My favorite button of the convention thus far. Love it!
(And, for the record, the answer is one. One house. Just one. And I’m still working on the mortgage…)

Christy!!
Having a good time?
Afternoon, christy..how goes it?
Nice.
Will these buttons be available at the convention in Minnesota next week, too? It’d be nice if there were a crew of folks at the airport, perhaps around the baggage carousels, handing them out to the incoming GOP convention-goers.
*g*
OT – forgive me but…this story is what WE are about stopping:
I talk to lots of people on the phone as part of my job. Just before lunch, I talked to a woman who apologized for the size of her payment because she just got laid off her job. She later mentioned her age: she is 83 years old!
When she hung up, I sat slack-jawed for a minute.
More of this is what we’ll get if we let the Rethugs get away w/ their s___t again.
LOVE IT!!!
Mrs. Smith goes to the convention!
Glad you’re there and reporting. Thanks.
Great button!
My answer: None. I lost it to foreclosure.
Finally got to meet Duncan
Love the button. I would wear this one:
Even Bush deserves a fair trial.
Awesome, I want one! (Union-made, too!)
I saw this one the other day:
THINK. It’s not illegal yet.
Just stay away from the restrooms. The button they pass out there is “How many stalls do you tap at?”
I rent, right now i haven’t got use nor the money for a house. But then, i’m still in a more ‘transient’ stage of my life at this point. (i’m a slacker, but i’m supporting myself still!)
I love how the snark is flying fast and furious at this convention. Such a good sign for the Democratic party in general. ^_^

How go things at the polls today in Alaska?
Tweety has drawn the 9/11 truthers. Guy screaming “9/11 was an inside job” on a loudspeaker. That’s what he gets for putting nuts on!
EPU’d below
Haven’t posted the invite in this time slot lately:
Just let me know and I’ll send details—my screen name at mac dot com. We eat well around here so come on over.
You mean 9/11 WASN’T an inside job?????!!!!!
Dang, can’t trust anyone anymore. When you can’t trust Cheney to be Cheney, well nothing is sacred.
Boy, does that make me want to get some supplies for the button press I picked up at Goodwill a couple of months ago!
those are really fun toys to have.
Hey Christy – saw you briefly on the teevee this morning. MSNBC I think, doin’ a story on the bloggers tent – panning around the tent before interviewing Markos….
Catch Matt Taibi on the 9/11 Truth Movement in “The Great Derangement”.
time to get you butt on to pressing, presquevu
I like the McCain campaign design touch with the star-in-line
I think it’s funny that the crowd is so loud that he has to really speak up to compete.
If it was Bill-O, would he turn around and scream Shut the Hell Up?
I know, I could go to Fox News and check it out, but I’m a p*ssy. Can’t bear to do it.
I, for one, would have never characterized you that way!
I have my moments. :)
George Lakoff walked by me, alone, so I bolted out of my chair and asked to talk with him about framing: the next generation.
con’d
Main Lakoff point: McCain is sucking up all the oxygen with his false framing that he is Country Above All, that everything he does can be characterized as putting country over other considerations.
Be a maverick, that’s loving the country more than his party. Do what Bush says, that’s obeying his commander in chief. It’s fake, of course, but right now they are winning with this narrative.
They are taking what has traditionally been the Democratic narrative — Kennedys for goodness sake — and using it for themselves.
Democrats have to take it back by showing McCain is NOT country over all, that the things he does benefit his friends.
con’d
You really can’t trust anything those dirty rotten hippies over at the RollingStone are writing (but you can get some really good products out of the back pages -fur lined sink, gas powered turtle neck–sure, there some dumb stuff too).
No, I don’t trust any information source unless it is proliferate with Anime style Avatars:
http://answers.yahoo.com/quest…..920AAZnV9t
Second Lakoff point: whenever McCain says My Friends, who does he mean? He means the corporate types, rich people etc.
Democrats can seize the point by showing who his friends really are.
Yes, yes they should. Make it perfectly clear.
Third Lakoff point: it isn’t that he is rich per se, I told him we are trying to tie his policies to his being rich. Lakoff says that’s not automatically an issue, the problem is that McCain favors people who are rich and powerful while advancing a phony narrative that says he’s doing what’s right for the country.
Country Over All, who could argue with that, it’s so patriotic? And yet we need to start pushing back against that. Today.
Fourth Lakoff point: he thinks the folks around Obama are doing the right things with respect to framing and that others of us including media have to get to work dismantling the false County Above All narrative.
Oh and Lakoff loved coming to FDL and would enjoy be invited back again :)
What county?
bom dia pups
lol cool button. I may turn it into a tshirt for mr wobbs
David’s upstairs
Dan Rather: ‘Straight With No Chaser’
Amen Christy!
Us too!
On a recent talk show, McCain was asked about this very subject and he answered by playing the POW card. Senator Biden said that Rudy G.’s sentences consisted of “a noun, a verb and 9/11.” Now McCain’s sentences are starting to consist of a noun, a verb and POW. I realize that he can’t afford to actually discuss the issues because he doesn’t have a leg to stand on but to constantly play the POW card is wrong.
That one is a winner! Just who are McCain’s friends? Traitor Joe, lobbyists, big business, and the rich who receive roughly 80% of tax cuts. Can visualize a great commercial on the horizon along these lines.
How many houses does Eldon Smith own? From an article on DailyKos.
Do doll houses count?
I saw the clip from Leno last night.
Somebody should take issue with McCain’s characterization that he didn’t have a kitchen or a kitchen table. He did … his family were there, awaiting his return.
Or maybe he thought the Hanoi Hilton really was home.
His choice, I guess.
BC
I own a halfway house: we’re about half way done paying for it.
How many houses does Eldon Smith own?
EldonJohn …B-b-b-bunny and the private jets. How many houses?
On that score, McCain seven to Obama one. Cindy wins.
How many purchased with Rezko help?
McCain zero to Obama one. Barack wins.
Well, if we’re using that grading system, then we have to mention the Organized crime and bootleggers that helped Cindy’s father get his “start” in the beer distributing business.
You know? The ones he went to prison for?
Talk about old “bling”…the dorky Dan Barlett keeps getting a voice and face on my TeeVee. Is he considered a reporter? Anything about bias? He makes my tummy churn…sorry.
That’s great, Eg–you are meeting some interesting folks.
Have you meant any “serious people” who seem willing/able to repel the thugs’ tactics?
Ask me how many pseudonyms I have!
Ask me how many mob families I married into!
THEN GET OFF MY LAWNS!
That is horrific. That anyone at 83 should feel they have to work, or should be financially obliged to work, says so much about what’s wrong with the US.
Sadly,
Heather
I’m not sure what the answer is, but does it matter if Cindy is not running? Don’t be so touchy, C. Hardon Smith brought up the subject.
And, since lists seem to matter to you, Yes He Can: pervert the primary campaigns; refuse to impeach or censure; support retroactive FISA immunity; abandon campaign and election reforms; reject universal or single payer healthcare; support the Class Action (UN)Fairness act; equivocate and deceive on deployment of troops; abandon marriage rights, women’s control of their own bodies, LGBT issues; repeatedly support the Patriot Act; fear and refuse to debate other candidates; adulate the failures RWR and GHWB at the expense WJC (and HRC); move right of and orthogonal to progressive principles.
Got it.
So McCain is going to be better in what ways?
And for what it’s worth, since it is Cindy’s money that built McCain’s career, yeah it matters a lot.
Yes, that’s why I interrupted the thread — shouldn’t have, it was a happy, funny thread, and I apologize. But I couldn’t stop thinking about that woman.
I am so glad you asked. Are you happy with any of my above “Yes He Can” list? Do you doubt that there will be solid, probably veto-proof, Democratic majorities in both The House and Senate?
I am sure you know that ALL power (Constitutional safeguards, Judicial selections, purse strings, use and support of the military, …, impeachment) flows from Congress. We’ve already tried sugar with them, and what did we get? Worse than nothing!
The violation of the Fourth Amendment is the clincher (do you need links to House & Senate votes?). Egregious in it’s own right, by rationale and precedent, it opens up the entire Constitution to similar attack. Ooops! Sorry Sirs/Madams. I was acting under higher orders when I broke in and took your notes, books, firearms, children, etc. And, nothing was out of the order, but we’ll just keep this stuff. By the way, my boss and I are off the hook, unless you try to sue me. Evidence? What evidence?
Neither being Ayers nor Wright, my most effective tools are my voice (until they outlaw it — hmmm) and my vote (until they take it away — hmmm). I’m out to save The Constitution and The Country. Yeah, I’ve been a solid Democrat for over 35 years, and I am a Hillary-ista. But, that has nothing to do with it.
Endorsing this traitorous cabal (Obama, Dean, Pelosi, Reid, Hoyer, Axelrod, Goolsbee, Brazile, et al.) by giving them their duplicitous, slippery, ‘no heavy lifting’ candidate only gets us more of the same abuse. This time their going to have the world’s biggest whip! Don’t be delusional that this is all politics, and once in office zerObama will fix all of those f-ups.
It’s sharp stick in the eye time folks. So, what I’ve got going for me is taking away my vote (down one), and voting for the opposition (down two). With the polls running even (+/-), twenty percent of 18 million might just do the trick.
PUMA
I do not know how “old” you are….doesn’t matter. But you are dead wrong if you can interchange Obama and McCain…just start with the fact that Sen. Obama is not crazy/demented/cannot hold a thought in his head.
Please read the above again. I am not saying McCain and Obama are plug replaceable.
I am saying that Obama, Pelosi, and Reid are assholes. They have violated The Constitution. They have lied to and betrayed the Democratic Party and Country. They constitute a despicable blivit (10# in 5# bag).
House & Senate majorities should be sufficient — without zerObama, the sock puppet. The leverage is, “Here is the Congress. Do something right for a change. Come back in four years.”
PUMA — worth an estimated 7.2 million votes in a close election
