It was great to see Ned and celebrate the fact that he liberated the Democrats in 2006 to buck the party "wisdom" and run against the war. That was a huge achievement, and it was wonderful to be a part of it. Hopefully we’ll be seeing more of Ned as Lieberman continues to take a prominent role in the McCain campaign.
It’s not like we didn’t warn them, you know.

oh Jane, that hug is a screensaver !
did Pach pass along the Novakula slam on Lieberweasel ?
We were right!
Do you think CT voters are finally experiencing Buyer’s Remorse?
I really hope so!
And Jane, you are so VERY correct – we told them so!
Just spoke with Governor Brian Schweitzer of Montana, thanked him for his work and said he tore the house down last night with his speech. He should have been the keynote.
Question from the uninformed: is Lamont going to run again?
J.Cro:
Yes. I have seen polls where if the election were held now Liebertoad would get crushed.
Did you ask him if he’ll run in ‘16? ;-)
The same one that says Obama is losing?
Amen to that!
Schweitzer is a real plain-spoken Democrat, not the pale technocratic imitation that is Mark Warner. I wish Warner best luck in his Senate race in Virginia, but you are right — Governor Brian should have keynoted.
Very cool, Jane. Good work.
T-
Too bad they didn’t recognize that the last time around.
Liebertoad – i LIKE it!
Yes, but he votes with Democrats on everything except Iraq. I heard that line trotted out on a panel discussion on CSPAN again today. I wonder if this is just because Democrats have been voting so much like Republicans lately.
BTW I think the media is doing a great job. I heard a few minutes ago NPR report that an American warship had decided not to dock in Gori, Georgia. I thought this was very sensible seeing as Gori is landlocked.
If only someone had tried to warn the Democratic Party and the country in general about Lieberman a couple of years ago. Oh wait…we did.
As much as I feel vindicated – I’d just have rather him not won that election.
I’m looking forward to his trouncing in the next one!
Who said Obama is losing?
Connecticut is known as the land of steady habits .. so it takes a while to sink in .. sadly
To bad its not like Missouri cause they’ve done been shown
NED!
Awwww, a group hug.
I think The Party of One has a Pity Party to schedule soon.
BWAAAAAHAHAHAHAAAAA.
Jerk.
Heh, Jane.
Can we call next week the “Old folks at their 7-12 homes week”?
FunnyD
To have elected Lieberman, I’m guessing that one of those habits was crack.
Is Ned thinking of running for anything? Will the Democrats support him this time? Ned was our first real success we beat the Center Dem candidate and it was only with GOP votes that Joe won.
The GOP had to give up on their own guy and throw in with Joe to beat us.
great video.
lbj speech on cspan
NPR did a piece that is a familiar theme here: The Volleys Of TV’s Political Analysts, by David Folkenflik
Not news to anyone here, but its good that this issue is getting attention.
Bob in HI
With enough wars, the yanks will get a handle on geography*, great catch /s
* reference: “God created WAR to teach Americans GEOGRAPHY.
Nobody but us expected Joe to switch to the dark side…all the Center Dems did a I’m as surprised as Condi after 9/11, no WMD were found in Iraq, shoe shopping while Katrina drowns, shoe shopping while Georgia gets invaded routine.
just keep kickin’ ass and takin’ names ……………..
(((egregious))) UNLEASHED !
catch, after great catch – go you firedog !
PRINCETON, NJ — It’s official: Barack Obama has received no bounce in voter support out of his selection of Sen. Joe Biden to be his vice presidential running mate.
Gallup Poll Daily tracking from Aug. 23-25, the first three-day period falling entirely after Obama’s Saturday morning vice presidential announcement, shows 46% of national registered voters backing John McCain and 44% supporting Obama, not appreciably different from the previous week’s standing for both candidates. This is the first time since Obama clinched the nomination in early June, though, that McCain has held any kind of advantage over Obama in Gallup Poll Daily tracking.
Just talked to kos, said hi from a few folks, he kindly inscribed his new book for me :)
Not sure I understand this “switch to the darkside” thing. Switch or true colors coming out. I had to hold my nose when I pulled the lever for Gore in 00.
Hopefully the switch in lead comes from disappointed Hillary fans. IMO, John McCain gets 40% from solid repubs, and 2-4% from bigots. The news media free pass for McCain doesn’t help matters, though.
Let’s see where things stand a couple of days after Hillary’s speech has been out there. Last time I looked, the transcript was the number three most emailed story on the yahoo news site, even above the puppy that scared off three bears.
Ok let me rephrase that, Joe after the election blamed his fellow Dems because we the Netroots didn’t like him and took great pleasure in giving the Dems the shiv openly instead of quietly from behind like he used to before Ned came along.
If anything Joe seems to love openly shiving Center Dems as the the Center Dems keep making excuses for him. He is the abusive husband who likes to publicly humiliate his loyal wife while she keeps making excuses for him.
Well, I actually think it’s bullshit, I was just being cute.
Good we can use this People politics don’t work in this election or big media buys it all revolves around ideas.
Moving to the Center has hurt not helped Obama.
I never understood why Gore chose Lieberman, unless it was to make himself appear exuberant by comparison.
tom ridge was just(well, now a while ago, cuz it’s taking so long to submit this) on msnbc. with andrea, who is hoarse.
blew it. in a multitude of ways.
the big finish?
he said mccain is a principled man with a principled past.
and that independent thinking dems will vote mccain.
wow, waht a soundbite.
having fdl access/loading issues today.severe.
this has been another edition of simple answers to simple questions :D
Gore was trying to distance himself from the big dog and his incredible heat and moisture seeking missile so he recruited this holy roller jerk off.
Or regional politics or AIPAC or a brainfart
Is that like: “74% of all statistics used are made up on the spot”. /s
Lieberman is Jewish and that was supposed to help with the Jewish American vote and show that Gore was strong in support of Israel.
Lieberman had also delivered a sanctimonious condemnation of Bill Clinton’s sexual antics so this was supposed to show Gore’s break with Sleak Willy.
By picking Lieberman, Gore thought to win the whiner vote.
“holy roller jerk off” pretty long but it would make a good vanity plate.
I have some foggy recollection of the VP candidate pool being a little shallow that year. Still, anyone would have been a better choice than Lieberman.

Mrs Greenspan interviewing McShame mentor John Lewis on MSNBC now
Ah, a genteel way to put it.
lol, According to CNN former President Clinton is skipping Obama’s speech. The first thing that came to my mind was that he is also missing Gore’s speech. FYI I measured four inches of rain from FAY, happy trees.. (roswell)
However lying the country into wars that kill large numbers of Arabs and warrantless domestic spying are A-OK for the kids apparently.
Lieberman always reminds me of Jim Bakker in that his face appears to be crafted out of molded latex.
NPR doesn’t know their Gori from their Poti.
But it does appear the military is once again having to react to warmonger diplomats who were running around saying the US was going to send ships into the port where Russia was still in control.
Again, the US military is having to reign in the dipolmatic corps.
Stunning….

Rain yes!!!! I wonder what it did to Lanier’s pool?
As well as vetoing health care for them
Ah yes, I’d nearly forgotten about the Presidential Daily (de)Brief(ing).
That ran because it was taken out of the mold to soon
Because they are so malicious, I think we tend to underestimate the sheer lazy incompetence of our rethug leaders. I’m not surprise that NPR couldn’t find Gori or Poti, or that they know the difference. Probably thought they were the same place, but one was subject to a ‘kerning’ problem. The more basic point is that our military leadership are trained not put military assets in a place where they might get lost for know reason. They understand full well that there would be no winners in a face-down with Russia, and they don’t want to precipitate one.
Madness, madness, madness.
It looked to me like most of the rain was over the Allatoona watershed which is west of Lanier’s, although Lanier did get some.
The two watersheds are about the same size but Lanier is a much larger body of water. That’s why Allatoona is way closer to full pool than Lanier.
Lamont costs the Clintons BIG IMHO.
I’ll bet the Clintons wish they had Lamont to do over.
More and better WAR for America, they need to learn more geography better!
FYI, the naval ship went to a port south of Poti and the “humanitarian” (read weapons) was unloaded onto a barge since the port hasn’t the draft for the naval vessel to land directly.
info this morning in one: BBC, The Guardian, Timesonline, The Independent, etc.
The Irish Times has this:

It was a smaller port called Batumi.
Is Romney supposed to deliver the equally numerous Mormon vote to McCain? It’s always a shrewd strategy to choose a veep that gives that extra edge with two percent of the population.
