Hello BT! Great links.
Obama’s VP: Mrs Kucinich.
Obama’s surprise pick: Emptywheel.
She gets him Michigan, the rugby vote, and the votes of those who love digging in the weeds. And the netroots would go nuts.
Oh, and I want a pony, too.
Good Morning! I just read an article in the http://www.washingtonpost.com that tied Barack to Michelle’s employer, oh my! “Obama Camp Has Many Ties to Wife’s Employer” They have since changed the headling on the front page to read “Obama’s Chicago Connections” The hospital set up clinics on the South Side of Chicago to alleviate over crowding in the emergency room. Obviously it was cost effective to do that but providing health care to those in need, closer to their homes should not be an issue. I’m confused. Did anyone else read the article?

McDeaf now in a ‘cone of silence’..finally!
Ahh, I want it to be Ghouliani for McBush… Think about the pairing of; Noun verb 911 with Noun verb POW…! A match made in heaven…! ;-)
Good Morning all
JPL9 just scanned that article, I thought that Other than the heading it was generally positive.
Does this make him a cone head
What’re you doin’ up at this time of day?
Insomnia… Home alone with no family around…! ;-)
I just read it, JPL. It is a confusing read, to be sure, but I think the jist is that the medical personnel and patients feel that they’re being swept under the carpet. That is, the hospital ER doesn’t want poor people using their services for non-emergency care.
They feel that this set up is not really benefiting the patients, if I’m reading correctly. They spend 1% on patient care, while receiving five times that in tax relief.
What is the most disturbing is the you-scratch-my-back-I’ll-scratch-yours with Axelrod.
I agree which is why I found the headline so odd. After I read the article, all I could think of is what’s next, national health care?
Bummer.
Surf up?
Morning all. Wouldn’t emptywheel be great?! I’ve been puzzling over this VP pick, and I can’t think of anyone I’d rather have. Well, maybe Russ Feingold, but he’s not in contention, is he? Does it bother anyone else that Obama’s VP selection process is so very secretive, and top-down? Given the media hype and hoopla, I guess I can understand it, but it seems un-necessarily coy to me. Plus, nobody bothered to ask ME! sigh… still waiting to be named Empress of the Universe. Y’all should get right on that, please.
Btw, where’s Marion with the morning vittles I hear about so often…? I’m hungry!
CNN just changed their live stream from Biden’s house to Bayh’s
Oh GAG! Not Bayh!! Just, ick.
The article also mentioned that they don’t know if the clinics will work. Anyone who has visited an emergency room lately, knows that the situation is not working and needs to change. Joe Stevens tends to write gotcha pieces and for a gotcha piece, I did not find it odd. The SacBee article that Americablog linked to about McCain’s ties to telcoms was offensive. Barack’s ties to University of Chicago Medical Center not so much.
She was here in Attaturk’s thread, I’ll bet there’s still an English muffin left
What I read into it (and it was a confusing read) was that by establishing more community based service centers for non=emergency needs the high cost emergency centers could operate more efficiently. It could also bring health service to the people.
You missed her. She’s at work now and posted earlier on Attaturk’s post.
I thought I read that Obama was gonna hold off announcing. With McSFB’s housing crisis growing legs he didn’t want to kill the buzz.
Gee, what a novel idea.
Dang, my one time to catch her in the morn and I’m on the wrong thread! Just my luck…! ;-)
Yeah, I agree. But medicine, imo, isn’t the healing art that it once was, but a business enterprise. They go after those with the money, as the article expresses.
Bush accepts defeat in Iraq; surrender negotiations nearing completion:
Well, sleep is finally creeping up on me! I’ll see ya’ll on the flip side! Aloha Oe!!!
She posted about two hours ago then went to work.
Sleep well. Namaste

The Lobbyists In Their Summer Skyboxes
Watching BBC last night–Rice was very vague and that had my antennae up. Then (I believe) it was Stephen Biddle of the Council on Foreign Relations (cfr.org) who stated that we weren’t *leaving* Iraq, as in the troops setting foot on American soil, but that they were going to be stationed outside of the cities to be “on-call” if the Iraqis needed them to intervene. They intend to continue to drag this out, is what I was getting from it.
Yeah, but it’s been rather a lot of fun watchin’ the so-called media gettin’ their knickers in a total twist because they can’t find out.
Gotcha crown right c’here. *g*
My daughter is an RN in an emergency room. When she is trying to save a life there is no concern of the financial capabilities of the patient on the bed. People in the office may have that concern but it does not impact the boots (or sneakers) on the ground.
Went to bed late last night after too much good food and way too much wine at a local restaurant with nephew and his fiancee. Woke up this morning not remembering which house I was in (fortunately we have only two). It sometimes happens. Dangerous at the top of the stairs if you take a wrong turn with your eyes shut.
I’m talking about regular patients, Mike.
My experience with nurses, for the most part, is that they are a dedicated group.
There seems to be some talk that Obama will hold off on announcing his VP pick, so that everyone can continue to talk about McCain’s houses for another few days.
