Dang, you been busy!
Good morning, Elliott! You’re doing an amazing job with the talking heads — an enormous amount of information. I’ve brought some of eCAHNomics’ homemade peach preserves up from downstairs, as well as the croissants she supplied. Enjoy.
Morning Busted!
Check out this headline
Some wonder if McCain’s too old and wrinkly to be president
Morning Marion, thanks.
Glad to hear you got some rain. Not as glad as you or your asparagus tho!
I just got woke up at four thirty in the morning by my ex girlfriends kid who somehow managed to punch a hole in the oil pan of his girfriends jeep while out screwing round 4×4 ing.
After groggily trying to tell the kid there is no quick fix and him arguing and generally pissing me off I had to yell at him real good and tell him she can’t drive it, period and the only fix is to take it off and weld it up or replace it.
Kids, ya gotta love ‘em
Gnite, I’m going back to sleep.
You mean you just can’t slap a piece of duct tape on?! Sleep well.
Actually I did, just to get them home. Clean it off, put something in the hole, put a little piece of plastic over it and then duct tape the shit out of it.
And I was joking…! I guess they’re right — you CAN fix anything with duct tape, at least for the short term.
Good morning.
Brzezinki’s son speaks as though he was taught to ape his father starting in his high chair.
I have a new mind game…….guess whether an article comes from McClatchy *before* checking source. Probably close to a 100% at this point. They seem to be the only news organization that still has some reality foundation these days.
Good Morning everyone. I just returned from Rhode Island where this was big news. Note it was written by a staff reporter. Has this become national news yet?
http://www.projo.com/news/cont…..2149a.html
Hooray, a choice, either the above
or courtesy BBC News’ never ending search for news to edify and illuminate

a report on flat-earthers, you knew they were around, didn’t you, Mr Jones?
Good Morning, I hate to say I slept terribly. The debate keep playing in my head…..I have 2 thoughts.
McCain says life starts at conception…reminds me of a story about Babe Ruth that he liked to smoke a cigar after the “deed” with his lady friend (numerous, as it is told). I guess life starts right about the time one lights up the first smoke.
Listening to the ranting, pressured speech of Sen.Mc, I am wondering if we have reached the point that Pres. candidates should be drug tested. Ya’ think.
I work this morning; I hope the day gets better. (Woman Africa-AM. saying Obama started the race card by his dollar bill remark.) Should I just go back to bed?
Good morning all
T-Bear is Sen Inhoff the head of the american chapter?
An editorial in today’s NYT on Ng.
Brzezinski’s son just said that Chavez in Venezuela is a threat to the U.S. Maybe I’ll just resign from the U.S.
The question about when life begins reminds me of this joke.
Thanks, Marion.
Thank you for a great chuckle.
don’t do that! we need you here!
Snort! Mr. Marion in Savannah and I often fantasize about being able to do something like take a trip “next year, when the cats are dead.”
Speaking of Brzezinski, is he Mika’s brother? I thought he worked for McCain.
that item was buried last week. I think only bloggers paid attention. Digby usually picks up those stories.
Obama’s advisor sure sounds like Bush lite. It’s pretty hopeless IMO.
elliot – great list as usual. am i blind or is there no mention of what i think ought to be blockbuster news: france’s role in the rwandan genocide?
Here’s the Aug. 13 article in the NYT.
not just bloggers – the best national news show, democracy now! reported it during their headline news on wednesday:
IIRC it was The Duchy of Gran Fenwick that was the threat, and W’d it and won. Like what is the dog going to do with a car, once he’s got hold of the tyre.
I don’t think it is allowed to resign, small print somewhere. ;-)
the dad is obama’s supporter, the son mccain’s (at least i think so).
Here’s another one that prolly none of us had heard about—certainly the news hasn’t written about —yet. Atrios linked to it this morning.
Nope. Both support Obama. Mark (son) was billed as an Obama foreign policy advisor.
Rather succinct post on how BO should continue his campaign to lose the election. I can’t say that I disagree with a word he says.
i’m wrong – according to both cspan and wikipedia mark (the brzezinski son) is a supporter of obama. could have sworn i’ve heard zbig describe his son as a republican.
I clearly remember Mika saying that her bro was working for McCain.
CBS will be interesting with two VP options talking about their candidates… http://www.enewsreference.wordpress.com
neither of which we ever want to see given the nod. Hopefully they will show why they should not be on the ticket for all to see. Oh, and yet another reason for Buh Bayh.
Perhaps she was referring to Ian Brzezinski, current U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for European and NATO Affairs
I’m off. Y’all have great days.
Here is what the BBC reported, note the date
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7542249.stm
Note also the woman’s condition, as well as she had been shot in the chest IIRC
perotcharts.com
really.
Do you think that the talking heads will tell us all about Hawaii and how much fun it was to be on vacation while Russia invaded Georgia? How was the water? What about the food? Were your accomodations up to par?
Here is what the Timesonline reported, also note the date

While Condi is frowning on NBC
I also had a comment in the news box article here, I hope all the links still work.

Fabulous tool for explaining the mess to the willfully ignorant. Here’s a linky to the Perot Charts site.
Good morning FDL.
Well, I’ve put it off long enough. It’s time to do my most favoritest thing in the whole wide world — clean the litter box. Like MacArthur, I shall return.
I wanted to say, State Farm Florida is asking for a 47% increase in home owners rates in Florida. And they are dropping 50,000 existing customers. I should mention that State Farm, the national company is showing a nice profit and would not need to raise rates at all or just a liitle bit, however by creating a subisidary, they can really jack up the rates.
I usually laugh out loud when I read Chris Matthews’ topics but this question is a good one
Does Bush need McCain to win to bolster his own legacy?
Of course, he does, otherwise Rove goes to the slammer!
I think a stern letter is about all we can expect.
Rove going to the slammer is such a nice image to gaze at tho.
it’s not to much to ask imo
Good Morning Elliot and Firedogs,
RevDeb @ 30 – FDL has covered that story
skimming last night’s live blogging Saddleback, our Blue Tex gives it to Obama in a walk – he apparently missed Candy Crowley’s scintillating and very hot Lemming on Maverick action (uh ma gawd)
if MSNBC stands for McCain Simply, Nation’s Best Choice, what in bloody hell does CNN stand for ?!?!?
Crowley Noms Nads ???
John McCain is an empty suit because all he talks about is his POW experience and nothing else. It’s all he has. War stories and illegal wars.
I couldn’t agree more, he deserves it.
So was the father, until the Israel Lobby objected.
hey there’s Bill Sammon on the Fox News AllStars.
He is a very big person
Blue Tex may have given it to BO but I don’t think the audience did. Mr. Rev was ready to shoot himself after last night’s performance.
but as long as we’re in 2 wars and perhaps another or two coming, he still appeals to the low info voter of which we have an abundance. He should be scaring the crap out of everyone, but not so much so far.
He is a principal at Booz Allen Hamilton, who have contracts with the NSA and Homeland Security. He and his father(The Grand Chessboard) advise Obama on Foreign Policy.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Booz_Allen_Hamilton
tivo’d but haven’t watched it yet . . .and maybe I’ll just follow Mr Rev’s lead and not bother
still think this was more about Warren taking the national stage and all that gravitas goodness while Dobson and the others pout on the sidelines :D
She’s baaaack…. For the lawyerly inclined in the group here’s the habeas petition for Hiu Lui Ng, whom we were discussing earlier.
There is so much to grin about these days for Sarkozy and Rice. Why didn’t they flash the peace sign while they were at it?
agreed
Pig MissileDana Perino is Power Player of the Week on FoxThat “pig missile” nickname makes me howl every time I see it!
She had a rough week. It’s not easy to sell naked aggression to the rest of the world when they already know the backstory.
this is what I agreed with cbl
sheesh I didn’t even noticed I had the wrong copy pasted.
Are you talking about these people…

????
Bah hahahahahaha!
David Sandalow, Obama’s energy advisor, is the Newsmaker interview
sticking with the Crowley Noms Nuts theme . . .look at this via Media Matters
CNN announces 5 Top Political Reporters to it’s already “deep Bench” (as in how far up Cheney’s ass they can crawl)

wow “Top” Political Reporters
Georgia Blames Russia And BushCo For Invasion
BT’s upstairs
This has been a discouraging few days. The talking heads all nod toward the fact that one’s philosophy regarding the origins and nature of the universe , as well as correct U.S. reaction to resurgence of the nuclear armed and beligerant Russia, might involve nuance. However, McCain apparently won the week on both foreign affairs and religion with simplistic sound bites. Maybe we’re just too dumb to sustain a democracy.
busted at 7 says-
”Actually I did, just to get them home. Clean it off, put something in the hole, put a little piece of plastic over it, *JB WELD*, and then duct tape the shit out of it.”
’course if you used the jbweld, he wouldn’t fix it, it would be fixed *g*.
the special edit thingies wouldn’t work, so used caps.

at 5–i went out one morning, oil everywhere…had it towed to my favorite mechanic-thank you AAA–hole in oil pan….he laughed..asked me wherei’d been drivin’ while i was out and about..i take the backroads to most of my friends’ houses, it happens. was a lebaron, low on the road. happened on the way home one night goin’ down a gravel road.
pastor warren is on scpan at 12:30==i believe they’re showing his sermon ….was on the scpan schedule when they showed it last night.
why is cspan showing him again and showing a sermon?
so, anyone who moderates anything with the candidates will be getting extra airtime?
===and i don’t think mccain should have gotten extra questions…at the beginning warren said they would be identical, it wasn’t.when he was done answering them, it should have bee over. i think an advisor told him to be succinct and get on with it, that there were more questions prepared that obama didn’t have time left to answer., that’s what=i would have told him.
Keith Olbermann also covered this, ending with “they killed him” [by denying medical care, even a visit from a doctor to evaluate]!!!!
I guess someone has to watch the Sunday morning gas bags. America’s corporate MSM, the worst in the industrialized western world.
