I’m a little puzzled by some of the hand-wringing about the tone of the convention last night. I’ve argued that the Democrats need to attack this week, but last night wasn’t the time to do it.
Ted Kennedy’s seriously ill, and you don’t trot him out on that podium to hit McSame with gotchas and zingers. You don’t ask Michelle Obama, who right-wing assholes are still caricaturing as an angry America hater, to use her speech to deliver political attacks.
My favorite moment of the night was the interplay between Obama and his adorable little girls. You can’t build up to that moment with a night of "John McSame suxxxxx!!1!!11!!"
Now it’s arguable that Pelosi’s "and John McCain is wrong" refrain wasn’t forceful enough, and there’s been a mixed reaction to Claire McCaskill’s speech, who also got some nice partisan digs in. But the cable news networks only aired a handful of other speeches, including Craig Robinson and Caroline Kennedy, and none of them were naturals to really go after the GOP and McSame.
So how do I know the Democrats won the night? Look at the lineup that the GOP is trotting out their first night:
- U.S. Sen. Joseph Lieberman (Conn.)
- Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (Calif.)
- Vice President Richard B. Cheney
- First Lady Laura Bush
- President George W. Bush
I rest my case.
The 70% of Americans who hate George W. Bush and Dick Cheney will tune in and be reminded that John McSame is in the same noxious party as these two losers. And the more Bush and Cheney embrace McSame, the worse a night it will be for him. They’re pretty much screwed.
Democrats 1, Goopers 0.
(PS.
Having said all that, I hope HRC delivers a monumental smackdown on McSame tonight.)

So it’s official that JoeLie is gonna speak at the Repub convention?
Hi, BT
Thanks for the first nighters of the Repub convention. Now I won’t have to eat breakfast. That’s just awful and they will bore the nation to tears.
Ahnold can address all of the economic girly men
Let us also note, for good measure, that a large of the media Villager’s who are bemoaning the fact that the Democrats ruined their first night of the convention by NOT attacking McCain are the same Villager’s that spend most of the waking day lamenting the “bitter, partisan tone in Washington”.
They are just so transparent they don’t realize how foolish they look to anyone who can remember events of more than a week ago.
Last night the man who’s been a rightwing bogeyman since I have been following politics, Teddy K., was shown to be a brave fighter, a warm and loving family patriarch, a skilled sailor, and a survivor among a family of political martyrs. Also Michelle Obama was shown to be a great speaker, a loving wife and mother and model of American success. Thus destroying the image for many the childish stereotype of a whitey hating Black Panteress.
A fine night indeed.
-G
This will clearly help McSame. I’m not sure how. But I’m sure Fox News does.
Oh, come on. How can the Republics lose on a night when Pickles is speaking?
Will Arnold remind them that he does everything he can to not seem like Bush?
Is there any coverage of the other rethug convention across town
Did anyone see Ann Richards at the ‘88 convention, I think she was the keynote speaker, (I may have that wrong but it was her 1988 speech)?
Wow! She was magnificent. I always loved her, but that speech was such a reminder of why. I’m hoping to see that magnitude and class at the convention this year when it IS time to hit McKept. She slammed codpiece but did so with dignity and humor. Unbelievable that Dukakis didn’t win that one. And destructive to the nation as a result.
Yes, but please don’t tell Harry Reid. He’s too busy with his head up his ass to notice.
Mike, it’s on CSpan right now.
Greg:
The first night is fine, as long as the rest of the time is spent tearing the bark off McCain. Did you know that McSame has appeared on Leno thirteen times now(counting last night)? And yet he tries to claim Obama is the celebrity. People have a distorted view of McCain because of the love “his base” has for him. It’s time people are told about the real McCain. And it should get started tonight.
What are Mr. Noun, Verb & 9/11 and Mittens doing? Being dumb as usual?
So does McCain trot out some great grandchildren to one-up the Obama children? Maybe Cindy will run out and adopt 3 cute kids for the convention.
Dukakis refused to hit back, so he lost.
I know that Hillary is speaking tonight – do we know who else is speaking today?
Or maybe some biker-girls!
Hi BT.
Thanks for the rundown. I missed the early speakers last night. Sounds as if I didn’t miss much. Dear Ted and Michelle were golden. Wouldn’t have missed them for the world.
And, YES, both Michelle and Barack Obama with those sweet little girls?
Priceless!
forgive me. i shall not watch the repugs’ version next week except probably to gloat and smirk if someone puts together a classic yootoob from the trainwreck that is their party these days.
Stay Classy Pickles !
It’s not about winning.
It’s about inspiring. Kennedy and Michelle did a lot of inspiring last night.
They appealed to the very best in us.
The Republicans always manage to appeal to the very worst in us, as Billmon says: to our amygdalas, the area involved in aggression.
Time for everyone to decide what kind of country they want, and what kind of democracy they want to foster.
If we decide that we are going to feed on our hopes and work for true change, we can then work on getting the next President and the Congress out of the pockets of the lobbyists.
The children were adorable last night.
See the Swim below.
It obviously wasn’t the night to attack McBush–that will come of course…Pelosi just wasn’t up to her job as a stir the pot attack dog- she doesn’t project energy—Michelle could do it!!
I thought it was a great night for democrats….that is….it was a night that renewed the connection of many democrats to their party- I know it did that for me….
It IS important to get some prime time broadsides into the McBush would be ship of state- but there’s plenty of time for that.
How good was the first night when bozos like Loretta sanchez are
are on the morning shows looking like they did a little of the hair of the beast that bit you
saw loretta sanchez on msnbc dan abrams…
She reduced what ‘respecting Hillary supporters’ means
PAY DOWN HER DEBT.
hmm. how does that help her supporters.
BTW Fox news has the pool and I must say the extreme close ups suck and the TV work is terrible
And it seems like the TV pundits are saying we’ll only cover speeches that attack McCain or Hillary
Loretta… you’re making me miss Bob Dornin
I KNEW he was crazy..what about you?
Was watching Amy Goodman and missed it
Ann Richards, Molly Ivins. Yes. They both will be greatly missed.
I’m grateful for the video and print records that remain to remind all just how great they were.
Yes, but please don’t tell Harry Reid. He’s too busy with his head up his ass to notice.
well, fuck ‘em both, and the horses
that scare Georgie shitlessthey rode in on.hmmm, that was a looong time ago – what’s the average life-span of a horse?
From what I’m reading it sounds like the PUMAs are going to do Hillary a lot of harm. She can’t seem to stop them and I do believe that she is trying at this point. She has sense enough to know that their actions will only hurt HER in the end.
In re: networks…. I’m pretty much sticking with C-Span and the toobes.
Not in a mood to be aggravated by nitwits who babble over the speeches and butt in with commercials. I’ll take my convention straight, thanks. ;->
I’m bored to death with the manufactured Hillary/Obama story line. The media, afraid of having nothing interesting to report, are making it the centerpiece of their convention coverage…
It’s bullshit.
She has sense enough to know that their actions will only hurt HER in the end.
Wonder if there’s a way that HRC can communicate that to them tonight, in a code-word kinda way…..?
amen! CSpan – stirred but not shakin’ :D
Democracy now does some good stuff do you get it?
In keeping with the rove playbook the talk is all about the “divided Demo party” because there are serious rifts in the republican party
They seem to be the very definition of fanatics – people who continue to fight after they have forgotten what the original cause was. They should stop now – in fact, they should have stopped before they made themselves look like idiots on tv. I don’t know if she can stop them – with code words or anything else.
agreed. good point.
Maybe McCain is trying to get the bad news out of the way first or giving Joe a chance to bomb so that Joe’s backers understand why he won’t be VP.
Full Tuesday schedule here.
Rachel Maddow was refreshing to watch last night. Olbermann called himself a sycophant.
My take is that the major reason some Hillary supporters won”t support Obama has nothing at all to do with Hillary. It has everything to do with the color of Obama’s skin and there’s not a damned thing he can do about it (except to surround himself with pictures of his white mother and grandmother). His step sister is going to speak on his behalf- maybe that will do it.
The Hillary wars are a major distraction.
Just had a rare occasion to glance through the NYT dead tree edition, and Michelle Obama’s speech was a minor part of the coverage, behind Kennedy stories and the made-up and overblown Clinton “problem.” Couldn’t even find a picture of Michelle at first, but eventually found one of her run-through on page 15. Just Teddy on the cover.
Having watched it, and everyone I was with saying this, and 98% of the comments last night on various blogs all saying as well, that it was one of the best convention moments they can remember, seems strange. Doesn’t fit the carefully constructed false narrative about her and Democrats, so wouldn’t want to knock down the house of cards I guess. What time was she done in EST? Can’t imagine the NYT deadline is before midnight. Dunno…
I would imagine rather than trying to use some sort of unreadable/indecipherable code, she’ll come right out and tell them to STFU and get with the program.
Of course, at the same time there will most likely be large numbers of Hillary haters who will proclaim that she didn’t go far enough, no matter she says or how she says it.
If she ever does run again, it’ll be a cold day in hell before I mark a ballot for her! And I’m gettin’ *real* tired of any politician claiming they can’t control their supporters (prime example: bush 3.0). If a politician can’t exert that kind of damage control, they. are. not. fit to be in office. Maybe that’s an extreme and unrealistic viewpoint but hill/bill *are* responsible to a degree for the puma attitude.
Thanks, Peterr. I like the lineup. I’m glad that Leahy is speaking.
If that’s the channel that has Amy Goodman, yes – at least for awhile. Thyme wanna keeps trying to change the game of access, sigh.
Besides, as a former political burnout (it never goes away, so be careful folks), I find it wise to ration my exposure to total aggravation.
Screaming fits ain’t purty on PUMAS or “more seasoned” ladies such as meself, heh.
Thanks for the tip. I’ll surf around and see what we’ve got (dealing with totally new machine at the moment after older tv caught a whiff of the PUMAs or somethin’ and started pouring out smoke. I kid you not ;->)
Maybe Arnold can talk about his states housing crisis or the trouble he is having balancing his state’s budget. What ever happened to that weird thing Arnold was trying to do and lower state workers pay to the minimum wage?
Or we can wonder just what chance Arnold has of giving California to McCain?
why?
Arnold will simply blame the Democrats since they control the legislature.
Can’t remember where I saw it, but some bloggers checked out who some of these people are that speaking too Conglomerate Media about being PUMAs, and sho nuff, several who have been all over TV don’t have any Dem background at all and some even work for PR agencies that do work for Repubes. It’s largely a carefully crafted false story, and the Conglomerate Media is happy to give them as much airtime as they want.
Sure, there are probably some Harriet Christians still, but they are a very small percentage. There’s always a certain amount of Dems at the convention who are still pushing for another candidate on symbolic grounds.
McC’s chances of taking Ca are between slim and none IMO
Saw Maria Shriver in the audience without hubby at the Dem convention. Must be weird having a such a sycophantic Repuke as a hubbie. Maybe not. Life is strange.
In defense of the dead tree brigade– it would be hard to capture what happened during that speech without playing video—to just repeat the words doesn’t capture it- and if you get into evaluating it- well then you move to the “analysis” page.
It was incredible- but ya kinda had to be there.
Aboslutley HRC needs to take the baton from Ann Richards and kick that fucker to the curb. Yes I have a license for metaphors.
She’s a smart gal and a savvy politician. I’d expect she herself will have to be the one to stop that nonsense, and she’s got enough skill at her command that she’ll surely find a way.
One wonders just how many PUMA-ites are truly Dems, and how many are actually trying to create mayhem among Dems so-as to help the hapless repugs.
Nawwwww! Ya think? ;->
He lavished praise on Michelle Obama. And it was somewhat over the top.
I’d like to think Olbermann (did he really say that about himself?) is trying to atone for the tap dance over FISA to accomodate Camp Obama. Olbermann is shreds for me, too much Newsweak. Can’t watch him any more. There’s only Colbert.
He, like many other intelligent folks, loves him some Rachel Maddow.
Arnie’s been pretty middle of the road lately and for the most part has worked well with the democrats in the State Assembly.
The budget bullshit is a problem EVERY year because it requires a 2/3 majority to pass- so goopers can roadblock it. Arnie was using a little power play of his own to get some traction- but I don’t think it worked very well.
I wouldn’t want to be in his position at budget time.
Call me crazy but when someone is as unpopular as George Bush shouldn’t McCain’s political consultants be telling John to run away from him as fast as possible?
We all know that the Democratic consultants would.
If 70% of the people are against the war, well just what numbers make a McCain victory possible?
Any thought of comments about, remarks anent, or oblique references to the nut wing of the political spectrum convening in Minnesota (bless their stony hearts!) should be dropped posthaste to avoid poisoning the proceedings in Denver this week. Save the mudslinging for the campaign trail. This should be about the Democratic party, the country’s future on its watch, and its leading candidate.
Quite frankly I wanted to see fiery speeches (which Teddy delivered to a certain measure), more talk of policy change. Instead I saw the banal “he’s a good husband, father. He represents hope and change.” I kind of shut my ears during the Pelosi speech. Booooring.
Any word on the who or when of McCain’s VP?
Olbermann’s words were something like, “I’m sounding like a sycophant, so I’ll stop talking now.”
State politics aside, he’s still this monstrous repuke figurehead nationally.
Only 60% are against the war- and the war has sunk on the list of priorities.
McCain can’t completely run away from Bush- as 70% of goopers still love the little pervert- and some of em have a lot of money.
One of the numbers that make a McBush victory possible—-perhaps 15% of dems will not vote for a black man for president.
The national gooper party would be forced to abandon him if what he is doing and saying in “CALL-E-FORNYA” was given more press. He sounds a lot like a dem- and not even a blue dogger.
Hopefully not Lieberman. Holy Joe and McInsane should never get anywhere near the football.
I wish Barack’s sister had a more prominent time:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jws_HPW1rtE
If Michelle Obama had delivered a fiery speech full of zingers and such all we would be hearing today is “How dare she?” and “Angry black woman” used pretty much interchangeably.
KO was acting kind of uncomfortable and strange for the brief time I saw him last night. As if his head was practically exploding with a whole lotta stuff he was dying to say, but knew wouldn’t be “wise” to utter at just that moment.
He pairs with Tweety only by having to endure some obvious discomfort. imo Causes mught be multiple. Who knows?! He’s a bright, complicated guy, and Tweety, even at his best, reminds me of a barely controlled Husky dawg panting and yanking the leash & trying to run in circles. go figure.
gotta go for now – trusty little old car needs some tlc.
Nice to know all you wonderful doggies are on guard.
Would some kind soul please send Larry King a lump of coal for me? thnx!
P. E. A. C. E.
In 2004 there was only two speeches that were worth watching, Barack and the rev Al Sharpton who went off message
It’s not up to the potential first lady to deliver zingers. At least not traditionaly. I was speaking of other speakers.
McCains birthday present on friday
McCains birthday present on friday
Willard, in his ’special underwear’, with a bow tied around his neck?
I did the most amazing thing last night. I watched the convention on CSAN and thoroughly enjoyed it. The same way I watched Iowa. No talking heads, no commercial just a visual that made you feel like you were there. I wanted to watch Rachel Maddow but I just couldn’t stand the rest of them.
I totally agree with Blue Texan on the handwringing. I felt the media’s anst about why, why, why weren’t the attack dogs loosed the first night were from a media who isn’t satisfied unless there is blood in the water at every event.
I enjoyed all the speakers not just the “stars.” I loved Obama’s sister, Michelle’s brother and the city clerk from Chicago and all the every day people who came to speak. The Town Hall Meeting felt fake but luckily it was short. They all sounded like they were shouting at one another. Nancy Pelosi was a little rough because she kept reading her speech and you could see her eyes doing it. Loved the music and videos. Sorry they didn’t let Jimmy Carter speak at the podium but I really enjoyed his video.
Loved Kennedy and Michelle. Kennedy rallied the troops and Michelle nailed her speech. The kids were adorable and I think it was a great night. It made me want to get out and help the campaign.
I also DVR’d the NBC broadcast at 10:00. I was really amazed at how much they left out. You didn’t get a sense of the convention during that broadcast. I’m definitely watching the rest of it on CSPAN.
I thought Al Sharpton’s speech rocked.
Census dept says that $1 mm more americans have health insurance this year- Rice says she has a chance to get peace in the middle east by the end of the clusterfuck term….
Clusterfuck at it again lyin to the american people for political reasons.
interesting
I’m with TBogg
dear gaia yes
Missed Kennedy last night, but I like a mix of policy and inspiration in political speeches. I liked the words of Michelle Obama’s speech, but I thought the delivery was not quite all there. And I agree that, generally, the he’s a good father/husband/brother/whatever is utterly skippable.
Yes and the surge worked
Olberman can’t decide whether he is a reporter or an “analyst”. MSNBC can’t decide either. As an analyst he would be free to opinionate all evening like Buchanan or Rachel. As a “reporter” he would need to simulate objectivity. He’s somewhere in between.
1 Million more Americans have Health insurance now huh?
Gee, I guess that just leaves only 45/46 Million of us without it then. things are really looking up.
I wonder what the numbers are of Republicans who won’t vote for McCain because he supports the war? I wonder how many solders and their families will vote against McCain for that reason.
I don’t think it was skippable at all. The American people needed to get to know them and that was the way to do it. She was great and I believe he will get a bounce just from her speech.
Somebody tell Rupert Murdoch to stop screwin’ with the MSNBC channel on my DirectTV.
Interesting- I thought that her delivery was superb. She was controlling her energy perfectly- releasing it in bursts with a pace that matched the emotional content- her enunciation was typical middle america- which was perfect- she was articulate without being professorial…What did you think was sub standard. I’m a tough grader and she got an “A” from me. I think she’s better than Obama- and so is her brother – even if he IS a beaver.
I haven’t looked at the pollings carefully lately, but it appears that the number of people who will vote primarily on Iraq is a relatively small number.
It’s looking (to most americans) that we will be out in a couple of years no matter who wins- so no big whoop—it’s the price of gas that has lots of people wigged out- but neither candidate can do a damned thing about that.
I thought it was wonderful…it was upbeat and hopeful…I got all weepy seeing Caroline Kennedy….thought Ted looked really good and gave a fabulous speech and Michelle was awesome…got all weepy again, but not in sadness. I’m so tired of hearing “danger, danger, terra, terra, terra, gloom and doom,” it was a relief to hear such upbeat positive speeches and to see the enthusiasm of the crowd. Am very tired of the grumpy old men in the Republican party. I agree that the Democrats won the first night.
Blue Texan -
can not decide if (as per Jane’s latest tweet) McKept is to announce Veep on thursday – whether that’s a good thing (for him) or not. my goodness, the nation will be watching an african american accept the nomination on the 45th anniversary of Dr King’s speech
now, I understand it would be true to republics catty bitch form, and the heathers will be all mcgog, but isn’t it kinda dicey ?
And also McCain’s way of trying to squash whatever bounce Obama and the Dems get out of their convention.
It used to be that each party/candidate stayed out of the way of the other’s convention. Now, not so much. McCain went on Leno last night, the GOPers set up their own spin center in Denver . . .
I smell desperation.
OT
http://shakespearessister.blog…..es-to.html
Cindy’s money seems to come from her dad working for and being a front man for the Mob.
Both parties need to do things that remind the faithful why they are there and what their party is all about.
The Kennedy tribute did that magnificently..
To accomplish anything similar, goopers will need to dig up Ronnie again- but that act’s gettin old- and so is Nancy—they’ll need to get creative.
Clinton created a lot of this bad feeling by staying in the race long after it was clear that she had more chance of being struck by lightning than winning the nomination. The rifts would not be so deep and there would have been more time and resources to heal them if she had gotten out earlier. So I have to say I am both amused and bemused by all of these reports circulating and her own statements that she is doing everything in her power to see Obama wins. This seems to me more preemptive cover for her if in fact he loses. That said I hope she gives a good rousing speech this evening. And btw it sure looks like everyone and his brother is going to give a speech tonight.
Somebody’s been doing something similar to Link TV and Free Speech TV on DISH sat; both have been out for weeks…..came back on for a few days and now gone again. Getting withdrawal pains baaaaad with no Amy and Laura. Dial-up so computer reception is not an option. :-(
wonder if the same grading system is going to be used to judge laura and is Cindy Lou even going to give a speech for comparison purposes you know
While we are judiciously studying the lamestream media, Russia, (Medvedvev) has just once again slapped Bush in the flaccid penis by recognizing Ossetia and Abkhazia’s bids for independence.
After Bush openly threatened Russia to not recognize them.
-G
I think the MSM would love it and switch to covering the very exciting Repub vp choice. It would be true Repub form to steal the spotlight just at the end of the Dem convention.
Full disclosure my Grandma made and sold her own beer during prohibition.
So will the Mark Warner speech tonight give Obama a bounce up in the VA polls? Warner is extremely popular there. If Obama wins VA, and he’s already ahead in the latest polls, most Electoral Vote forecasts have shown he’ll win the election.
I don’t know if it’s an advantage for Obama to be making his speech in the shadow of Martin Luther King….
He needs to be seen as president of the United States, not as a civil rights worker..
Oh what will George do talk tough and Bluff again with cards we and the Russians know he doesn’t have? Or make a deal?
If Obama wins Virginia- the election will already be well in the bag (in my opinion)….and Virginia will be VERY NICE frosting on the cake….
I still think this is about Ohio- which is tied.
It’s unlikely that Obama will win Virginia and lose Ohio.
Isn’t the republican party a “organized crime” cabal
Looks like bi-partisan kumbaya from Warner.
Yahoo says his speech will “rankle” the Democratic faithful.
-G
The GOP sees those two things as mutually exclusive. The Dems and many independents, lean toward seeing the latter as part of the job description of the former.
These actions are principally payback for Kosovo and an expression of Russian nationalism, and imperialism. But it’s not much of an empire. This is what Putin Medvedev are reduced to? Dinking around with two minor provinces at the far end of nowhere.
Build more hybrid cars all new cars could get a mild hybrid system that shuts off the car’s engine when the car stops and starts it up again when you hit the gas.
Estimate gas savings a few miles per gallon its not much but if every new car had one.
Cost to add on to a new car should be minor and yes we have the tech.
Small space need for such a device I don’t know if any or how many car models would need to be expanded to make room for a mild hybrid system.
As demand for gas droops so does price.
I have been searching DNC schedules to find out when Don Siegelman is going to speak. He is scheduled to speak at the convention, isn’t he?
Headline; Medvedvev Moons Bush and McSame what now
McCain was a POW for 5 1/2 yrs
I agree with your solution- and it will contain the fuel costs for most families- but I don’t see gasoline falling much below $4 for very long. I suspect that it will continue to rise- just at a slower rate.
Yeah but Murder Inc used to bust a German American Bund meetings. The GOP is more like disorganized crime. Real crooks punish failure in wars or if you are not an earner.
No, I don’t think so. The full schedule and list of speakers is here, and he’s not on it. (Or at least not as of right now.) He’s there in Denver, but doing things off the podium.
Her arms jerked around so much that I was distracted. Her movements seemed too practiced. Her cadence and emphasis were really nice though. If I had heard or read the speech I would have thought it much better.
Still not 1/2 as weird as the Matlin/Carville coupling
What was the McCain campaign’s response to the non-white bastard child smear of Rove’s? Did they fold? Maybe it was a warning shot that one of Playboy McNasty’s real illegitimate children was ready to come forward.
McCain’s Mistresses for Truth?
True but we can do mild hybrids now fast and quick plus with the way new cars are selling retofitting existing new cars with government help would be a lifeline for the auto industry and might stop the need for a bailout later.
However Aptera has a very god shot of dropping demand and price.

Peterr@113:
OK. I got the mistaken impression that when he was going to be there he was actually going to speak at the convention. I hope he gets some air time somewhere.
Speculation or have you heard rumors?
Does that mean we Marxists will like it?
Ah yes. Although reading the article, it looks like Warner isn’t going to follow Paul Begala’s advice, which means Warner is probably doing the right thing. Winning VA would be fantastic.
Not really
I hardily concur. It is such a joy to hear an intelligent and passionate speech about things that are really important.

Another Bush mess that he is leaving for Obama to clean up.
Or is he, the market is to big for Bush to control Freddie and Fannie could go belly up at anytime and if that happens before the election that will hurt McCain after all Phil Gramm pushed for many of the laws that created this mess.

If Bush fails to mess things up spectacularly, McBush has promised to finish the job. Honestly, why is this guy close in the polls?

When did it change, private citizens being allowed to conduct foreign policy? I’ve been gone some while.
Question: Is Cindy McCain qualified as a diplomat? Since WHEN?
Only Republic private citizens are allowed to conduct foreign policy. They are inherently qualified because they are Republics.
The Bush Administration banned state attorney generals from going after predatory lenders in 2003. Edward Gramlich predicted there would be problems in the subprime sector in 2000. The No one could have predicted line is a lot longer than 2004.

Yep. Good old April Glassby (sp?)
What piece of work she turned out to be.
add: That cockup isn’t over yet. What has it cost since the ambassador opened their mouth? In treasure? In blood? Did the State Dept. send a minder?
When some of the treasure flows back into Republic hands, they feel that the costs are justified.
I agree. They were awesome. Anne said Bush Sr. was born with a silver foot in his mouth, didn’t she? I think of Molly so often and her awesome sense of the ridiculous and ability to express it. Wasn’t she in grade school with W? Wow… she got it way back when. I heard when she worked at the NY Times she ran around with her shoes off, making certain managers VERY uncomfortable. :) We need more angry smart women mouthing off with their shoes off!!!!
Thanks, BT. I like your wrap-up of night 1. I am slow warming up to the proceedings. Can this Party let alone country be healed? Corruption has such fierce momentum.
15,000 reporters lusting after titillating (but the same penlight narrow) stories in Denver as the world goes to hell in a handbasket kind of makes the case. And MSM checking in with Matt Drudge for the narrative lead each day makes me ill.
It’s like the MSM not at Fox is always auditioning for a job at Fox.
This continually amazes me. My boss comes in to me spouting the latest off Drudge trying to fire me up. He’s so disappointed each time. Funny how he never comes back saying how right he was.
