the cozy cottage on the coast is fine – we had a glorious day of full sunshine today – and may get a few drops of rain. i’m settling into the coast life more each day.

We did NYC and Philly this August. Highways crowded and at a standstill. I don’t want to do this again. Culture FABULOUS!!!

i’m enjoying the sunshine, the fog, and the rain. the weather is not boring and i do like that. there was a great thunderstorm shortly after i arrived and it was spectacular. i was very cozy at the cottage and am enjoying the eye candy all around me. no direct ocean view but i walk down about 100 yards and i can see peeks and can take the trail down to the beach to watch surfers and/or kayakers in the water and the beachcombers on the sand.

Traffic’s awful around both cities most of the time, in my limited recent experience. At least, I’ve never found a time when you weren’t doing stop and go somewhere along the way.

Buses are the way to go there, I think. Last time I was in the Northeast, I took a bus from the Lehigh Valley into Newark. It was great. Get on the thing, open up a book, and you’re there in an hour.

Christine, I got to see NYC a few years ago. Really spectacular, but I won’t go again without being able to spend at least one month. I’d like to figure out a way to go and spend a reasonable amount of money. Thinking about those house exchange dealios. Does anyone have advice on this idea?

That was the thing about the Timothy Johnson business (shot AR Dem. Chairman). He was on anti-depressants and yet he had all those firearms with no supervision. I can’t be the only one who finds that idea crazy.

Looks like Stevens won his Primary easily. But with about 45% of the vote counted (and 48,000 votes) Young is 4 votes behind his Republican rival. 4 votes out of 48,000 separate these two! This could get very interesting with recount upon recount and lawsuits. Clearly Young is in deep trouble (as is Stevens, but his rival was not even competitive).

Begich tallied almost 65% of the votes in the Democratic Primary. Diane Benson ran a good race though.
