.
Evening Pups!! Wow what a speech…
Now that it is over you can take your time Digging Suz’s Post!! Great song Suz!!
A little context.
Think Obama tonight. Now think McInsane “green” with envy:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwWBZESBJDc
Conglomerate Media is gonna have their work cut out for them to try to keep the race close and fluff McInsane. You know they’ll try though!
We gotta hit the streets. Still an uphill battle with all black box voting machines.
How about somebody put up “I’m So Glad, I’m glad, I’m glad, I’m glad.”
i almost went with this one
MS Julie is watching it now… she was teaching and came home just as it ended!!
Sun coming up over New York City
School bus driver in a traffic jam
Starin’ at the faces in her rearview mirror
Looking at the promise of the Promised Land
One kid dreams of fame and fortune
One kid helps pay the rent
One could end up going to prison
One just might be president
Only in America
Dreaming in red, white and blue
Only in America
Where we dream as big as we want to
We all get a chance
Everybody gets to dance
Only in America
Sun going down on an La. freeway
Newlyweds in the back of a limousine
A welder’s son and a banker’s daughter
All they want is everything
She came out here to be an actress
He was the singer in a band
They just might go back to Oklahoma
And talk about the stars they could have been
Only in America
Where we dream in red, white and blue
Only in America
Where we dream as big as we want to
We all get a chance
Everybody gets to dance
Only in America
Yeah only in America
Where we dream in red, white and blue
Yeah we dream as big as we want to
i have to admit that i have never, in all my 53 years, watched a rerun of a political speech that i had watched live.
i’m gonna watch this one again. dayam it was a fine speech
This is pretty neat, a Red Cross strategy flash game.
I’m so Glad
That would have been a great choice too
Far
We’ve been travelling far
Without a home
But not without a star
Free
Only want to be free
We huddle close
Hang on to a dream
On the boats and on the planes
They’re coming to America
Never looking back again
They’re coming to America
Home, don’t it seem so far away
Oh, we’re travelling light today
In the eye of the storm
In the eye of the storm
Home, to a new and a shiny place
Make our bed, and we’ll say our grace
Freedom’s light burning warm
Freedom’s light burning warm
Everywhere around the world
They’re coming to America
Every time that flag’s unfurled
They’re coming to America
Got a dream to take them there
They’re coming to America
Got a dream they’ve come to share
They’re coming to America
They’re coming to America
They’re coming to America
They’re coming to America
They’re coming to America
Today, today, today, today, today
Was a damn good speech. I just wonder if it’ll sway my grandfather, who’s very conflicted. On the one hand, he’s a lifelong, hardcore Democrat. On the other, he’s one seriously racist bastard. In his words, he “Can’t have a N***** for a boss.” Kind of a tough nut to crack.
so much for civil discourse:
I know a LOT like that!
Lots of people over 80 can’t really comprehend the thought of a black president.
If I were you, I’d start looking into whether you may have been adopted.
I cried tonight. It was so wonderful. Cried with delight to see a black man at the podium. Cried with delight at the best speech evah.
(right after the speech McCain ran out to his front yard to make sure there were no kids running around on his lawn. He shook his fist in the air and cursed his fate as the repug sacrificial asshole)
have him read this.
I am so spent, downtown San Francisco is like a ghost town tonight, it is so peaceful, I live in the tenderloin and usually all you hear are sirens, crackheads screaming, horns honking, any man who can quite the TL by giving a speech on TV has a power I had never seen before.
If you live near Swans, then the sirens are worth it.
Oh so the lone crackhead was down at Market St tonight apparently.
My Dad wasn’t been that hardcore but for someone who saw his parents in white robes and dearly loves is Korean grandson, he really has come a long way baby…… He knew too many POW’s and states that McCain cannot be stable enough to be Prez….. so I go at from that side……
Just tell him and show him ALL about McCain….. and since he is my Senator, Dad takes me word….. so give him something to vote against first….. then let Obama prove to him that he can keep his promises….
heh
8 is enough!
On McCain’s judgement, or lack thereof.
Aide to McCain lovebuddy Ahmed Chalabi arrested on suspicion of bombing.

David Brooks has written an incredibly childish parody of the Obama speech that has to be read to be believed. Can’t believe the NYT let him print this piece of shit.
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08.....ks.html?hp
Hey punaise! gotta cha!
So everyone knows McCain has chosen Pawlenty but no one cares. No suspense, no drama after what happened tonite and the Goopers are talking about delaying their convention.
Man, it must really suck to be a Republican.
whining is what they do when they know they are losing. tonight, america saw hope and the possibility of changing back to the american dream.
the uber rich gop and their hired writers don’t like that and want us beaten back down.
it is official? last i heard, that was just a leak that paw had cancelled several events.
it was just as likely he was home crying about not getting the veep to me as it was that he got it based on that.
But I would pay good money to be at the snoozefest when they announce.
ding ding ding…. that even deserves a tripple !!!
The beauty of what’s happening is that we don’t need to win people over like that anymore to win. Obama with his positive message, and the grassroots infrastructure that was given a shot in the arm by Howard Dean, are bringing so many new people into the process, young and year-enhanced, that the new people far outweigh the leftover mentalities.
Still a ways to go, and the actual showing up on election day is crucial, but we’re so far ahead of any previous elections, at least in my lifetime, that I don’t worry about expending any energy on people “set in their ways” so to speak. Simply don’t need them to win. Are time and energy is better spent on registering and talking to middle-grounders.
No it’s not official but it is either Pawlenty or someone not on the short list. That is, if it IS to be announced tomorrow, it will be Pawlenty.
Punaise, as you know:
Tout le monde veut devenir un chat
Gave Brooks an appropriate comment for his column- so far they have left it up.
Yep. Dr. Dean is the man.
Incredibly childish reaction to a very serious speech. You should be ashamed of this work.
I noticed a powerful theme in BHO’s sppech that was tied to some big examples:
“Failure to Respond”
Two of the biggest examples of Bush failure: Katrina and AQ in Afg
“John McCain said he would follow bin laden to the Gates of Hell. John McCain wouldn’t chase bin laden to the cave he lives in !“
.
I just responded to the Brooks article:
David Brooks has written the most childish response I have ever read in my life. Hopefully, when his peeps are no longer in office he can retire with dignity. At the rate he is going he is making a fool of himself and this paper.
rw- what are you talking about?
true, but:
The URL contained a malformed video ID.
I couldn’t get by the first paragraph. What a dork (David Brooks)
re: my 55- never mind, I got it! ;)
I believe ya. I’ll pass on the reading part.
Kos pointed out the Babbleton AP article was online just after Obama’s speech ended, which would be impossible with copy editing and and formatting and such (a complete, full-length article that is).
Now Bobo has something up already?!? Seems very likely it was written or at least sketched out before Obama even went up there.
So Conglomerate Media folks have agendas and will advance despite actual facts? I would’ve never guessed…./s
That was the comment I posted at the NYT on the Brooks column. Sorry for the confusion.
I would liked them to finish with this song. I heard the word “change” here first.
“Waiting on the world to change” by John Mayer
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXWXQeHCWpo
Brooks is such a dissembling, cowardly agenda advancer for the neo-cons and the money elites.
He is disgrace.
If I see him in NH I’m gonna give him the Luntz treatment.(Loud and berating verbal abuse on a public way)
-G
I started to skim that. I didn’t want to spoil my mood, so I stopped. What a fucking arrogant, self-satisfied wanker.
Newsflash, Mr NYC-centric taxi-riding guy; In Denver, we ride bicycles. You might want to try it, it’s a skill that’s going to come in handy soon.
C*nt. (in the English sense, of course.)
Let me try the direct link: still learning href stuff

(topic, a change will do you good)
If PBS fired Bobo from NewsHour, would they even get one letter of protest? Is there some sort of rabid Bobo Brooks following in America I don’t know about?
Can the clown! No one would care. It would actually INCREASE ratings. I might even consider donating again PBS.
they would be thunderstruck by the letters of praise and not know how to respond
Baskin Robbins coming out with campaign themed ice cream flavors. Suprisingly, the McCain flavor makes no reference to John McCain’s time as a prisoner of war, which he hates to ever mention. Because he was a POW. For five and a half years.
dayam, its been hovering between 69 and 71 here since 2pm and is currently 70 degrees out. bet its gonna rain and that is why i’m warming up and not cooling off tonight.
my bold

Whirl!
His remark about Denver being a suburb of Boulder is so wrong on so many levels. To start with, it’s incredibly patronising.
I’m not going to waste any more energy on him.
Prick.
Fucking Straight Talk Crunch. Vanilla ice cream, caramel, almonds and white chocolate chips (dyed red, of course). That’s totally elitist ice cream.
I pointed out this morning in the dead tree edition of the NYT, that two frontpage articles were using “Barack Hussein Obama” to refer to our nominee. The Adam Nagourney-weaver article was the only text above the fold and it started with Obama’s full name, which stood out like a sore thumb.
No “Sen.” before his name. Nuthin. Went and found an article about McInsane. First words…”Sen. John McCain…” Used proper Senator, and didn’t use John Sidney McCain III at any piont in the article. Seems small, but subliminal and very efffective to much of the general public. Assholes…
dayam, bet lurk wouldn’t eat that - and he loves pecans
They already made one of McInsane’s campaign. It’s called “Rocky Road.”
Elmore says that Bobo’s Op-ed is really really stupid….. yep…..
The names suck. Whirl of Change, what the fuck is that? Sounds like an anal sex toy to me.
Dam Suz it was 101 down here and they say more of the same tomorrow and through Sunday!! It is still 78 now :>(
Yeah, but being drunk on this auspicious evening, I would eat anything.
Well, Baskin Robbins doesn’t have two of my all time favs-
Rocky Road and Pink Grapefruit Ice. Probably a good thing bec. the names themselves to make me think of McCain.
ya might wanna let the baskin robbins know that hannibal
Sounds like pure Mavericky disgusting to me.
ka-thud as my head hits the keyboard followed by helpless laughter
To be fair, most things sound like names for sex toys/sex acts to me. :)
uh oh! You’ll regret that when you wake up tomorrow. ;)
You may have to close-up shop tonight all by your lonesome, Suzanne.
Oh if only this were true.
Hey you guys, Ron, Steve (neighbor) and I helped the fish and game department catch a poacher on Saturday. Steve takes photos of the wild life on Saturday morning back on American river right behind our house. For three saturdays this smuck was spearfishing stripers. He had a wet suit, spear gun and a raft to put the fish in. When he was done he would fold up the raft that turned into a backpack and walk out. On saturday Steve went down and hid. He called us when the dude showed up. Ron called the warden and I went and took pictures of the license plates of the cars in the parking lot where he would probably park. As I took a photo of a black bmw suv he walked into the lot. I drove around and got a photo of this guy in his gear getting into the suv. I called Ron and told him what kind of car it was and he called the warden. Then I went to a four way stop to wait for the warden. The guy left. When I got home Ron called the warden again and said that he had gotten away. The warden said, “Dude, I have him right here on the sideway. I got him.” He was charged with poaching and carrying a dangerous weapon. The warden called today and said that the DA may file charges. The jerk is an engineer. and a poacher.
Oh, you did not just do that. You did not make see think of this:

Now I’ll never get some shut eye.
McW flavor: vanilla smoothie (it’s bland and easy on the dentures)
i found one foot placed on the floor kept the bed from spinning but i usually forgot about the forking drapes and all that blasted sunshine in the mornings.
i’m just saying…
anybody - was Richardson’s speech worth mentioning at Mile High today? I was at the rally in Portland early last spring when Richardson appeared and endorsed Obama - a fairly big moment in the primary battle.
The Bonnie Raitt song Suz posted the other night reminded me of this album where she did a number with John Lee Hooker. This number was accompanied by Carlos Santana: a nice cool down tune
Vanilla and prunes, with just a dash of pepto bismol. Sounds about right to me for McStain.
and gives you one big fat fucking headache.
*innocent look*
Eight is enough for this family.
Keeping one foot on the floor at all times used to be considered a form of birth control.
A great one bonkers!! loving me some AC DC(:>))
Ben and Jerry’s already has a McInsane flavor…
“Half Baked.”
http://www.benjerry.com/our_pr.....7684010132
Yeah, it was probably the second best, followed by Gore, IMO.
katymine, i went into fred meyer today - i could so get into trouble there… thanks for the heads up
Good night, sleep well.
I’ve done some work with them and really a pleasure to work with them. Ultimate professionals.
Surprisingly small in stature (around 5′ tall and skinny), but damn, no one rocks as hard as they do.
One nasty case of warts.
For sure I have seen them in concert a few times and they always put on a great show!!
Well blow me over with a feather!
WaPo Editorial:
~~But in Barack Obama, the Democrats have a charismatic candidate well positioned to offer himself as a new-generation embodiment of change. The momentous accomplishment of his becoming the first African American presidential nominee — one who barely edged out a candidate who would have been the first female nominee — cannot be overstated.~~
Just don’t read down to the ugly bit
~~Actually, Mr. Obama stands — unfortunately, not alone — in his stubborn refusal to acknowledge that improvements on the ground in Iraq were fostered by the surge that Mr. McCain urged and that Mr. Obama opposed.~~
http://www.washingtonpost.com/.....03203.html
Did you have the stones to watch the vid? I didn’t.
They keep oxygen backstage for Angus, and before they come out for an encore, he collapses in a chair and they put the mask on him. A minute later, he’s pumped and runs right back out there and absolutely kills it again. Unbelievable how much that guy puts into a show.
Glad ya got to see them a bunch! I heard they’re going (are?) out again.
Yep… the two stores I miss in AZ is Freddy’s and Bi-Mart which is a mini-Freddy’s which is employee owned……
Freddy’s saved my butt many a time…… oh those days when I forgot a kids birthday…… run home from work, hit the bakery section, get a cake with their name, grab a card, wrapping paper or gift bag, head into the toy or kids clothes section and boom…. Birthday saved ….
Of course I did. And if you’re the squeamish type, I wouldn’t recommend it.
You and your peeps RAWK!
sleep well, peteco - good to see you here.
Not squeamish, just shaved.
Step away from the cat box!
Though it’s not as bad as say, 2 girls 1 cup. It’s still pretty nasty stuff. I feel bad for the guy, they removed 4 lbs of warts, and there’s still plenty left.
