The stagecraft was INCREDIBLE! Come home America to the wide facade of a great home on the American Plains, all presented on-stage… to the safety of the Democratic Party which will protect you, your family, and the American Way.

The speech was what I have been waiting for. For the first time in my life, after a long speech, I felt CLEAN. Can’t explain it, but it is a feeling I woke up with this morning.

The never before witnessed quality of “stuff” coming out of the Obama campaign just reinforces for me the idea that an Obama presidency will be, finally, the kind of government the Great, Working Class American Deserves.

Clean! Clean! Thank God Almighty, WE are CLEAN at last.

Reading it, and not having seen it, I’m not terribly impressed by the content. Oh, it’s miles ahead of the GOP, and it at least acknowledges some of the challenges ahead of us: the economy, the environment, foreign policy–actually, I think it’s best on foreign policy–but the substantive content is not that great, and if the policies are implemented as promised, there are going to be problems. If we elect Obama, it will be on charisma, rather than because we think he’s got useful answers to our problems, and that bothers me.

Caw!

Hell yeah! This takedown of the cocktail weenie circuit is like watching a dream come true before my eyes. Been waiting for years for this. Bravo Keith and Kos and all of us!

I think part of the “change” I’m really looking forward to is a change in the tired old “commentators.” They can start by throwing Tom Brokaw into the trash bin.

Did you notice Rachel’s drop jaw reaction to Pat Buchannon’s praise for the speech tonight? Who knew that above partisanship, P.B. was a speech-craftsman above all else?

selise, I don’t understand your comment. What part of community service/organizing instead of high-powered Wall Street law firm and millions of bucks didn’t you hear?

What part of tax cuts for middle and lower middle class workers while in the Illinois Senate?

What part of more health care for kids while in the Illinois Senate? (by the way - he wrote those bills and got them passed)

People do make choices in their lives to do the right thing - and by most accounts Obama has done exactly that.

Of course the Rethugs and the MSM completely ignore his service everywhere and claim he has “no” experience.

On behalf of community organizers everywhere (I was one for 15 years) that is some of the most difficult work you can ever do. You have to get all these ‘interest groups’ with all their differing points of view and ideas of how they want to do things to agree on a plan of action to actually get something done. Obama was very good at it.

And it shows - look at his campaign. You can tell a lot about a person by the way they operate - this one is bottom-up driven, supremely well-organized, well-funded by mostly small donors, no money from PACS.

What exactly is it that you want?

The fighting Obama is what I’ve been waiting for! This skeptic is very pleased. I was a little uncomfortable with how choreographed everything was, but they pulled it off amazingly well. As an old-timer, I sort of miss the dems traditional chaos, but this was a show that will appeal to people who, unlike me, are used to stadium sport events and huge concerts. It worked here at home on TV. The lead-in speeches were great, the music hip. The ordinary folks testimonials were genius and sincere. The whole convention has been uplifting and genuinely spirited. Stay tuned next week for Repubs phony moralizing, McCain getting confused, Lawrence Welk re-runs, and fundy preachers.
