Hanging out in the convention hall at the DNC. Here are a few sights and sounds for everyone:
– Choke on your coffee line of the night award goes to Steny Hoyer for "America is tired of country club politics." Pot? Meet kettle.
– I think former Sen. Jack Danforth (R-Missouri) was sitting beside me for a while — and I’m wondering if he was just visiting (Sen. Bill Nelson came up to say hi at one point) or if something else is up. Interesting speculation abounds.
– Did an interview earlier with the Young Turks. Cenk is always a hoot, but we griped about Joe Lieberman and chatted about where things ought to be headed and the importance of Congressional races and not putting all the eggs in the presidential basket.
– Speaking of Joe Lieberman, got to catch up with Ned Lamont earlier before he headed over to the Big Tent.
– Was up in the luxury box area earlier. The DNC reserved some spaces for bloggers in the seated area on the floor, complete with ethernet capability. It’s really great. But it’s also an eye opener on who else gets backstage access. The DNC Finance people have a suite for donors and other folks to hang out, grab a drink and schmooze. Let’s just say, the cheese trays looked quite posh. And the suits going in and out were more so.
– On the other hand, there were some folks from a local union shop sitting near where I was who were able to get passes for the day today to see some of the speakers. They were so psyched, and were really excited about potential for races in their area. THAT was fun to see.
– They are churning through speakers this evening like crazy. Frederico Pena just finished, before him was Kathleen Sebelius. Earlier this evening, Sen. Clinton introduced a series of the female Dem Senators who spoke on equal pay and a whole host of other issues. She’s coming up in a bit, and I’ll have more coverage as the night goes on…
UPDATE: Lily Ledbetter is speaking now. Am working on getting some interview time with her tomorrow. Cross your fingers…
UPDATE #2: Lines of the night?
Bob Casey: "John McCain isn’t a maverick, he’s a sidekick."
Gov. Strickland of Ohio: "George Bush was born on third base, and then he stole second."
Gov. Schweitzer of Montana: "If you drill for oil in all of John McCain’s back yards, even the ones he doesn’t know he has." (The blogger room erupts in laughter at that one…)

Go Christy!!!
Christy, if it was Jack Danforth, he is from Missouri, not Indiana.
Similarly, if the gentleman next to you was from Indiana, he wasn’t Jack Danforth.
Christy!
Lily Ledbetter!
Four More Months! Four More Months!
Hippo meet critt-er
HIIIII Christy! W00t! So glad to hear from you there.
PS: Howie sez that Alan Grayson won his primary – more than 2x the votes of the #2.
So here’s my Lieberman Qs. When did he decide to torpedo the D party? Was it when he kissed Cheney on all 4 cheeks during the D veep debate in 2000? If so, what was his motivation?
Heya all — had a little trouble uploading my pix. But if you refresh your screens, you’ll get to see our blogger digs at the Convention Center. We’re in a converted weight room. Can you tell? *G*
And on Lily Ledbetter:
Sorry — I meant to say Missouri. Was typing and talking at the same time. bad me — will fix it.
Thanks Christy.
Senator Casey (PA) just had everyone chanting “four more months”
His best line about McShame: “That’s not a maverick — that’s a sidekick!”
Or wasn’t a senator.
Awesome — I got an update e-mail from Howie a little while ago and Alan was ahead. That’s great news if he won! Woot!!
Warner’s next, am I gonna shoot my teeVee?
Wow was thar last speaker exiting snore why am I craving corn flakes
Use blanks. Less damage.
I sure hope not. *g*
Are there judges in place to score the dancing ability of the Democratic delegates against the “dancing debacles” the Repub delegates are bound to sully the airwaves with next week?
Ha. A solution I hadn’t yet considered. Need to get my hunter friend with a couple dozen guns to confer.
Or perhaps I just need to get recycling to take my TV away. A much more left wing approach.
Forgot the link

God, that makes so much sense. Remember how he laughed with Dick? Wonder what Gore thinks of your idea?
early betting line on whether Mark Warner can out-bore Evan Bayh’s keynote of 2000?
mccain vp speculation I read today is that Kay Hutchison might be getting a full court press to accept a spot on the ticket. She has previously flatly stated she wasn’t interested in the vp spot with mccain in part due to being dead set on running for Gov. of Texas in ‘10. Evidently Repub Gov. Rick Perry is dead set on running for a third term and KBH, in the eyes of those watching, hasn’t shown much inclination to challenge him to date. As a result, there is speculation that she could be reconsidering an offer from mccain.
.
Gore allowed himself to be bitch slapped. Which is why the election was close enuf to allow the Rs to steal it. So ask Gore.
our Marion shared a most excellent suggestion for these occassions – she has a basket of rolled up socks
someone`s hurling, Lord, Kumbaya.
Someone`s hurling, Lord, Kumbaya, oh, Lord, Kumbaya.
I don’t know what Al Gore thinks about it, but I hear Tipper Gore would concur wholeheartedly…
John Nextel Warner telling his life story, two failed businesses then the jackpot.
Mark Warner, of course….
Any discussions inside the convention center about the peceful protests and police state treatment of them outside?
cbl2, I left a reply to your 79 downstairs.
She’s smart & I bet she got it….How are your shoes working for you? ;)
“Interesting speculation abounds” is an understatement.
I have a hunch that at least part of his attendance might have been to see Teddy’s speech last night and Biden’s speech tomorrow. Jack is old-school Senate, and I can easily see him wanting to drop by to support two of his old Senate pals, even if they are Democrats.
Which leads to the interesting speculation part . . .
After Danforth published a NYT op-ed going after the religious right for putting the TheoCon agenda ahead of broader GOP principles, the TheoCons were out to get him. Once he expanded that column into a book a year later (Faith and Politics: How the “Moral Values” Debate Divides America and How to Move Forward Together), he’s been persona non grata in many parts of the GOP.
Missouri is going through a brutal fight up and down the ballot between TheoCons and Dems. If Danforth is even considering endorsing Obama, it would be huge news that would shake the political landscape here tremendously.
And it would really tick off Kit Bond.
For that reason alone, I’d love to hear that Danforth’s presence is something more than just wanting to hear a couple old Senate pals speak.
Why aren’t any of the speakers takin it to McCrazy. The republics aren’t going to talk about one single issue they will spend 4 days talking about that america hating crazy muslim terrorist
osamaObama. You think you saw DANFORTH at the Democratic Convention? My oh my, that definitely is interesting. And newsworthy.
Can you chase him down and get a quick interview, you think?
JA

“What’s your biggest criticism of president Bush”?
umm, that he’s breathing my air?
P.S. very tepid applause so far with the Warner speech….
So did Kerry, and so far Obama is doing the same.
I just watched Lily Ledbetter on cspan. I am really curious to find out if CNN, MSNBC, etc covered her speech.
You’re not prepared with a basket of rolled-up socks? Tsk, tsk. I fear for your TV…!
anyone beside me falling asleep watching Warner?
Yep — although none at a microphone. But lots of blogger talk about it thus far. FWIW, Jane and I saw some Code Pink folks protesting at an open air shopping mall yesterday – they were singing as we came out of the parking garage. And I saw a protester at the Convention Center today — right at the door where the delegates come in and out — she was there for at least an hour, because I went out and then came back in…
How great to tick off Bond? He’s sort of a younger McC
If all he wanted to do was listen to a couple of old Senate pals, he could have stayed at home and watched CSPAN.
Why aren’t any of the speakers takin it to McCrazy?
Many of the earlier speakers were doing just that. But you gotta watch CSpan to catch those speeches….

Sorry for all the links ((LURK)) but they are necessary!!
I knew you’d be intrigued.
P.S. very tepid
applause so far with theWarner speech….Warner is sooooo boring.
The Kucinich speech knocked it out of the ballpark…no press.
Instead, we get a boring non-charismatic keynote speaker.
Kucinich…”Wake Up America”…
Three wise words.
Warner:
“In four months we’ll have an administration that actually believes in science”
Wow Mark Warner
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbTM_jV2WFE
Yes. [snore]
Yep. But I can’t say that here ’cause I’m an anathama for asking why Michelle Obama leaves the g off of ing or pronounces men as min.
Jane is currently sitting up by him and she’s going to work on it. We’re both very interested…
The 2000 election was so close that any one of a multitude of factors might have tipped it for Gore by too large a margin to have it stolen. Not long after the SC elected Bush, Gore hosted SNL and was really FUNNY. I couldn’t help but think that if he had demonstrated BEFORE the election that he had a sense of humor, more people might have voted for him.
Is Rove running this Convention?
Warner’s construction is terrible: “Barack Obama also knows this: America is a nation that needs leaders.”
Just a terrible way to express yourself, imo
anyone beside me falling asleep watching Warner?
nope. I can’t wait to see whether he can top Evan Bayh’s speech of 2000 as The. Worst. Keynote. Ever.
Danforth may be there in his capacity as Partner at Bryan Cave – the 35th largest practice on the planet
If it was John Danforth
it could mean that he is about to announce some sort of endorsement. Remember that Danforth resigned as UN Ambassador when Condi became Secretary of State, and since that time he has become increasingly vocal about how the Republican Party has been taken over by extremists and fundamentalists.
He’s possibly someone who could help the Democrats win over people in Missouri if he endorsed Obama.
I don’t have much respect for Danforth – he was Clarence Thomas’s sponsor for SC. Nuff said.
What?
Peterr @ 31 — you’re seeing a potential Danforth sighting with the same sort of calculus that I am. Outsider that he is in the GOP these days, despite his role in the Justice Thomas nonsense and in Reagan’s funeral, he actually might find more common ground with the Democrats.
He’s a good man. One of the vanishingly few Republicans for whom I can dredge up any respect at all.
JA
Asheville, NC
Wonderful. Thanks, Christy.
. . .and was Warner Amway or Herbalife before he sought office ? jaysus, thought he was gonna make us mad, not drowsy
why is Warner talking about Warner?
No — I think the old parish priest in Danforth would think of appearing personally here (especially for Kennedy) like making a pastoral visit on someone in the hospital. “Sure, I could pick up the phone, and we could laugh and joke and get serious and pray together, but that’s not the same as being there in person.”
Thanks for the tip.
Figures the f’in repuke media would only show what they see fit. If I hear Pat Buchanan one more time I’ll have to throw the nearest object at my teevee.
I have to think Wes Clark could have done better than this. On the plus side, Warner would make anyone following him look much better by comparison.
Oh yeah.
*g*
Gotta check the MO papers and blogs to see if anyone else has something on this. . .
Possibly for a similar reason that people who live there say “Long Gisland” and send congresscritters to “Warshington.”
I distinctly remember him not rocking the house at the YKos 1 convention. Ya think they would have gotten the hint. In front of a crowd of true believers he was . . . . . well, you can see for yourselves.
Well, he’s no Kucinich.
Start here and do control f on eCAHN.
http://firedoglake.com/2008/08…..g-swim-10/
Damn, Peterr -I go to hunt up the link to his editorial and get pipped at the post. You readers of FDL are really quick, you know. Best informed folks on the web!
Warner said there would be parts of his speech people might not like. I gather he was referring to the beginning and everything that followed.
Maybe this is more apprpriate
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T91X2c3jL7o
get the Hook !!
Mark Warner made it very clear in an interview I read that he wouldn’t be throwing red meat to the base. “I am a job applicant” is the way he put it — running for the Senate in Virginia. He didn’t mention that he is about 30 points ahead of former governor Jim Gilmore, who ran for president this year too.
Seems to me that margin gives a fellow a chance to throw some red meat. But he styles himself a “radical centrist” — which sounds to me like everything that’s wrong with the Democratic party.
Make Warner stop…pleeeeease….all he’s doing is making his “own” campaign speech.
Whoever put this Convention together….obviously a bunch of clueless dorks, with mostly clueless dorks speaking.. and they could cost us this election, and…if we lose this election….goodbye USA.
Kucinich and Jesse Jackson Jr. have made the best speeches outside of Teddy and Michelle.
My mom said Warshington. Took about half a century to figure out what it was all about.
Thanks.
That was a great speech, especially the part where it ended.
Well, it’s good to know that if I’m ever in need of a soporific all I have to do is fire up a YouTube of a Warner speech…
Bayh still a narrow leader, imo, in the competition for Worst Keynote Ever.
But it was a nail-biter. heh.
The end of Warner’s speech was pretty good, as in thank God, it’s finally over.
Bless you, Christy. Bless you, Jane, Marcy and the rest of the FDL faithful for being there and providing us with more than just the kabuki show we are seeing on TV. Wish I could be there “marchin’ and a’carrying signs” as Steven Stills so aptly put it. But alas, work and an impending deadline has once again made it impossible. Wish you all the best; enjoy your time there.
Yep.
I cheated — I’ve got it bookmarked.
CHRISTY!
I missed ye!
hehe
You guys know who I’d love to see speak here, and be forceful and honest and NAIL EM????!
Governor Seigleman!!!
Now would that rock and cinch a few voters or WHAT???
I don’t think the technology is capable of capturing his charisma, or finding it, for that matter.
I guarantee you that Deval Patrick will be good if not great. At least from the time I spent watching him in MA as he ran for Gov. He has the fire if he chooses to turn it on—if they let him.
You are welcome — there have also been a few parades down one of the main streets near the blogger tent venue — down 15th street. I just haven’t been able to get out to do coverage because I’ve had so much else going on. But it has not been all confined to the free speech zones — there hasn’t been a lot outside it, but it has been something I’ve seen around town. There were also Code Pink folks outside protesting when we were trying to get in to cover the AT&T Blue Dog party.
In Baltimore they call it WEREshington.
Cause he has a senate race.
Was she from Long Gisland? Peter was raised there and STILL says “Warshington.” Drives me wiggy…
OT
We got beat tonight by a DINO.
Bob Hackworth (DINO) – 46.66% – 10341
Max Linn (LINN) – 24.37% – 5401
Samm Simpson (D) – 28.97% – 6419
Turnout – a pathetic, pitiful 12.3% county wide
At least we beat the guy (Linn) who spent a half-million of his own money.
Campaign over, back to the streets full time.
Hearing Warner and Strickland speak really makes Biden seem like an inspired choice for VP. I’m certain Bayh would have a similar effect.
There’s a long tradition at DNCCs of boring keynoters. I recall very clearly when the 1988 keynote speaker said “In conclusion….” at the end of a MUCH longer and more boring speech than Warner’s and the audience cheered wildly.
At the next DNCC, four years later, he was the nominee.
Of course, Barack Obama was the 2004 keynoter, and his speech was transcendent.
Ann Richards? Barbara Jordan? Mario Cuomo? We’ve had some great ones. Not this year.
I’m certain Bayh would have a similar effect.
Hey, that’s my Senator you’re talking about.
fuck.
“Red meat” for the crowd. I think I am getting tired of this commentator expression.
Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones being commemorated… she and Barbara Boxer stood up to certify the complaint about Ohio 2004 election shenanigans. A strong and honorable woman.
In 2000 20 House reps contested the SC decision against recount, but NOT ONE SENATOR came forward on behalf of Gore. Gore won popular vote by 600,000, lost by 4 electoral votes, 21 of them went from Florida to Bush which he won by only about 900 votes in all of Florida thanks to corruption and Jeb Bush’s Katherine Harris and SC partisanship.
Just been reading about this. Sorry to delve into history but can’t get hyped up by this convention. Too much injustice and corruption has gone down.
Oy.
Dagnabit, I hate it when I miss the exciting threads….
could warner have been any duller? no sparks or denunciation of bushco… what is going on?????
If it had been Bayh, I would have had to bring No Doz.
Rachel is quite exorcised about Warner’s speech — “He did not take one nick out of the GOP tonight.”
Gene R sez he’s waiting for someone to take the podium and say the word “Torture” or the word “Surveillance.”
Rev Peter -
nothing about Danforth over at Firedup Missouri (Jean’s in Denver)
Good line for Strickland—George came into office on 3rd base and stole second.
did anyone see Olbermann and Matthews earlier? There seemed to be a greek chorus behind them. Rachel fans? or Keithies?
the rachel panel is sooo much livelier
eCAHN- there are lots of regional accents in the US. The only place where people don’t have regional accents is SoCal. ;)
Strickland:
“George W. Bush entered office on third base and immediately stole second. With John McCain cheering him every step of the way.”
Keynote??? This thing should have been at 8 am.
My mom was from Johnstown, PA. Figuring it out involved all kinds of ethnic and other issues not relevent to national discussion, except in my small field.
BTW, my watermelon appearing opportunisitic vine turned out to be watermelon appearing gourds. Such a dissapointment.
Danforth on Obama, from the KC Star back in May:
FiredUp! Missouri also notes that last June, Danforth was elected to be an at-large MO delegate to the GOP convention.
*sniff, sniff*
Oh well. It doesn’t look like Danforth is trying to stick it to Bond and Co.
But still, that was back in June . . .
Break time
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v…..&NR=1
LOL
That’s very disappointing, SD.
Meet ya in the streets! Fer sure.
DW
Michelle on PBS interview…looks great, very courteous, aligned about HRC
Very strange choice for keynote in the most important election probably ever. If they think that “boring” somehow appeals to the middle of the road voters, they are sorely mistaken…quite the opposite…the centrist voters will go with something strong that moves them to vote, boredom moves them, and it moved me to “mute”.
Why is Giuliani in the convention center? He was interviewed by CNN while Tammy Baldwin was speaking. I mentioned it in the last thread but was epued.
Dya think
Rachel should have Buchanan on frequently when she gets up and running.
For all the wacky shit he brings, they have a certain thing – taking a pick-axe to Democrats weakness from both sides is amazing to watch.
That would be so very very cool, Christy, if you could get an interview with Ms. Ledbetter.
Invite her here.
There would be warm welcome, muffins, hugz and cheers, and she would find another home,
HERE, at The Lake!
this is horrible.
Keynote??? This thing should have been at 8 am.
Maybe they could call Dennis Kucinich up for an encore?
WTF? CBS has clips from the rethug 2004 convention and next up an interview with Mittens.
Apparently didn’t get the memo: This is the Democratic Convention!
Rats. I was planning on watermelon sorbet!
they know who pays their bills.
Bite your tongue he doesn’t decide to reprise that precedent….
They got the memo alright, and it was on creamy WH stationary.
free speech. privacy. reparations for iraqis…
… just dreaming.
Howie’s Alan Grayson victory post
You kidding? Fer sure. Must be. Like, there is too! I’m from the Valley, ya know? We talk, like, ohmagod, sooooo different. :)
They don’t have to be so damn transparent about it!
no, no, no, no – the question is: how do you square yourself as a man of god and support a war mongering shill like McKept who does not “love all the little children” and cares not a wit about poverty, healthcare, or education – ya know, that least among us thing ?!?!?!?
well, this was billed as “Hillary’s Night”.
Nobody in any danger of stealing any of the “juice” in the room yet.
So far, maybe this should be billed as “The Way Under-Caffeinated Democratic Convention of 2008″….?
That’s what I was just thinking.
The whole repupublican media is there so why not.
Drive-by:
When some asshole suggests that raising taxes was Warner’s coup d’etat, why doesn’t some intelligent person on the panel reply with something like: “It’s all about fiscal responsibility – ya know like paying your fucking bills when they’re due so you don’t lose your fucking house, or owe your fucking soul to the Chinese or something to that effect.” You know, I would never give my checkbook to my teenager. Like…DUH!!!!
Why aren’t we POUNDING them on their fiscal IRRESPONSIBILITY???
Anyone?
And what is Gergen doing on the teevee still?
I think he’s drinking heavily.
;~P
Um, well watermelon sorbet could be arranged, with some major quick delivery vehicle. As a former research assistent of mine said, “Let me see what I can do.”
Here’s a great link to Dennis Kucinich’s speech at the convention tonight!!
WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSANhkGjdAY
Today’s theme is the economy. Tomorrow is foreign policy and security.
I’ve not seen Deval Patrick speak before — he’s doing a good job.
This was my third campaign. Don’t think I’ll do it again. Much rather be out with the protesters, gettin’ arrested an’ shit. Had to mind my p’s and q’s as an officer of the campaign. Not any more.
Deval repeating a lot of his own stump speech from when he ran for gov. except with much less fire than he had then. He’s a very powerful presence face to face.
fuck this centrist crap.
Somebody go grab Sheldon Whitehouse and let him educate the country as to just what the fuck has been going on in this country for the last eight years!
Dja spect Ds to react reasonably. Perhaps you’re more naive than I am.
This convention is fun after five glasses of wine
A lot of people will be asleep when HRC speaks and will be subject to reports based on pukey interpretations of it tomorrow. Morning Joe should be just thrilling…
The planners of this Convention s*ck.
Know why CA girls take two birth control pills? To be fer sure, fer sure.
Dennis was excellent.
Now ABC has George Will pontification in his pompous style! Never thought they could make PBS and Bobo look good, but here we are.
Well, I can report that the restrooms are mercifully close to the blogger room. My thanks to whomever did that logistical planning…
Hear, Here!!!!!
six
And yet despite this it has been surprisingly unfocused.
so far tonight? a giant snooze-fest!!
A vast crowd of about 25 had gathered in Denver’s Cheesman Park at 6:15 to watch Hillary’s speech. They had a big screen and everything. I wonder if they’re still there? It’s a little dark to be hanging out at the city’s premier cruising spot.
Give that he’s a self-confessed adulterer. Just cause he’s a blind Afro-american gov, doesn’t mean he has cred. Have no reason to diss him, as a NYSer, but that doesn’t give him creds. He remains to be proved.
Would somebody please steal his toupe
just poured my first. Was working earlier tonight.
lots of catching up to do.
Rachel was going crazy after the key note. “Talk about torture. Mention Cheney. Domestic Surveillance etc”
To be fair, for those watching cspan, they are criticizing repubs, it’s just not being shown on the networks.
The “pumas” … party unity my ass? Hillary’s cougar types.. older women. “No we won’t.” ???? RNC threw a party for them last night? What is story on this? Been out of the loop.
Depends on the candidate.
I actually liked Warner’s speech- it should have been clear that he wasn’t going to crucify goopers- he’s running for office in a state with a gooper majority.
The heart of it needed amplification though–”contrary to what goopers say- it’s lifting of the least of us that lifts up the rest of us”
He didn’t exactly say it that way- but it was his message.
CSpan firedogs, CSpan
Live Stream for the cable challenged
Yes. It is time.
It is also the place to be.
For the forseeable future; regardless.
I appreciate your ready willingness and the understandings that go with it.
Verra much, SD.
If we’re lucky it’ll crawl away on it’s own…
Cheesman! Been there, what fun!
The Dems are going to lose this election unless someone stands up and starts the following:
Attack, Attack, Attack.
Do it Now!!!
I’m sooo tired (work nights, CSPAN is addictive this week!), but I wanted to watch (((Dennis))))YEAH, he ROCKED and Hillary, so no sleep today…lol
I have to say this is as lame as I remember the last rethug convention being.
Sad. There’s so much to get mad at and our folks are just too too polite.
The COUNTRY IS ON FIRE!!!! DO SOMETHING!!!
The RNC tried to do a media blip by throwing a party for supposed Hillary supporters…who didn’t show. It was a dud. We were thinking about going over to drink their free liquor and mock them, but we didn’t want to give them any reason to say more people attended.
Is that Rodney Dangerfield?
No, wait… It’s Brian Schweitzer
Not bad.
“Thank you for tuning in tonight folks, to Night Two of The Democratic Convention of 2008, sponsored by Ambien”
That’s great. Sometimes the things we think the least about can become the most important!
Gov from Montana is doing great…Hitting some great points.
Would some one please tell me how much they loved my link at 113 I worked hard to find that
The story on PUMAs is the TradMed is trying to make something out of nothing. Surprisingly enough, Chuck Todd on MSNBC.com has been fairly consistently calling bullsh*t on this, pointing out that there are far more “PUMA” types in the Republican Party with the disaffected Ron Paul voters.
But the TradMed has the theme that Hillary voters won’t let go and they can’t let THAT go, no matter how wrong it is.
Ride through there every day. The Jewel of Capitol Hill, the beating heart of Liberal Denver. Always something happening.
I hope Hillary is in a “cone of silence.” If she’s listening to this, she’ll still be groggy when she hits the podium.
Is Gergen on CNN – am glued to MSNBC thanks to KO and the hope Rachel will appear sooner than later.
it’s on c-span radio also. i’m streaming through itunes.
you are sooooo right LS. and everyone who’s said that very thing.
now get THIS!
would it not be VERY KEWL if “hil” actually got those cannons firing here in about 4 minutes??
wouldn’t it be awesome if she opened up all PERSONS ON DECK NOW, total attack mode.
it’s not like she can’t do it, we all saw that.
I;d LOVE to see her just get ALL Hillary on them and jump and tear for the juggler, like we saw her do to Obama. TONIGHT! NOW!!
CHANGE the whole tone and message here and decry the thefts, the brutality, the stupidity and the atrocities of the last 8 years.
Now, would that rock or no???????
Montana is hitting this out of the ballpark over the whole energy thing.
Hey NPB!
You should watch the replay of Rachel peeling Warner like a grape!
Beautiful.
Ledbetter’s speech televised on CSPAN was excellent. Lively, interesting, good speaker and a real salt of the earth type. She should seek public office. I was very impressed with Ledbetter. From the posts here, I surmise that she was not shown on MSNBC.
LOL!
we should all send Christy a baa baa of her favorite imbibage for that!
LOL>
great call, Christy.
and great post!!!!!
That was a good line, “-the most important barrel of oil is the one you don’t use.”
Is this the “shoot yourself in the foot” convention???? WTF is going on??? Is this the “prepare to fail convention”????
We are soooo screwed.
Gotta admit that I’ve not seen a lot of real inspirational speaking aside from Michelle last night, and Kuch today.
No real oratory, no fire and brimstone rabble rousing convention floor shattering leading of the audience, and the audience talking and muttering thru it all like the main stage was a side show . . . .
I sure expected a LOT more from this audience, moment by moment . . . and I DON’T buy that the lack of energy is due to the PUMA nonsense . . . that’s MSM complicity for what is essentially a GOP Rovian strategy . . . the founder of PUMA never gave HRC a dime I’ve read, but gave to BushKo and McCain . . . . so the whole HRC wounded bird song falls on MY deaf ears . . .
Here’s hoping HRC lights it up and ends the MSM’s ability to spin the ‘divisions’ of the so called 18 Million voters who aren’t really PUMA’s . . .
Oops, Montana Gov is hitting hard and on point…
He’s enjoying himself.
“Are the Clintons REALLY for Obama?”
Seems to be a more important question than “What is the meaning of life?”
These fuckers need to go to a creativity conference!
thanks. seems i’m missed all the good ones.
Yes… Gergag on CNN
MSNBC – something shiny
brb
Best line of the day:
Goddess, I hope so!!!
If Hillary is still pissed about her candidacy, she might just as well take it out tonight on McCane. It would be good for her soul.
Best line of the evening thus far: Gov. Schweitzer of Montana: “If you drill for oil in all of John McCain’s back yards, even the ones he doesn’t know he has.” (The blogger room erupts in laughter at that one…)
Ha.
Sorry your recent campaign experience was less that fabulous. Prolly would be more fun to protest and go to jail, and stuff. Hell, might even meet a dfl who’s looking for a smart guy with a ponytail. Could happen.
I’m loving it…
You bet me to it! GREAT line.
Turn the tide!!!!
As am I, for the very same reasons Peterr cited. Have not forgotten that NYT op-ed, wondered frequently if Danforth could be the kind of Repub co-chair on a truth-and-reconciliation committee that we could trust.
Other roles come to mind as well, in an Obama administration.
Ok, Schweitzer is starting to light it up!!
Nice!!! STAND UP!!!!
Petro Dictators….
Love that one!!!
Montana Gov. now playing Howard Dean 2004
this guy from Montana is interrupting my nap.
He’s talking craziness, though. What’s all this alternative energy and American innovation crap? OIL OIL OIL OIL OIL!!!!!
(((((newtonusr))))) – many thanks – can’t wait to catch the replay!
I think Gov Schweitzer should have made the key note…
LOL! I was really shocked when I came back to GA after a visit to CA and a friend who’s from CA said- you’ve gotten back your CA accent. Accent? What accent!
YEAH, great job…Montana…
Got the last 15 seconds of the Montana guy- I’ve seen him on teevee a couple of times before and always liked him.
Bill C. looking genuinely amused.
Holy shit I just saw Michele O and Bill Clinton
The Democracy Now story with Jane and Greenwald was presented after an interview with the author of (IIRC) Why You Can’t Be president, by the Harper’s magazine (IIRC) editor. What a story he told.
Clinton’s want Obama to fail to be elected so Hills can run in 2012 on the I told You So Platform.
This is the correct swiftboat ad.
Hillary film looking good.
rumours say SCOTUS – has a sickeningly realistic, ‘bygones’ air to it X~(
you and I were talking about him over a year ago – like he was one of the few still sane and outraged republicans . . .and now look what he’s done, endorsed (and probably fell for ) McKept
I like the Clintons—always have- even when Bill got his blow job.
what’s this tribute??
ugly idea to elevate kay bailey to a national stage. we saw how that worked out with 43.
We were thinking about going over to drink their free liquor and mock them,
You could have a big future in politics, Christy…
I’ve had a lot of opponents (on the athletic field) but was always able to join em for a beer and a good time after the game…
So may it be with Obama and the Clintons.
payola and a prayer—that she gets with the program and shows everyone else the way to do so also.
Somebody said don’t sing Hillary. I can relate to that – when I was in basic the drill sergeant said “everybody singout except for you G–”
. . .lots of natural gas fields in Montana – unfortunately most is being run and profited by Pan Canadian – jes sayin’
That’ll be the day.
She only supported Bush on Everything….I think she called the lies about Plame a “technicality” (either that or something very similar)
Not too hard to read Bill’s mind as he watches Hill.
Interesting that Lilly Ledbetter said that Obama would work to insure equal pay for equal work. The Harper’s guy leaned hard on Obama’s Centrism, Chicago/Daley machine chops, backpedalling on Iraq withdrawal and noted that Obama did not stand up for workers wage battles in Chicago b/c the Chicago/Daley machine would not have liked that.
HRC speech thread upstairs
Michelle and Biden side by side
I had reservations about elevating the notion to the FDL stage by typing it.
I have always liked the Clintons, too but I have to say I will be glad for them to go back to their regular jobs now. They were very poor, ungracious losers and it hurt the party and gave talking points to the other side.
The nauseating Hillary-bashing by NBC ”News” is remarkable even for Brian Williams and Tom Brokaw, exceeding even its ceaseless trivia-ating, like telling us the governor of Montana prefers western string ties to TV-colored silk ones. Someone in the media world doesn’t seem to like the Clintons, or the Democrats for that matter. I wonder whether its coverage of the Mini Maverick’s convention will be as ”fair and balanced”.
And who doesn’t think Chelsea won’t be a top elected official in fifteen years’ time?
Thanks… radio station am listening to making big deal of them. Thought it might be like that.
Thanks….. media is amazing how they will push, push, push. one woman doing McCain work … a puma I guess…. gets her 15 minutes.
Great speech by Hillary, she really nailed it. Any of her supporters who don’t accept her call to support Obama now, in my opinion, must have other motives besides the welfare of this nation.
