First off I don’t know if Michelle Malkin is an anchor baby and furthermore I don’t care. I consider her a piece of toxic waste! Secondly, I am the child of immigrants. My mother and paternal grandparents came here from Ireland and during the late Forties, my father sponsored three relatives to come here. They all followed the law.
This being said, a person who knowingly enters this country illegally is breaking the law, though a civil law, it is still a crime. I have a question that is rarely addressed, where is the compassion for the low skilled and un-skilled people who are the first to lose their jobs to illegal immigrants. For example, ten years ago the average wage in the meat packing industry was $20hr. with some benefits, now the average wage is between $9 to $13hr.,with little to no benefits and greatly increased unsafe working conditions. Guess who the vast majority of people were who lost their jobs. Bingo, legal Hispanic immigrants and Hispanic and African Americans. African American women used to be the majority of employees in the chicken processing plants in the South, but not anymore. Wages were cut and illegals were hired. This same economic pattern has taken place in the construction and agriculture sectors. Cesar Chavez was opposed to illegal immigrants, because he knew that the large farmers would use them to break the union, United Farm Workers, lower wages and worsen working conditions. One last point, when immigration reform is addressed, the enviromental impact of the growing population must be part of the equation. In the two areas that are experiencing rapid population growth, the southeast and the southwest, they are also experiencing a chronic drought. Our country has a finite supply of resources and we must plan accordingly. Peace!

To JohnfromBoston,

Do you know how impossible broken the U.S. immigration system is, and that there’s no real way for the vast majority of people to “follow the law” as you have said. Do your research. This law frame is what nativists use to inflict mass terror upon millions of migrants in the U.S., most of them people of color.

I had no idea Michelle Malkin was an “anchor baby” until I read this post. Hilarious. The hypocrisy and the irony just never stop when it comes to the U.S. migration debate.

David Ortiz became A U.S. citizen on June 11, 2008. He took the oath of citizenship with 226 other new citizens in Boston. Gee wiz, they all followed the law and became citizens!

Au contraire, mon ami! We need to trumpet this loudly and repeatedly to all of these immigrant bashing assholes. The we get to sit back and watch their tiny little heads explode. 8-)

minorities are good just as long as they stay in their place. Sports and entertainment. God forbid that one should try to get out of that segment of society and try something else…..oh, wait.

He’s also rested and recharged vs a wrinkly white guy who has to limit his campaign appearances to one a day cuz he can’t physically hack it. The difference will be even more apparent now.

I remain optimistic.

It’s so classy that McSame was able to pull even with Obama in the polls. I know the polls can’t be trusted but now that Obama is back he is on the defensive beating back the attacks of the Republicans and their surrogates in the corporate media. Being classy does not win elections.

They would have to change the constitution to do that. Oh yeah and wouldn’t that affect Romney or Juan McCain.
