FROM THE DESK OF THOMAS FRIEDMAN, Genius
Stop stealing my act!
Sincerely,
Tom Friedman
But on Sunday I found a shady parking place outside the Village Store, near the window sign advertising "AKC Golden Retrievers. Ready Sept. 8."
When people drove up to replenish their beer supplies or buy a loaf of bread, as a steady procession did, I delayed them long enough to ask a few questions. In four hours, I completed two dozen interviews — not nearly enough to have any statistical validity but providing lots of insights.
From this Broder makes broad generalizations about the voters of New Hampshire and the nation.
Journalism, by the Dean.
Sadly, about 23 better than a Bill Kristol.

The good people of Lyndeborough took one for the team last Sunday. God bless ’em.
As is invariably the case with broderella he writes a slow motion train wreck of a column. (If by “column” you mean the literary equivalent of a gonorrheal drip)
Staggering that he only found people that confirmed what he wanted to say: Magic Underwear for Veep and Barak is a weak candidate.
I don’t write for a living because it is not something I do well. Shame on his parents for not imparting that bit of wisdom on him.
Good morning Attaturk and thanks for the post.
You write well enough oldnslow and you have something to say which is more than I can say for Broder.
I can’t believe that nobody else here including me caught that Broder always seems to find people who supports what he says.
Never mind that Broder’s predictions, like Bush can turn his poll numbers around are often wrong.
This Literary conceit/cheat of the party of the rich and their whores like Broder of claiming to speak for the common man who somehow always agrees with their opinion and their proGOP bias is getting tired.
The GOP needs better writers.
Good morning, pups. It’s Collins, Cohen and Kristof this morning. La Collins says “Every Veep Has His Day,” and that if we’d planned ahead, we’d have demanded a vice-presidential competition that the other TV networks could have put up against the Olympics. Mr. Cohen’s column is titled “News Good Enough to Bury.” He says that an alternative to the standard news coverage of Africa is that it is going to be the success story of the next half-century. Mr. Kristof says “China’s Rise Goes Beyond Gold Medals,” and that today, it’s the athletic surge that dazzles us, but China will leave a similar footprint in almost every other facet of life.

The coffee and tea are ready, and I’ve got bagels with cream cheese. Hoover is extremely annoyed with us. He is of the opinion that it’s our job to provide good weather for him, and he’s very upset with the recent turn of events. Little does he know that it’s going to get a lot wetter before this is over. Have a great day.
How much rain are you expecting? My plants and trees are wilting and I wish that it would take a turn north so we could get rain in Roswell.
They’re murmuring on the TV and radio that by the time it finally passes, depending which way it turns, we’ll wind up with 8 to 10 inches. We got a goodly amount yesterday, in fits and starts, and looking at the radar it seems to be inching closer. I’ll see what I can do about turning it north, but I’m not guaranteeing anything!
The Common Man has been losing ground since Reagen. Yet the MSM whores try and justify what they do by claiming the common man shares their values.
Once maybe the Common man worried about bussing and race so much that they gave the GOP political power.
But after decades of losing ground because they gave the party of the rich the power things seem to be coming full circle.
The Common Man has has realized that the trickle of trickle down economics is yellow.
Most of them realize that the rich don’t like them and that race mixing is not so bad.
I think that there is hope!
Broder et al are nothing other than american francoistas/fascists supporting the regime/coup de etat. This was in The Guardian today, a brief but powerful recap of what the Spanish suffered under Franco (still reported dead). It is the reign of terror that resulted from these political murders that Spain is just now starting to come out of fear from.

Putting a full and permanent end to the present ideology must be accomplished by other means. Bullets will not stop ideas, a powerful education does. Not a child born knows how to hate, it is educated into them; likewise, the ideology can be educated out if care is taken.
A bit of a read, but worth the effort.
The really sad part is, if you stand in front of the 7-11 for 4 hours you can find people that can’t believe the Russians invaded the U.S. (Georgia) Can’t find Georgia on a map. (the state) Don’t know who the Vice President is. Can’t spell Supreme Court. Believe Saddam orchestrated 9-11. Or whatever stupid shit you want to hear.
The point is, to waste newspaper space with concocted bullshit day after day while claiming the mantle of “Elder Statesman” of the literary universe is revolting on many levels.
Sorry for the rants. I will return to lurking.
Excellent rant! I work with many of those people… Please de-lurk more often.
No Keep ranting its what keeps the comments interesting The real sad things is when these people get to write for newspapers appear on TV and the Dems just let the lies stand without challenging them.
Its real bad that so many work at the White House.

Who could ever forgot this Broder classic?
(from his Wiki page)
Is NYT’s John Broder his son? Couldn’t find an answer with a quick search.
Media Matters has a great run down on the Broder schtick, with an example as far back as 1969.

For talk shows and MSM, it’s all about the money and the truth gets pushed aside.
Please take your say more often, it is refreshing to have more voices, lurk only if you must ;-)
NOTE TO SELF:
I will not listen to the media when they say older Americans are not behind Barack Obama, because last night phonebanking with local Democrats, once again (it’s been like this since I started), it’s the old people who (before I finish asking the question) will say: “Obama!”.
I will not listen to or allow the right wingers of America form my reality, especially when I know the reality is, their “stats” are not even close. See?
WE could use a truth commission here but for low level people only who have to testify to everything to get amnesty if they forget one thing amnesty is gone.
We thus get them to squeal on the big guys. Plus we televise the testimony to build up public support for impeachment, war crimes, murder charges etc.
Then we go after their assets like the Bush family trust and Cindy McCain’s trust horde.
Lots of GOPers pushed a war they knew was false even after the public never mind they who get the classified news knew that their were no WMD in Iraq.
Can we say an unjust war can we say war crimes? They defended torture and lied about us not torturing people after we already knew about it cover up war crimes makes you an Accessory After the Fact.
My Comment at 17 was suppose to be a reply to T-Bear sorry.
For years Broderguard was pitched as the Liberal viewpoint. Thankfully, you don’t see this as much now, but I bet a large part of the Conglomerate Media-consuming public thinks of him this way still, at least those over 45 or so.
It’s really a challenge to find anything that would back up the claim that Broder has any Liberal tendencies whatsoever. In fact, the evidence of his writing over decades shows he’s an extreme Repube apologist. Broder’s been doing the Fox Newz thing long before Fox was a gleam in a bead of sweat rolling off of Roger Ailes’s many rolls of fat.
Maybe a bash a MSM pundit day is needed because they have such a long history of lies. Getting everyone up to speed would give us all the ability to take down these hacks even more.
Plus there is the joy in a good laugh.
Once a week just pick a Broder a Rush or a Malkin and look at their lies, their predictions and the success rate of their predictions and of course threats of violence/ number of murders who we know read their books.
At least the Daily Howler has been calling Broder on his crap for a while. A Google search of their site turned up 234 hits.
I would agree to a Truth/Amnesty Council/Commission for the rank and file who voted to support the traitors.
For all public officials, the heinous, nefarious, flagrant usurpation of the government and subversion of law must be addressed and handled as traitors are customarily dealt with.
This latter category also includes all those connected in turning news into propaganda and disinformation supporting the junta.
A third category to face Treason, must be the judiciary itself, had law been observed in their courts, the subversion of the constituted government would not have occurred.
No accomplice should be allowed to retain citizenship in any form, or profit from their acts.
Well Broder really earned his
vacationpaycheck with this one. He finds out where he can keeplenish his beer supply, where he sets up his folding chair to mingle with the natives. And Good Morning!

P.S. Overlooked those who funded the cabal, should be given boxes under bridges and a soup bowl.
The stated policy is “return on success.” So why aren’t the troops home?
Bob Somerby is something else. He has been hammering on the media ever since they mistreated his former Harvard roommate, Al Gore, in 2000, way ahead of the rest.
good point, why is that.
I saw a yellow ribbon bumper sticker last night:
T-Boone the swift Boater is at the top of my list for life under a bridge.
Only after all the vets who are there now have affordable humane housing, the mentally incapacitated as well.
I don’t like T. Boone, but his energy ideas seem pretty good.
T. Boone seems hell bent on getting that first big check from the Federal government to start his wind project. After that, I bet we won’t get much out of him. I’m sure he’ll blame the environmentalists (like the Oil Maggots currently do!) for being too mean and scary when he wanted to put up some wind farms or whatever his excuse will be and will say, “This is why we can’t do wind. We must use oil. But hey, I got a $100 million dollar start up check, so personally, I don’t feel I lost in this great heroic battle”.
Or something like that. No matter what, T. Boone wins whether it’s wind or oil as far as I’m concerned.
Was T. Boone in on the swift-boater? I had the ambassador eejit as responsible, the one who slithered through Senate confirmation.
If the surge had succeeded, the troops would be home.
T. Boone was one of the financiers of the swiftboaters. More recently he offered a million dollars to anyone who refuted any of the claims in the ads and renegged at least twice.
See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swift_Boat_challenge
Thanx, I missed that in the media over here, sometimes americana does not cross the waters well. I will bookmark that link.
I am easy on this codger. He is the only mainstream journalist bigwig that goes after the Sickness industry that’s stealing from the poor and giving to the rich. AMA types might take offense but our 15 percent (growing to 20+ percent soon if change doesn’t happen) of the GNP health care industry is a huge weight on our economy and it’s poor statistics in supplying ‘health’ are well known. Only Broder seems to care about the health care industry’s high costs and poor performance while writing in the mainstream press.
Not as effective as Kevin Phillips but at least he cares. (Kevin’s on to the financial industry which is even worse as it doesn’t produce much of anything and it’s getting close to the 20 percent of GNP for sucking the life outta every other industry..)
“Kenneth Young, bearded and ponytailed, was a Romney voter.” said McCain was a little too liberal.
Yeah, what ever happened to long hairs, the Real Ones? The ones who had to take guff from cowboys and live to tell about it? Now they’re “libertarian” Fascists!
unlike me, who got old and now uses the 1/16 inch guide on my scalp to hide the bald spots. Next time i see a long hair, I’ll think what a re@@@@ Republican.
Afghanistan. Iraq. Iran. Georgia. How many wars, Mr. McCain? How many?
He never seemed particularly insightful on healthcare economics, but then I don’t read him so all that often.
The guy I really like on healthcare matters is Paul Krugman.
Not a bad idea. Not only point out their lies but point out how just plain wrong they are. There are countless examples of their wrong predictions. If anything is going to change in the U.S. it’s critical that the credibility and ultimately the reputation of all these corporate media gasbags be destroyed.
Speaking of which (fascism, that is), I read in the papers that DHS is making a list of all Americans who enter the USA and checking it twice and keeping it 15 years to see who’s been naughty or nice.
What country or countries does this remind you of?
Thanks Bluetoe2
