It appears the McSame campaign is having difficulty, erm, managing McSame’s "I have no idea how many houses I own" gaffe. The level of whining and shrieking is an indication of just how bad a day it’s been for Multimansion McSame.
First, the campaign hastily played the Hawaii/arugula/bitter card while tossing in the fact that the Obamas made $4 million last year. Ooops. They forgot that McSame had previously defined that income as middle class.
Then, the RNC screamed "Rezko!" Like we haven’t heard that before.
And finally, McSame mouthpiece Brian Rogers played always effective POW card:
"This is a guy who lived in one house for five and a half years — in prison."
So in addition to having free rein to cheat on their wives, POWs aren’t required to know how many houses they own.
Getting a little desperate over there, I’d say.

Aloha, BT!
I don’t mind seeing the other side squirm, but I’m tired to the “gotcha” bullshit.
It’s just too hard to keep track of all those pesky little details, like how many houses you own.
Yeah but they’re pushing the elite theme, and they can’t keep track of their primary real estate?
I think most of us here would prefer to have McCain defeated on the important issues that face us.
But knowing how we have to manipulate the TradMed to actually report things correctly, if Gotcha is what it takes to get them to pay attention and actually report things, then Gotcha is what they’ll get.
Noun, Verb, POW
Another pesky detail they omitted…
One prob with that, there are no ‘private’ beaches in Hawaii…!
Anyone think this will get a lot of play in the media – compared to, say Edwards and the haircut?
You cannot counter a classic Rovian campaign by playing fair or nice.
Let alone when the taxes were due
CNN has been airing it pretty regularly today…! ;-)
I love the a propos McCainopoly pic!
Kinda suggests McKeating5’s buddies getting out of jail free cards too.
The help takes care of those details.
I wonder if McBrain gets lost in his houses when he hasn’t been there for say a week or two.
I always had to laugh when the locals drove up to the front gate at Hickam to go fishing.
I’ve been curious how the DoD under BushCo has handled that since 9/11.
This isn’t really “gotcha.” The man doesn’t know how many houses he has. This isn’t trivial information.
If he’s this clueless about his own finances, what does he know about the average working family’s?
Arizona Ranchers are PO’d….. In AZ the term Ranch is a legal term, it is tied to zoning, taxes and range laws because to be called ranch it has to have livestock and in AZ that means cattle and a specific number of acres.
McBush’s little spot in Sedona (4.4 acres) is NOT a RANCH….. it is acreage which is gated…. of course, the more they call that Compound a Ranch…. those usually conservative ranchers will be looking to vote for someone else….. Its NOT a Ranch….
And my comeback to that stupid “I’m a POW and you can’t slime me” is “What does that have to do with the price of tea in China?”
And this guy wants to be in charge of the federal checkbook
Here’s my idea for fun and hijinks at the convention.
Here’s the link.
Gives “all hat, no cattle” a second meaning… *g*
How dare you accuse J. Sidney McCain III, a former prisoner of war, of playing the POW card!
Gotcha?
McCain didn’t know the answer, his staff didn’t know the answer, Obama already had graphics prepared to present the 7 houses.
I think this reasonably reflects on how the respective White Houses might be run.
One of the all-time great gaffes.
True, but there’s no private ownership of beaches, in fact, public access has to be provided even in the exclusive areas like Kahala and Hawaii Kai, and even the 4 and 5 star resorts here on the Big Isle are required to provide public access…!
well.. recall that McShrub ‘forgot’ to pay property tax on his house in my fair city. I have to wonder how many more of his forgotten estates he’s in default on…. I mean, if he can’t remember how many he owns, he can hardly be expected to be up to date on his bills…. what a ‘thug.
No, I know you’re correct. That’s why I was curious as to how DoD was handling it with Hickam and Pearl and such as the locals came on base all the time to fish because of the open beaches laws.
They could do like they do in Puerto Rico – call it a wild life preserve to mask all the pollution from the military.
So funny, Joe. Was chatting about this very thing a few minutes ago.
I’d heard that they tried to shut it down early on, but, the US District Court shot it down right quick…! I think the Surf Riders ohana filed suit quickly after it was announced… You’d be surprised how many lawyers are surfers here…! ;-)
I agree. I think Malcolm X’s oft quoted phrase is apropos: “By any means necessary.”
If an ad is factual and every statement therein can be verified and was not presented out of context I have no problem with it being nasty. McSFB is a nasty person and won’t hestitate to label Obama as everything but an AA. Sorry, but it’s hard to be nice when somebody’s poundin’ the shit out of ya.
Im not tired of the gotcha stuf.. as long as it sticks on the republicans. Way too often the opress just “forgets” or looks the other way on this stuff.. when it’s their side
Maybe, instead of trying to get these keys through the airport they should be mailed to the MSM to all arrive on the same day – during the rethug convention to give them something to talk about.
CBS Evening News has it on, too, right up front!
Yep.
Did a wedding in HI a couple of years ago for a cousin who lived there, and was delighted to see that the beaches were completely open to all.
It was always pretty easy to spot the visitors in the big resorts who live in gated communities “back home” (wherever that may be). I had to laugh when I overheard an obvious society maven turn to her husband and say “Dahling, why don’t they put up a fence to keep ‘those people’ off our beach here at the resort?”
McCain and his crew can’t even imagine the concept of a place with the beauty of Hawaii that *wouldn’t* have private beaches, nor the notion that a presidential candidate would be caught at a public beach.
Why isn’t there a “POWs for Obama” group? They can’t all living large
off of their rich wives and their lobbyists like McCain.
*gasp* Or worse… Body Surf…! ;-)
Are you questioning John McCain’s integrity??
I did not know McCain was a POW, did you? He never mentions it, and his campaign never talks about it either.
2nd story on ABC. Maybe this sucker does have legs!
Let’s hope it’s a centipede.
Notice how Hyannisport is always a compound, but the a GOP always has a ranch (even when it’s really a pig farm). In McLame’s case, a cabin. Perhaps we should call it a ranchette? That sounds sufficiently diminutive that it might piss him off.
Of course, since he doesn’t know how many houses he has, maybe folks should jangle their keys at him at his town hall meetings. I’ve heard that has a salutary effect….
*jangles keys*
When we’re in the middle of a meltdown in housing prices, the banking system is in a mess with the collapse of sub-prime loans, and when foreclosures are at their highest rates in I-don’t-know-how-long, it’s not exactly a stretch for a producer to say “Hey, a story about a presidential candidate who owns so many houses he’s lost track of how many he has is newsworthy.”
One little discrepancy, I’ve seen 9 houses mentioned here, Obama cites 7, and, McBush says 4…! Hmmm…
I haz ur kees and m takin all ur stuff.
yup
Bud Day, former POW, swiftboater, and John McShames divorce attorney lives in Ft Walton Beach and is a speaker on McShames behalf. I will look at the vets for Obama site to see if there is any differentiation.
Aren’t they all really owned by Cindy? How can a man be expected to keep track of all the stuff his rich wife owns. *ducking*
I’m just hoping it will really catch on and become a late-night comedy staple!
The man can barely keep track of his girlfriends.
Oh, Vicki Iseman? Wherefor art thou?
I like the fact that Toobin is mentioning that it’s a twofer… It’s a reflection on his age and his wealth…! ;-)
Can’t see Leno and Letterman passing this up. It’s just too good. And I’m smiling.
Great post BT. Thanks!
Josh at TPM says 10, but the excuse is that some are rental properties.
A POW who won’t vote for McShame
http://www.military.com/opinio….._1,00.html
I really wish the Nat. Enquirer would get all over that…her immediate “disappearance” sure smacks of damage control…I really think there are legs to that story.
Or the price right here at my local grocery store even!
hehe. And he certainly would never try to prove he is a Christian by relating a story that one of his jailers produced the sign of a cross in the dirt, in front of him while he was a POW. Um.. actually, never mind.. somebody must first explain how this evidence of the faith of a Vietnamese guard manages to rub off on the guard’s prisoner? I’m confused.
Calling McBush’s acreage with 5 houses a single Cabin is a slam to Abe Lincoln and his log cabin which really was a cabin…..
Now you know why Arizonians are a tad touchy about calling something a ranch when it isn’t
The “house” gaffe sure wiped off McGoo’s Russia policy theme from the news.
I hope somebody asks him how many planes he crashed and what their collective value would be to American taxpayers…
Good story for Obama—
McBush was gettin all woody with the “elitist” bullshit– seven houses that he can’t remember socks McBush right between the eyes at least twice- as bein a rich fuck and for bein too old to remember where he fuckin LIVES…
Of the two, the second is the one most likely to stick.
I really like the jingling of the keys at McBush events…..
Some people would like to live in something like the straight bullshit express.
On the contrary, I think that people who live in glass houses purchased with friends like “Rezko” maybe shouldn’t throw stones if you know what I mean. We hadn’t heard of Rezko in a while. It might not have been a good idea for Obama’s folks to bring that issue up. Its amuteur hour at the Obama campaign. He’s never really run against the Republicans before. They sure aren’t gonna go as easy on him as Clinton did. Rezko gets sentenced in October. I’ve heard there are a few more indictments in the pike for the Chicago gang. Can’t say I’m looking forward to whats ahead for the Democrats but it’ll be the DNC’s own fault.
Right. Like they weren’t going to hit Obama on Rezko — as they’ve been doing for months.
Sorry pal but that dog just ain’t gonna hunt
Obama’s real estate “deal” with Rezko was for a very small strip of vacant land adjacent to Obama’s house. It wasn’t for the purchase of the “house”. Also, Obama is not implicated in anything that Rezko has been charged with.
Today’s editorial cartoon from Tom Toles is absolutely spot on: http://www.gocomics.com/tomtoles/
When you are a POW nothing counts
Why the DNC?
Btw, McBush’s love affair with vets continues…
I’m still drafting today’s post on his love affair with vets…!
remember…. if you leave them alone they might go back to their basements and play their puter games…..
Do not feed…
Sorry, I forgot
If you are nice to your local auto recyclers (formerly called junkyards), you can get, free, huge numbers of car keys. I will myself get a pile of them and send them in, as per this excellent suggestion.
Thanks for this inspiration, foothillsmike!
This oughta get some vets’ attention. Rethugs would sell their mothers.
New post
I’m puzzled as to why he didn’t mention it at the VFW appearance…? ;-)
In 3-4 lb packages, shipped via your favourite delivery folks so they have to be signed for.
Yeah, funny that. Son of a bitch.
Katy, please see my #74, above. Go get a huge ring of keys at the junkyard; they come on a big ring already. Better than any tambourine! You could even put a plaque in the middle of the ring, with snarky comment explaining it all.
Attack, Attack, Attack. Brand in the minds of the American public that McSame is nothing more than a rich elitist that has nothing in common with the lives most Americans live. Destroy, demolish and crush into dirt McCain and the ideology of avarice and greed of the Republican Party. If America is lucky, the heat put on these economic fascists in their gated enclaves will encourage them to immigrate to Paraguay in mass.
Locksmiths might also have errors, old keys, etc.
You’re right…I just couldn’t let that BS sit there unanswered.
that is so nasty
How DARE you attack former POW John McCain while his campaign offices are under attack?
-G
Paraguay just elected a former Bishop activist leftist, Fernando Lugo, as president. I think we can scratch Paraguay off the list of neocon safe havens.
What’s left for these bastards? How about Zimbabwe?
This grows!
Suppose a lot of us made these huge ring of keys TAMBOURINES with a plaque in the middle of the ring with snarky explanation, and we shook these doozies at every McCain related opportunity in public. Wanna bet the MSM will feature us right quick? This could go viral. It would be hard for McC to shake off. And the carnival atmosphere of it is just what gets attention in the MSM.
McJangles. It would be hilarious if, at the convention, tens of thousands of people jingle jangled their keys…It’s quite a good idea. Simple and sweet.
How about, “I’ve been foreclosed on…how many homes do YOU have?”
That is brilliant! Political street theater can have a huge impact. It points out the hypocrisy of McCain and the Republican ideology of greed. In 2000 I know union members that would show up at Bush 1 rallies dressed in chicken costumes to mock his refusal to debate. People in the streets laughed and the local media had a field day.
Wow! That youtube vid is remarkable and hits about every note I could imagine!
How about a map pocket with maps to houses
The Hague sounds real good to me.
I hope it’s being sent across the internets, especially to every registered Republican.
BINGO!!! How many cells does the Hague have available? So many Republicans deserving of long prison sentences for crimes against humanity.
This bunch is so keen on building more prisons for the corporate prison industry perhaps we could throw some of that business in the way of the local folks at The Hague.
He might be uncertain as to how many houses Jack and Ralph et al gave him.
You took the words out my mouth…and John McCain’s.
I wonder if this means Rudy Giuliani will be his pick for veep.
But, someone might ask him how many wives he has. That will help
clarify if he’s still considering the Mittster.
They were hoping that these prisons would be for the “coloreds” and the small people. What poetic justice if those prisons were to ultimately serve as the final home for countless Republicans.
Yeah, it’s not like being President requires much attention to details. Just a minor confusion over a detail like which country we’re going to attack next and we’d have some problems.
Maybe someone should ask him who we’re at war with?
Or, how many countries are we at war with.
Between the two of them they’ve got enough wives for a harem.
Rezko gave to both republicans and democratic candidates. Does anyone know if Bush?Cheney gave back the money he gave to them?.
McCain is not only confused as to how many houses he owns, he is also Confused on Foreign Affairs! For example, The Below link exposes and reveals John McCain’s really bad lack of knowledge regarding foreign affairs — supposedly his strong point!
http://www.independent.co.uk/o…..03998.html
It is unfoturnate that we have to get the truth from other countries rather than our Republican-owned main stream media — which is a derelict of duty to the American public. They failed us after 911 and they are still failing us now. Thank God we have the Internet and Blogs wherein we can find the truth.
Maybe one of you folks with a little pull in Democratic circles can gently suggest this to someone with some juice?
Workin’ on it.
