Hey, ask any Republican: John McCain is just a good ol’ average Joe Six Pack. Ask the Assrocket dude:
I can relate, though. For example, if a reporter asked me how many ties I own, there’s no way I could answer. Just like McCain, I’d tell him he has to ask my wife. Likewise if someone wants to know how many Wii games my kids have.
Because, you know, most of us just change our houses like we change our ties. Toss around the domiciles like so many video-game cartridges.
The truth is that McCain isn’t out of touch with "ordinary people" because he’s rich, he’s out of touch with his own domestic arrangements because he cares little about material things, and for many years has devoted his extraordinary energies not to enjoying his wife’s money, but to serving the American people.
I’m sure this is true. In fact, mebbe we ought not to go so hard on McCain.
After all, he doesn’t own any of the houses. He never has owned any of the houses. His wife is the one with the money, she’s the one who owns everything. She is the business man in the family. She wears the pants in the McCain family.
John has never had to make business decisions, buy a house, know what gas costs, or really know anything about managing money; his wife takes care of all that for him. I’m sure that it’s tough to keep track of all those houses under those conditions.
Like I say, just an average Joe Six-Pack.
UPDATE: The media (experts in Joe Six-Packdom themselves) want you to leave him aloooooone, too.

Of houses?
I can relate, though. For example, if a reporter asked me how many ties I own, there’s no way I could answer.
Ties, Ties! Just how Elitist are you if you think comparing ties to million dollar homes is the same thing.
McSame, “She has so many houses, I haven’t even been in some of ‘em, so really, it’s not a fair question.”
Bwaahaahaa!
Or, “I actually don’t own any houses. My wife owns some, ask her.”
can’t we please not resort to reactionary gender roles? please?
Sorry. I was using Republican-Speak.
McShame: out of touch. No need to attack him for his forgetfulness/age, or for being a kept man, or for being rich. He’s out of touch and that’s all there is.
If you forget how many million dollar homes you have maybe you are to rich?
Heck with the houses. “Enquiring” minds want to know how many pairs of Ferragamo’s he owns
Ties? That’s lamer than an arthritic three legged dog.
Of course McCain is “jes’ plain folks” to Hindrocket. Mister Hinderaker lives in a rather tony part of the Twin Cities Metro Area and is a longtime member of local white-shoe law firm Faegre & Benson, as well as a longtime contributor to the Claremont Institute, that noted and well-funded sheltered workshop and conservative pundit hatchery. McCain’s marital habits don’t bother him one bit, either, as far as can be determined.
yes.
Jeff Fecke over at Alas, A Blog discusses The Blot On Minnesota’s Escutcheon, as only Jeff can do.
OT This article in the NYT
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08…..ad.html?hp
discusses progress on what is termed an “accord” that would keep troops in Iraq until 2011 and in fact would leave an undetermined number there indefinitely. BTW 2011 is an “aspirational” goal. Aspirational is the new Administration word for “bullshit we really don’t mean”. This aspirational goal is conditioned on peace and stability in the country.
Yet in an accompanying article
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08…..ni.html?hp
Maliki’s Shia government is reported as refusing to pay for the large number of Sunni fighters who joined the Awakening which is the real reason, not the surge, that levels of violence have declined in Iraq. Maliki is also not integrating them into regular forces and is now even going after their leaders. So the likelihood of peace and stability is not high.
Also what I found interesting in the article about the accord is that it does not say word one about this being effectively a treaty needing Congressional approval nor that it is a Bush Administration ploy to tie the hands of the next President. For me, this represents another successful insertion of a Republican narrative into our political discourse. The article makes it sound that if progress is being made on the accord, then that’s a good thing. Because progress is good, right? The New York Times continues its not so fine tradition of carrying water for the neocons. Perhaps their idea is that endless wars are a great way to sell newspapers.
I made this point before and I’ll keep making it;
this issue is a non issue, the swing voters and the bigots are not changing their mind over mccain’s wealth
that is a fact
we have a chance to win the bigots who don’t actually know they are considering mccain because they are bigots, the people who are bigots but don’t acknowledge that fact to themselves, and mccain’s wealth is not the tact that will do the trick
the tactic that will work is the one that makes it clear israel is at risk under mccain, that his policies have made israel a target, that bush has given nuclear weapons to the enemies of israel and that peace is much much further away thanks to the republican policies
as things come undone pointed out downstairs, that is the winner, we guarantee we win florida and we challenge a person who doesn’t know he is a bigot to really take a look at who they want in office not which race they want in office
The dig in the ad is that McCain “forgot”. Idiot is right, I don’t know how many ties or pairs of socks I have, but it isn’t because I forgot. I buy new ones every so often, and throw some away when they get worn out, so I just don’t know. I didn’t “forget”. Forgetting? That’s McCain’s weak spot.
Question for the old bomber:” Did your wife insist on a pre-nup, you know in case she got in an accident? Maybe he doesn’t really own much of anything and is Cindy’s boy toy.
thanks david. if it was just an outlier it wouldn’t bother me so much. but it’s not the first time mccain has been mocked here for not wearing the pants in his family because the family’s $ is via his wife’s family. and the whole thing just seems to be spiraling out of control lately.
imo, this seriously feeds into two right wing cultural ideas (about $ and about gender roles) that imo need to be challenged – just like we need to challenge racism whenever we see it.
if there is nothing wrong with a woman being financially supported by a man, then there is nothing wrong with a man being financially supported by a woman (and everything in between).
The truth is that McCain isn’t out of touch with “ordinary people” because he’s rich, he’s out of touch with his own domestic arrangements because he cares little about material things, and for many years has devoted his extraordinary energies not to enjoying his wife’s money, but to serving the American people.
McCain is not out of touch McCain is lying. McCain has people like accountants, lawyers and financial planners that tell him how much he and his wife our good for on bank loans when McCain wants to loan his campaign money.
McCain is good for these loans because his wife has assets. McCain must know what these assets are when he goes to apply for bank loans sure McCain’s people handle the paperwork.
But only McCain can get that information to his people from his wife.
And if you think that McCain is not the least bit curious about what his wife owns and thanks to Cindy’s trust he does not own.
I got a bridge in West Seattle that I can sell you.
Thanks, PW. Love Fecke’s work.
I have four birdhouses.
-G
Like you say McINSAINE is just another JOE SIX HOUSE!
Thanks for this, David. It lets me share again my little ditty I put together this morning:
And by all means, let’s talk about ties. Let’s talk about McCain’s ties to lobbyists. Let’s talk about his ties to hate mongering preachers. Let’s talk about his daddy-in-law’s ties to the mafia…
“Aspirational goal” sounds VERRRRRY elitist.
-G
No, I used that language because, of course, the whole macho bring-home-the-bacon/be a breadwinner thing is such a big deal in conservative culture, especially the GOP base. I get mocked for being a stay at home dad by these folks. And yes, my wife manages our finances.
Just so you understand this was entirely satirical.
By the way, my wife doesn’t know how many ties I have either.
The deal is that it is at such odds with the Rugged Individualist image he tries to project.
Think about it: Here’s a guy who has to ask an aide how many houses he owns! Why, if he really owns none of them, didn’t he come out and say so right off the bat? Because he knows that it makes him look like a wimp to say that he has almost no money of his own. Of course, now he looks like a clueless, elitist wimp, in a scene that’s oddly reminiscent of Bush the Elder’s encounter with a supermarket scanner.
The name of assrocket dudes website is telling. the question I have though is – If this guy is clueless when it comes to his personal finances how in the hell is he going to manage the countries budget?
Ffrom a story in the LA Times
IIn Arizona, the McCains lived until several years ago in Cindy McCain’s childhood home in Phoenix, which was featured in the glossy pages of Architectural Digest in 2005. They sold it soon after and moved into a $4.7-million condominium in Phoenix.
The McCains spend weekends, if possible, in the remote rolling hills of Sedona. Their 15-acre compound features a modest residence and several guest cabins beside a creek sheltered in a verdant box canyon. The assessed value is $1.6 million.
The McCains also spent $4.7 million to buy two beachfront condos near the posh Hotel del Coronado in San Diego County.
In an interview with Vogue magazine, Cindy McCain confessed that her husband, who has suffered from skin cancer and must avoid the sun, wasn’t initially in favor of buying oceanfront property.
“When I bought the first one, my husband, who is not a beach person, said, ‘Oh, this is such a waste of money; the kids will never go,’ ” she said. “Then it got to the point where they used it so much I couldn’t get in the place. So I bought another one.”
Nope, no not one elitist here. Carry on people, move along!
Yeah Great Point!
Does anyone know if the beach in front of those condos is private? Didn’t the rethugs falsely accuse Obama of being at a “private” beach in Hawaii when all beaches there are public?
Oh sigh.
G’mornin’ David.
Good post. Yeah. We get it, or we should. We’re all gettin’ hyper-touchy these days. Don’t let us drive u nuts.
i think you miss the point.he could have said….my wife owns all the homes he did NOT… he is deceptive, and sttttttooooooooooopit
I agree that it doesn’t matter who supports the family, this issue is important. McC tries to paint himself as plain old folks and he’s not and people should know that. He worth 40k of his own money and their lifestyle is not ordinary. I don’t care how much money they have – I care that they pretend.
Didn’t you mean to say:
“McCains are jet plane folks?”
You think $275K per year sounds steep for “residence staffing,” wait til someone publishes their annual fuel budget for the jet.
But, but, but…Obama is an elitist!
Isn’t it past time for Time Magazine to name Power Line their Blog Of The Year again?
Hinderaker’s intellectually and morally bankrupt, and wants to shove your face in it.
Save that question for the California pups they would know.
Doesn’t everyone have “people who do that” sort of thing? *ducks*
and did i mention….RECKLESS…cept he wrecked 5 spensive planes
i wuz inspired to make a pome:
The Great War Hero
How could he be expected to recall
How many houses his wife bought for him?
He is the great war hero, after all,
Whose memory, with age, begins to dim.
And how could he remember which great team —
The Packers? Or the Steelers? — Do we care?
The point is he had undergone extreme
Enhanced interrogation over there!
And isn’t everyone pretty confused
Concerning Shia, Sunni, and Iran?
It’s just a talking point the poor man used —
At least he thought to bring his Lieberman!
His inconsistent views? Oh, what a bore:
That flip-flop stuff is so two thousand four!
ifn ye go to my site ye kin see the lanks, but i reckun ye dun alreddy know whuts up.
This morning, average guy John McCain took a 9 car motorcade to Starbuck’s and ordered a cappucino.
-G
ya’ think his implication is: he owns HER?
that’s how it comes across to me.
How she puts up with him. That’s the big mystery for me. Methinks he loves the lucre, and she’s the golden goose.
I’ll see your four birdhouses and raise you two hummingbird feeders.
imortal words………………….how QUAINT
It’s one of those things that had to be said, pointing up who ‘wears the pants’ in family McCain (seig — heil). It’s part of the bigger picture of a complete prat.
Oh, the power of wielding power. Intoxicating. Someone needs to pull him over for a breathuhlizer.
John has never had to make business decisions, buy a house, know what gas costs, or really know anything about managing money; his wife takes care of all that for him. I’m sure that it’s tough to keep track of all those houses under those conditions.
OMG does Cindy give John an allowance? Does she give John a credit card that she pays? Does John Make enough as a Senator to afford his lavish lifestyle?
i do understand. but i still think that absent any discussion of how profoundly twisted and destructive these so-called conservative values are, it is very dangerous for us to use them as the measure of a person.
it’s an issue i raised back in april when glenn was here for book salon:
didn’t get any answer then, but i’ve been thinking about it since… and the best i can come up with is to use the right-winger’s own words against them. that way we’re not buying into their twisted world view – but we are showing them to be lying hypocrites who don’t measure up to their own standards.
glenn does exactly that today – he’s got a long string of right wingnut quotes about men who are supported by women. but glenn doesn’t criticize mccain for having a rich wife, he let’s the right wingers do it. and in that way the attack is made, but the reactionary gender roles (and ideas about $) are never implied to be something we accept too.
This is the same story where they mention how many homes he owns and what they are worth.
My favorite line in the whole story being: “When I bought the first one, my husband, who is not a beach person, said, ‘Oh, this is such a waste of money; the kids will never go,’ ” she said. “Then it got to the point where they used it so much I couldn’t get in the place. So I bought another one.”
His 96 year old witchy mommy, who took BACK earrings from his first crippled wife is sitting on more oil than that OFFSHORE rigg he visited yesterday $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ she lives in Tulsa Oklahoma
The neocon goals described by Dr. Bernard Lewis of Princeton, include tribal destabilization and conflict, professor of Near Eastern Studies. Professor Lewis is a political advisor to the Bush Administration and Maliki’s exclusion of the Sunni population 35% does exactly that and aligns and polarises nieghbor states like Iran, Suadi Arabia, Syria, Lebanon in a way to insure contunued conflict in the ME.
The Georgia attack on South Ossetia destabilises the oil pipeline from the Caspian Oil fields to Poti on the Black Sea. Missiles in Poland create a threat to mother Russia. The Natoising of the Warsaw Pact countries further threatens Russia as Ukraine is next on that agenda.
Republicans are the party of war. Republicans =War Party it is their and Feinstien’s industry. Peace is bad for business. They just moved the paradigm closer to war. The oil coming out of the Caspian fields will be more costly…Oh and they are the party of Big Oil and Gas Prices.
There is if you’re a republican. Beating them over the head with this will increase their apathy to show up to vote in November. Plus it feels good.
and her toadies take care of her…………..its so tidy and convient
omg what a family. more than i needed to know. all of a piece, eh? *blergh*
John McCain married for money. That’s because he spent 5 years in prison without two nickels to rub together.
And like my mother always told me, if you marry for money, one way or another you’ll have to earn it.
She must, how else could he afford such expensive shoes? Unless she goes out and buys them for him herself and just tells him what to wear?
I’d like to think that was what I was doing here. At least, the intent was the same.
but it’s not the first time mccain has been mocked here for not wearing the pants in his family because the family’s $ is via his wife’s family.
I think that there would be little, if any, commentary about Mrs. McCrazy’s money if she had earned, rather than inherited, it.
jmo, and ymmv.
“When I bought the first one, my husband, who is not a beach person, said, ‘Oh, this is such a waste of money; the kids will never go,’ ” she said. “Then it got to the point where they used it so much I couldn’t get in the place. So I bought another one.”

…feels good to mock their cave-man mentality and hold it up for public scorn and ridicule. I should add.
i feel sorry for her…………….he aint no prize
i’d say it’s like a bee hive, or an ant hill. but that wouldn’t be fair to the bees & ants. at least those critters DO something.
mccaint’s just a big giant consumer, hoarding anything that comes within reach.
preznit material? I think NOT!
she wont show HER tax returns
Why is it OK that he hoards lobbyists? It seems like that would
be a major story in the pre-Fox era.
and if the republicans openly espoused the ideals of the KKK, would we be mocking mccain for having a non-white child?
and if not, then why is it ok to mock mccain for not living according to the sexist rigid gender roles the republicans do openly support?
…..
i’ve said my piece, all i ask if you-all think about it and i’ll try to leave it alone for now.
I’m cool with being kept if you work like raising a kid. However the GOP is not cool with this so if I judge McCain on the values that he supports I do not think that I am being unfair.
However a distinction should be made if McCain were a Lefty this would not matter.
And then there’s this, from a CNN interview:
So your sayin his Moma dresses him funny?
Bwahahaha!!!
sure reminds me of this guy
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mn4daYJzyls
Turdblossom Rove has spun this as an attack on Mrs. McCain because it is her money.
Poor little kept Johnny.
Spin away Turdblossom.

You can’t feel sorry for her… she made her choices and she chose him.
And in response of your response at #61 – AAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHHAHAH
Underooos!!!! LMAO
i wouldn’t. there’s something wrong there. she’s responsible for a goodly portion, wouldn’t ya’ think? If she’s smart enuf to play CEO… rodeo queen… nah. i can’t spare a square. sorry.
Johnny McSame has plenty of cash to spend on $500 shoes. He has his Senate salary, he has his Navy pension (with extra for disability), and he has Social Security. He has no normal expenses: no mortgage to pay, no utilities to pay, he flies on a private jet, Cindy pays for his household staff. He probably only has to pay for his own clothes, and restaurants and presents for his wife and kids.
No wonder he thinks the economy is in great shape!
Yep McCain is not an elitist when the average American is worried about gas prices the McCains worried about traffic hop a jet.
That should be a Dem talking point in fact we should be writing the Dem talking points.
More like his Sugar Mama…
Too bad that his spinning is reviving McCain’s campaign.
eek. has anyone ever chosen a spouse for veep?
She has people I doubt she really runs her business.
Actually, it was sadlyyes that suggested McSame wears Underoos…
Good….then they won’t need any of our tax dollars for roads.
Actually Glenn Greenwald’s post tday is on this subject. He dredges up 2004 right wing accusations that Kerry was a gigolo for marrying Teresa Heinz Kerry. You know expressing all this angst over something when it’s a Democrat and seeing it as an unfair non-issue when it’s a Republican.
The closest was Bush considering Condi…
she looks perpeptually sad…bet he verbally abuses her constantly
meow! sorry David. Can’t blame u for anything. But just look at what you’ve spawned here. heh.
Sugar Momas are suppose to dress their boys fine I’m thinking the romance is gone from that relationship.
d’oh! i knew that! *g*
I don’t think so. McC is now on the defensive and that’s good.
Franken has a one point lead over Coleman. Now wouldn’t that be a great seat to take!
mebbe they git a kick outta that… ewwwwwwwwwww.
I just published this at dKos –
John McCain Skeleton Keys –
I hope we don’t hurt the feelings of all those delicate flowers in the GOP.
If you like it, please recommend it.
I shudder to think about their romantic relationship.
Gives me the willies.
Sorry Sadlyyes
It’s good if it shows up in the polls. The story there has been the McCain ’surge’.
hugh–i sent this along with the new info this morning in my letters–was from a link from the the post you cited.
from nov 2007
von spakovsky-circumvents the civil rights division-
http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpoi…..004661.php
–snip–
One of the states that adopted von Spakovsky’s (or, as it seemed to them, the Justice Department’s) advice was Washington. But a lawsuit successfully blocked its law, similar to Florida’s, from going into effect. Justin Levitt, a lawyer for the Brennan Center, which has been involved in both lawsuits, said that only Florida, Iowa, and South Dakota still had such laws on the books.
The Florida lawsuit argues that not only would the law reject thousands of legitimate voters because of typos, misspellings, and the like, but that minorities are the most effected because Hispanic, Haitian, and African-American names in general tend to be more prone to transcription errors. The groups cite a report by the Social Security Administration that, “of 2.6 million voter registration records submitted to the SSA through February of 2007, 46.2% — nearly half of the records – resulted in a failed match.” Other state databases, such as New York, the lawsuit says, have failed to match approximately twenty percent of voter registrations to driver’s license databases. The lawsuit is ongoing.

voters would have two days to straighten it out…..two days… I have a differently-spelled name, can’t count the times it’s been misspelled. i would fall into this category.
cant make a silk purse from a sows ear”g”
Per John Hinderaker:
Exactly. He isn’t rich; his wife is. And she insisted on a prenup keeping everything in her name.
Continuing directly:
Exactly. unlike “ordinary people,” he needn’t be concerned with the material welfare of himself and his family. And, that’s because he married a heiress, and it’s all in her name.
John McCain, kept man, one of the ordinary people.

New Anthrax article connects NEW DOTS
Lived in California quite a while ago, but I believe that California’s beaches are all public (as opposed to Connecticut’s beaches?). However, the key issue is really beach access. If the only access to the beach is through privately owned property, or if there is no public parking available near the beach, then saying that the beach is public is pretty meaningless. That would be true in all states.
she. could. walk. away.
in all seriousness, i cannot shed a tear for these people.
i start thinking NOLA & Newark & …..
These people would be a disaster in the whytehaus!
me too… must be a sorry ass site….hhahaahahhahahahahahahahahahaahaha
A-yep!
either way…he is a spoiled sorry assclown
I can relate, though. For example, if a reporter asked me how many ties I own, there’s no way I could answer. Just like McCain, I’d tell him he has to ask my wife
The stupidest analogy ever! Ties. I have a lot of pennies mixed with old chewing gum wrappers in a bierstein mug. It’s so overflowing I can’t count. I bet if I took them to the bank, I might be able to buy a square inch of the turf grass on one of McInsane’s zillion dollar houses. If not I can always keep saving, or hope someone with Cindy McInsane’s money marries me.
Arrrgh! I almost pictured it then I flashed a bunch of H.P Lovecraft stories about unnatural rites with creatures from beyound and between and I could not decide who was beyound.
force yer brain onto another train of thought, afore ya burn out too many circuits, fgs.
*hands jug of brain bleach thru toobz*
People in the threads yesterday were saying that the houses story was on all the news stations. That’s really good. Don’t think the MSM can ignore this.
Attack, Attack, Attack! It’s necessary to burn in the minds of the electorate that McCain is a rich elitist with 7-10 homes, wears $500+ shoes and all the other trappings that go with wealth and priviledge. What does the average working Joe or Jane spend on a pair of shoes? How many homes do they own? The Republican Party and their ideology of personal avarice and greed must become toxic in the minds of the American public. If America again falls for the Republican BS espoused through their accomplices in the corporate MSM the working and middle classes will sink even further into despair and desperation.
i don’t doubt the intent – but you used your own voice (and not, for example right wingers) to mock and that is what i think is problematic.
just throwing it out for consideration – so whatever folks decide to do it is done consciously.
In other words, McCain may well have ordered them to shut up about it, just as he apparently ordered them to ignore Cliff Schecter’s bombshell book The Real McCain — Or Else.
I can relate, though. For example, if a reporter asked me how many ties I own, there’s no way I could answer. Just like McCain, I’d tell him he has to ask my wife
Yes, comparing ties to multi-million dollar houses is beyond idiotic. If it made even 1% sense, I could retire now based on my small fortune in ties.
True but you can buy the pig some Cool Underoooos! “G”
and dont forget…McDummy thinks lettuce pickers make 50 dollares PER HOUR
hahahahahahahahahahahaahhahaa
just noticing that $5 Million seems to be the amount that the Bush administration uses as a default when it comes time to settle a problem. Haboush, the former Iraqi mole who tried to tell about the lack of WMD’s got $5 Million, Rumsfeld got about $5 Million for the fake flu scare, Hatfield got a little over $5 Million to settle his persecution…
The Republican program is all about voter disenfranchisement and Spakovsky is their posterboy for it.
my answer to them? pfffffft!
AHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHA
This link says that the beach at the Hotel del Coronado is private. I think the associated condos would probably share that private beach.
McCain married for money.
Bush was born into a family with money.
Neither had to work for their wealth.
It’s yet another way that they are the same.
I thought that some beach owners like Phil Spector? kept their beach’s private illegally.
Graciously accepts and bows with gratitude.
Your in a mood…Cool!
McBush’s net worth is certainly relevant to his campaign for the highest office in the land.
The McBush’s are reportedly sitting on a $100 mm. How much of it is his? What’s it invested in? How will it influence his decisions? Will it all be put in a blind trust for the duration of the presidency? etc.
These are important questions- as is what appears to be McBush’s diminished mental ability- and he didn’t start out with much according to his Annapolis record.
It’s about time these questions get asked seriously.
Cindy McBush refuses to release any tax records..Do the McBushes file jointly?
The stupidest analogy
everyet!.You wanna be careful there. It’s only August, and with a seemingly inexhaustible supply of Stoopid, someone could probably surpass even this ridiculosity without breakin’ a sweat…
Per Glenn Greenwald
happy to oblige. i hoard the stuff. the times we’re in….. never in my life did I think we’d go thru all this again….. *sigh*
P. E. A. C. E.
oh my. why, shame on you. heh heh.
Do you have a link for that cause if McCain said that well if McCain thinks immigrants already get $50 an hour for picking lettuce then shouldn’t Americans get at least half that?
I think I see a raise in the minim wage coming.
I believe that anyone can get to the beach behind the Hotel Del.
I guess the Senate Judiciary will hold hearings on how the FBI handled the “case against” Bruce Ivins. Per Greenwald. I wonder how that will turn out.
hugh at 117–yep…but i use words more definitive than disenfranchised, that sounds to weak for what it is…swindling people, out of their rights as a citizen to cast votes for elected officials. and giving them no recourse to do anything about it…..you had to prove your idnetity in two days, i coulnd’t even find the paperwork in two days, and that’s if i already had it.and what about elderly or people who work? how they going to do that? and if you had to send for stuff out of town? it’s so atrocious.
and he’s going to be overseeing our elections for the justice department? i can’t understand why the dems areen’t all over htis, i really do’nt.
fox in the hen house? this is worse, this is a fox who’s already eaten all of the hens and is living there, clucking, so we think there’s a few hens left.
BT is upstairs
Shame on Ann Coulter and Hannity. Just what are they saying now? Will they flip flop on those gigolo-type denunciations?
I’d put my money on “more dead scientists.”
You’re right that was hyperbole. Selise>Greenwald just reminded me of how stooopid the right wing ranters in the media can go.
I couldn’t find anything on your link that says that the beach is private. I have been there several times while Navy seals jogged past from their north Island “resort”.
I’d argue they are not morally equivalent and that’s not a great analogy. Plus you’re talking about a child, so no. Wouldn’t do it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6pu5nf8dAU
There is a beach on Coronado Island that is for all practical purposes private, it is controlled by the US NAVY and navy families enjoy it daily—others can’t get in.
Glenn Greenwald has a column today with an accounting of the MSM and right wing punditry attacking John Kerry in 2004 regarding him feeding off his wife’s inherited wealth. Everyone should link Greenwald’s column and send it everywhere. This needs to go viral.
ATTACK or die. Freedom isn’t free as they say and we may very well lose ours if Obama doesn’t draw his sword.
Read George Washington’s take on the new NIST Study
(your link) I didn’t know this. That’s interesting.
This is a find Dave Watch this!
is the only reason the analogy doesn’t work for you is that a child is involved?
then how about this fictitious one:
and if the republicans openly espoused the ideals of the KKK, would we mock mccain if he had married a black woman?
This is great I’ll pick lettuce for $50 an hour the whole season sure my back hurts but at $40 a visit I can afford to see my chiropracter every day for less than an hour’s worth of work.
Well the reason we mock Larry “Wide Stance” Craig, is because he’s one of those “protect marriage” maniacs. The hypocrite factor is big and laughable because repukes standing on the bully pulpit have very narrow notions of what constitutes a “righteous” life style.
@148. But like you, I am not into reinforcing stereotypes etc.
I mock Log Cabin Republicans, African American and Hispanics who are Republicans etc. Its when you say one thing but do another that creates the contrast needed for humor.
I have no trouble with mocking goopers who call Kerry a kept man and McBush a macho hero- none at all.
Must be nice to have your wife make all the hard decisions, like when it’s time to buy a jet.
I’ve been a bit puzzled by the methods used to find out how many houses McC owns. When the newsmen/women seemed puzzled about how many were on a single property because the picture was blurry, I wondered if they knew about assessor roles which lists the number of structures. I also wonder if all of their holdings are in the trust, or the family trust, or are traceable by their own names. Anyone who knows real estate knows that there are any number of ways to hold real estate if you don’t want it to be easily traced back to you. Just put it in a corporate or partnership name, for instance, as the McShames did with a nearby property to their “ranch” (which is not, technically, a ranch. It’s more of an estate, I think.) The property is held under the name “Sedona Hidden Valley Limited Partnership.” I took a brief peek, and I found five different entities that Cindy McCain is affiliated with in one way or another. Included was “Dream Catcher Family LLC” and “Western Leasing Company Limited Partnership.” I’m fairly sure there are others, but one would have to take more time than I’m willing to devote to finding them, and then you can’t be sure you’ve got them all.
now, now – some of the best folks i know are witchy….
i think it matters how we do it. we don’t mock craig for being gay. we don’t mock rice for being black.
then why mock someone – in our own voice – for a deviation from reactionary gender roles?
i think this is a tough one, not trying to say there is an easy answer – but i do think this deserves some thought because i see us unthinkingly accepting and amplifying a right wing frame wrt gender roles (and issues wrt $).
