Some of you may have already seen John Gorenfeld’s farewell post at the Campaign Silo. Unfortunately, the job of running a campaign site in an election year is an extremely time-consuming one, and John found that he needed to step back from the job of heading up our coverage of Election 2008. He was doing a superb job of reshaping the site, and we’re sorry to see him go.
As unfortunate as that news is, though, we’ve been even more fortunate in our quick search to replace him. Because heading up the Campaign Silo, beginning this morning, will be Lindsay Beyerstein.
Lindsay is a longtime friend of FDL, having posted here a couple of times. Mostly, I expect you’ll know her from her amazing work at her blog Majikthise. (For a sampling of her first-rate reportage, check out her Friday post reporting on Henry Waxman calling out John McCain.) She’s smart as a whip, a superb writer, an amazing font of information and insight, and has all the makings of a great political reporter. We feel lucky to have her joining the team.
Please welcome Lindsay, check out the posts we’ll feature on today’s front page, and watch her carefully. I think you’ll be impressed.

There’s one constant in life –
Joe Lieberman’s whiningChange.Everyone’s efforts to chart a new course in the New Media landscape is greatly appreciated. Full steam ahead!
Lindsay is one of the best in the game. Welcome to the family.
TOTALLY OT but important
oops. pushed wrong button
Anyway there’s a malicious bug hitting Firefox. Those who normally use it might want to switch to a different browser until it’s fixed.
Thing I like best about “the new media landscape” is rather than being pigeoned to watch corporate ads on TV matched with massive coercion by pathetic pundits, I can ignore the ads and pundits click on a “hyper links” providing evidence and facts to support or destroy a position, without spin! Google everything, CIA Fact Book… Wikipedia… C-span and then again your local library. Question everything!
Talking with mom how “information” via newspapers, radio, then TV is all a function of ad space thereby limiting information and the disintegration of responsible media? The internet has decimated being pigeoned towards ads while held captive by some
newspropaganda station, reality show, or sports events!Today’s citizen who rely on traditional “media outlets” are at an informational disadvantage, instead brainwashed by “..men in little black boxes.” ??? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S…..ierkegaard
“The man who reads nothing at all is better educated than the man who reads nothing but newspapers.”
Thomas Jefferson
“I read no newspaper now but Ritchie’s, and in that chiefly the advertisements, for they contain the only truths to be relied on in a newspaper.”
Thomas Jefferson, Letter to Nathaniel Macon, January 12, 1819
“…to chart a new course in the New Media landscape is greatly appreciated. Full steam ahead.” Right On Bonkers.
“The will of the people is the only legitimate foundation of any government, and to protect its free expression should be our first object.”
Thomas Jefferson
Jefferson would be proud!
Lindsay, welcome to the Lake.
A really fine choice. I’ve been a fan of Lindsay for a long time and have really appreciated her development. She continues a distinguished family line. Barry (her late father) would be/is so very proud of her accomplishments.
