Hitler accuses Churchill of war crimes. That's the first thing that comes to mind upon hearing notorious silver-spoon hothead John Sidney McCain III say that the legendarily level-headed Barack Obama's getting "testy".
Remember, if you will, who's saying this. John McCain, the guy of whom fellow Republican Senator Pete Domenici once said "I Decided I Didn't Want This Guy Anywhere Near A Trigger."
John McCain, of whom another fellow Republican and former fellow Senator, New Hampshire's Bob Smith, said "His Temper Would Place This Country At Risk In International Affairs, And The World Perhaps In Danger. In My Mind, It Should Disqualify Him."
John McCain, of whom yet another fellow Republican Senator, Thad Cochran of Mississippi, said "The Thought Of His Being President Sends A Cold Chill Down My Spine."
This is the man who is reported to have told his wife Cindy, in front of a group of Arizona reporters, "At least I don't plaster on the makeup like a trollop, you c*nt."
And that's just for starters.

Leisure Guy!
yeah, I saw all of the above on an Obama ad. /s
Nice graphic, but I would replace with:

Time to rerun the “Daisy” ad.
Unfortunately, McBush’s bullshit is working.
This election is TIED.
New Pro-Obama book coming out soon …

This election is TIED.
Oh, don’t worry. Obama’s gettin’ ready to fix it all by picking another milquetoast for his running mate.
Digg IT!
Hey PW. Love the title!
Hitler accuses Churchill of war crimes.
Nixon accuses McGovern, the WW2 bomber veteran, of cowardice.
Ronald Reagan accuses Carter, the submarine veteran…of cowardice.
HW Bush/Atwater accuse Dukakis of softness on crime.
The entire Republican Party accuses BClinton of everything, including murder, treason, war crimes, cowardice, and dishonesty.
GW Bush accuses Gore of dishonesty.
Bush/Rove accuses Kerry of cowardice and dishonesty.
McCain/RNC accuses Obama of being “testy”.
Hell of a legacy you’ve dredged up here.
savvy
If we don’t fight the ‘pukes lie for lie, hit for hit, we will lose. The “high road” is the road to failure.
We can raise the level of discourse after we win. We must fight like our lives depend on it. Because they do.
McVain should be hit with every one of your links every single day from now until the election. If Obama won’t do it, someone else should!
Nice graphic, but the snarling one fits the topic better — and best yet, it’s not Photoshopped: McCain really did make that snarling psycho-old-man face.
Wonder if Obama’s ever heard of taking a knife to a gunfight, because that’s exactly what he’s doing.
Yeah, thanks to darkblack for the photoshop work, if you’re listening.
The other one is McCain in his “cone of silence.”
Did I miss the expected Wednesday announcement of Obama’s VP? Have I got the wrong Wednesday, or should we expect it shortly? It will be 9 pm in Denver in about an hour.
scary
McCain is D A N G E R O U S
pass it on
So, the veep has to have a sharp tongue. Sounds like Biden, to me.
fixed forya
The polls are tied.
The election isn’t until November.
Thanks. Tonight a friend mentioned that Obama only had easy elections for example, Alan Keyes but he wasn’t supposed to run against Keyes. The other candidate, Jack Ryan, had to drop out because of a messy divorce. Obama is a bright, thoughtful candidate and let’s hope that Obama has had easy elections because of his own doings.
I was of the impression Saturday is the big day?
Hi PW: Let’s add the the excellent material you mention, this from conservative Pat Buchannan, “Why McCain Would be Worse Than Bush”: http://www.buchanan.org/blog/?p=925
Yikes, one could use that pic on a POW. BTW, that doesn’t suggest torture. Or does it?
Obama is sinking like a stone. 50-50 now, 60-40 by elections, and not in the direction you prefer.
Wonder if Obama’s ever heard of taking a knife to a gunfight, because that’s exactly what he’s doing.
Evan Bayh would bring candy and flowers.
Captain Obvious speaks
next
Peashooter, me thinks. The false gentlementility of Lehrer and Bobo Brooks, which conceals the rawness of what they cover, ought not to lull Obama into imitating it.
If he does, it’s who he is: he didn’t survive local organizing and politics in Chicago or Harvard Law, or make it from Springfield, IL, to the US Senate, by being slow to recognize ambition, aggression and bullshit thrown his way.
I’ll wake you in 2012
Sounds like you just made an Obama commercial PW after all if McCain’s fellow Republicans say something mean about McCain then it is not a Partisan Attack and that means Obama can use it.
After all we know Holy Joe will be throwing some zingers toward Obama at the convention.
Or Geraldine Ferraro…
Pointless speculation but I’ve sometimes thought Richard Clarke might be a good choice. I confess I have no idea of his positions on domestic issues unrelated to national security.
The trick for the Obama campaign is to get something trivial (the more trivial, the better) but ironclad and then work it to death. For example, if they’ve got the goods, the fact that McCain is no longer an honorable man because he cheated on the Saddleback Forum. Make sure it’s iron clad, but then give no quarter. It makes no difference that it is trivial.
You forgot one.
GWBush accused McCain of having a black baby.
constipation
See I think taunting him into a rage is the winner. A few psychologists with credentials at the next presser…voila Mt McKaniac.
His campaign gives no evidence of having a clue, and “yes,” I believe that comes from the top.
If any of us is still here by 2012.
This gives a chance to pull Obama Left and if he ignore us then the Center Dems will take all the blame.
is the campaign really that bad? (i haven’t turned the tv on in months and haven’t been reading polls or watching the commercials, pundits, etc)
For breakfast?
I haz a bunker
The logic train seems to work like this:
You can’t get a message across unless you control the discussion
You can’t control the discussion unless you can get reporters to cover your message.
You can’t get them to cover anything except insults- as that’s the kind of event they think they’re covering.
It’s not at this point that Obama needs to tear down McBush for it’s own sake- he needs to attack McBush in order to get any AIR TIME.
Reporters think this is a prize fight and if no punches are thrown there’s nothing to report.
Anyway, since McCain is the nominee the spin would be that it makes him Jeffersonian.
Shows how closely I follow politics.
Yup.
George McGovern, who was one of the best bomber commanders to sit in a plane in WWII.
Jimmy Carter, who as part of an repair crew leaped into the Chalk River nuclear reactor as it was melting down and lived to tell about it.
Let’s not forget Max Cleland, who left three of his four limbs in Vietnam, being called a traitor by Saxby Chambliss, who avoided serving in the Vietnam War.
Thing is, Obama was beating Jack Ryan in the polls even before the divorce-court proceeding became public. He was stomping Ryan by a twenty-two-point margin.
Today McSame made a booboo on the DRAFT. Can you imagine using that against him?. It would be great. I beleive Obama will come out fighting after the conention. All the Dems have been quiet. I think this is going to be a major 50 state blow out. AllDems in 50 States will have their talking points and Obama will do the rest. I hall all the faith in the world in the guy. I signed up for his office opeing up here in Killeen TX. And I talk to a lot of Military and they are really rooting for Obama.
The MSM I’m sure is talking these polls up which I’m pretty sure I don’t believe but who cares we need to get the meme out Obama went to far Right and now he is paying the price.
Coming to your Q with a bias, as you know. But I listened to about 10 minutes of Obama’s VFW speech, and it was uninspired in the extreme. My window included the part about don’t-you-dare-question-my-patriotism part. I thought Obama’s one claim to fame was making a good speech, and now he can’t even do that.
And he insults his base at every possible opportunity.
And he’s actually 5 points behind in the latest poll, and he’s behind in electoral votes, if you use the measure that excludes too close to call, and he keeps calling McCain an honorable man, and, and, and.
Can’t see how it goes up from here. People keep doing the same thing over & over.
You may be the last sane person in America.
Another Obama commercial!
I could very well be mistaken. Obama was supposedly making an appearance in Springfield, IL on Saturday, which is where he first announced his campaign. Today I was reading that he has a major campaign event in Indianapolis Saturday, fueling suspicions that the nominee will be Bayh.
Got a librul friend with about 2 dozen guns (hunter and sport shooter). I’ve already told him I’m showing up at his door when the time comes. On top of that, he’s the second nicest man I’ve ever known, the first nicest having died in an auto accident about 15 years ago, and I still miss him.
This cheers me up. An email and link from my young nephew (late 20s):
Evidently the slogan of the Republican party “The change you deserve” is also the trademarked slogan for the antidepressant Effexor.
http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/ea0b05d406
Are these “kids” being counted in the polls?
And the repubs have a catchy theme for their convention….’Country First’. Personally, the irony is more than I can handle. But it will appeal to the uninformed.
Yep we are so not getting the blame if Obama loses the Blue Dogs Harry, Nancy, Rahm and Steny can take this the blame for 3 in a row.
Hi PW,
How is the Northern Tundra? I’m trying to work out something to come home to MN next month for a couple of weeks. It will be nice. Here youv’e had some nice weather up there? How is the 35 Bridge coming along? I used to dislike taking 35 through town to go up north, maybe a newer one will not be so bad.
Mab, bad, and denagerous to know….
also:
Mad, bad, and dangerous to know.
So, did pilots in McCain’s flying days have call signs like in Top Gun? If so, was his something embarrassing?
Let’s just hope it doesn’t come to that.
Oh, and keep it on the QT ’bout yer “librul” friend, ‘kay?
thanks, your bias may not be all the different than mine. but i have no info.
yeah, but would it be post-partisan? that’s what really matters…for the campaign staff, anyway.
sigh.
I agree with Scarecrow @ 53. Ignoring TV and polls would probably benefit most of us.
The night of September 11/12, 2001 I watched TV all night. In the morning I unplugged the TV and didn’t plug it in again for two weeks. I wasn’t trying to ignore the news, I just didn’t want those videos seared into my brain. Alas, the effort was futile.
Maverick?CallTheFuckingGroundCrew!
oh, then we are in even more trouble than i thought.*g*
Or something true to life like CrashDown?
still, i bet if you hadn’t pulled the plug it would have been worse.
Whenever I hear that I am reminded of the H.L. Mencken quote, “Democracy is the theory that the common man knows what he wants and deserves to get it good and hard.”
If McCain is the change we deserve, we must have done something very bad indeed.
Obama’s is the best run campaign I have ever seen, as I have said many times before. I have no reason to believe that it suddenly is going to fall apart now at the end. I think they know what they are doing and the polls mean absolutely nothing. I also don’t think the race is tied. IMO
Flameout?
No, it’s not bad at all.
Obama almost doubled McInsane’s fundraising last month. The DNC raised more than the RNC. McInsane will be switching to public funding next month and will be limited to an amount for the rest of the campaign that Obama might raise in one month.
This dip in polls has been a 6-7% swing on the poll of polls list, and swings of this nature are quite common in a Prez campaign (it’s mid-August fer chrissakes). The latest Electoral Vote map that has some all worried factored McInsane winning FL, OH, and VA even though those are basically tied in the polling average. Obama wins one of those three states, he wins even giving them all their other flawed assumptions. Obama could very well win all three of those states based on current polls. EV are what matters, just like superdelegates in the primary season. Team Obama had the Dem race won basically in a month and half with their highly secretive and surgical strategy, and it was all based on ground game. Same thing is happening now.
I’ve volunteered for campaigns for the last several Dem Prez candidates in various parts of the country. I’ve never seen anything like what’s happening right now with the Obama campaign. It’s breathtaking actually.
I’m guessing much of the nay-saying and throw in the towel attitude is by judging the race through the Conglomerate Media filter, of which polls play a large role.
thanks for your take from the volunteer view.
I can’t believe McCain is seriously considering putting Lieberman on the ticket but if he does, I’d be willing to bet he’ll drop like a rock. Better not to put that theory to the test though, because I don’t think Jane could stand it.
Thanks for pointing that out. I’ve been spreading the word about that for a while, since you often see that line about Obama only beating Ryan because of the sex scandal.
Still hoping for an Obama/Gore, McInsane/Lieberman race. How ironic, huh?
(although would prefer Howard Dean over Gore…)
Not certain I detect the irony but my magnets might be failing. In Vegas you could probably get odds of a million to one but it would be interesting.
Truly, I don’t care who the VP is so long as McCain’s ambition remains unfulfilled.
obamadodd(pod)
Teddy upstairs.
Love how the McInsane team doesn’t deny Panama John said the “c*nt” and “trollop” line about Cindy. They just said he was tired or something like that.
And some recent poll is claiming that 18% of Hillary backers are going to vote for McInsane. Gotta love those DLCers!
Gore/Lieberman ‘00? Now potentially running against each other as VPs in ‘08?
Still seems to fall more in the category of unlikely coincidence than irony but my brain is acting sluggish (more than usual) tonight.
I thought in ‘00 Lieberman was a terrible choice. With a better nominee the outcome might not have been so close and we could have avoided the train wreck that is Bush.
Yes, a little Alanis Morrisette-type irony…
“I’ve got one hand in my pocket, and the other is hailing a taxi cab! Isn’t it ironic, don’t ya think?” Well, no.
The day they announced Traitor Joe, the first thing I said was it’s over. A lot of people knew what he was about even back then.
Yeah, but Obama’s no Churchill, and Churchill was a war criminal all the same.
This is all calculated. He’s a millionaire so he calls Obama an elitist. He will say and do anything to be president, so he says Obama is putting his ambition over his country. He’s a hot-head, so he calls Obama ‘testy’. KARL ROVE TACTICS…HILLARY USED THEM TOO.
