Bill Richardson?
He might as well pick John Edwards.
Tagline for a future Obama ad:
Will John McCain’s oath of office mean any more than his first wedding vows?
Hey, I can dream.
Ouch.

Speaking of McCain cheating, here’s a different aspect.
http://rawstory.com/news/2008/….._0817.html
IIRC Bill Richardson has ecxecutive experience in a state where politics is comparable to the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party. Bill just might be experienced enough to handle national politics. ¿Quien sabes? (opinion)
Mornin’, BT, Lady Jane, eCAHN
Musharraf resigns, is guaranteed “safe passage” out of the country and the State Dept has made no offer of asylum to him. Loyalty in Shrub’s world works only one way – from the bottom up.
Another in our continuing series of Bloom County.
Agree that what is happening in Ohio isn’t good. I’m beginning to think that Obama will have to go to Hillary for VP to shore up the White working class vote, which he is going to lose anyway but it would be nice to cut the margin of loss. Good and relevant post by Krugman this morning on his flatness with respect to the state of the economy for ordinary people.
Yet another example of heads of state not being held accountable for misdeeds. Which in turns leads to worse & worse leaders, because they know there’s no punishment for bad behavior. Apparently Bhutto’s husband (Mr. 10%, or as the analyst on CSPAN related, some say Mr. 40%) is also going to get a free pass.
He’s been getting a free pass for years. They’re even considering him running for prez but he says he would prefer that a woman run. There must be something in the water the rich and corrupt drink. They can do as they please with no consequences. We raised hell with Nixon, screaming about no person being above the law. So much for that.
Good Morning Blue Texan and Firedogs -
Prick Warren will appear on Larry King tonight -
here’s a Kos diary about asking him questions if you are so inclined:
Link
contains a few hints about getting your question on the air :D
Crooks and Liars has 10 questions Warren should have asked
So, shall we place a small, insignificant wager: will any MSM reporter actually do any independent research (the posters at Daily Kos have been working on it) and report this story? I, of course, vote no.
There’s a line in one of John Trudell’s songs on “Bone Days” that goes:
The rule of law
is the law of rule
I don’t think Hispanic voters will care about the rumors unlike McCain, Bill never left his wife after a crippling car accident.
Getting out the Hispanic vote however should put a lot of Western states into play.
We were never going to get the Lou Dobbs voter so lets activate our base.
Now Obama just needs to reach women. How best to do that?
Bwahahahha. MSM report story that possibly McCain plagarized. What a funny idea.
My almost 90 yr old father-in-law pays very close attention to politics. One of the first things he said about the mega-church “townhall” was that McCain knew exactly what Warren’s questions would be & had prepared. In fact, my fil wondered if McCain knew the questions long before saturday.
full disclosure: that is me and not Mr Cbl up there @ 11
There appears to be an uniform look about all these nutjobs. They’re all, shall we say, portly with short goatees. Norquist, the Kagans, Warren, et al.
I watched McCain only for a short time at the beginning. He seemed marvelously well prepared. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if he had the Qs in advance.
Potty mouth.
For Richer for Poorer in Sickness and in Health
What part of the Wedding Vows says at least until a rich young blond comes around who is young enough to be your daughter if you started having kids at at 17? Cindy is 54 John is 71.
Ah parochial America rides again. For gosh sakes why is it that sex is such a taboo in this country. I guess the puritans still rule the roost. I am constantly amazed at the pathetic reactions to a, horrors, bared breast on TeeVee but violence and mayhem is glorified. It is SEX people not murder, not genocide, not torture, not ripping up the Constitution.
Either given to him ahead of of time or somebody watching Obama and feeding the questions to staff via cell. I vote for the former. Another of the times I’m glad I’m not forking over any dough for cable.
Sex scares ‘em. It’s all those hairy palm warnings.
I think it’s the “for richer” part.
He seemed even better prepared than the cell phone connection suggests. He sounded like his answers were crafted by his speech writers. Just my casual observation, no evidence.
Just a thought on McCain lying about whether he’d heard Warren’s questions in advance at Saddleback and the response by his campaign that as a prisoner of war, he’d never lie: Aren’t prisoners of war expected to lie as a matter of course. Don’t they get specific training in lying to their captors? Isn’t a prisoner of war the exact person you’d expect to be an expert in lying?
Just wondering…
Wouldn’t surprise me a bit. Lying, cheating and stealing comes naturally to these people.
i commented on late night this morning that we needed karen armstrong to host a forum, she’s sold more books than rick warren….but that wouldn’t be fair to mccain, he wouln’t understand her complex auestions….but then obama can’t answer simply–is one of the things i like about hims, his ability to take in complex things immediately..our country faces complex problems, we need someone who can grasp them….he needs a vp who can answer ’simply’ to balance that out. to translate. not endorsing kaine, but i think it’ll be someone like him for this reason. someone who thinks on his feet and can grasp and spit out the ’simple’.
thanks for the link ecahn…sometimes in life similar human experiences can happen to people, but i don’t think that is the case here.
bbl
i don’t think the problem is about the sex part – i think it’s about the demeaning women part:
my bold and from jane’s link.
But what about all the money we gave
PakistanMusharraf will the press ever ask what happened to our money? I thought that the cash was a bribe so we could get Ossama so, No Ossama why did we give Musharraf the money again?I’m thinking that if Musharraf had used the money to build Pakistan like he was suppose to then he would not have been thrown out of power.
warren was interviewed on cnn, said he told both of them the subjects, but not the questions.
kinda left out that’part in the middle’ didn’t he?
bbl
Military personnel are instructed to deceive their captors if possible but we were also warned that if you’re caught in a lie the consequences could be dire. Dire is left to the imagination.
the plagiarized cross in the sand story apparently originated with Freepers -
have been saying this for a while now – so much of the open source media info/links on the real mccain has come from them and their hatred of him
despite the polling news out of Ohio, would love to wake up a wednesday in November with him defeated and being able to taunt those idiots with it – the gooper naderites – who knew ?
ecahn@19:
When I thought about how McCain seemed so well prepared for these questions yet he has floundered & flubbed up almost every time he has opened his mouth for months now, the contrast is striking.
Exactly.
In the WaPo this morning the article stated that our money had enabled to make Pakistan an economic power in the region. WTF does that mean? Doesn’t appear that it got very fair down the food chain.
Yep and obama does not like whitey and michelle does not like ‘merca… jiminy cricket I want facts not rumours. If sex were considered a normal part of life and not some icky thing to be done behind closed doors with the lights out this kind of rumour would be just so much chaff. It is the American puritanism that makes rumours like this so potent and so pathetic.
Morning all,
It was my impression McSame was enroute while Obama was on stage. Many of those vehicles have tvs.
Seemed to me that he heard some of the questions. I missed the part where he said “let’s go back to the Supreme Court question.” But when he was asked the Supreme Court question, he answered that without a pause to reflect on which justices he’d toss, or even which justices are on the Supreme Court. That question in particular, he seemed to know he’d be asked.
Geez, I butchered that.
edit – …that our money had enabled
to make PakistanPakistan to become an economic power in…Preview is mah fren
Now, now………
Good morning Cbl.
Thanks for all the linkys BT.
I honestly don’t think McCain will make it to November. His aging process seems to have accelerated 10 fold in the last few months. His brain is gone. He looks like he’s embalmed. He’s so out of touch with the current world that the only thing that could save him is that most of America is out of touch as well.
I’ll have to go with him being given the questions before hand. I don’t think McSFB could respond as well as he apparently did without practice.
War heroes always win. Voters are more influenced by that than by his current performance.
Off to swim in the great capitalist cesspool.
And buy a new grill for the hurricane. Hurricane Party!!!
Be good to yourselves, and all other living things.
Namaste
steve reports not just rumors – have you read his post?
Yep but if we push that fact the divorced women vote is ours. McCain never thought that one of the possible consequences of leaving his injured wife might be losing the Presidency.
We can brand this election on this issue and make cheating and leaving your wife pulling a McCain and if Obama wins people might wonder about the consequences of marriage both leaving and getting married in the first place a debate that I think we need as a Nation.
After all there are lots of over achievers in politics with long term goals and plans and if common political wisdom says McCain lost the woman vote because in part he left his first wife after she was injured.
Then the nation will start talking.
whoops – should be pRick Warren . . .that much smaller p conveys so much more :D
Maybe, but it won’t happen. Don’t I also remember that his first wife forgave him & is supporting him for prez? (Might have made that up; have no idea where that came from.) Unless she raises the issue, it’s dead IMO.
The abandoning of his wife has something to do w/ all voters – if he will do that to his wife & children what will he do to you. As far as his demeaning of women there are many additional instances to make the case
not me. i don’t care that divorced his wife, i don’t even care that he cheated on her. i do care if he was able to provide for her needs and did not (especially health care, etc).
but mostly i care that the man is a raving lunatic when it comes to warmondering.
being a POW does not = war hero …imho
Pakistan an economic power then why did Musharraf have to leave Pakistan is an oligarchy when the army isn’t running the country has Pakistan’s GDP gone up a lot?
Oh wait Opium sales I understand the profits go to Swiss bank accounts though not the general economy. Or to drug lord villas as opposed to money making ventures like factories, roads etc.
being a pow does not = war hero…imho
…. continuing… here’s some more from steve on richarson:
this isn’t about sex. it’s about how women are treated in the workplace.
sorry for double post……….Obama needs to STOP calling McSame a Patriot and Hero………….what did he do that was HEROIC…can somebody please tell me
“[McCain] may have had some ability to overhear what the questions were to Obama.”
McCain absolutely may have had some ability to overhear what the questions were to Obama. Davis tells us that McCain was in a motor vehicle during the first portion of Obama’s interview. In a motor vehicle, one may use the radio, a cellphone, a Blackberry, Bluetooth Wireless, a Slingbox, and perhaps a satellite TV feed. Whether McCain actually used any of those devices, we have no idea. But he absolutely had the ability to use them, which is all that Mitchell had reported.
Also, note Davis’s oddly-specific language to describe the situation in the green room. He says that the green room lacked a “broadcast feed”. However, it presumably had cellphone and Internet access. If you want to get really technical, it perhaps also could have had a CCTV feed, which might be distinguished from a “broadcast feed”.
This is an exceptionally bizarre response by the McCain campaign. Note, once more, that the McCain campaign has not refuted the substance of the reports. In fact, they seem to have confirmed substantial portions of them. But they are attempting to distract from the situation by saying that neither the media nor the Obama campaign has the standing to ask the question.
I don’t really understand what the McCain campaign is trying to accomplish. Putting out a letter like this would seem to increase the amount of scrutiny on the issue. There are much better times to play the “blame the media” card, i.e., when the facts are more on their side.
http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/
Jane’s upstairs
crossing out McCain
And
Facts? I think not.
No its not dead people will assume that she is sacrificing herself again and doing whats best for her kids and having a Dad who is President is certainly that.
If anything it will play into every divorced woman who has lost cash, status etc and gave up something for their kids benefit in a divorce.
John McCain’s story with his first wife will piss divorced women off.
i didn’t say facts – said that this was more than rumors. steve specifically refers to a specific meeting and says there are lots of eyewitnesses.
but that’s not my point. my point is that this has NOTHING to do with sex – it’s about how women are treated in the workplace. you want to argue that richardson is innocent of doing anything wrong or that the evidence that steve has is not sufficient to have written the post he did? be my guest.
but when you make the claim that the issue is about sex and puritanism, i’m going to object.
Drive by on the way out the door.
You had it right the first time. POW in caps is correct, as in POW/MIA. Still a big issue with some of us.
Selise I think the 2 may be related Foothillsmike at 51 gets what I’m trying to say.
Sure its nice that John used his second wife’s cash to provide for the first wife but that was because she had so much it was an easy thing to do.
John gave up on his first wife like he gave up on torture despite being tortured himself.
John hugged Bush the guy who called his adopted kid a bastard. John is doing a fund raiser with Ralph Reed a guy he tied up with Jack Abramhoff who he investgated.
John will sell out his wife to trade up for younger and richer. He will pimp out being a POW and then sell out future POWs by supporting torture. He will hug Bush just to be President nomatter how that makes his adopted kid feel.
I think there is a pattern of behavior here.
I have read, and re-read the post by Clemons who, by the way, has an axe to grind against Richardson, and can find no FACTS. If there were “eye witnesses” to the rumoured events then where the heck are those eye witenesses? This diatribe against Richardson was written in January of 2007, plenty of time for eye witnesses to come forward. It seems to me in reading the piece that Clemons is trying to promote himself as the great savior, ready to slay the Bolton Beast, only to be undermined by those darn Senators. Rumours, innuendo and non-existent eye witnesses are not good enough.
I hate to say this, because I really want Obama to win. But I am also pissed. Two words. NAFTA. Ohio. Obama needs to rethink that “overheated campaign rhetoric” and throw Austin Goulsbee et al to the curb. Like Pronto. No rally is going to affect disenchantment with policy positions. Blue collar democrats are not stupid. This is one of the reasons I believe, Obama lost to Clinton in Ohio in the primary.
But McCain doesn’t suggest any change in free trade. He doesn’t even offer much in the way of new industry. I’m afraid that if such opposition exists among blue collar workers, it comes from much more primitive reflexes.
That hardly matters if some Dems are so pissed they decide to stay at home, because they feel neither candidate offers a differing version on trade.
Rule no 1 in campaigning. Never assume that other Dems are about “primitive reflexes,” especially blue collar workers. If persons are treated as intelligent thinking persons, than they will return the favor.
Wrong. This household is not voting for either corporate candidate because both of them are “more of the same”. Both are bought and paid for by the MIC, neither could be trusted to keep their word, neither could be trusted not to do what their corporate masters dictate. This household, two votes, will be going to McKinney
If you’re right, in speaking for the whole class, I’ll expect to see McKinney get a fair number of electoral votes from the industrial midwest.
And I suppose that is referred to as “primitive reflex?”
Noone speaks for the whole class. Persons will vary in deciding whether its better to pick the better poison, or just vote green, or just sit things out feeling disenfranchised. I am hoping folks will vote for Obama though.
I hope you’re right, but I don’t think anyone has talked down to them. I grew up in a blue collar family, with Dad as officer in the local International Typographical Union. I was a member of UAW while working through college. I am stronly pro union and am coming increasingly to believe the protectionism might be the only way to provide some semblance of a fairer sustainable national economy.
I do feel Obama is less of the same, which is McSame. And I am uttering a Noam Chomsky quote as my mantra.
I do believe that you will see a number of “other than the two we have been told to vote for” votes cast whether they be for Paul, Barr, McKinney or even that lowest form of dirt financed by the Rovian forces, nadir.
“overheated campaign rhetoric” on NAFTA. That was talking down in a sleazy politician way.
Well, neither of us will ever know for sure why people vote the way they do. I’ve personally ecountered more people who are bigoted, rather than those who think that McCain is better on protecting U.S. jobs or that both candidates are equally representative of the same ruling oligarchy. Again, I personally hope that you, nomolos, and I are all wrong, and the critical midwest states go for Oboma.
Something odd about the PPP poll of Ohio. Women support Obama by 47-42% and were 55% of those actually sampled/responded. Yet McCain and Obama are even?
http://www.publicpolicypolling…..io_818.pdf
Judging by those numbers…of those that responded and have decided on who they want to vote for you should get a 57.76 to 42.23 difference in favor of Obama.
