Your normally shy correspondent, on camera for interview #4, this time for Cox News. Battlefield promotion -- emergency backup FDL blogger with the sound bites.
They said it would be on their site later in the evening on Statesman.com, DNC Behind The Scenes.
I was asked:
Aren't there any conservative bloggers here?
I told him he might be surprised to hear there were likely a lot of them present:
There are a lot of people here that consider themselves conservatives, but this administration has broken their heart.
Biggest deficit in history, government intervention in people’s private lives at an unprecedented level.
The real conservatives are joining us for this election, and for as long as it takes, on the other end of the seesaw to change the balance of power.
Then later, when the balance has been reset, we can go back to disagreeing about almost everything.
P.S. Jon Tester walked in to the Big Tent press room shortly afterward to a complete love fest. He received the best reception of any of the politicians yet. I thanked him for coming to FDL for Blue America and he said he loved talking with us and would be happy to come back. Did you ever think Montana would elect progressives?

mornin’ eg - can’t wait to see your on-screen debut(?)….
When your job is to simply echo Republic talking points, there’s no reason to actually attend events in order to write about them. It’s a “cliff notes” vocation.
Yes, there were conservative bloggers. I can think of one in particular whose breathtaking ignorance about global warming shocked one of my team members on assignment in Denver.
But let’s flip this question and check next week at the Republican convention, since they granted extremely few (find me some, okay?) credentials or other access to progressive bloggers.
Just catching up this morning and running waaaaay behind on pretty much everything. Good on ya, egregious.
OT but pretty much TheT: Joe Frickin’ Lieberman for VP??????? Are ya kiddin’ me? Are ya messin’ with what’s left of my tiny mind? Ah, jeez, I need a chill pill. Maybe two.
good morning egregious
perfect. encapsulates so much and you can bet it wasn’t something they expected to hear
A+ +
Hey pups, good morning!
hey egregious, good morning to you!
In case you missed the comedy central interview, here’s the link — scroll to 10:28 and the picture is 8:45
http://blog.indecision2008.com…../#comments
I made them laugh by saying if the Democrats got too powerful and lazy over the next 20 years then our children will vote them out — and they should.
Good Morning Egregious and Pups!
Now THIS is a convention!
No conservatives, eh? I’m pretty much as liberal as they come, and I feel more conservative about saving what we have, being frugal, avoiding unnecessary war, treating my neighbor as i’d like to be treated, same for the fella half way around the world.
Those alien beings that reporter’s looking for are the new radicals, who break all the rules of compassion and responsibility and proper governance. But mebbe that’s just me. ymmv.
For the 1st time in weeks, I slept well last night.
Our ticket makes the opposition look and smell like last month’s hamburger, green with mold and covered with carrion flies. But mebbe that’s just me.
My honey had the stomach to turn on CNN this a.m. and reports teh heathen-sent right are tryin’ ta’
drumdredge up excitement, any at all, for their plan to reveal their veepage tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow.yawn.
More yummy morning coffee, and then i’m searching for some terrific footage and commentary about the Democratic Convention. I hear it’s been quite exciting and interesting so far.
hehWHOOT!!!!!Morning egregious,
you are having too much fun out there, get to work!
Joe Frickin’ Lieberman for VP??????? Are ya kiddin’ me?
Report: Rove Tried To Kill Lieberman VP Pick:
Republican strategist Karl Rove called Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman (I-Conn.) late last week and urged him to contact Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) to withdraw his name from vice presidential consideration, according to three sources familiar with the conversation.
Lieberman dismissed the request, these sources agreed.

Ya know what I find interesting? That KKarl has JoeLie’s direct phone number…..
Morning EG. Great post!
Good morning. So you are a celebrity now kinda like Paris, Britney and Barrack?
/s
there, fixed it for ya.
You of all people, hee hee.
Amazing how much fun work can be when you’re doing a terrific job and all is going well.
dontcha think
Yes.
If the GOP thought that they could hold on to their votes in the independent-minded West (Montana, Wyoming, etc.) after they engaged in warrantless wiretapping, politicizing the DOJ, abandoning habeas corpus, and generally doing whatever King George the 43rd felt like doing that day . . . they are about to learn how sadly mistaken they have been.
Another place: Alaska.
Oh now that’s just cute. KKKarl should know ya can’t turn around a turtle while it’s crossing a busy highway.
I took the liberty of editing I hope you do not mind
lol
Well if you consider that before egregious my previous screen name was shygirl :)
He still has it after the phone call he made to Joementum immediately following Joe’s loss in the CT primary.
Joe’s not the kind of guy that stays bought, you know; you have to keep working at it.
I’m sure Rove’s got heartburn over the possibility of Lieberman as veep select since he knows exactly how buyable the slack-jawed weasel is, and that weasel has been trying to buy himself back into good graces with Dems with the largest donations so far to the DSCC this cycle.
You know there is probably a room in hell where Rove can insinuate and Lieberman can whine at each other through all eternity. Sort of like Sartre’s No Exit, only dumber.
gotta go take kitty here to the doc for a checkup on his slowly mending eye infection. At its worst, he could still see more clearly than any repug. i know of. Then there are those concern-troll pundits, bless their teensy little hearts. Someone should have left a trail of crumbs. They’ll never find their way back. yawn. i suppose i gotta pretend like i care, the way they do… nah! not a pity-pat to spare.
i’m sure this has been answered but didn’t see it. Who was the DirtyFuckingHippie onstage with the Biden family. That guy wouldn’t never get into Mpls. never mind the R convention next week. Just another example of the difference between the parties. Dems = inclusive. I’m just sayin’, micrcosmically, speaking, right Katie?
Weather forecast for tonight: NO RAIN
Excellent.
Perfect!!
Whaaat? you have to be kidding. Doesn’t he know that the Dems only move for sex not money?
no. don’t apologize. actually that’s exactly what i did, but he already knew. he’s a smart honey. scientist. so he reports it as it occurred. i’m the sloppy scientist, who can’t resist tainting the message with a smidgeon of opining at their whining.
ain’t this a GRAND morning!?! looking fwd to THE speech of the season this eve.
Didn’t Michelle look endearing last night? She teared up a few times and just looked so beautiful and authentically moved by the proceedings. I hope all those with a negative opinion of her were watching. There was no angry vibe, just the opposite.
surely the resident poker players recognize a ‘tell’ when you see one -
Novakula published a column yesterday, calling a Lieberman pick “a disaster”
and someone’s now surprised to hear Karl no likey ???
helllooo … McFly !
as a born-agin compassionate heathen, am i allowed to peek? sounds fun, for a short while.
she was BEAUTIFUL! so was mom, wiping her eyes. i joined her.
This is a magic moment, folks. Stay tuned for more. ;->
*g*
i don’t think these are conservative (or necessarily progressive) issues. the first one is just recognizing that the real world puts limits on us and the second one is anti-authoritarian.
awesome eg!
just one question:
we have to wait 20 years?
Guess Novak didn’t retire after all. And why has he not been arrested yet? I know about the brain tumor but that’s for the trial. Why is he not in jail?
Good morning Egregious.
As I’ve stated a few months back, I really enjoy your stuff, and I’d like to thank you infinitely for your implication.
Well, let’s live through ‘08 first. After that, they’re fair game.
no kidding? i didn’t know that… does that explain all the “joe is with us on everything but the war” ?
Big news on JoeScar? The backdrop for Obama’s speech.
lol. i am so bookmarking this one to pull out in 2010. *g*
no kidding? i didn’t know that… does that explain all the “joe is with us on everything but the war” ?
walks like a
bribeduck, quacks like abribeduck - must be abribeduck…my @39 was to egregious @ 36
Big news on JoeScar?
That Republican strategist Mike Murphy is indispensable for every single segment ?
Good morning from Denver!
We are watching the Barking Idiots on MSNBC, desperately trying to spin ObamaStock in a negative light. Jerks. We are having a lazy morning before we head over there.
Weather should be perfect.
Reporting that McSame VP is Kay Bailey Hutchinson.
I’ve loved Jon Tester ever since I watched a debate between Conrad Burns and him. Conrad Burns said George Bush had a “plan to end the war in Iraq.” Tester asked what it was, and Burns said it was a secret, and Bush wasn’t going to tell Tester. Burns shouted: “He’s not going to tell you! You’d just blow it!” The audience laughed at Burns, and the grin on Tester’s face was priceless. I sent him some money after that.
At any rate, you gotta love an organic farmer!
Egregious!! you have been fantastic! Congratters on your promotion - well deserved.
That’s fine, I’m not Democrats Uber All. It’s all about doing what’s right for the country, to get us out of danger.
Have heard some sobering things about the DoJ from folks here.
Need to put the fire out first. Then we can go back to disagreeing about everything.
wouldn’t surprise me
Beerfart Liberal: I was wondering the same thing. I’m assuming he was a Biden relative, but I was just glad the Dems had the guts to put a longhair up there on stage, no matter what the wingnuts might say.
Thanks for the words of encouragement, Quebecois. Much appreciated.
“Did you ever think Montana would elect progressives?”
Montana has a history of electing progressives. Haven’t you heard of Jeanette Rankin?
source ?
linky ?
More
andbetter democrats.If that’s true, that’s pretty smart.
yes indeedy.
and Montana allowed women to vote in 1914. and they may have been the state that put the 19th amendment over the top :D
KAy Bailey Fuckyoursons?
Have heard some sobering things about the DoJ from folks here.
crawl on the teevee says DOJ is asking for a “massive” reduction in the sentence of Abramoff.
Makes sense - what with the virtual tidal wave of indictments which *finally* have provided transparency into the Bush admin’s racketeering - people goin’ to jail left and right.
Yeah, he’s earned his time off the sentence - otherwise, DOJ would never have been able to provide the healing transparency by exposing BushCo’s criminality.
/sarcastic rant.
about voting repub or dem—an elderly woman called into the call-in show and said if repubs win she can/will afford to pay ten dollars for gas, but we cannot afford to lose another man or woman in the war.
and the abc cameraman that was arrested is from here, quite a few people called in about it. one man said he was just in his son’s wedding a few weeks ago. remember, seohio is a ’small town’ kinda place.
said they said ‘blocking sidewalk’ then pushed him out into the street and said obstructing traffic….
and people latched onto biden’s wedding being in the un chapel….’globalist’ etc……geesh. i said i’m flabbergasted that anyone is having a problem choosing where to cast their vote.
have fun in denver pups!!!
How long can the U.S. put up with the corrupt and complicit corporate media? They have become nothing more than a giant “push poll” for the Republican Party. No wonder the American people make decisions against their own best interests. Bring back the “Fairness Doctrine” and break up the conglomerates.
Hey bloggers. I only need to know one thing: Is Springsteen gonna be a surprise tonight?
Ian’s upstairs
I don’t want a f*(^ing dialogue. Nor do I want a conversation.
Montana sent Jeanette Rankin (Republican) to the Congress twice. We sent Mike Mansfield, Lee Metcalf and Pat Williams. Progressives all.
NICE!
I have always considered myself a conservative for government issues and that means to me democrat, not republican…go figure
If you knew it wouldn’t be a surprise
Since I helped elect him, yeah. Montana is slowly changing, largely in response to the multiple disasters inflicted on the state by over a decade of Republican misrule. Important to remember that the state could easily swing back if the Dems do not deliver. So far, Tester, Bauchus (not my favorite), and Schweitzer have been delivering. The Dems stand a good chance of taking all the statewide state offices and solid majorities in both houses of the legislature this year.
Good morning, eg and all y’all.
Eg you ain’t no ways shy when laying out the truth.
A toast! Here’s lookin’ at you kid! (Can’t wait to see all the videos)
As jayt has opened the forum for rants, I should like to include one of me own:
No doubt it is incumbent upon that sub-species, Politicianauseous ‘Merkanus, to be-rattle sabers when extolling their own singular virtues and incomparable attributes, by way of impressing the rest of us lesser beings.
However, it is NOT reassurring that would-be Number Two has indicated, by his rattling most clearly that his ‘interpretation’ of recent events in Georgia appears quite different from my own; specifically, one notes, how similar are his and our current overlord’s view of the ’situation’. As would-be Number One has also firmly indicated his support of King George’s version of ‘reality’, how may we imagine that the ‘new’ One and Two will eschew the notion of ‘endless’ war?
Perhaps this is too much to ask or expect from those who would ‘lead’ the rest of us into ‘change’?
The preceding rant was for cathartic porpoises only, so please do not belabor me with the ‘need’ of the political class to appeal to the jingoistic aspect of the ‘Merkan mentality, that they not appear ‘weak’.
I, for one, have had more than enough of cowboys and cowgirls. Perhaps, so too has the rest of the world.
;~(
amen.
Jon Tester a progressive? Really?
I don’t think he’s a conservative, but I wouldn’t call him a progressive, meself.
The video is called “Behind the Scenes with the bloggers” but you’re not in it, unfortunately. The entire thing is focused on finding conservative bloggers. Gee, I hope he searches for liberal bloggers at the RNC. Oh wait. Does the RNC know what bloggers are? ;)
Way to go Egregious!
